@LLynde5 Nope, they were late bringing the drink. My biggest hate about hospitals has transitioned from IVs to how they can't do anything in a timely manner (Not talking about the doctors, because when people go into labor / deliver, and the complications that ensue, are totally out of their control). Like I get that unexpected things come up, but still, it shouldnt delay things by hours or take all damn day to discharge an uncomplicated patient.
Ugh, that's the worst @hkom! Last time I went to the hospital (maybe a month ago?) they dragged it out for 8hrs because I was low priority & wouldn't let me eat or drink. Felt worse when I left than when I came in from the hunger!
Please know that I realize this is dumb. My bitch is that MH promised to make me banana pancakes every day this weekend and never did it I kept reminding him and today I got hungry so I made an egg sandwich and asked of he would make pancakes next weekend. He was like "oh, I forgot" even though I had mentioned it like an hour earlier. Again, I realize this is silly, I just really want some pancakes and H makes them much better than I do
@hkom that’s one of the biggest complaints my parents have had about their experiences with hospitals over the last year and a half. It’s ridiculous that they can’t streamline the easy stuff somehow so that they’re respecting patients’ time more.
@hkom thanks for the validation haha. I don't know why it has me so irritated, but here we are. Maybe we'll have breakfast for dinner. I hope you get something relatively yummy to eat soon too!
@hkom That is ridiculous! I feel like some hospitals just go at their own pace. @morgantu I would be annoyed too. Can he make them for you for during the week?
My bitch today is small. I bought SO a hard cider yesterday along with a couple food items. The cashier looked at the drink and then at me and then the drink, but wasn’t saying anything. I handed him my ID (assuming he was trying to decide if he was going to card me or not).
Then he finally speaks and says, “I’m guessing this isn’t for you?” To which I reply, “no. But I’m over 21”.
I should have said it’s none of his effing business what I do with it and that it’s not illegal to sell alcohol to pregnant people, so continue on ringing up my groceries.
@hkom- have to say, after catching up on the bed rest thread- I'm so impressed with your strength and humor in your situation. Your baby is one lucky little one to have such a strong mama. The GD test already sucks thanks to that foul drink, and even more so if you have to wait on it- I'm sorry your'e stuck on the hospital's crappy schedule.
@morgantu- I totally feel you on the pancakes situation. Not only because pancakes are like dessert for breakfast and there is nothing better, but to me, when someone says they're going to do something and then doesn't, it is such a pet peeve!
My bitch is that after doing a few hospital visits here, I've come to find out that it's pretty uncommon for husbands to be able to stay overnight in the recovery rooms after birth. It's possible if you have a single or family room (which cost extra, but not much, and everything else is covered by insurance) but there are only a small number of these, and you can't reserve them ahead of time. I'm freaking out at the thought of having my husband leaving so soon after birth, especially since the nurses often don't speak great English and he is definitely the stronger German speaker.
In the States, it's common practice for the husbands to stay overnight, no? As a FTM, I'm not sure if this is true or if I am basing it off of movies/TV shows I've seen...
@deutschmama as long as the post birth/recovery rooms are private partners can stay too. I don’t know how common a private room is, but the hospital I intend to deliver at says they only have private rooms. I think some of the bigger cities is where a room might not be private over here. I hope you can get a private room!
@deutschmama The Hospitals around here have (uncomfortable) chairs or sofas for your husband to sleep on. Do they not have those there? Also, how long do they keep you?
@deutschmama Thank you! They finally got everything done and I got to eat, so I feel much better. Plus my mom is bringing me outside food for lunch!
That is crazy they don't let husbands stay overnight! I bet it's so much more stressful to you with the language barrier - I'm sorry. It seems like it's the norm here. Someone from security comes into my room every evening to see if a guest needs an overnight pass.
They let my DH stay overnight even though we had to share a room one night we were there. I think the expectation is someone stays with you. I’m sorry that might not be the case for you
@deutschmama where I’m at they really just have an uncomfortable couch and chair for husbands. I suppose he could sleep in bed with me, but I need my space after all that.
FWIW, after DS was born, DH went home for the night to take care of our daughter. He didn’t have to, but I wasn’t going to get any sleep anyway, it didn’t make a lot of sense to keep him there when he’s just be uncomfortable. He came back with donuts in the morning
Also when he came back, he was obviously more rested and thus more helpful than he otherwise would have been able to be, so then I was able to rest a little more in the morning. There are positives to not having him there overnight, I promise. You just have to look for them. I kind of love that I got my little guy all to myself that first night.
@hkom I hear you on the disorganization/lack of respect for people's time in hospitals. Last time I was in the hospital for a kidney infection I was in there two full days before a doctor came to see me. They only came because I was threatening to just leave. I was admitted through the ER so I saw a dr then, but didn't see another until I was discharged.
@kadeephd That's insane. I at least see a doctor every day here, even if nothing is happening. There is no telling when they will come to see me, sometimes they come in at 8 am and sometimes not until 8 or 9 pm, but that doesn't really bother me too much because I'm haven't really been having any issues.
That’s a good point @runrinserepeat. I’m not sure what the situation is at my hospital, but yeah — I feel like if I’m just going to be up all night nursing there’s no point in making MH lose sleep. I will definitely be requesting donuts the next morning too

@hkom Yeah I think this doctor was notoriously bad about seeing patients. I was mostly upset because I wanted to get out of there so I could catch a flight to a friend's wedding in Chicago.
My bf: people buying stuff through online apps are so damn annoying/unreliable. I have been trying to get rid of this Pack n' Play for a month. I have it posted to multiple sites/apps for $15. I would give it away (I got it for free, I just decided on a different travel crib) but I find that people are even less reliable when you give stuff away. If you say you are coming to get it at a certain time, show up. If you can't make it, let me know. It's common courtesy. I have had three separate people say they are coming to get it, then not show up and not let me know they aren't coming. I am planning my day around when you said you can come. Don't be a dick.
@hkom@kadeephd it's also my pet peeve when people don't respect your time. I'm sorry these happened to you.
@deutschmama can you ask if they can make exception for your husband to stay overnight given the language barrier? I know some of the hospitals I've been to make exceptions in cases like this since it helps the staff too.
I am planning my day around when you said you can come.
Seriously! What I started doing was holding "office hours" at a coffee shop, so if I was selling something I would let them know (via PM of course) that I would be available at X Coffee Shop, from 1 & 2pm (often reiterating that I will be leaving at 2pm without exception), and will be wearing leopard print shoes and a blue jacket. If they show up - great! If not, I get some one-on-one time with a book and a nice coffee & snack.

@hkom ugh waiting on anything in the hospital sucks and it sucks worse as a provider to have to tell patients you have no idea when it will actually happen. I have a whole slew of responses and jokes but often you still feel a little helpless.
My bitch is that my son and I both woke up with a cold. My husband is out of town so no clue how this week is actually going to happen... ugh
@hkom Ugh! I hope the evening crew is talented and can get your new IV set with little hassle - FX!

My BF, I totally screwed up my relaxing Target trip with an almost 3 year old. I has thought I had mastered the target run but today I couldn’t even add.
So here is our typical trip, feed babe before entering the store, make DD go potty as soon as we enter, give her a lollipop as dessert and she will sit happily for 45 minuets (back up is letting her have my phone but only if whining occurs). Hit the front of the store first, cut back through home goods, over to baby and swing past shoes, head directly to checkout with a human cashier!!
Today steps one they three were no problem, we headed down to the toothpaste aisle and where out of there in no time. Then cutting back through home goods I made a quick stop at some organizational stuff decided not to buy and wasted ten minutes. Then in the baby department my husband called from the Atlanta airport, he is delayed so i had him FaceTime DD, also slowed us down. At the shoe department DD got out of the cart HUGE mistake as always, but she found a few pairs so whatever. Now I am way behind but needed to check maternity which they have nothing as usual more time wasted. Then DD has to pee again. This time she misses the potty and gets her underwear barely wet but she can’t roll with it, so she is now commando. I zoom over to check out because she is in a dress and there is no telling what is next. Next is my phone is dead. So I am not able to check my coupons. I miss a 15.00 gift card by .03 and don’t get 20% off kids clothes and the shoes. I have no time to ask for assistance because now there is a line and an unruly child. What a fail. Half tempted to make my DH return everything tomorrow, he took an extra day off. I didn’t get a 6 day vacation, it’s the least he could do, right?!
@LLynde5 You have my sympathy! Taking a potty training toddler in public is so stressful! They always have to go at the worst time or they miss the toilet altogether. Can you have him take the receipt back and have them add the coupon? Usually, my store is pretty willing to adjust, if needed.
I can’t remember if I’ve already suggested or not. Some hospitals can place a midline IV. It’s not a central line and should last longer than a peripheral. Just a thought.
@Activebaby I'm not sure why they aren't doing that, but I suspect it may be because I'm not actually receiving anything though it? But I honestly have no idea. Would that make sense? It just needs to be there just in case.
@katy0990 I would think they would give the 20%. I sent them an email, so we will see? But to get the gift card I would have to return the diapers and add an item and I believe the sale has ended now.
Bitching about my bus driver who refused to stop at his regular stop because there was a construction truck blocking his way. He let some people out early but not everyone got the memo (maybe try yelling to the back of the bus that you're not going to stop?) and I had to walk from the next stop There isn't an emoji on TB to show how pissed off I am.
Bitching about it being the first day of school for my kiddos and me having to spend it doing this retarded 3 hour glucose test. I feel so sick already and it hasn't even been an hour. UGH
@hkom I'm so sorry about you losing another IV! The worst!!
@texas_t sorry costco was closed :-( That's always frustrating to get your hopes up when you actually want to do something productive!!
@runrinserepeat so sorry you had a rough weekend :-(. Sending you hugs!!
Y'all have some really good bitches and it's only Tuesday! @hkom O.M.G. about your IV! I'd be so irritated! @ab_canada I'd complain to the company! That's so obnoxious!
My BF is minor regarding y'alls. Costco was closed yesterday so we didn't get our chest freezer. Booooo.
My bitch is just about life in general. I did not have a good weekend, and I've been crying on and off for the past day about my mom. Of course, it was a long weekend so everyone today is going to be asking, "how was your weekend?" "did you have a good weekend?" "what did you do over the weekend?", and frankly, IDK that I have it in me to not burst into tears. If I wasn't so worried about saving PTO for maternity leave, I would've called in sick today.
Re: Bitchin' - week of 9/2
End rant.
