@cashewchicken I couldn't believe it when I saw it happen! The paci popped out of her mouth, rolled down towards her fist and she awkwardly put her fingers around it and pushed it back into her mouth. She was half laying down so gravity help alot but I was shocked! She had been placing her fists on the paci in her mouth since week 1 but this was the first time that I saw her fingers go around it.

I’m going to be looking at CRV’s or something like it soon. I recently bought an Acura TSX from my uncle (it was a great deal with low miles) which I love but the backseat is surprisingly small. So time to get something different. My husband has a new 4Runner which is amazing but I’m not spending that much on another car... no way.

@holls214 the crvs are awesome and a lot of “bells and whistles” actually come standard which is nice. The backseat is pretty roomy. At Christmas me and DH get the back seat to drive to my sisters 3 hours away and he’s 6’1 and isn’t cramped. We also looked at the rav4 which was slightly cramped and the Hyundai Tuscan was too. We tried to look at the Nissan Rogue but the dealership sucked and couldn’t find us a car to test drive. Guess they didn’t want the sale

@Holls214 My husband has a 4runner as well.  I love it, but they are pricey.  I upgraded from a small car to the Mazda CX-5 and I really like it.  It is a great size and really good on gas mileage.

@mbradfo2 Brooks will put his hand and toys in his mouth, but cannot figure out how to get his pacifier back in once he spits it out.  I swear sometimes he will spit it out just so I have to come put it back in his mouth.  Like its a game to him or something.

@JWatt5 Aunt EeOoh, that's too funny.  Luckily the pump I was using is super quiet.

I LOVED my CRV. With 2 kids we upgraded (I lease my car) and got a Toyota Highlander, if anyone needs extra space. It’s got pilot seats with a third row. If we have a third kid I have to give in to the mini van though... the Highlander would be tough to fit stroller etc with the third row in use, right now the third row is if I’m driving one extra kid or family or something. So for now I’m enjoying my days before giving in to the minivan ;)

@JWatt5 Parker is adorable! And I love his pants!

@omarismyhomeboy I owned a Civic for 13 years!  I loved that car but it was getting old and didn't feel comfortable driving a kiddo around in it so ended up getting an RDX last year.  Like all the ladies mentioned, CRV is nice and I was leaning towards getting it but my husband fell in love with RDX (so did I), so we went for it.  It's nice but I got to say wish the cargo area was a bit bigger... The stroller takes up most of the room.

Congrats on graduating from pumping!  Must feel so nice to not have to deal with engorgement, clogged ducts and round the clock pumping!

@MMD1986 Yikes.  Not sure what I'll do if a coworker walked in on me.  I think a coworker will be more weirded out than I will be, I guess.  After having my baby,  no fewer than 30 people saw my boobs at the hospital, including some random visitors to the NICU.  I couldn't care.  I needed to feed my baby!

@Polythene Pam  If we are ever lucky to have #2, we may upgrade to a minivan (my preference).  Or a large SUV (my husband's preference).  We recently bought a sedan to replace my husband's old compact sedan as it was a total money pit.  It was costing us several thousand dollars a year for maintenance when the car was only worth about $3K. We are going to try for #2 next year so it sucks to have to replace a car so soon but... oh well.

We had a CRV growing up; it was a great car then and still is! I like big cars but my husband prefers sporty. Oddly enough, right before my egg retrieval, my old car (2010 Fit) started having some major issues and my husband decided it was time to trade it in before it lost too much value....for a new car for him! So, I got his old Focus hatchback and he got the turbo-charged sporty Civic SI. In red, nonetheless. He quickly realized once baby arrived though, that his car wasn't well suited to carting her around (he actually was worried that the drive was too rough for her!) and we've been using the Focus. Seems good enough for now, I guess.

My sister got a minivan last year before her 2nd arrived and she's very happy with it. My mom got herself another minivan type car since she realized she would need 3 rows of seats in the back to fit 2 booster carseats and an infant one for when she's watching all three girls (my sister's 2 and my little girl). We probably won't get a minivan - or a new car any time soon! That was really stressful to have the car basically die DURING the IVF cycle (freeze all cycle for my FET in August). I remember sitting in the dealership and answering the update call from my nurse regarding the progress of our embryos haha.

What are your guys' opinions on tv/movie watching for the kiddos in the backseat since so many cars now have screens and such back there? I know as a kid I would have loved it, but now I'm just thinking that car time is a good way to get away from the screens for a time. I would probably allow it for long road trips though. For my sanity.

    @cashewchicken
I was just looking at your history in the sig and realized your BFP was the same day as my transfer! Funny how things go!

@mbradfo2 - I’m not against a bit of screen time with Parker. In the mornings since about 7months we’ve often watched a movie while he played with toys and I had my coffee and then we have breakfast together. Pretty much just watch Moana or Coco because he loved the music, only time he watches. So that being said, Ive made a few flights and long road trips and we have used our iPad mini on one flight and once drive home from the cottage. Both times Parker was getting pretty fussy or crying and being able to just watch some movie with music keeps him occupied. Right now, I keep a ziplock bag that I put the pegs of a headrest though to hold the iPad. Worked last time and plan to have it on hand incase he has another fit on the way to/from the cottage. If we get a van later, it’ll have a DVD/screens

edit - so far when used these trips have been 3+ hours

My husbands car actually has a dvd and my daughter doesn’t know about it. We save it for long car rides, otherwise it’s “broken” and she forgets. At age 4.5 though she needs set rules - if I get the tv today why not tomorrow? And if I put on a show, I NEED to finish it or I’ll have a tantrum. Nope not worth it ha. She has music and a book, my son just laughs at the ceiling so he’s fine ;) For screen time she really did need rules or she’d want it all day, so she has a show first thing while I feed Graham and get ready, midday (she no longer naps or rests so it’s the only way she’ll sit still for 30 min) and before bed while I get graham to bed. So far it works for us, there’s actually great shows (Daniel tiger, now she’s on Super Why) so I don’t mind it. Graham just giggles so he seems to like the shows when he’s awake for them. Plus I can drink a coffee in semi peace ;)

@hopeful_mom how has it been almost a month?! Crazy how time is flying by! Inverted nipples could make BF more difficult with latching. Hopefully you’ll get some support and answers to make it easier! But like others have said, fed is best no matter how that happens and there’s nothing wrong with doing a combo of both breastmilk and formula.

Getting a new refridgerator delivered today and hoping nothing happens to all the frozen milk in the freezer. Fingers crossed it all stays frozen! DH is picking up a bunch of ice and we’ll throw everything in coolers for a few hours until the new one gets cold.

Its crazy to think Abigail’s due date is next wed and she’ll be 7 weeks old then! My parents are coming next week and I’m so excited for them to finally meet her!

@Holls214 He is adorable and those are some cute pjs!

I just joined a general Facebook mom group for babies born in April 2018.  There are so many members though (like 2,000+) and it's kind of taken over my newsfeed.  I don't know how much longer I'll stay in it.  Plus I feel like with Brooks being 6 weeks early he isn't really on the same pace as everyone in the group.

I haven't been able to find a local one I like, so I just pretty much stick to the bump.
  • Options
Yeah, I'm in two mommy groups on facebook (one for under 1's, one more just general) but I like these forums better >.>
I think we must be going thru a leap or something now since she's becoming very difficult with food. She usually takes 4-5 oz every 3.5 hrs, sometimes more. Now she wants no more than 4 oz at a feeding, but she wants to eat every 2 hours. I feel like we've regressed a bit. :expressionless:  She's not falling asleep or anything; she's actively refusing the food at that point. She's not sick and otherwise she is perfectly normal (playing, sleeping, interacting). She's just being difficult when it comes to her bottles!

Maybe it doesn't help that I'm home all day and -can- feed her every 2 hours if she's hungry?

I love his janmies @Holls214!  She's great, still not latching but I'm going to see a LC next week so I'm not going to stress it. She's eating/growing/healthy so that's all that matters.  Her sleep patterns are super random...anywhere from 2-5 hours at night, which makes it hard to keep up with pumping when she goes for a long stretch bc I don't just get up to pump if she's asleep.

@Aera11 she is so beautiful. Sorry she’s not latching. I hope your consultant goes well. My little guy sleeps from 2-3 hours. 5 sounds delightful.
No I don’t think it’s weird to have baby fever lol. My hubs is already talking about the next baby as he dotes on this one. :)
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.

@mtpbadger awwwwww how cute!!! How old is she there?

was up all night again and I think this time it was more due to gas then anything else.  My boob was her comfort.  She would sleep for 5 min and then bac up after I would take my boob out...it's amazing!!

@Holls214 omg adorable and great pjays!!

@MMD1986 wow it's amazing how awake and bright eyed they are at 4months!! So cute!!

@mbradfo2 wow at 3months ur Lil one just wants 4oz and here mine is first gonna be one month and wants more then that.  I kno each baby is different and I'm finding it tough to keep up!!

@Aera11 awww how precious she looks so grown up in that pic!!  I'm with u my LO sleep patterns r all off!!! She just slept now for 4hrs and woke up screaming!! I pumped an hr prior to that and now I'm trying to breastfeed her so I shall see how that goes.  She literally kept me up all night eating....I guess to be continued for tonight....

@aera11 beautiful!!! Hopefully the appt with the LC goes well! Glad you’re not stressing!

@Polythene Pam nope not weird to have any fever! I’m already thinking about when to start trying for the next one. My OB had the birth control talk with me at my postpartum appt and I declined bc hey, the odds of it happening naturally are slim and if it does, I’ll totally be okay with that! DH said he’d be okay with just the one and keeps reminding me that a second might not happen but I think he’ll get on board fully eventually. We still have two frosties and I’m totally okay with going thru another retrieval if necessary

@hopeful_mom Abigail was 3.5 weeks or so at her pics. She had been out of then nicu for 6 days when we had them done. DH was hesitant about spending the money for newborn pics but as soon as the photographer swaddled her and starting snapping pics, he said it was worth every penny.

Honestky, seeing DH with her makes me tear up multiple times a day....knowing that it was such a hard journey to get here and never knowing if I’d get to see him with our child. Ugh hormones!

our doctor says he's concerned if he has parents say they sleep well at night! haha I think random sleeping is par for the course. We're at 3 mo here and still all over the place. She's up more during the day though, so she's getting to be a bit more fun than just a cute sleeping baby

    @mtpbadger
I get so weepy at various times over just thinking about how blessed we are to be at this place, esp. when I get updates from forums where ladies are still hoping for their BFP. It was a long journey with an uncertain destination but she's here now. She's finally here! I had really given up all hope going into the transfer.
