@shygirl88 I got the amnio results on the 8th day. But since a day after the amnio was the 4th of July maybe it took longer.
Hope you'll get the results soon. And yes, no blood test is 100% accurate. It’s only with CVS and Amnio that you really know if there is a chromosomal issue.

@rcultrona 3.7% I actually thought it was less but just looked it up again. It's not too low which makes me worried. Just want the amnio results already.
@shygirl88 hang in there! You would think they wouldn't report on an iffy blood draw but at the same time I have also heard that 4% is the magic number for a reliable sample...fingers crossed for the amnio results!
I was so sure it was a boy the possibility of being a girl never crossed my mind. Overall super glad baby is fine. My specialist said I’m sorry you cried. Thanks @scaredunprepared
So. It's been wild. Got first part of amnio back yesterday which said my AFP in the amniotic fluid was completely normal...great! Then i get the call today. Baby typed out XY, same as the NIPT did....so there are several scenarios. The one I'm really really hoping for is that they were just very wrong on the level 2 detailed ultrasound and im going through this stress over nothing. There is further testing to be done...starting with a repeat ultrasound hopefully very soon and then they will let me know what else. I'm supposed to get a follow up call tomorrow. Please keep my little one in your thoughts. I'll update when I know more.
@shygirl88 I’m glad the amnio came back normal but sorry to hear you still don’t have all the answers. I hope they got it wrong in the ultrasound!!! Hope you can have the follow up ultrasound soon!!!

Hello everyone. So the first ultrasound was correct. I had a repeat one today after pushing them super hard to get me in. Definitely XY chromosomes; and definitely female genitalia. So crazy to learn about all of this, also so super rare. Further testing is needed but most likely this will be a normal appearing female who identifies as female. However, internally she will not have female organs so will never menstruate or be fertile. I feel so badly for this little one and what is to come. I am still processing, it's going to take a while. My poor SO who wanted a boy so badly, got a girl after being told boy....and then also with "complications". He will need a lot of processing time as well. Overall, this is NOT the worst thing ever and completely manageable. Of course, other things could come up with the testing but unlikely based on the physical presentation. Turn around time is 3-4weeks for the testing and only explains the "why" in about 36% of the cases. Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts. @shygirl88 Interesting! Nobody knows how your LO will identify - maybe this combination will be perfect for them. A close family member is transgender (identifies as male, biologically female) and I know that he would love to not have a period! Regardless, sorry that sex identification is not strictly binary and that you’re learning this first hand. We’re the rest of LO’s organs in good shape?

@shygirl88 while i'm sure this is a lot of news to process, it seems like you are really putting it into perspective. I agree with @echo-charlietango and this little babe will be perfect just as they are. And I'm sure all 3 of you will learn and grow together as they are able to communicate their needs and feelings to you. Hopefully this is your only surprise and everything else goes just fine with this little love!
@shygirl88 I’m sorry to hear you confirmed that this is not a boy. I know how difficult it must be to get this news. But it and seems like these girls/women are normal looking female that identify as female.

@shygirl88 that is a lot of information to have about your baby. I can understand it is a lot to process. We are hear to listen if you need to think out loud about how you feel. I agree with others that your baby is a perfect little baby, and you are going to be a great mom. You’ve already been so good at taking care of all your baby’s needs.
@shygirl88 I’m so sorry that I’m sure this is confusing and obviously surprising news. It sounds like you are the perfect mom for her in that you are open minded and willing to figure this all out. Maybe it is good that you know all of this information...something that years ago would not have been available to you. If your daughter happens to not identify as female perhaps you’ll be more “ready” for that than most. Anyway I hope everything turns out for the best for your family!
Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has been nice to share with people who are in my same "state". Baby looked good otherwise, except that we are worried about IUGR/placental issues...another ultrasound another day. Let's just hope it's all good or minimal clinical implication. Hugs to you all.
Hello! From what I understand the NIPT is pretty accurate (I want to say about 99%). You’re perfectly welcome here, but we are all due in December 2018. You may want to find your BMB (May or June 2019?) and join their community as they will be having the same experiences as you now. Congrats!

Hope you'll get the results soon. And yes, no blood test is 100% accurate. It’s only with CVS and Amnio that you really know if there is a chromosomal issue.
