Wish I would have known!!

Re: Wish I would have known!!

  • @allthingsgo - It's a youtube thing, right? We deleted youtube kids after DD watched some weird shit. Currently, she's addicted to Storybots and is telling us all about how things work and asking so many questions.

  • @kayjay44 yup! They showed it as part of a story time we go to and then of course DD wanted to watch it ALL THE TIME.

What is Storybots on? Sounds like a good show if it’s getting her to tell you what she learned and ask questions. Impressive!

There is a lot of weird stuff on YouTube and sometimes even the commercials I feel can be inappropriate on kids videos.
  • Actually I wish I could forget how huge my feet got! Im dreading it happening again!
  • StoryBots is on Netflix! DD came down with a cold this morning and is glued to it currently. I really am happy that she likes it because I do too. Lol.
  • @lzzfrancisco My feet were huge! Last few weeks were rough. I’m already a size 11.  :s
  • @kayjay44- you lucky shark, you!
  • The only "Baby Shark" song that I know is the camp one: "baby shark do do, do do do do... Mama shark do do, do do do do... Papa shark" and so on.
  • @madreofdragons I'm a size 11 now.  Was a 10 before DD.
  • @madreofdragons Wait a second, this song from my camp days back in the 90's is now popular again???? These are strange times indeed.
  • It’s an epidemic at this point.
  • That's hilarious. Next it'll be the Tamagotchi. LOL
  • Just thought of one. Wearing a pad for such a long time after birth gives a lot of ladies a super fun cooch rash, myself included.  :#
  • @madreofdragons solidarity diaper rash!

... for how long is a pad necessary anyway? I’m not looking forward to that part.

  • Really depends. Mine was about a month. Some ladies bleed like 2 weeks. If memory serves I only had to wear a big one for about a week and was able to switch to regular, thins for the rest.
  • Fantastic. It’s so fun when people say the good thing about pregnancy is not having a period. I mean, I bled and spotted for the first two months of this pregnancy, and if I’ll bleed for two weeks to a month after birth too I’ll have bled more than I would have if I hadn’t been pregnant. No fair.

  • Mine was 6 weeks both times. I only needed super pads for the first week or two then could switch to thin pads. I didn't have a period for almost a year twice after birth, though.

  • I mean really some bleed even closer to 2 months. I’ve heard it’s worse with second babies. I’ll tell report back on that one.
  • I'm dreading the pads. I switched to cloth ones a few years ago because I hate them so much. I usually have a pretty mild flow though so my cloth collection is going to do me no good at all in this context.

Same for me with DD. Also not having a period for a year after birth was awesome. So almost two years no period!
  • With our first, I did secretly enjoy sending DH to the store to buy the fat pads. I just told him to look for a woman who had kids, she would help him!

That was the case for me. I bled 4 weeks with DD and 6 weeks with DS. Both times I only wore a super for the first week. I’m also one of those few lucky ladies who get her PP period back super effing fast. I was exactly 2 months PP with DD and I was 4 months PP with DS when the bitch came back. I breastfed both, too.
  • Cloth pads!! Seriously way better than the disposable kind for avoiding rashes, but I cloth diaper so it’s no big deal to throw into cloth laundry. I actually never got my period back, haven’t had it since giving birth to DD (got pregnant breastfeeding before my period returned!)
  • @lifeislove87 - what kind did you use for the postpartum bleeding?
  • @becks_726 I use Hannah pads, they are great. I use disposables in the hospital but outside of that their heavy flow ones do the trick. I bled for eight weeks after birth so it was nice to have something a little more comfortable
  • @lifeislove87 I'll check those out, thanks!
  • I havent worn a pad in like 15 years because i find the feeling disgusting and it just dawned on me that ill have to for like possibly 2 months? Oh god!!  Good thing i wont have to leave the house much i guess.
  • @cass06_07- it wasn't nearly that long for me. Maaaaybe two weeks. Maybe.
  • @sjnsjnsjn.. phew, my fingers are crossed!!
  • @cass06_07 I never used pads until I was PP (I always used tampons). It blows but you have bigger concerns. I had to wear them in some capacity for 6 weeks. The big ones you one need for a week or two. After that, slim overnight ones worked for me.

  • Yeah, ill do what i gotta do @kayjay44... but for now i still dread it!!  If i end up with a cs ill be more concerned about that
  • I was totally dreading the pads too @cass06_07 but it's not that bad (mostly because you're so focused on keeping a human alive, bleeding nips, cramping, and all the other fun stuff that comes postpartum lol)
  • @BourbonBiscuits- Agreed. I was having far too many struggles with breastfeeding and my newbie's sleep to care about the pad!
  • @lzzfrancisco yess!! I have been focusing on this. As a FTM I feel so empowered doing something that I think could help with labor. Helping me feel more empowered and less scared. I love Expecting and Empowered workouts. They are AMAZING. Worth every penny! There are even pelvic floor exercises every work out, too!
  • Even just walking every day makes a huge difference in laboring and recovery time!

  • That's a great suggestion @lzzfrancisco. I've been trying to walk a significant distance daily but that's getting harder. I need some indoor activities, I think.
  • @lzzfrancisco do you have a specific set you do that you can share? I really need to get it in gear here.
