I thought Skyla was a variant of Skylar, which is an American butchered form of Schuyler, which means scholar. Other than the word, Sky in it, I'm not sure I see the meaning connection.

Ceil is 'sky' in French..and it's feminine.

Alia is fine

Talia is 'dew from God' so I guess that's another way of calling her rain...definitely sky and heaven related

Of these, my vote (based on meaning only) would be Alia or Talia...either fit the bill perfectly. I do like the French, Ciel, but not keen on how you have it spelled. Skyla seems made up and not really connected to what you're going for. I'd just go with the word, Sky if you want to be obvious like that.

What about Lani (Noelani, Kalani), Sora, Nephele?

I'm pretty sure the Aaliyah spelling was a smush between a masculine name and the original, Arabic, Alya (also Alia and Aliyah etc.). It was made popular here by the singer who died.
