Truly random question: farm the next town over who I know does not have a strawberry garden is selling strawberries, "fresh picked this morning." So, something that frustrates me is that htey went to the nearest strawberry farm and picked the berries at the cheaper you pick price, then sold them for more than it costs (both pints and quarts were underfilled too." Now, my problem with this is that its depriving other farms of the higher price they would recieve for those quarts and pints. DH says no big deal, the farm got their money they expected from the U-pick. I'm annoyed enough I might not shop there again. Am I being silly?
@SmashJam if i were the u-pick farmer and found out of the resell I’d be upset. Lack of respect for someone else’s hard work. But then again it’s business as usual in this country. It’s also up to the other farmer to stand up and say something if it bugs them. Could they maybe have a deal between them? edited words
@smashjam I guess they’re doing the work of picking the berries though right? So the higher price is justified by the labor? It still seems shady to the u pick place though.
My H finally was going to install this baby gate upstairs that we bought 2 months about and I’ve been begging to get up. It’s impossible to utilize the upstairs right now because my son wants to run around and I have to confine him into one room and he gets upset and has a tantrum. So anyway after an hour of drilling I get a text: “careful if you go upstairs. There’s a nail sticking out of the wall and it’s stuck.” Instantly feel my blood pressure rising. I’ve just come to the conclusion that we will literally never get the upstairs nursery/playroom/office area finalized. He’s too stubborn and has too much pride to ask for help so I texted my mom and asked if she can send my step dad over to fix it. Sorry, I don’t care about your pride, I need this done.
@SmashJam sounds shady, but I could see them charging for the labor of picking them. Does the u pick place sell pre picked strawberries? Maybe they have a deal like @wildtot said? That would bother me if they didn’t know about it.
@zande2016 how annoying- I’d do the same thing. Do what you gotta do and take some time to relax, you don’t need the stress at this stage.
DS has FINALLY been pooping on the potty. I couldn’t be happier. I am so sick of poo stained underwear because he’ll withold until he gets his bedtime diaper. I hope he doesn’t regress after baby and stop this, it’s soooo great lol
@acunamatada@zande2016 so two places around DO sell pre picked berries, but there is a place i just remembered about that isn't opening for U-pick because of their strawberry plants not doing great, and they are doing u-pick by appt. They also don't do pre picked berries there, so if its them, then I could see it being ok. It does just seem shady if it is one of the other two places and they are selling their berries for less. Also yay for DS pooping on the potty!
@zande2016 do what you gotta do, I agree. It's getting close to go time!
H had to work today and i am so exhausted. He took the car with the seat so even if i had the energy to go out i can’t. I’m having a hard time keeping DS entertained. At this point i don’t even have the energy to keep him from eating playdoh or rubbing it all over the furniture. I’ll just let it dry and vacuum later. A lot of my cramping and contractions seem to happen at night recently so there goes sleeping. Part of me wishes i can just start labor before my c section but then that screws up our help and leave plans.
Eta H just called to check in and i told him I was watching DS destroy the playdoh. He asked if i was playing with him, i said no not right now but i was earlier. His response “ you don’t play with him a lot”. Wtf? Do you need something or can i just hang up on you?! Try being pregnant with no energy. I cleaned the toys, kitchen, folded laundry, did DS laundry load, spent some time in the backyard with DS. Playing with him inside his tent, played with playdoh and just got tired of bending over. Just want to cry now because it never seems enough. How about asking me how i feel about not carrying DS for at least 6 wks and missing his cuddles. That’s hard enough to accept. So don’t tell me i don’t spend enough time with him! I wake up just to watch him sleep. What a dick comment.
@zande2016 while pregnant with my first I just started doing these projects on my own instead of making myself crazy waiting on my husband. If my dad was still alive, I would call him in a heartbeat for the harder stuff. At this point you are battling the clock and don't have time to put it off, so I would feel 0 regret for doing it myself or calling for help.
@wildtot sorry your husband is being a jerk. It really burns me up when my husband criticizes me for not teaching my daughter this or that, not playing enough, etc. I am with her allllllllll day every day. I play with her, teach her, BUT I NEED BREAKS. He finally backed off some when I started making him watch her by himself while I run to the cornerstore or something. He can barely deal with her for 30 minutes on his own...
@cseley321 H can deal on his own for the most part although what he feeds him might not be to my standards. I wish he would do all i do plus carrying around an additional 40 lbs. H usually won’t feed him or check to see if he needs a diaper change without me asking him to do it. No happy wife when he gets home.
@cseley321 I’d totally do it myself, but I have no clue what I’m doing with tools and stuff like that. He’s not great with it either but he’s better than me. Luckily my step dad is a general contractor and knows how to do everything under the sun but my H just has too much pride to ask for help. I, on the other hand, do not.
@wildtot ugh I’m sorry, ignore that stupid comment! You’re doing the best you can. My H is going to work today too and I can relate on not having enough energy to play. My son is currently watching Mickey while I lie next to him on the couch. I have a constant internal struggle of wanting him to watch less tv but being too exhausted to do anything with him.
@zande2016 idk how you do it with your Hs work situation. Your a saint with so much patience! DS watches more than I’d like on the weekends but usually he’ll get distracted and play with his toys. It’s more of a background noise half the time. H just called acting like everything is ok and if we are ready to go. Um no i haven’t even had the chance to shower since Wednesday! He doesn’t even think i should be upset by his comment and tells me to chill out.
My sister came by this morning with tubs full of clothes from my nephew. I'm dying at how cute these clothes are. I think a lot of the smaller sizes will be fine but I think we will run into trouble with some of the larger sizes since my Nephew was born in January as opposed to July.
@Nimmle I have a bunch of bags and boxes of girl clothes and shoes from 2 of my sister in laws. One of my nieces was born in September and the other in may. I've had to swift through quite a few. I realized that I should keep a few pieces that may seem too big for my lo during winter because she may be bigger and need those sizes. I would suggest keeping just a few of the ones that are off season, just in case.
@SmashJam People are going to make a buck any way that they can. Also, there is the possibility that they might have a relationship with the U-pick farm if that's where they are getting it from? I guess sometimes you just don't know.
@zande2016 Ugh, I hate it when DH is lazy and then when they finally get around to doing things it's half-assed. Is your stepdad going to make it over?
@wildtot That's frustrating. You've already been doing so much and for you to get on the ground to play with DS at this point in the game is alot. If DH came home and did all the laundry and cleaning maybe you would have time to play with DS
@acunamatada Fx for no potty training regression!!
@SmashJam you should see people in retail and the nerve the have when returning items. Nothing shocks me anymore about people.
@nimmle i can’t get enough of cute baby clothes but start asking yourself if you’d use it and is size appropriate.
Down to the wire with last few weekends off. Got all my errands done early so i could go to pool and float and read. Second i got there...Thunder and lightening.
starting to question my timinibg forckaternity pics. I scheduled them for 37+2.
@nimmle I think either tomorrow or during the week sometime. I’m already making my H a to do list for tomorrow and he dam well better follow it this time lol
So my H had a private party event tonight with the food truck and the people canceled yesterday because there was rain in the forecast. They asked to do catering instead. Normally they should still have to pay the $400 event deposit plus the cost of the catering they got instead, but these jerks gave him a bad credit card so it didn’t work when he ran it yesterday morning and then they called and canceled so he never ended up getting the deposit. Okay, whatever, the catering was only a few hundred cheaper than the food truck so at least they’re still making the sale. But he didn’t have to let them cancel like that and was really nice and accommodating and worked with them. He went and personally delivered the catering today and on a $800 order they tipped him $30. Which he has to share with the cook and the store worker who helped him. So he walked away with $10. The food truck has a 15% gratuity so he would have walked away with at least $50 if they hadn’t canceled (sharing with other workers). I mean whatever, it’s not like we need the tip money, it’s not the type of income we rely on, but it’s still just so obnoxious. This is what he gets for trying to go above and beyond for customers. Also, it’s not even raining. And he has to leave in an hour for another private party that is still having the truck so momma is on her own for bedtime again. Waaaaa.
My daughter is having fun at my parents' so we are finally getting baby prep done! All her clothes are now washed and put away, art work is up, crib is assembled and I'm about to go get the car washed/detailed and then install the car seat. I am finally feeling a bit more ready.
@SmashJam I don't see an issue if they are freshly picked and not misrepresented. He's gotta make some money somehow.
@wildtot the way your husband treats you makes me really really sad and angry.
@zande2016 that's obnoxious of the client, it seems like your H busts his ass for clients, some appreciation and a reasonable tip would be nice.
@runsomewhere I’m jealous of your kid free baby prep weekend! I think I probably only have one or maybe two more weekends after this one, and still feel very unprepared.
I guess maybe I should finally pack that hospital bag tomorrow.
H came home and of course started talking about working on his wood project the rest of the day. After the stinky eye and slight breakdown he is now in the garage with his project with DS roaming around. I am inside watch Yes To The Dress and eating Teddy Graham’s I hid from both of them.
Good for you @wildtot! I always wait for my son to take a nap or go to bed to take out the good snacks lol. I wish I could hide ice cream from my husband though.
Ugh @wildtot the stupid H’s just don't get it sometimes. During the first trimester when I had zero energy DH at one point said “you haven’t been as involved with her (dd) lately”. I told him I’m doing the best I can! And had to remind him what the 1st tri is like. Overall it’s a hurtful thing to say because of course you want to be super mom but carrying a baby and managing a toddler is a lot
Officially not answering my phone until this baby decides to make her appearance. My sister and her fiancé have FaceTimed me twice today asking if I’m in labor because they’re “looking for something to do today” As if me pushing out a baby is some kind of entertainment for them.
@acunamatada what the actual f! I’d be sooo annoyed. Also I feel like the most annoying and obnoxious pregnancy/childbirth comments i get/got last time always come from the people in my life who don’t have kids...and my MIL because she’s just an obnoxious person.
@acunamatada sounds like they are offering to clean your house and cook you dinner super annoying though, i don’t blame you for not answering. @zande2016 what a terrible thing with your Hs work! That’s a terrible tip for everything he went through.
My sister and I went and got pedicures today so nice!! And got all the baby clothes put away. I have way way way too many haha. DD had the most epic meltdown in target we are talking blood curdling screaming and crying the ENTIRE time we were in there.... it was awful. So looking forward to her bedtime
@acunamatada So sick of the "No baby yet?" comments around here too. They know I'm on meds to prevent preterm labor, so why are you wishing he was here at 36 weeks?! I usually like to throw back a sarcastic response, makes some people realize how rude their comments are. Why do people suddenly forget all common sense about boundaries around pregnant women with their comments? Ugh, one of my pet peeves
Tonight we went to visit my sister at the hospital I will be delivering at (she's fine, just in for some testing related to epilepsy that's she's had since we were kids) and as we were pulling in I said I was starting to get a little nervous about the whole delivery thing again and my husbands response was "me too, just get meaner and louder every time" then he goes on and on about how I was scaring everyone on the delivery floor and the nurses kept asking me to keep it down because I kept screaming that I was going to die. I told him to shut up and think about the fact that maybe I was doing that because I really did think I was going to die! He should try going from 4 to 10 cm in less than an hour and then having the baby shoot out on the first push. Not exactly a walk in the park dude.
Yay for the Gaines baby! Sorry for all of those dealing with annoying DHs who are making mean comments and/or working too much.
@acunamatada I'm actually going to not answer any questions I will for sure start getting around 39 weeks. I've told everyone I'm chilling and letting baby do its thing. I'm hoping to not even giving the news until we've had a couple of days to settle back at the house after baby is born. Thankfully not many people know my exact due date!
Good job to those getting baby things done! I got DH to set up the bags in the diaper genie, made my mom's bed, opened up space for her stuff in the closet and reorganized/decluttered a few areas. We had 2 bday parties today and went to bed late last night so we actually took a nap at 6pm until 730pm!
I ate terribly today, lots of pizza and sweets and I'm now craving donuts. Super!
Started off with one snotty toddler on Thursday, now I’m up to two snotty toddlers, one complaining husband who thinks he has strep and me with burning sinuses (so I should be nice and sick by tomorrow). Yaaaay. Hopefully baby girl stays put til we’re all healthy again.
@lindsayleigh1989 middle names are so hard! We decided on a middle name and since it started drama with my mom, H hasn’t gotten around to telling his mom because it will cause more drama. So ridiculous that they get upset!
Decided to treat myself to a pedicure and I’m annoyed. Baby is making me uncomfortable and the guy doing my pedicure is so annoying. Instead of telling me he wants me to switch legs, he obnoxiously taps my foot until I move it. It probably shouldn’t bother me so much but it does.
@wildtot I know it’s true but a simple “switch” would do haha. Now he’s massaging my leg/foot with rubber gloves on. Wtf dude. The rubber dragging across my leg doesn’t feel good.
So my DH found out he will be able to fly in late Friday but has to leave early Wednesday to be back in the time they want him to report. So thankful that they are giving him about 3.5 days off of his training to come home, although I wont be discharged when he has to go back which kinda sucks. Nonetheless i am incredibly grateful. So to add to my madness of DH being away on training for 6 months, the recent loss of our dog, an adjusting 6 year old, home renovations, preparing to list and sale our home, now high BP, and an induction scheduled in one week, my check engine light comes on my car as I'm driving today. FML.. as if I didn't have enough on my plate they think there's a leak in the engine... great. Honestly though I just kinda roll with it, if things are gonna go wrong it usually happens at the worst possible time anyway. Idk how I'm not stressed out about this, I'm just kinda like whatever we will make it work. Sometimes I look back on times in our lives and wonder how i made it through the way i did. This will be one of those times lol
It's been so rainy this weekend we've just been bumming around and enjoying the cooler weather before the heat wave next weekend. Got a portable air conditioner and its HUGE. Its gonna eat electricity, but it's worth it for peace of mind (i was worried about sids). Introduced DS to the movie Home this weekend and it's his new fave, which is cool because we love it too!
And the library people called Saturday to say they just needed to know about my admin license schooling, to make sure I wasn't gonna finish next year and leave them, which I'm not planning to do, and it sounds like they are gonna offer me the job this week. That's cool, but I have another part time job interview Tuesday which is taking a lot of string pulling on DH's part bc he has to be in an interview that day that's only 3 hours after my interview starts. So it would have been cool if they had let me know if I had the job BEFORE this opportunity presented itself because it's taking a lot of effort to make the interview work! Still gonna keep it...there's a chance I'd make my own hours and get away with 3 days home with my kiddos still. So we will see.
I’m glad several of you were able to get pedicures this weekend! I got one too with my friends! Then we had pizza and games with our families after. @SmashJam yay for a potential job offer! I hope they offer it on Monday so you’ll know if you want to keep your other interview. Congrats! @ethnomusicwhat @kbernal2021 I’m glad your husband will be able to be there! And I’m sorry about your car. They never break when it’s convenient.
@ethnomusicwhat congrats! Sounds like you made it through a pitocin induction without an epidural?
@kbernal2021 seriously when it rains it pours. Sounds like you’re handling everything really well, I’d be a mess. I’ve been driving around with my engine light on for weeks...yeah I’ve been ignoring it (I did have the code checked and doesn’t seem like anything serious but still). So glad your husband can make it for the birth though!
@SmashJam yay for potential job offer!! Good luck!
We worked hard on the house today...got most of our to do list done, but of course not all of it. And I now feel insanely sore everywhere. So happy I scheduled another chiro appointment for tomorrow. Really wishing we had money in the budget for a prenatal massage before the baby.
