@mcgeeva Such bulls$!t! How much more OT can they expect?
  • They can't I drew the line after months of working weekends and weeknights on weekends. No longer. Then it was going through client transfer boxes. I did over 50 some when this DB did 7. I was told..something it sucks but your more efficient so you need to do it. I'm pregnant and regardless you still end up lifting the shit.

  • @katy0990 I don't really eat enough food to make buffets worthwhile, so they love me!

@mcgeeva Oh man, that's bull. Last time I worked in a place that allowed that kind of crap I was already doing the work of two people, and for a minimal raise they wanted to promote me and give me the duties of a third person (for you media folk I was already technical director & switcher, they were offering producer as well). When the official offer came down with a tiny raise I quit. Well, submitted a four week notice so I could train another director. Leaving that sinking ship was the best thing ever. Being jobless and running out of savings was more peaceful than working :confounded:

I bet that was an amazing feeling! I’m doing two coordinators jobs who are getting paid big bucks. I want their job and pay or they can kiss my ass and I walk when I get back. I’m more knowledgeable and been doing their jobs.

  • @mcgeeva Yes! I hope they really see how valuable you are - sounds like they should be bending over backwards to keep you. I think we have to be aware of our own value for sure!
  • !00% I definitely think the older we get especially after having kids I have less patience for bs. So little time to give im not going to be away from my kids all day if not appreciated. Two I can't work all these overtime hours after having a baby because I'm assuming when my others go to bed she will be up for a while.

  • @maureenmce how's your daughter today?

@everyone in the path of the storm- stay safe & prayers for no damage!

My hospital sucks. My first l&d experience last month was terrible. I went yesterday because I was having a lot of pain in my breastbone & back for 2 days in a row it woke me up at 5am. It had increased to like a 9.5, me crying in pain, hard to breathe. They actually got me in a room right away (took 6hrs last time) & hooked me up to a baby monitor (didn't bother last time), thought things were going way better! They took urine & blood, did an ekg. Then decided to start an IV with fluids & heartburn meds (though it didn't feel like heartburn & I'd taken zantac, but ok). They had to stab me 4x to get the IV started (I'm so bruised and sore!), but ok, it happens. Then they tell me everything looks normal & it's probably muscular. They are discharging me & will call in a muscle relaxer. Ok, kinda sucks because I'm still leaving in pain, but hopefully it will work out... I drive to my pharmacy to pick it up. They didn't call in a muscle relaxer, they called in an antihistamine- which my insurance refused to cover since it's not considered pregnancy safe. WTF man?! So another terrible sleep night. Have been trying to call my Dr since they opened, but the receptionist keeps saying hello & hanging up!
  • @mommythlegend I hope your doctor is able to give you some answers!
  • @echo-charlietango He is doing SO MUCH better. Thanks for asking!! He's still got a stuffy nose and a cough, but I can tell it's on it's way out. :)

@maureenmce Awww. I hope she is feeling better and that you haven't gotten it too.

@mommythlegend WHAT THE HELL!!!! The hospital should not have let you leave when you were still in pain like that. And then to prescribe you something that's not even safe for pregnancy?! That's ridiculous.

  • @mommythlegend
That sounds awful! I hope you feel better soon.

  • Talked to my Dr & they said the med is only not safe for First Tri & I can take it. But when I look up the uses, it is an antihistamine that can also treat insomnia and anxiety. Are they saying it's in my head? The reason I can't sleep is my chest & back hurt! Not sure what to do now.

@mommythelegend That's awful! 1. Do you have an option of different hospitals where you live? 2. Call back your doctor and tell them what you just said about the chest and back hurting. If they refuse to change from an antihistamine which doesn't solve your actual problems.... is it worth considering a doctor who will listen to you? I'm not one to just change doctors willy nilly, but if it's something like this not even related to birth... will they listen to you in the moment? Think about how much you trust them. If you trust them, then great! (EDIT: Call the doctor and see if they can explain it like @Katzalia said below. It may just be a miscommunication or lack of explanation on their part to why this particular item was prescribed!)

    @AdorkablePixie I'm glad he's feeling better!!

@mcgeeva Good luck with your work situation. My bitch for the week is maybe little, but I'm not sure? My boss has actually been amazing with everything I've told her with what I need (not coming back full time, not sure exactly when I'd come back - definitely not at 3 months, etc) and agreed to the things I need. Except nothing has happened. It's all been talk. She doesn't want to tell the rest of the staff my plan until we hire an associate. We need to hire an associate below me because that position has been open and we discussed me training this person to take over about half my job since we're not sure when I'm coming back and I won't be coming back in the same way... There's been NO movement on that hiring process. I even drafted the job description (since I was originally hired into that role before being promoted two years ago) and sent it to my boss three times. If we posted it Monday, I can't see how we'd have someone in before November...  Ugh.

  • @mommythlegend pain makes your body tense up, which then makes pain worse. Lots of painkillers are definitely not a great idea in pregnancy (or in general, but that’s another conversation). But the class of medication (perhaps Vistaril [hydroxyzine] or similar?) it sounds like you were prescribed can be a very reasonable choice to help with musculoskeletal pain and sleep. I’d try it as long as your OB gave the thumbs up.

    Yes @Katzalia, it's Vistaril

@omnommer I've heard one other hospital is great, but it is on the other side of the state line, so I don't think I can go there because I have state specific insurance & I'd probably have to have a different Dr too.

This is 2 out of the 5 pokes from the hospital yesterday. Ouchie!

  • @mommythlegend ouch! That looks like it hurts!
  • Someone got me sick and I'm congested from my chest up to my head. I'm off to google what pregnant people can take for this nonsense.  I'm not pleased.  :|

  • @omnommer  wow that sounds like my firm. Slow at everything they do. No one gets hired in less than two months either almost as if there is no sense of emergency that people are about to be out. We have a coverage call in a month to see who is covering my work, in other words who will make a mess while I am gone. I am nervous to tell them I plan on taking 16 weeks if I can afford it. I'm protected for 24 weeks under DC law just can't afford that much unpaid time at home.

@mommythlegend awful experience hopefully they figure it out soon!

  • Well, got some news today that couldn't have come at the worst time. Found out my husband's company is laying a bunch of people off and his job is one that got eliminated. So, his last day is in two weeks. It would be different if we didn't have a baby on the way, but of course it just makes the situation feel worse. :( Trying to not let the situation feel stressful to me, but it will be hard not to. It sucks insurance wise too, since the plan was for the baby to be put on his insurance as it is better than what my job provides. Just feels like when we take a few steps forward, we get thrown backwards in some way.
  • @whitneyb89 I’m so sorry that is having to your family! That sounds very stressful.
  • Noooo I'm so sorry @whitneyb89! Does he have any leads on a new job?

@PensiveCrayon Omg, I would die. I am such a baby about the heat. Did they know the a/c was out and just didn't tell you??? Or was it a surprise to your IL's as well?
