Re: Decorating - As soon as I pick up our house I'm decorating for fall. It's my favorite! Plus, my MIL will be here for Thanksgiving and after, so she'll clean up! PRAISE!
@texas_t I can only imagine how exhausted you must be!
@runrinserepeat congrats on making the leaderboards and your 5000 content badge!
@lippy625 I'm planning to decorate for christmas basically the day after Halloween. Once that holiday is over, I'll take down my fall and Halloween stuff and transition right into christmas. If I wait longer, it won't go up.
My random is that last night I was sitting on the couch resting my arms on the ole bump, and I felt baby moving like crazy from the outside! I've been feeling external movements faintly for a while, and SO felt her for the first time the other day, but now her movements are so strong and consistent! Definitely getting REAL! There's a baby in there!
@flamingomomma (((hugs))) I'm sure it's overwhelming. I'm a list person, would that help you? Maybe a list of things that you need to take care of, then Prioritize them?
Guys. Best day ever. Last week I ordered 8 bottles of Georgian wine (as in, Republic of Georgia, really hard to find in the US) from a random place online. I'm preeeeeetty sure shipping alcohol to Alabama is illegal, but they took my order, so I was like, well, we'll just wait and see.
Today FedEx shows up with an enormous package for me to sign for. THE WINE MADE IT. This is, in the words of our esteemed Commander-in-Chief...

Also let me try and respond to a few of the other topics of conversation in here. @runrinserepeat I was an idiot and bought myself a Bengkung belly binder for postpartum. Think 20 yards of cloth. Cute and traditional in theory, an enormous PITA in reality. You're supposed to start wrapping it below your cervix (also who the heck knows where their cervix starts??) and then go all the way up your abs. Very quickly one big question presented itself: how in the world are you supposed to pee with the thing on?
All that said, I never really had the feeling that my insides were jostling around, but it could have been because I was distracted by a far more pressing issue. This time I'm going to buy a freaking velcro belly binder. It sounds like the Belly Bandit is the most popular, but I did manage to get a prescription from my doctor for a PelvICE brand binder. He side-eyed me but signed it anyway. I'll have to do more research to decide whether I'm going to go with that or not.
As for Christmas, I've been thinking about this recently. I have a few gifts I'm thinking I want to buy H, so my reasoning is, I should probably just buy and wrap them now instead of waiting. Why not? I'll do my Christmas card mid-November, with the aim of getting them out by the first of December. Luckily all my addresses from previous years are saved in Mint and will print automatically onto the envelopes, so I will really only have to worry about putting the actual cards together (also, I really need to take a family photo before H leaves next week, otherwise I'll have to use something taken last December...or have an awkward photo with just me, the Bub, and the bump. Maybe I can photoshop H's face in there somehow )
Decoration-wise, our family saves everything for the day after Thanksgiving, as it was a tradition for H growning up. His side of the family will be coming down for Thanksgiving, bless them, so I'll probably act as set director while they take everything down and assemble the tree, etc. We haven't decorated for Christmas the past two years in the row, so I'm more than ready to give the house a good dose of Christmas spirit this year. (I also haven't bought Christmas decorations since the first year we were married...hmm...I may need to start hoarding my money now.)

@runrinserepeat I’m going to get a MamaStrut because my insurance covers it. Otherwise I was going to use a rando three piece affair from Amazon because I miss taking up small spaces and feel that binding will make me feel more like myself.
@temmetime I’ve never heard of that OWT, but that one worked for my dad, but not my mom! They each had kids with others after me - I have an uneven hairline - my mom had a second daughter and my dad had a boy. 50/50.
@Jens_Hoes Congrats on your pass!

@PensiveCrayon Congrats on your wine win! I look forward to buying a case of wine next summer (from SpaCityTropicalWinery.com because they make really fun non-grape wines) because we will maybe live somewhere longer than 12 months - yes!
Re: Decorating
I just don’t do it. We barely bought a pre-lit tree last year…not sure if it’ll fit in this house though I might get into it when LO is older, because I do remember it being pretty magical when I was wee.
My only random today is that I am soooooo thankful that DH hasn't called me out on being a lazy bum lately. I've been really unproductive these last few weeks, largely blaming weather, reflux, or tiredness (all true!) - but I know that he's...disappointed that I'm not getting more done around the house. I can't wait to get all nesty - there's so much cleaning I can do! But until the nesting urge, I'm just counting down the hours until I take my daily Zantac.

@PensiveCrayon I have all of H and DS’s Christmas presents bought. I just need to wrap them. I wonder if I can buy Christmas paper in September....
Random belly binder comment: I absolutely loved mine when my H tightened it for me. When I tried to do it myself, it’s just never felt right because it was not tight enough. Mine was Velcro.
I'm the worst at remembering where people are...do we have anyone over on the east coast that's being affected by the hurricane/evacuations? I've got a Mom in my other BMB that's having to evacuate their family, and I think they did last year, too. I haven't seen anyone mention anything here about evacuating, but I don't necessarily open every single thread, either.
@orangecrush29 I work at a Forensic Engineering company and our guys go out after big storms, so we are prepping at our office here in Texas. How are you holding up over there?
@pensivecrayon and @katy0990 We have a bunch of stuff already for DS for Christmas. I need to start thinking of what to get for everyone else. I do have a feeling my front porch will look like this come December.

@texas_t My newborn photos will be done by Christmas, so at least I know what I'm getting the Grandparents! As for everyone else, a hug maybe? But they probably won't want that because I won't have showered for a few days, I'm sure
I have my amazon cart ready to go for DD and her birthday. Everyone else is getting gift cards.
My biggest hurtle this holiday season is going to be not doing anything for my DH’s 40th. He doesn’t want anything, thinks surprise parties are stupid. For 35th I took him, his dad and mine to the Grand Canyon and I had planned on Iceland (for the northern lights) for this birthday but now baby, sooo I just feel bad....kinda. He will be happy with a cake and a hug (seriously) but his family never did anything special for their kids birthdays. I have been over the top because of it, hell I even throw his brother’s 40th and his dad’s 70th!! Poor DH, lol!!
@llynde5 My sister got her husband this cool spa treatment from a barber shop; like an old fashioned shave and facial and massage and he loved it. It seemed kinda cool, but I don't know if your DH is into things like that!
I started making a labor playlist yesterday because I didn't have one with DS & when my doc mentioned putting on my music DH went for Christian music while pushing... noooope!
So for those of you who are making a list/have in the past - what kind of music? I'm thinking a slower calm playlist (like the Christian music) for laboring & a pump up mix for delivery. I'm currently getting pumped up by my delivery playlist listening to a variety of songs from Push It, to Can't Stop the Feeling, to Hurts So Good.
@temmetime I really hadn’t thought about a playlist, but at my last OB appt “Push It” was playing through the speakers in the room and I thought how appropriate of a song for this office.
Re: Christmas gifts. My sister and I are both taking off a Friday in early November to go shopping. Anything after that will be online or gift cards. My plan is to have everything purchased by Thanksgiving and send the kids to the grandparents one day over that long weekend for all of the wrapping. I have my holiday budget spreadsheet started - I just need to start filling in ideas.
@temmetime That is so nice of them to thank you like that!! I didn't listen to any music while pushing because I just didn't think about it but on the way to the hospital I had DH turn on Seether. (I was fully dilated on the way to the hospital and was trying not to push..)
I have no idea what we are doing for anyone for Christmas this year. Money is tight because of starting daycare and we have a baby due the end of December!! Probably only our parents will be getting anything from us this year.
@texas_t that is a great idea!!! but my hubby goes to his college roommates shop and he does all the fancy stuff! And he once said a hot rock massage looked cool and that gift card has been sitting in a drawer for three years. My hubby doesn’t every want or need anything. He is generally always happy and gracious to the point it annoys me!! (Also why he deserves the world) He loves music, sports and travel. I might rent a box at a pens game after this baby comes and bus the guys down for a night. (And then slowly pay it off because I will be broke after nonpaid maternity leave, thank you America Express)
@AdorkablePixie you are not dumb. Plus, if you are using the calendar that goes by 10 months not 9, then you are 6 months!! Hell I told someone the other day I started my 7th month. It’s not a lie but then didn’t correct them when they said I looked great for 7 months. I need a complaint that day even if it was skewed!!
RE holiday gifts: We are getting our parents digital wifi picture frames so we can send them baby pics regularly (they are all far away and in laws don't text). Other than that, probably gift cards or baby pictures lol. I would like to get the frames on cyber monday cause they're pretty expensive, but we'll see how i'm feeling getting to that point.
@morgantu We wanted to do digital frames for the grandparents years ago, but never found one that we thought our grandmothers could set up (they're the kind to use Kindles as bookmarks). Let me know if you find a good one, I'm sure they've improved in the last few years
Re: holiday gifts I'm slowly collecting little silly things as usual, and I'll distribute them all (via mail of course) early December. Usually I spend more time and money on gifts, but I just suspect slim givings this year and I don't think anybody will mind. I'll prepare the usual things by mid-November, so that DH can handle the mailings if needed. My EDD is 12/12, but for some reason I feel like December 7th is giving me the side-eye.

Re: gifts. We're going to start buying things this weekend maybe so we can space out the money spent. We're keeping it pretty minimal still, but DHs family always gets us so much that I feel obligated to get just as much. I complained about it to DH the other day and he was upset by my complaining. Well, when MIL is buying stuff just to buy it, yes I have an issue because it's crap that just takes up space. And she's CONSTANTLY buying me kitchen stuff, when she KNOWS that DH is the one who cooks mostly due to time/situation!! Like great, thanks for this stuff your son is going to be using. I will say I limit the toys for DS to 2 from each grandparent/set. So total of 6 (my parents are divorced). If they get him more than 2, the extras stay at their house. I need to remind the grandparents of this rule...especially since my dad almost always has a new toy for him when he comes to visit...
@CecilB93 We get lots of kitchen stuff too - or at least we used to. Kitchen gifts have simmered down () over the years, but we still receive knick knacks each year - like olive trays and tiny mandolines. We've been able to discourage appliance gifts because we move so often, that restriction is handy.
I have a new randoms! 1) DH made my heart all melty again this morning. He was talking about getting the right adaptors for the stroller for an infant seat. Why? So he can take tiny baby to the deli down the street for weekend breakfast. It'll be their thing (while we're here) and give me some solid sleeping time. 2) I ran over to Jimmy John's for a sandwich because #lazy, and their tuna sub kicks Subway's tuna sub in the neck. Why hadn't I eaten there sooner?! Why doesn't everyone pair tuna salad with cucumber slices?

My random: is anyone having birth photography/video done? I'm divided. The lady I've been looking at finally sent me her price packages and it's $$$ but I'm someone who is willing to spend good money for excellent photos. That said, I've never looked at the photos my mom took of the birth of my son, but then, I have some really bad memories associated with it so maybe that's why. I love looking at others' birth photography. Not sure about seeing myself all exposed and intense though.
