Re: PAIF Graduates - New Mommies - August 2018

  • Yeah that makes for a long day. I’m from Oregon and my company’s maternity leave is the standard 12 weeks with taking your vacation and sick time to pay you. I would honestly take an extra 3 months off with no pay if I could go back to my job but that’s not an option... hopefully his daycare is near your office. Yeah it makes sense for me too. Haha wish I didn’t have such a good job. ;) then we could just stay home. Come on lottery!!!
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.

  • We don't usually do much in the way of Labor Day plans --- and being in pediatrics, I'm just getting over our busiest time of the year @ our practice  since everyone needs their school check-ups and shots ! I still go in two half days a week and do some work from home, but not my pre-baby level...but at this time, everyone needs to pitch in extra!

Our weather has also been awful so probably no grill outs...

My plan is to go shopping...there's nothing I like better than to browse stores and this weekend with all the sales, there's a good excuse    And my husband is at home so I can leave Anne with him and enjoy some baby-free time.

  • I’m already dreading going back to work next month and trying not to think about it. Thankfully we were financially able to swing me taking Fmla unpaid and then using 6 weeks of my leave after but I wish I didn’t have to go back. While DH is definitely the breadwinner, I work for the federal government and would hate to lose my retirement and I carry the insurance. Daycare is within walking distance from our condo (and is about 5 min from my work) so that makes me feel better if I absolutely need to stop by or something happens. And I work from home on Mondays so might just keep her with me for the first few weeks (shhh, don’t tell my boss!)
  • @mtpbadger - retirement and insurance is a big reason why even with two I couldn’t “easily” be a SAHM or DH be a SAHD. I’d defiantly keep her home with her haha. Why not, even just give it a try. I’ve worked from home a bit while on my leave recruiting for a few positions and it was manageable - crazy what you can cram in to nap time or snuggling a nursing/bottled baby.

I work at home and it was a nightmare for me at first! But my work is mostly bookkeeping tasks and billing insurances/verifying charges, so very detail oriented and getting constantly distracted throws me completely off. I've ended up doing most of my at-home work after she goes down for bed or my husband is home to keep her entertained...or if I do end up with a really nice solid nap during the day! I found working at home one of the hardest aspects of life after baby, although I'm getting better at it. I always feel more productive when I go into the office! I was surprised at how difficult it was for me, especially since she's such an easy-going baby.

  • It really is difficult to work from home with baby. I have put in like 10-20 hours a week for the past month and the timing definitely has to be right to get things done. I do a lot when he takes his one long nap of the day.

Very thankful Parker is a nap champ - I always had a two hour solid nap to work with lol. Then an hour later on if needed.
Once they are older you have the time that they are eating or maybe a movie to help. I did some phone screens with Moana clearly playing in the back ground lol. One lady called me out but then praised me for juggling both hahaha

  • What what an emotional day. I teared up packing his bag for daycare tomorrow... ahhhh this sucks. I love my job but ugh. Wish maternity leave in the US was better because I would love a couple more months with my little boy.

  • @Holls214 - thinking of you - I bawled putting him to bed tonight. Doesn’t seem to matter how long you have, it’s literally just sucks. I’m a ball of anxiety - we’ll get through this mama!!

  • @jwatt5 good luck to you too tomorrow!! I’m anxious for the two of you!

My work from home Home was basically answering emails and catching up on writing reports or any other busy work from the previous week (which normally isn’t much). I mostly watched dvr and cleaned the condo/did laundry while making sure my computer didn’t go to sleep. Lol. I’ll keep her home the first few weeks and then maybe eventually drop her off late/pick her up early since she’ll be a 2 min walk away.
    JWatt5
  • @JWatt5 @Holls214 The first day is the absolute hardest, but the whole first week is tough. It's okay to feel all the feels...sad, happy, anxious, you name it.
  • Good luck to the ladies going back to work! I can't even imagine it right now! You're so strong good luck!  Sounds like u all have great plans in place!!

im totally jealous hearing about all of these naps!! My LO is not sleeping! This am she first went down at 6:30am I'm so thankful she got a nap in finally as I was falling asleep feeding her.

This last week has been rough as here I thought I was such a pro fully bf her and at her check up she didn't gain a lot of weight so the dr was very unhappy and made me feel like shit.  So I'm back to pumping bottles and even supplementing with formula again. Her gas is bad but hopefully this time around I'm giving the drops more frequently and she'll feel better!! I explained I never pump slit and everyone said don't worry the baby is getting more and now the dr was like no she's getting the same  :s so definitely have the baby blues this week! Trying to ignore them and just get some more food in her...mind u she will eat it all and toss it up right after!  She just turned 3 months and I still feel like I'm feeding a new born.

  • @Holls214 & @JWatt5 I hope today is going well for you. It's so hard, even this many months later, to drop him at daycare. It gets easier, I promise. And honestly, I know that I would give anything to be a SAHM but I'm probably a better mom because I cherish the time we do have together.

This weekend was Eli's 1st birthday. It was SO hot. I may have suffered some heatstroke. But it was fun and boy did he love his cake! I'll get the professional photos back soon.

Today totally sucks... I can't concentrate on work and it feels like my heart is just broken. Anxiety has set in. Argh. The house is so quiet since I work from home. The lady for his room at the daycare this morning wasn't very personable which didn't help. Boo.
