@spartan4life We didn’t have a glider when DD was born. We just got one when Babies R Us was going out of business. We had DD in a bassinet in our room for the first 5 months and she started to sleep through the night before that so all of our feedings were either in the living room or in our bedroom (in bed). Ideally I would like to put the glider we got in the living room but I don’t think there’s room for it. I feel like it’s definitely not a necessity.
From the beginning we really only used the glider for nighttime feedings, that being said, we still use it at 2.5. It’s definitely convenient to have one in the nursery, but I’m sure you could go without.
@SweetSweetTooth oh man the hormone surge/rage postpartum is something else. Lol . Luckily for my husband, my bil was living with us at the time and he got the grunt of my rage. Not so lucky for my bil. So I ended up being super nice to my husband
@spartan4life I feel like I used the glider more when DD was a little bit older, probably 9+ months and it was mostly to do our bedtime routine before putting her in her crib. For nursing I either nursed in bed in the middle of the night or on the couch.

I'm covered in mosquito bites! They get me while I'm sleeping but I have no idea where they are coming from. There are a few cases of West Nile here in San Diego, and the only zika incidents were acquired on travel to South America but I'm still nervous! I suppose my question is how bad are mosquito bites during pregnancy and how absurd is it to be paranoid!
Is it normal to be super nauseous during the 3hr glucose test?? It doesn't help a super smelly mad sat next to me for like 10 minutes but now I just dont feel good... 2 hours and 20 minutes to go..
I felt so sick during the first 2 hours of my 3 hour test. I had decided I would puke in the trash can in the corner. I was so convinced I'd puke but I didn't. It's having an empty stomach with nothing but that awful sugar drink. That and the blood draws. Bad combo!
@mamabearcj Are you allowed to go for a walk? Maybe getting some fresh air will help. I felt nauseous for my 1 hr and almost passed out during my blood work.

Anyone have any suggestions for more supportive sandals that are appropriate to wear with work dresses (not super dressy, but no flip flops or anything)? My feet have been killing me lately, so I think I may need better shoes for work.
@mamabearcj yep, I had to lay down during my 1 hr because I was getting dizzy and lightheaded. That much sugar on an empty stomach sucks big time. Hung out in the exam room for like 15 min by myself after the Dr left until i felt ok to walk somewhere else.

I feel like this that come up before, but I'll reiterate that Crocs makes some nice comfy work sandals!
@pumpkinpancake if it gets bad enough, honestly, I'd wear tennis shoes, if you can. I've done that before when I had bad foot pain one day. Not afraid to do it again if my back pain gets worse and I find the support necessary.
i'm probably no help...living in my keen sandals this summer with everything, including at work. granted i sit at a desk and my bosses are fine with really anything, but it has made for some beyond questionable fashion choices.
DH loves to feel the baby moving. I've woken up in the middle of the night thinking I was getting a belly massage, but really, he was playing games with her. She's always very active and responsive to touch. So he'll wait for her to kick, then rub that spot, and she'll kick again. It's kind of cute. I'm not really a fan of the movement. I had an anterior placenta with my first, and didn't like the movement then, but it started much later. I've been feeling this one since 12 weeks, and I swear she hardly stops moving! Every ultrasound, she's all over the place. This morning I joked with DH about transferring her over to him for the day so he could carry her and I could get a break. I love her and I'd rather feel movement than not, but it's definitely not my favorite feeling!
@jandmnumber1 I use pantyliners in my bras. They absorb the sweat and prevent the heat rash. I normally use Band-Aid antiseptic wash to clean if I get a rash, it has analgesic which helps take the stinging pain away. I haven't had to use it during pregnancy yet, though, so haven't checked if its okay to use.
@pumpkinpancake I’ve been wearing these a lot, I got them at Target but I’ve seen them elsewhere. They work with jeans or skinny dress pants and I’ve even worn them with some more casual dresses. I could use something more “dressy” though...
So not pregnancy related but what's a good age appropriate gift for a 2yr old boy who likes trucks..? Besides the obvious lol his birthday is Saturday and I am assuming everyone is going to be getting him trucks
@mamabearcj I’m guessing everyone will be getting him trucks, so I’d do something a little bit different. If he doesn’t already have the book Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site, grab that. It’s a huge hit with both DD and DS, and I actually really enjoy it too. A toy that’s different but good if he enjoys building things is Magformers (or a knockoff equivalent on Amazon because we have both and there’s literally no difference in them except the fact that you get SO many more of the knockoff ones for about the same price). They keep both of my kids entertained for hours. (Screenshot below of the ones from Amazon that my kids have)
Has anyone else noticed an elevated HR, especially resting? I wear a FitBit HR daily, and while I know it's not 100% accurate my resting HR has been trending up. It currently averages between 88-91. And sometimes I'll be sitting (usually sitting up and working) and my HR will be over 100.
I'm going to mention to my Dr next week, but just curious if others have seen it.
@sammierose464 since getting pregnant my resting HR has increased from 55bpm to 72bpm on average. I get tired and out of breath from everything now and my HR will spike randomly depending what I'm doing. Def talk to your doctor about it but it could just be another symptom due to all the extra blood volume we have now.
@pumpkinpancake I’ve been wearing the same pair of Patricia crocs sandals for 11 years including stints backpacking through South East Asia and on my feet as a kindergarten teacher. They look fine with dresses and skirts and have a slight wedge so they have decent arch support. Bonus is you can often find them at Costco (in Canada anyway).
@sammierose464 yup, mine is up. I asked and my doc said it’s normal and she’s only concerned if I hit 120ish resting (I called during a stressful time when I hit he low 100s and couldn’t get it back down)
@mamabearcj if there is any chance he still puts things in his mouth a lot, I might second guess those. If they are small enough to be swallowed. I know all the other strong magnet type things like that, they have been warning about. Because if they swallow more than one, they can attract each other internally and possibly break through tissue. (The last news story I read about it, the little boy swallowed a couple similar to this, and they "attracted" each other, and ripped through a part of his intestines.) I mean you know if it's appropriate for said little boy. I'm just a worrier (and my DS definitely tried to put his cousin's like that in his mouth)
@jomama1618 that's a really good point!! I think hell be okay and his mom is good about watching what he playing with and playing with him so I'm not too concerned but I will mention it to her when I see her! (:
@jomama1618 they aren’t small enough to swallow. My 2 year old has SPD and puts everything in his mouth and we haven’t had any issues with these at all.
@mamabearcj road rippers makes cool Vehicles. Mega Blocks also has cool set with cars and tracks in them. DS has a rescue car by road rippers that has a button on top that makes it move and sound effects. DS also loves anything sports related, Paw Patrol blocks, trains.
@sammierose464 mine is up too. I recently read that during pregnancy a women’s resting HR jumps from an average of 70 BPM to 90 BMP. Just remember, you’re pumping two additional pints of blood through your body.
@tlmill awesome to know! I wasn't sure size on them (DS' cousins were obviously smaller and definitely able to be swallowed.) Just one of the things I'm always weary of.
Has anyone done a subscription for baby stuff? I want to try the Target one but I feel like I'm not sure how to time it. Like I don't want to end up with 300 of the wrong size diapers. I guess it's just planning, but looking for opinions if anyone liked it or not?
@mamabearcj I would probably get him a block puzzle with trucks. Melissa and Doug also has reuseable sticker books with trucks. We got that for DS1 a few years ago.
@sammierose464 I'm glad you asked, mine has been super elevated. Like 100s sitting down and I'm like come on I'm not even doing anything. I was beginning to think my FitBit was lying to me.
@mamabearcj Magnet blocks are the way to go good choice. I also saw magnet books on amazon that were construction vehicles. Those seemed nice.
