  • +1 on the nausea train. I just want to enjoy food again. I love to bake, but between morning sickness and all the smells... Let’s just say it’s not a good idea.

@baya5 I will have to try magnesium supplements this time around. I had to have magnesium IVs due to the pre-e last time. Maybe the supplements can help with my migraines and avoiding pre-e.
  • Have we already talked about skin issues? I’m starting to get AWFUL cystic acne, but only on the left side of my face! That’s where I would get a pimple or two during my period, so I’m assuming it’s just on overdrive now. I’m just so frustrated. I’ve had clear skin for nearly a year until now, and I’m trying to find new products I can use since I can’t use my normal stuff.

So I had strawberries in a baggie in the fridge at work. They had been in there since Monday and on top of a baggie of jalapeños. I took one bite of a strawberry and could only taste jalapeño. So gross.

This happened to me with cheesecake from Chili’s today and it was sad :,( also jalapeños!
  • @JNR6510 I don’t know if magnesium helps with pre-e. I had a minor case of it last time as well and had to be induced 2 weeks early . My doctor said she’s going to put me on a baby aspirin because studies have shown it reduces the chances of pre-e reoccurring. I hope it works because I don’t want to go through a 3 day induction followed by hemorrhage again.

@rimomoftwo I’m getting that same pinching sensation on the side of my uterus/pelvic area. It’s lasted for over a week. And aside from pretty mild nausea and fatigue, not much else. My boobs were super sore about two weeks ago (right around when we got the BFP), but they’re back to normal now. The lack of symptoms is also messing with my head!!
  • IIRC the mag sulfate during labor is to prevent seizures in us lucky pre-e moms. I spoke with both my OB and a MFM before TTC for things to minimize risk of pre-e again and all I was told was be in great cardio health and take a baby aspirin. They said there is really no research saying anything prevents a reoccurrence. If anyone hears that mag would help though sign me up!!

  • We are on a short beach vacation (yay) and the exhaustion hit me HARD today (boo). As in, I can barely function. We were on the beach at 7am until 8:30, and have been at the aquarium since 10. Now my toddler is napping in the car while we drive around, then we are supposed to go back to the aquarium. I just want to go back to the hotel and watch TV though!
  • @professormama, I can't imagine being on a beach trip right now.  More power to you.  All I've done today is met with a doula and made some muffins and I'm ready to go back to bed, haha.

  • @kangstadt I’m honestly on the verge of tears sitting in the car right now. I’m so tired and lunch isn’t sitting well, because apparently I feel like crap every time I eat now. I might just stay in the car while they go back in the aquarium. I don’t think I can handle much more “fun.”
  • @professormama, do whatever you gotta do <3.  Take time for yourself too, that's the point of a vacation!

I'm sitting on the couch feeling like a bum while my DS plays dragons and my husband is weedwhacking outside.  The guilt is real but the nausea and exhaustion is worse :weary:.

  • Andddd I just realized I forgot to put eggs in the muffins... dang it.

  • @kangstadt you’re putting on your oxygen mask! No guilt. You’re growing a new human. we just made an oxygen mask call here too - my husband saw me tearing up and we decided to go back to our bnb/hotel. I’m going to read, we will swim in the pool, and generally just relax. ❤️
  • @professormama, good call!  Enjoy your trip .  And luckily the muffins still turned out okay, otherwise I may have burst into tears.  Yay, hormones, haha.

  • I’ve got four kids at my house today, ages 5,4,2,and 1. Two are mine and two are cousins. They have all been AMAZING today. So I feel guilty about not being more fun because since after lunch I’ve been exhausted (like can barely keep my eyes open). Good thing their mom is one of the friends I already told so she won’t hold it against me lol
  • I'm sorry all of you are feeling so terrible, but also I'm relieved to see all the posts today! Barely into my third pregnancy and I could just about curl up and die under my desk today. Never has it hit so hard so fast. All-day nausea, headaches, constant peeing. And everyone else in the world needs to just stay out of my way. I have no time for their B.S. or B.O.
  • I am pounding tums like candy. Why did the heartburn show so early this time around?!?

  • I’m about to go on a dolphin watch boat. On the one hand, it’s not deep sea or anything. On the other hand, these boats always smell terrible. Taking bets- what’s the over under on how long it takes me to puke?
  • @thatbaintforbetty Heartburn was my first symptom this time around and what prompted me to get a test. I normally hardly ever get heartburn, and when I do it's because I've just eaten something spicy or acidic. Only time I've had it just show up out of nowhere was when I was pregnant with DD, so when it happened while grocery shopping last week I figured something was up and grabbed a test just in case.

I didn't get it until much later with my last pregnancy though.
  • @chrissdee I had it really bad with DD but not this early.

She was also born with a head full of hair. It’s partly how she got her name.  That old wives tale is actually true and you will have more heart burn with hairy baby.

Which means this kid will probably look like Chewbacca.

  • Damn, nausea finally got me

Heartburn was my first symptom with all my pregnancies but the old wives tale wasn't true for @thatbaintforbetty, I had heartburn like crazy with my DD but she was bald until she was 2
  • My probiotics and fiber WORKED!!! Five days after starting, and I’m able to go at least once a day, if not twice, and I’m becoming more regular by the day. Constipation was my worst symptom and I’m happy to have some relief. Noticed that the probiotic helped with nausea, too!
  • My lovely dog got himself skunked Thursday morning. That set off the morning sickness big time and my sense of smell is so heightened so that’s not helping. I guess he’s just helping me prepare for all the curveballs of motherhood  :smirk:

Very very sore boobs and headaches and just so extremely tired... my Apple Watch told me I’ve really improved my sleep habits hah. I’m in bed by 8:30 every night. Don’t really have an appetite but craving salads and fresh veggies.

Any other hairstylists on here? Struggling with the nausea and exhaustion while working with clients, I think I’m going to have to add some breaks to my long days soon to just get some fresh air!
  • @jecrae I'm so glad you posted!!  I need to get my hair coloured again real bad.  What are your thoughts on colouring your hair while pregnant? I don't really want to wait till the 2nd trimester...

  • @mermaidca I always get my hair done.... I got my roots touched up seconds after I found out I was pregnant and I'll probably go again this week.
  • @mermaidca I just spoke with my hairstylist about this last night; she said most brands now are pregnancy safe. You should be fine, but I wouldn't be bleaching or going crazy with multiple process sessions/rainbow hair.

  • I am 4+5 and haven't had a ton of symptoms yet other than some cramps last week, breast tenderness and some mild nausea today. I feel my anxiety getting ramped up a little already, so I'm just trying to rest as much as possible. Difficult timing as a teacher going back to school this week!
  • Boobs are definitely tender, and I got sick for the first time today. Here we go!

Sorry, duplicate posts. Also wanted to add that I'm overly emotional at this point too. Poor DH.

  • Uuuuggghhhh I feel like I got hit by a train. I am so exhausted, and so nauseous constantly (like sometimes can't talk or move for fear of puking :-/), and my boobs hurt, sometimes even without being bumped!
I have a text into my midwife (she prefers text/email for non super urgent/ labor issues), but we may have to go to urgent care. I'm so miserable :-(.
Ironically today is our 4th wedding anniversary, and we spent a lot of the honeymoon in urgent care because we were rear-ended the day before our wedding! I guess it's a fitting place to go today then? Hah...ugh :-)
  • @molecularmolly what a rotten honeymoon! I hope you didn't end up repeating the urgent care visits on your anniversary and that you ended up feeling better.  Thinking of you!
  • Its so strange - I have mild nausea and a general overall feeling of yuck and am really tired......but I mainly just feel depressed. It's still so hot outside and our air quality is terrible with all the fires out west so I feel stuck inside and extremely antisocial. I've gotta get out of this funk!
  • And I'm sorry, but can I vent for a sec? I just made a comment to my DH that I was dreading getting up for work tomorrow feeling the way I've been feeling. His response? "Its just gonna get worse." And then he goes on to talk about the swelling and hemorrhoids I'm gonna get and then after the baby is born, driving him/her to daycare on my way to work while they're crying......I mean. What the fuck. Just bc hes done this before he thinks I'm weak and can't handle it. He's being incredibly insensitive. It doesnt help that I don't like my job nor do I like living in northern Utah (I moved here for him).....ok, sorry, I know this is a pregnancy board, not a couples therapy board! I just don't have the support system out here like I did back in Ohio where all my friends and family are. Plus the hormones!!! End rant
Again, sorry for the TMI. I just had to let it out.
  • @mermaidca the whole thing with hair dye and pregnancy is it’s  unethical to test on pregnant women... therefore it has never been tested for side effects. I personally think most brands are safe enough, I would however strongly advise women not to get keratin treatments while pregnant! I won’t be performing that service while pregnant. There is no regulations or FDA for hair products. If you are nervous about hair color I would recommend doing highlights or lowlights as nothing actually touches your scalp!
  • @rennie1108 I'm so sorry to hear that.  It's gotta be tough when your #1 isn't there for you the way you want him to be. My husband and I had a rough patch and now talk everything out.  I seriously tell him everything about how I'm feeling - especially when he tries to "fix" a problem.  No! I just want sympathy.  I really hope things get better for you.  And don't be afraid to go talk to a professional if you need.

Thanks for the hair advice everyone!!!  Those greys are coming in hard and fast haha.

  • @mermaidca Thank you! I've definitely been thinking about going to see a therapist. I think that would help a lot.

And I've also been wondering about hair dye. My stylist starting using a natural hair dye on me when I first started going through IVF. I still kinda want to wait until after the first trimester but I'm so gray, I don't think I can wait!
