Re: Weekend Randoms 7/7

  • Today is my first day at the library! I'm shadowing the outgoing children's librarian. I'm kind of excited to jump in and get started!

My MIL and FIL are bringing over their old couch because they got a new one. THey have been talking about getting a new one and they asked us if we wanted the old one like, months ago. At some point they stopped asking us and were being weird about it, and despite DH jokingly saying he would be sad if they gave it to someone else and we could really use it, they still asked my BIL first, who declined because they don't have room (which he has told them) and he knows we want it. Super annoying. It's like they think we are too old for hand me down furniture so they should be giving it to the other just starting out brother. He got their old bed (which we didn't need) but he ALSO got their old sleigh bed frame which we DID need and they knew that, and he does not use. He's actually thrown away two mattresses they've given him instead of moving with them, and they just bought him a new bed frame. Anyway, just kind of frustrating. Also, I now have to make sure the house is somewhat clean so they don't judge me.

  • Good luck on your first day @SmashJam! That’s super annoying about the furniture but it’s good you’re getting a new couch.

We have no coffee in the house and my husband is being his usual self, sitting around like a useless lump staring at his phone. Trying not to get annoyed with him or stressed out because this is our last weekend as a family of 3 and I am trying to just enjoy it. Lots more mucus plug coming out over here but no sign of blood yet. I have my last acupuncture session today (unless I decide to schedule another one for Monday) and I really hope it does something.
  • Almost done with my first of three 12 hour shifts this weekend. Honestly tonight has been good. Some pains on/off but I’m not miserable. Night has gone by relatively fast. Hoping the next two nights go this well. Of course in the back of my mind I’m wonder if this “burst” of “energy “ is a right before you go into labor type of energy. Ha ha ha I can only dream.
  • @ashbub714 was it painful having the cervidil placed, or did it cause painful cramps after? Curious as I may be going in Wednesday night for cervidil. Last pregnancy I had the Foley balloon instead which really sucked. Good luck today, hopefully baby will come quickly!

@SmashJam good luck on the first day at the library! Can’t wait to hear about it!

@zande2016 gkadctou went to the reflexology place yesterday. I bet that  was delightful. As for coffee...I’d be marching to the store myself. Nothing gets in the way of me and my morning cup, ahah! That’s my one zen routine all pregnancy.

@elizabethrn87 dang, 12 hrs?! Please tell me you are taking some time and sitting during the shift!

@ashbub714 baby day! So exciting! FX for a smooth day for you!

Today for us is maternity picture day at the beach! We’ve been playing time by ear due to weather but we look to be in the clear. Last weekend off (took all week off - use it or lose it vac time) and excited to go back to work Monday and be in the >20 window til baby. Being home has been relaxing but I’ve done everything so I’m kinda bored.
  • @zande2016 @d_marie_23 it was painful having it placed. My first cervical check was yesterday at my office visit so I wasn’t used to the pain of that at all. Then suddenly I have one last night in the hospital AND then she places the Cervidil and that made the normal cervical check feel like nothing  :s I’ve read though that it doesn’t bother some people. I think my cervix was just so high it was hard for her to get it in place.
  • @ashbub714 ah ok. Having the foley placed was beyond painful for me, and then once It was in I had painful cramps for hours so it really sucked. Painful contractions are one thing because you know it’s making Progress but painful cramping that wasn’t even labor was no fun. But I’ve also read some women don’t find the Foley painful at all. Last pregnancy my cervixal checks were agony,
this time they’re just a bit uncomfortable.

  • Oh and @And846 I definitely ran out for coffee within an hour of being awake lol. But now my stomach is super unsettled so I haven’t had any yet.
  • It was 100f here yesterday!!! Seriously the house was an oven. I retreated into the room with AC all day but still was hot given all the BF and having a baby on your chest all the time (though I really don't mind!). Today we're in the 90s and then cooling down. Also today is DS ' official due date and our 9 month wedding "month-iversary" . Crazy!

@SmashJam yay first day at work! Hope you don't stress too much about the IL, do what you can...
@elizabethrn87 those are long shifts, hang in there!
@And846 I hope your session is gorgeous!
@zande2016 all the labor vibes, all the labor vibes!
@ashbub714 yayyy baby day, best of luck for a safe and speedy induction!

@SmashJam hope your first day of work was relatively easy!

@elizabethrn87 my goodness, you are superwoman! Seriously, I hope you’re getting rest for yourself.

@zande2016, all the good labor vibes and wishes your way!

@lindsayleigh1989 I’m a week out from my c-section, and my bleeding is pretty constant still.

Thank you (poster, I forget who) for the tip on extra bleeding equals too much activity!
  • @sm05-2 I had a vaginal delivery and my bleeding is down by now but this am I think I had some spotting from one of my stitches so I definitely have to take it easy today! The fact my recovery has been easy is a double edged sword because we have stairs at the house and I still go up and down a few times a day even though I'm sitting or in bed most of the time. Blah!

@SmashJam hope you first day at work goes well!

@zande2016 hope things start moving for you!

AFM it’s 10:30am and all I did today so far is get up for some breakfast and then immediately go back to sleep. I miss the days of sleeping through the night and only getting once to pee. Not that its happening again for awhile.
  • My mom is driving me nuts about giving Collin a pacifier to delay his feeding. Yes i get that my nipples can use the break but I’m getting engorged and having issues with him stay on the right side which is the one that produces the most. I don’t mind a pacifier for soothing like big diaper changes but not to delay feeding.

@SmashJam good luck at your job!

@elizabethrn87 you are a superwoman! I’ve been working from home mostly these last couple of weeks bc of my crazy commute and can’t imagine being on my feet that long. Power to you!

@zande2016 sending all the going into labor vibes your way!

Well we are currently in a heat wave and it reached 114 yesterday and our entire neighborhood is in a blackout as of 7pm last night. Luckily we were able to quickly pack up and take our dog to stay overnight at my parents but there is still no power. I had just stocked up at the grocery store and I’m sure we will have to throw everything out. Apparently there are over 47k people without power in LA. We are lucky to have family nearby to hang out with but this has been such an annoying situation. I just want to hang out at my own house. I feel bad for the elderly or those who can’t leave bc it was already in the 90s at 8am and no sign of when the power will come back on. Yikes!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! I thought I was there from 9-2 but I guess not, the lady wasn't ready to train me and basically asked me to leave, lol. So I'm back home. It was good though! I have this feeling that I will be spending Saturdays getting paid to read....fine by me!

@krystlerr That sucks! I'm glad you have family to stay with and can definitely commiserate with those who are sitting through the 90's with out air conditioning! God bless our window unit.

@krystlerr yeah it's been REAL NICE to be home with a newborn in this heat! WTF! Thankfully
We got that ac unit in our room and Milo has
Been doing well but I'm sweating all the time with all the breastfeeding, the pillows on me, and a warm baby on my chest! Sorry about the power outage, we're ok in OC but this needs to end!

@wildtot my mom asked about the pacifier as well, I was hoping to wait another week or so, I think for me it would be good for comfort before I latch him since when I wake him to feed he can get fussy right now I just used my finger because I know not to latch a crying baby! I've been doing warm compresses for my breasts and so far I'm ok, no cracking or bleeding thankfully!

Also just wanted to say all you STMs+ are amazing, I'm lucky to have a ton of support but I cannot imagine not having the luxury of napping and resting because other kids are around, I know you make it work and when you are a mom already you already know what to expect so that makes things easier, still...you're all badasses!!!

  • @SmashJam yay library job! getting paid to read sounds amazing - I've thought about doing B&N or something and going part time - but let's face it my paycheck wouldn't make it home lol
@zande2016 FX - just keep cleaning!
@elizabethrn87 you are a pregnant goddess! 12 hour shifts? DAMN!
@ashbub714 @zande2016 @d_marie_23 - cervadil placement was not painful for me at all and I've been told i have a "sensitive" cervix. Must depend on dr and cervix positioning.  Now having it REMOVED hurt like a B but that's because the cervadil was enough to put me into active labor and they FORGOT TO REMOVE IT until I was a 10 and it was stuck behind baby's head. Granted I went from 6-10 in 15 min so easy to forget it.
comealongponds - omg watch out with the pineapple - I ate a pound of it with DD and my mouth started bleeding >_< so painful.  I wish you luck - we tried all that with DD, only thing I never managed to really do was RELAX lol  I've been avoiding every OWT since I've been terrified of going before my CS on the 24th, I told DH i'm done tiptoeing though - LO's going to come when he wants to come and mama is having f'n Indian food Monday night! I'm sick of avoiding it.

AFM - i feel like death.  Headache, ear ache, sore throat, runny nose, cough on top of chest/back spasms/cramps and every baby movement is painful.  Didn't even get our date night on the new couches because DH took one look at me and brought waters up to bed.  DH is mowing and DD is napping so I was going to try to paint the dressers since the heat broke....got as far as dressing and then went back to bed with laptop to pay bills, cash checks, and now bumping like a zombie.

  • @SmashJam yay for 1st day of training!

@elizabethrn87 Bravo to you for still working!!! I've been on leave for a week...not going to lie, I miss working...

@zande2016 FX to labor happening ASAP for you!

@ashbub714 sending you positive vibes for a smooth-ish labor and delivery!

@krystlerr I'm glad you were able to retreat to a family's house to beat the heat. Sucks you might have to toss the majority of the fridge food. Hopefully the power comes back on soon!  It hit 114 here yesterday, too (north OC). Didnt get below 78 last night and now back up to 90 at the moment. It's the dry heat, too. Its miserable. Lol

AFM, Went swimming at a neighbors house yesterday. It felt soooo good, however I started to get really uncomfortable just being in water. So I ended up going to get a mani/pedi. Still no signs of labor. I feel betrayed by my OB for telling me I'd be going within 1 week at my 36 week appointment. I'm just going to let this little girl figure it out and come when she is ready, even though I'm anxious as hell.
Sitting here watching Westworld and folding laundry currently. I may dust and vacuum my room...may being the key word. May even bathe the dogs.

  • @ashbub714 when will they break your water? Is it too early still at 1cm?

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @wildtot the older generation get really annoying about pacifiers. I wasn’t using one either at first. MIL was VERY awkward holding DS and he would just cry when she held him. She kept saying he needed a pacifier and when I left the room, she told DH to get a pacifier. One time she even put his thumb in his mouth. That was the last straw and I just took him and told her not to hold him if she was going to do that.
  • I have been productive as hell today (with zero contractions). Picked up the entire first floor, swept it all, cleaned the vacuum and vacuumed the carpets on the first floor, and even did a little floor scrubbing on hands and knees, and a load of laundry. This morning I took the dog out myself and then took DD with me to Wegmans to get fresh bagels and stuff for making breakfast sandwiches. DH played with the kids all day---THANKFULLY! The kids have been productive with their crying, whining, lack of cooperation, fighting...I don't have the patience DH has so I was really grateful that they wanted his attention, he was giving it, and I could focus on what I needed to do. DH also did other chores when he had a chance but the kids are relentless. At one point he was like, I don't remember the last time I could take 5 steps without a child on my leg. We are both finally catching a break using a little TV time for the kids. Whew!

  • @ashbub714 hang in there and keep us posted! @flockofmoosen3 I was offered that at 5cm but I said no because after that they can't do cervix checks as often and in general it puts the baby on a time schedule since they want baby to be born within a certain amount of time to avoid infections I think. I actually refused to break it until I was almost 7cm, at that point I felt the urge to push and I just had to.
  • Wishing you ladies productive inductions @ashbub714 @noideawhatshesdoing!!

I’m skimming and love titting as I go... Good luck to everyone trying to get labor started! Nipple stimulation was the only thing to get contractions started for me- not that they were doing anything productive that I know of.

I forgot how exhausting newborns are. I think I’ve slept 4 hours since labor started Thursday night.
  • @flockofmoosen3 it’s too early at this point. They’re just trying to get me to 3cm so they can start pitocin.

@kissableviv @acunamatada thank you ladies! Trying to stay positive!

  • emsnedemsned member
@kissableviv Does that mean you conceived on your wedding night? That’s kind of amazing and something that I don’t hear much anymore!

DH went back to Nova Scotia this morning.  I am already struggling without him. It would be amazing if I could get the SSN and birth certificate within 2 weeks, and then apply for baby Hunter’s passport right away. But realistically the birth certificate alone may take 4-6 weeks.  I’m gonna ask if I can pay an additional fee to have all of these things expedited, because living with my in-laws is slowly exhausting me and I miss DH so bad.
  • @ashbub714 thinking dilating thoughts for you! It wasn’t my favorite thing but the foley balloon could help manually dilate you if the other stuff isnt working.

Just went swimming at my friends pool. It was nice to float in the pool but man I’m exhausted and ready to put my son to bed and then lie on the couch all night. Thinking Indian vindaloo for dinner, keeping those old wives tales going this weekend.
  • Haha @smashjam I was actually thinking last night how I really wanted to go into labor during the night, but also didn’t because I was so exhausted. What are you doing for nipple stimulation? So far I’ve just done it manually with no results but starting to contemplate getting the pump out. Not sure if I should or wait until the night before induction to try that.
  • @zande2016 I've tried manual but it just hurts so maybe I dont know how to do it? I was gonna get my manual pump out. Give it a go! Someone said their ob told them contractions would fizzle if your body wasn't ready so not super worried about doing it now? Maybe that's the wrong attitude?
  • @SmashJam i’ll have to see if i can find my manual pump. If not i’ll break out the electric. Just had indian, ordered my vindaloo extra spicy and holy crapppp if its true about spicy food then i’ll be in labor in no time
  • @SmashJam congrats on starting the job! You're definitely a badass for doing that at this point in pregnancy.

We spent the day at a public pool with DD. I wore a bikini, bump out. People are so nice and I feel like I got a lot of love from other women.

I'm fairly sure I started losing some mucus plug and I've had insane amounts of energy to get stuff done around the house. Hoping that means something!!!

  • I tried my manual pump yesterday and it did nothing at all. Wish I could have Indian food. It gives me such horrible heartburn and reflux now. Hopefully I can start eating it again after a few weeks PP.

So I just spent a bunch of time researching nipple stimulation and the one thing I’m worried about is it says there’s is a chance of uterine hyperstimulation but it seems like the chance is pretty low. I’m guessing the risk is highest with an electric pump. Most of what I read says it’s fine for most women to try but cautioned “high risk” women not to try it. So now I’m sitting here trying to decide if I fall into the high risk category. I mean the concern with GD is baby getting too big/placenta deterioration but the midwives have always told me there’s nothing obstetrically wrong with me/my baby. I think I’m way overthinking this one lol. I’ll just keep rubbing and massaging my boobs for now while I contemplate it some more.
  • sm05-2sm05-2 member
Hope you manage well with the pitocin @ashbub714!

haha, I didn’t know that old wives tale about Indian food. I was born in the US but my parents are Indian, and I had Indian food at least once every week or two throughout my pregnancy.

AFM, it’s 11 pm and I wish I were asleep. Baby has just fallen asleep, but DH is tinkering around getting more bottles for tonight (for medical reasons, I need to formula feed). I also need to convince him that we should go to bed earlier. I’m exhausted and still recovering from my c-section and all!
