Guys, I've been so bummed about this - I didn't get to go to my big girls' weekend this weekend! I had planned to have my first overnight trip since DD was born and to catch up with old friends, and I was SO excited, but I got an hour and a half into the drive, hit some hills and my ancient car started overheating. I had to pull over and thanks to some helpful troubleshooting from a good samaritan, figured out it was the radiator fan and not a coolant issue, so I couldn't go any further into the desert, I just had to drive back home, taking frequent breaks to let the car cool down. I made it back safely but it took 6 hours to go absolutely nowhere. Getting over it now, but I was so disappointed! And, I managed to lose my debit card at a gas station early in the trip, so on top of being sad I feel like a grade A moron. Bleh. So disappointed!
My bitchfest is that I have one super swollen foot and ankle, it hurts when I walk.. which I have to do to get to walk and everyone is annoying me just by existing.
@maureenmce Oh no! That really stinks that your car ruined your weekend! I'm glad you made it back home safely, and I hope you can get the radiator fan taken care of quickly (and inexpensively). Boo to car trouble - it's the worst!

My BF is my pregnant body. So I had a GI appointment unrelated to pregnancy on Friday, and I continue to be on express pass to gaining weight. I know it was a different scale, but it was still a significant amount for one week. I put in so much effort last week (and continue to) to eat healthier, and I went on a ton of walks last week. I just don't understand my body and why it hates me. I can't imagine my body can withstand another 40 + pounds for this pregnancy if I keep putting on weight this quickly.
For various reasons, every baby in my class is having a Monday except for one amazing child. His classmates are losing it and barely taking half hour naps and he’s like “I’ll just sit here quietly and look at books”. Thank you baby.
We were so busy trying to soothe all 7 of them that I forgot to even eat until my 10 min break. Yikes. When I returned from my 10, I accidentally stepped in a tray of bubbles. Someone had set the bubble wands and tray on the path in our play yard. I also left my braces trays off until my lunch break right now because I didn’t have time to deal with brushing my teeth and putting them back in.
@tumbleweed-1 *crosses fingers and hopes that my LO will be the Monday-proof bookish gent you have today*

@Hollyyyyy. Thanks for sharing! I may give some of those a shot tonight. @maureenmce That completely sucks! I am so sorry that you missed your girls weekend and went through all that trouble with your car. I hope it is an inexpensive fix
@hollyyy Thank you!! I think the swelling is stemming from the ridiculous amount of time I spent in the car driving to and from North Carolina from NYC between Thursday and Saturday.
Here is my completely ungrateful BF. My husband always try’s to surprise me and I appreciate the effort. I truly do but I always figure it out. Today I feel like complete hell and pretty much this whole pregnancy except a few shiny days. It’s my birthday week and he want to do a million things because I usual plan crazy lavish things for his birthday (his family never did anything other than a cake and one present his whole life, so I think he just deserves more!!). Anyways, he is taking DD and I to a rodeo at a county fair. It isn’t something I would want to do at all especially because we are going to this same fair Wednesday to see Alabama. He thinks it’s the greatest idea ever because a few months ago I wanted to take DD to a legit rodeo and do the whole cowgirl thing and stay at a lodge. This is not that. I’m going to make lemonade out of this but why just why....
@lexidawg sorry about your foot! Hope the swelling goes down soon.
My BF is my boss is driving me crazy today. In a different way than usual. I got voluntold to do something, spent hours arranging the logistics, and now she’s trying to tell me to that nothing works and to pass it off to another person, even though her rationale totally doesn’t make sense.
@maureenmce I'm so sorry your weekend fell through and you had car issues. I'm totally bummed for you!
I had a shit day yesterday...nothing seemed to be going my way.
I am starting to go through DD's clothes to sort out some gender neutral stuff for LO, so I can give the remaining clothes and shoes to my girlfriend, who had a baby at the end of May. WELL, MH informed me that his sister wants the clothes back that she had originally purchased for us (she had bought a big lot of hand me downs from her husbands sister when we were pregnant with DD...and now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure MIL paid for those clothes...either way, I think it was only like $50 for 3 tubs of clothes and shoes). Now, this is particularly annoying to me because I received A LOT of hand me downs from two of my girlfriends, gifts from showers and birthdays and I also bought DD clothes (it's a LOT of clothes to go through, y'all!!). You're telling me that I have to REMEMBER which clothes specifically came from my SIL's SIL almost 3 years ago?! Also, and I'm really trying not to be an insensitive bitch, but SIL isn't even pregnant, nor does she have any children. So, there's a possibility these clothes won't even get used by her. But, it's not weird/annoying to MH because he's not the one that has to sort through a roomful of shit and try to figure out which family gave what clothes to us. I mean, is it weird that she's asking for the clothes back?! Or, is it just me? It's probably just me...
And I won't even get into why I hung up on the Old Chicago douche bag while trying to give him my order.
@clbness I agree with @hkom unless it was specified at the time she gave them to you, that she would eventually like them back, that's super weird. I'd just tell her sorry, you've already gifted them to someone else, as you were under the impression that they were originally given to you as a gift.
@clbness that is really bizarre. If it was purchased from your SIL’s SIL, and gifted to you....
i mean, when I had stuff loaned (note = explicitly clear it was a loan, not a gift) to me from friends, I made a note of what it was and as soon as kiddo outgrew, I washed & packed it back up & returned.
But I would never ever have done that with three tubs of purchased items that had been gifted to me. It would never occur to me to do that. And it’s pretty rude to post-facto change a gift to a loan.
@hkom@Hollyyyyy@Katzalia No, they were a gift...nobody ever mentioned wanting them back! It's really bothered me and I was wondering if I was making too big a deal of it. H seriously thinks it's not a weird request. But, he usually agrees that everything his family does is normal...when it's not, so.....
@clbness Yeah, I mean if you had it marked or separated in some way and could easily differentiate what she gave you from the rest of the pile, I'd say just roll with her weird request and give her the stuff back (if you wanted to), but since it was clearly a gift, and everything is understandably mixed together, I say F that.
@clbness I agree that that is really strange, especially because she doesn’t have kids. I loaned some of DS’ things to a friend, but I made it clear I wanted them back. Who does that when it’s a gift?
@clbness yeah no. That’s really unreasonable. Also, it’s totally reasonable to want your husband to back you on this. I mean, you could tell him if he can remember exactly which items were gifted from SIL vs. half a dozen other sources, without giving SIL any stuff NOT from SIL, then he should do that. Or he can back you on it being a ridiculous request.
Maybe I’m extra cranky because it’s been a special Monday. But I would have no patience for with it.
@clbness That’s totally absurd. How are you supposed to remember what she gave you?? I have NO idea what clothes people gave me for DD and it was only 18 months ago. 3 years?? I would tell her you don’t know which clothes they are but she’s welcome to come to your house and pick through and figure it out herself. Get outta here with that!
@clbness I think it’s a bit inappropriate for her to ask for them back when she gifted them to you.
That said, people I’ve given baby clothes to have sometimes given them back to me when their LO outgrows it, but I’ve never requested they do that. In fact, I’m surprised when it happens! “Oh, you remember this specific outfit I bought? I don’t even have kids, but ok” and then I pass along to the next baby I know.
Maybe SIL has some baby fever or something? (Not knowing her situation on why she doesn’t have kids).
I would rather have no luck then the string of bad luck I have been going through this whole pregnancy. It’s getting very hard to find the silver lining.
Today we are terminating the contract on the house we were trying to buy. The sellers do not want to make repairs that could be structural if not fixed before winter. I don’t have the energy to keep going back and forth with them. Then we find out our Jeep was broken into (DH left it on locked, he never does that) and the bracelet from my wedding was stolen. I didn’t remember putting it in the consol but my husband said he saw it in there looking for a pen a few days ago. Of course I didn’t have it insured because it was under $1,000.00. To add to that mess, I also had checking information in there and have to switch all of my accounts. And To top it off I still fell like I am going to throw up most of the day, everyday, at almost 22 weeks. I keep telling everyone I am done but the shit keeps coming.
@LLynde5 I'm so sorry all of that is happening. It must be so frustrating to keep dealing with non stop problems when pregnancy is so exhausting in itself.
I feel you too. Some of you already know this but this is an IVF miracle baby so I am so beyond grateful to be 24 weeks tomorrow! But that being said, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes at 12 weeks (we have a family history of diabetes.) And the food I have to eat is seriously making me so nauseous these days. Ugh. And on top of that, some of you already know all of this, but part of my face went numb on Friday morning when I woke up and the feeling still hasn't come back. I went to the ER Sunday per my OB's instructions and they couldnt figure out what was wrong. I am so unbelievably panicked that I am going to have a numb chin, lower lip, and gums for the rest of my life.
Oh @LLynde5 any one of those things on its own woukd be bad but all together? I’m sorry you are having such a horrible string of events. Hope things get better soon.
@mamajudec2018 you haven’t got any feeling back yet? I hope your appointment Thursday is better than your ER visit. Stay strong mama!
@Katzalia it gets better. Lol. We were told we need to wait on the termination because the appraisal will be back tomorrow. (We we’re trying not to be another 500.00+ into this, we thought the appraisal was today, but it was yesterday) and it could change our position if it appraised lower. I am so happy we were able to do all of this for the sellers. Have their house inspected, have it appraised. *bitter table of one
My BF is that I had a meltdown about my leg swelling, ER visit and daycare visit today. I am just so ready to move out of NYC. The logistics of daycare pickup for me is going to be insane. My husband will do drop offs with our one car.
@LLynde5 Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! The house buying process can be so unnecessarily difficult.
Still no feeling. I am going to ask my doctor if it could be preeclampsia when I have my Thursday appointment. I have read the numb feelings can be common with that and my feet and ankles are always insanely swollen. Although the ER doc said that wasn't it. Also, @texas_t suggested baby might be on a nerve on my spinal chord so I am going to ask my OB and my physical therapist their thoughts/recommendations on that.
@clbness Wha??? That is crazy. I got so many gifts/hand me downs/things for my DD I would have no clue how to sort out someone's gifts and also...they're gifts. If people gave me things to use that were temporary, they told me! Like, we borrowed a friend's Halo bassinet, with the understanding that we would give it back if they had another kiddo (and they did!) It's extremely rude to gift something to someone and ask for it back like it was a loan!
@LLynde5 Oh I am so sorry. I have had some rotten luck lately, but not that bad. I hope things turn around for you asap!
@LLynde5 I’m so so sorry about everything. What an awful lot of bad luck. Sending creepy internet hugs your way. @mamajudec2018 Last pregnancy, I would develop random numbness, tingling, and swelling in different places. It was the most random and annoying feeling. Some areas it would come and go and other areas it remained until my water was broken. Initially, I was told that it was due to the baby's position. However, I was later diagnosed with polyhydramnios and it is likely that the fluid was pushing on nerves and going to different areas of my body. Have you spoken to your actual OB? I have heard that ER docs tend to be freaked out by pregnancy and are afraid to probe too much.
@katy0990 I called Sunday when my OB was on call just to see if I should go to the ER or not and she told me to. I also know the ER doc talked to my OB while I was there to see if she wanted me to go to labor and delivery to be monitored and my OB said no. The ER doc basically seemed like she had no idea what was wrong. I have an appointment on Thursday with my OB so it'll be my first time meeting with her in person. I just looked up polyhydramnios and it does say one of the causes is maternal diabetes and I have gestational diabetes, although it is very well controlled. Do you know how you were eventually diagnosed? Did it cause any issues with your pregnancy?
@mamajudec2018 The cause of my polyhydramnios was never determined. I did not have gestational diabetes and, thankfully, despite being told that DS most likely had some genetic abnormalities, he was fine. When I went in for my anatomy scan at 20 weeks, they were unable to get some of the images that they wanted, so I returned at 25 weeks for a follow up ultrasound. It was at that ultrasound, that they noticed my increased fluid levels. I went on to have several more ultrasounds to check the fluid, which continued to increase even beyond 40 weeks. I ended up being induced due to the likelihood of prolapsed cord. Ultimately, my son and I are both fine, so the complications made me miserable, but were medically minimal. I swelled up a lot. I also developed carpel tunnel and the random tingling and numbness starting at 20 weeks. I had difficulty breathing because of the pressure of all of the fluid on my chest cavity. I hope the issues you are having end up being short-lived.
@katy0990 wow, well I will definitely ask about the possibility of this on Thursday. I'm glad that you and your son are 100% alright. I also can't believe you made it to over 40 weeks with all of that. I'm like how am I going to make it with these side effects? I mean of course I'll just suck it up but I have definitely had some crying episodes. I had a high risk appointment at 22 weeks and they didn't notice anything but also weren't able to get all the images they wanted. So I go back at 26 weeks, which isn't until September 6. I really hope they would want to get a diagnosis for this before that. I mean they can't ignore that a huge chunk of my face has been numb since Friday. But who knows they sent me home from the ER without knowing and no one from my OB's office has called to follow up or anything. I am definitely swollen everywhere. Especially hands, feet, and ankles. Can't really wear my rings and all my normal shoes leave marks. I started feeling shortness of breath at like 21 weeksish. And my hands are numb multiple times throughout the night which wakes me up and I have to try to get the feeling back. But again, that could just be because of normal pregnancy stuff.
@mamajudec2018 I am so sorry you have no answers right now and there's a seeming lack of urgency. I would definitely keep following up with your OB until they agree to see you asap. Hopefully it's nothing but definitely keep insisting they check you out. The ER is not always the best at being on top of pregnancy related issues. Good luck!
@maureenmce Thank you! Yes, I have that appointment with my OB on Thursday that was already scheduled so I will definitely push for some answers then. My OB is just so calm about everything and sometimes I wish she would be more urgent. It's also not an ultrasound appointment so not sure how much they can figure out. I also have another high risk appointment on Sept 6 so if no one else will help me maybe they will.
@mamajudec2018 Can you speak to your high risk doctor prior to your appointment? As @maureenmce said, I would keep pushing and advocating for yourself.
