Had my 28 week appointment, passed the GD test, got the Tdap shot, and they did some blood work. I did not receive the rhogam shot at this appointment because some of the blood work was testing for antibodies
Update: We passed the glucose screening! I just spoke with the nurse, not the MW or doctor, but she said thyroid was good (but I still think like 50 mcg is a high dose), and iron was just borderline on the low side. So we'll see if anyone calls to put me on iron supplements or.... maybe I'll start taking some anyway. Whichever.
@knitknitread the one hour is a screening to determine women at higher risk for gd- after which you do the actual diagnostic test. The two hour and three hour are the diagnostic tests that positively state whether or not a woman is diagnosed with gd. (Though the cut offs and criteria vary depending on which of three standards the physician is using- so there is debate about the diagnosis).
@knitknitread Welcome to the passed the GD test but found out we're anemic club. I've been taking iron for 5 days now and I feel so much clearer headed. I can't say for sure that it is the iron, but definitely my concentration, tiredness, and focus has improved yesterday and today.
@nackie I got my results through the portal with a note from my doctor the same day. If you don't have a portal and the office has to call you, I imagine it could take longer but I would call as ask if I were you.
How long has it been taking you ladies to hear back about your GD test? I took mine Tuesday morning and I’m getting impatient.
I think I got mine the next day. It depends where they run the test (in house vs send to hospital). Also they use the online/app MyChart thing so no one called my results just got posted wich I think gets results out faster.
@magnolia209 we do have a portal and I get an email whenever new results come in, so I know they haven’t just forgotten to call, but this seems like a long wait. I was just curious what others were seeing
Never mind, I just got my update email. I passed with a 110! Looks like my red blood cells count and some other numbers were way low though, so I guess I’ll be getting a call from the dr soon
@nackie yeah, I was seen Tuesday, too - theybtold me Thursday or Friday so I just called in yesterday to move the process along ;)
@magnolia209 omg I am so so tired today. My iron was only borderline / just barely below the range they want to see, but I did already pick up some slow release tabs to start taking just every other night, basically. I figure MWF will be easier to remember. I wonder if it will help me, too!
Ugh. Thursday morning was not my kind of day. I drank the gross drink exactly an hour before my blood draw time, then started our (usually 30 minute) drive to the doctor’s office. It took over an hour because of road construction and I had to reschedule for next Thursday. So I get to drink it again and deal with the crazy sugar crash. Yuck.
Just came from my appt, and she reminded me about the TDAP. I totally forgot and didn’t even remember what it was. So DH and I will be going to CVS or something soon to get it. Doctor also instructed me to stay away from my obnoxious co-worker who keeps commenting on my weight and telling me horror stories that do not pertain to me!
@ashh2018 how was the wait time today? Hopefully you didn’t have to wait too long. And I agree about the staying away from your coworker thing. She does not seem like a positive person to be around right now
@BusinessWife I hope it helps! I have to admit, I’m exhausted today (after my big talk this morning!). But I’m choosing to believe that the iron is really helping me overall.
@arbell615 Oh that’s horrible!!! The drink is so gross.
@klj0228 only a half hour! I felt like such a jerk. I was chatting with my friends and I wrote something like “just got to my appt; who wants to start a pool on how long the wait will be” and then I was only in the waiting room for 15 and then exam room waiting for 15. Which is really nothing, half of what it usually is haha.
Re coworker, my doctor said “There’s something very wrong with that woman” haha
I had my 30 week appt last Thursday and haven’t had a chance to update since I’ve been super busy. Had a growth scan that my husband and both girls were able to make. Baby #3 was measuring a few days ahead. Posted our US pic on the US thread and baby weighing approximately 3lb 2oz and we are still team green ❤️

But, I'm anemic (9.4 hemoglobin). So I get to start taking iron supplements
