@meggyme They wouldn’t let me walk around since I was already at 5cm. They were afraid walking around would progress labor faster than I could get my two rounds of antibiotics in. Even with my epi I was already ready to push 15 minutes after the antibiotics finished.

On my way to a baby shower for my DH’s best man... a little awkward considering none of them will know I’m also pregnant! Just had to say that a group of ladies that would completely understand that’s all!

@ashley14598 I just got back from a baby shower too. It’s so much harder not to tell me pregnant friends!

I'm worried about being high risk again. I know that it's not a given that i will have all the same issues again but the realities are hitting me now and i'm freaking out a little.

Also my DH said he wanted to go walk in the park before the heat hits and then fell asleep on the couch right after i got me and DD all ready. Now we have to wait till after 6 when it cools down. Grr.

@thebaintforbetty if you don’t mind me asking, what we’re you high risk for last time?

Ribs just made me puke. And then I cried because ribs made me puke. Suffice it to say I’m feeling very pregnant right now. And I’m mad because I love ribs. Hrumph

@meggyme and @ashley14598 I had gestational diabetes, the worst case my perinatologist(sp?) had ever seen or heard of. I had to give myself shots in the belly 4 times a day, check my blood sugar all the time and was on like less then 1800 calories my entire pregnancy. I also ended up with shingles, which popped up because pregnancy weakens the immune system. And even though they gave me meds they can come back at any time throughout the pregnancy, which is dangerous because it can cross the placenta. I also was in a head on collision at 7 months and had a bunch of extra NSTs from like 30 weeks on, and told i likely wouldn't make my due date. They pulled me out of work in the end when my BP started to elevate, thankfully i went into labor the night before my induction.

I also hemorrhaged during labor and ended up back in the hospital like 3 days pp with Vertigo. So i'm not exactly eager for a repeat.

@thatbaintforbetty oh girl I’m sorry you suffered all that you did! It must have been so scary to be in a car accident while pregnant! I had GD as well thankfully mine was pretty well controlled but at the end my BP started elevating as well. I was put on strict bed rest in the last 4 weeks and was only supposed to get up to go to my appointments (which were 2x a week or more some at the OBs office and some at the hospital). I had an at home BP cuff at home and had to check it regularly ... I hated that thing! I had to be induced a day early from my due date and then I had a horrible reaction to the pain meds that they gave me after delivery. The reaction made me feel like bugs were crawling all over me whenever I laid down or it was dark. It also made me feel like my chest was caving in and gave me horrible nightmares. The reaction caused my BP to stay spiked and I had to work with my at family doctor to get it back down and to wean me off the meds which took over 4 months. Dealing with that reaction while taking care of my newborn baby was a NIGHTMARE! All I wanted was to be with my family and my newborn.

I’m with you I’m scared to death it’ll happen again and dealing with GD and elevated BP while taking care of my 1 year is terrifying me but we got through it the first time and will this time too. I keep reminding myself that the doctors and my midwife continued to reassure me that every placenta is different and every baby is different. They all react differently and are different within our bodies. That is giving me some hope hopefully it can give you some as well! And bonus now we have the support of each other and all these lovely ladies to help us get through any rough patches!

Add me to the list of people with a difficult pregnancy. I started having what I thought was Braxton Hicks around 27w - but then I felt off. I went to the hospital to find out I was having regular contractions, a thinned out cervix, low amniotic fluid, and a baby with his head engaged. I had to stay in the hospital for two days. So. Many. Shots. Then I was on bedrest until 36w. Except for the time I fell down the stairs at 34w and sprained my ankle. That earned me two days on observation in L&D. Also I had a blood vessel on my cervix which bled uncontrollably anytime anyone even looked at my cervix. It earned me hospital stays at 18w and 37w. Lastly, I had PUPPS starting at 36w and I begged my doctor to induce me because the itching was insufferable. I still have scars.

It was probably a good thing thing that I got pregnant on accident because I was struggling with the aftermath and accepting that if I got pregnant, it could happen again. My OB gave me no assignable cause for the preterm labor so I’m just trying to lay low this pregnancy. I can’t imagine being on strict bedrest (other than the bathroom) 24/7 while taking care of a toddler - but I guess you do what it takes. It’s really helpful to hear other people with the same concerns. It helps knowing I’m not alone. Thank you ladies for sharing!

My goodness, you ladies are so strong! I hope you all have an easy and stress-free 9 months this time around - you deserve it!

I don’t like Walmart, but I do LOVE grocery pick-up. I just did my Sunday grocery shopping in about 5 minutes on my phone.

@thebaintforbetty I hemorrhaged too. Most terrifying experience of my life. I was seconds away from a complete hysterectomy when they figured out where I was bleeding from. I almost died while DH stood to the side holding DS1 signing consent forms for surgery. I had horrible PTSD especially when it came time to give birth to DS2.

@mschanandlerbong1214 I would have PTSD from that too. I'm guessing it didn't happen with your second as well?

Thankfully i wasn't on that level, just shy of a transfusion if i remember right, but i don't think i have ever been so terrified as that moment we figured out something went wrong.

@thatbaintforbetty no thankfully, DS2 was my redemption birth experience. I labored at home to 9cm (didn’t know I was that far along!) and he was out in 3 pushes!
