Symptoms Week of 6/4

Re: Symptoms Week of 6/4

  • Is anyone else thinking about bumping up their water intake again?  The last week or so, I’ve just felt kind of off, and I am wondering if I’m not getting enough water even though I’ve been tracking it and am making my intake goals consistently.

  • @knottieamusements I also have a new mole. Skin tags, new moles, and darkening of current moles are something that can totally happen with pregnancy!

Chriopractor said my pelvis is opening nicely. Lol good to hear but still made me chuckle.

The amount of pain I keep finding myself in is outrageous. I doesn't help that before pregnancy I had severe Lyme Disease arthritis, usually my hips hurt from sleeping on them, but today it's my back, the amount of pain it's causing in nauseating. And of course the Tylenol isn't touching the pain. Any advice for back pain? I've tried using the heating pad for 15 minutes at a time, but it's not helping, my back is making my ribs and stomach hurt.
  • @knottieamusements I'm bumping mine up today. My calves are cramping so bad even though I (thought) I drank plenty yesterday. Guess I need more.

I wouldn't say I've done it consciously, @knottieamusements. However, I have crushed 32 oz in 1.5 hours this morning...so unintentionally, yes; I am consuming more than I was previously.
  • @sammierose464 I'm having under boob rawness as well, it doesn't hurt... just looks horrible! @knottieamusements I upped my water intake because I've been feeling like shit the past couple days. I think there was a change/swing in my hormones that changed how my body reacts to sugar though, and that seems to have been the issue. My lifesaving carbs that kept me from getting sick everyday have now turned into the enemy, making me nauseous. I do think adding an extra 30 oz has helped though, especially with allergens being bad and weather getting warmer.
  • @knottieamusements
    @krzyriver

Im sure bumping up your water intake will help as well, but I just had an appointment with my naturopath/doula and she said that I am probably getting enough water even tho I still get some nasty leg and foot cramps. She started me on a calcium/magnesium vitamin since right now babies bones are starting to grow more and harden, she said baby is stealing all my calcium/magnesium and that is what causes most of the leg cramping. Maybe something to ask your docs about? Just a thought since I had thought it was due to dehydration too.
  • @jandmnumber1 Interesting. I actually just started taking a magnesium supplement a few days ago but forgot to take it last night. Maybe that caused the cramps. My calcium intake is definitely low too, I need to get better about that. Thanks!

  • I’ve been feeling like so much crap the last few days. Sore, exhausted, nauseous... I wondered too if it was water related so I drank extra yesterday and still woke up feeling like death. Hopefully it’ll just take a few days to catch up because I’m feeling like I’m back in first tri again.

@kaelynrayne did your arthitis not get better when you got pregnant?? I have some undiagnosed autoimmune symptoms (arthritis/arthralgia being one) and they got much better for me. I know it depends on the disease whether it goes into remission or gets worse. Sorry you're still feeling like shit! Can you try stretching/foam rolling? When my quads are tight, my low back hurts pretty bad. I also get massages to help, and I'm trying out a chiropractor next to help with sciatica.

ETA: my hips hurt when I sleep on them, pretty sure it's sciatica.
  • @sammierose464 Having similar issues under the boobs and on my inner thighs.  I put a little baby powder on there and it’s really helped! Smells good too!
  • 21weeks today

Aside from being sick I just feel tired and weak. I'm pretty down in the dumps too, hopefully that doesnt last long.  Heartburn is back full force and literally anything and everything brings it on. I've also been experiencing RLP which is new for me as I didn't have it with DS.

    +1 for the underboob issues
+1 for needing to increase water intake
  • I'm going to jinx myself, but I haven't had any heartburn yet. Just some general discomfort. I'm probably going to have a bald baby.
  • @sammierose464 I had terrible heartburn and the baldest baby. So there's still hope. Lol. And to add to @quiltandknit 's comment, you might want to try Summer's Eve powder spray for under your boobs. It helps with sweating/rashes/chaffing. I use it occasionally... my H is obsessed with it since he works outside and on his feet all day. :D It's less messy than baby powder, but just as effective.

+1 for team no heartburn! Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Update on my feet, they still itch it but the bumps and look of a rash is gone.
  • Ugh. Started having reflux yesterday. Basically anytime I managed to fall asleep, I’d wake up 20-30 minutes later coughing and choking on bile. Gross and painful. So now I’m going to have to prop myself into basically a sitting position to sleep.

I'll have to check that out. I use Pure Romance's Body Dew when I wear a skirt to help with chub rub between my thighs. But I don't feel like it will help under my boobs.
  • @jennybean80 I basically have a mountain of pillows on my side of the bed now to prop myself up every night.

Has anyone found anything that actually helps the acid reflux? My doctor told me to feel free to abuse the Tums before I switch to taking Zantac, but the Tums don't always do a whole lot for me when it gets bad. It looks like Zantac is safe, but Tums is basically just calcium so that is obviously a lot safer.
  • @acciocoffee Zantac is the only thing that works for me!

My arthritis got so much worse after becoming pregnant, since I already had back and hip pain, I've tried stretching and massaging it, but nothing seems to be relieving it. I'm honestly just at my wit's end today, especially since I'm having guests over later and I need to clean but can hardly move. Even breathing hurts cause it pushes on things that already hurt.

@acciocoffee A little baking soda in water has worked wonders for me. It tastes like cum if you mix it too strong though so careful with that. Also had someone tell me to drink a shot of raw apple cider vinegar. Haven’t tried that yet because I’d rather drink “cum water” than vinegar
ETA I tried mixing baking soda with green tea this morning and it tastes a lot better!!
  • @nmadjeski Does it matter what kind of Zantac? When I went to get some at Target a couple weeks ago there were so many kinds that I just gave up and bought more Tums.

@jynjer91 your description made me laugh! I totally forgot about that. My mom swore by the baking soda when we were kids. I'm going to give that a try! Edited bc laughing stopped me from reading your whole post. I've never used ACV but I know a lot of people swear by it.

@acciocoffee 75 for mild and the 150 for moderate. I have GERD to begin with so I use the 150.
  • So, I called my OB’s office about this this morning, and am waiting to hear back (likely tomorrow since the doctor is out and it isn’t urgent), but I was wondering if anyone else had had this happen or something similar.

Last night I had a very vivid (and bad) dream in which I was extremely dizzy.  The dream itself wasn’t quite to the level of nightmare, but definitely wasn’t pleasant.  However, when I woke up, I was completely disoriented- not exactly dizzy, but definitely surprised to find myself in bed on my side like I usually am.  I hadn’t really done anything differently than usual yesterday (food, water, etc).

Obvisously, it is the dizziness in sleep that bothers me; has anyone else has experienced this or heard of it?

Not being my best self this week. I don't want to complain because I've had it really easy this pregnancy and I'm super grateful for that, but just not feeling great emotionally. Been feeling super ragey at random times and this was the first week where I started falling asleep and then waking up in the middle of the night unable to get back to sleep because of weird concerns, anxiety, lots of random thoughts, etc.

Instead of winding down these past few weeks I've actually been doing a lot both at work and at home so I'm chalking it up to just being kinda stressed and overtired. But, I hope it resolves itself because I am not loving myself this way.

On the other hand, hungry pretty much all the time. Trying to make smart choices but I ate an entire watermelon this week, and it's only Thursday, so...
  • @acciocoffee do watch your Tums intake. There are some recent studies which are linking frequent Tums use in pregnancy with kidney stones later on. Too much calcium can be hard on your renal system.

  • @acciocoffee - Also, Tums can be a factor in constipation.  (I know that constipation goes with the territory in pregnancy, but something to consider.)
  • @kaelynrayne bummer :( that sucks.

I mentioned this somewhere else or earlier on here, but for those having heartburn, try eating less at each meal, if you aren't already. It's really helped me to focus on eating less than half of what I used to at each meal. And focus on eating slowly. And actually chewing my food.
  • My ENT, who prescribed me prilosec or nexium (can't quite remember which one at the moment) pre pregnancy for GERD, told me that I needed to be careful how long was taking them (or any medication in this catagory) regularly because there are no or limited studies done on women and the long term effect on the body. I was instructed to take them for a certain time frame and if it didn't get better then to go to and gastro dr. This all stemmed from my pregnancy with DS.
  • So the good news is that my terrible chin acne seems like it's clearing up a bit. It's been 10-12 weeks of this crap. I'm ready for some pregnancy glow!
  • Regarding Apple Cider Vinegar ... Dilute in water or tea! I can't stand doing a shot of it but I like it mixed with ice tea. Adds a nice little zip. Start with small amounts as when I started (pre pregnancy) it burned my throat but I think I was getting sick too so it was killing the crap in my throat. If you do a shot of it rinse your mouth with water. Leaving acid on your teeth is bad.
  • +1 to Zantac! Starting Sunday, I can set my watch to when my heartburn will show up, it feels like there is a mentos stuck at the base of my neck, and not in a fresh good way. DH now buys Zantac at Sams Club so I can have a bottle with me everywhere. Tums have been useless.

Zantac 150 is the only thing that helps me preventatively plus trying to avoid trigger foods like citrus, anything tomato based, and oily/greasy foods. I pop one in the morning (most mornings) with my prenatal vitamin and am good to go unless I eat something super sugary or greasy later in the afternoon. I also raised the head of my bed 6" and I think that has helped a ton. I had GERD pre pregnancy and when the heartburn started to act up in the first tri it was so bad that I'd go to bed with heartburn and be awake throughout the night feeling like I had to vom from the acid built up in my throat. Now I'm actually able to sleep most of the night and wake up feeling good even if I have slight heartburn going to bed.

ETA tums are useless AND leave a nasty aftertaste in my mouth so if I want something weaker than zantac I take a swig of mylanta. Helps with the gas too.

This! I also read that you almost need to gradually weaning your body off of it so it can readjust.

23+5 and my poor bladder. Baby is low, so I also have to pee a million times. I also pee when I sneeze, cough, fart or get kicked in the bladder. Ugh!!!

@knottieamusements I’ve woken up dizzy a few times, usually when I accidentally rolled onto my back. What did your OB say?
  • @rc-cola - rather annoyingly, I didn’t get a call back yesterday.   I’m going to take that as a nothing to worry about at the moment and talk to her about it at my next appointment.

Got a massive bloody nose today! Out of nowhere and it was just really bad and unexpected.
  • Baby is head up and I don't feel hardly any moment the whole day. Baby was moving a ton for weeks and now its stopped for the past few days. I'm gonna give it a few more days before I go to the doctor. I lost a big chunk of what looked like the mucus plug. I had a huge stressful situation happen last night to where I was hyperventilating for 30 minutes.  Concerned I have overly stressed baby this pregnancy. I felt baby hit my cervix multiple times and hit my hand if I put it basically at the bottom of the uterus i can feel the heavyness of the baby right at the bottom of m uterus. Just sucks hes positined this way as I do not want a breech baby I know he can flip but it worries me.

@momoflogan20 so sorry to hear you had such a stressful situation. I’m impressed you’re so in touch with your babies movements and positioning. I couldn’t tell head up/down for the life of me. I was reading today that even up to the 30+ weeks baby changes their position on their own so I’m sure the baby will reposition 1000 times between now and then so I wouldn’t worry about that. However, if you’re concerned about the baby hitting your cervix (I’m not sure if that’s abnormal? fTM here) and the lessened movement, combined with possible loss of the mucus plug I’d go ahead and give my doctor a call sooner than later if for nothing else but to calm my nerves. Good luck! Hope all is well.
