I keep going back and forth between feeling okay and immediately being worried about feeling okay, to having terrible waves of nausea, being miserable and being certain the first trimester will never end. This is so different than when I was pregnant with my daughter and it was just constant nausea. This is (somewhat) better, don't get me wrong, it's just more of a mindf*ck, especially with PGAL brain.
I've been having trouble staying asleep at night so my ob gave me a sample of bonjesta to try. She said it's basically B6 and Unisom. I took it last night at 8:30 and did sleep better... but I felt out of it basically all day. I assume it was because of the bonjesta since I haven't felt like this yet, though it could be that I've just reached a new level of fatigue. I feel so useless! I'm not going to take it tonight and see how I feel tomorrow.
@katem987@kadeephd@hallgire Thanks for the recs — I will have to try one out. Hopefully a glass bottle will last me a couple months before I break it?
@nerdeebird, I hear you, I’ve slways avoided glass bc I don’t trust myself, but if I can get through the worst of the ms, then I’ll go back to my trusty battered stainless steel bottle.
Headaches from the dehydration. I cry over EVERYTHING. Anxiety has turned into a giant asshole. I can’t wait for my OB appt to hopefully get some relief.
@hkom I had minimal brown spotting on Wednesday, yesterday it was a some brown, some red spotting when I pee I notice, and today so far I have had red spotting, just drops when I pee again. However, I did notice what looked like mucous-y red blood when I was showering last night, and it freaked me out. My OB says nothing to worry about, I have had cramps come and go in waves that she attributes to dehydration, but she said she doesnt feel the need to do the blood work to make sure I am doubling and thinks its just normal bleeding, irritation from sex, or placenta implantation. I am freaking out either way so I feel your pain. I keep googling as well, which I need to stop!! I havent had heavy bleeding but I dont know if miscarriages start off heavy or start spotting then heavy. I also thought I would be much more relaxed during my pregnancy, but that's just not true at all!
Phew! I knew many women had sore boobs, but its most women! My boobs are KILLING me. One has like doubled in size and the other is just, there! but they both hurt to do anything, at all. I am wearing a sports bra all the time because it keeps them from moving the most!! Also, I cry for no reason. Like mid conversation I feel my eyes welling up. Yup, not reason at all... and I am always tired, like ALWAYS. I had my first apt yesterday and my get small cramps in waves, they dont hurt just like that feeling like youre about to get your period, they said I was dehydrated. Let me tell you ladies, I am SO THIRSTY lately, that I am probably drinking 120-150oz of water a day. It's insane, I am a runner so I always drank a lot of water, but c'mon man! Also, I started having little drops of brown blood, mostly when I pee and I see it when I go to flush (they said it looks way worse in the water), and it barely shows on the TP, they dont seem concerned and say its probably either old blood clearing out and/or placenta implantation, but I had a freaking panic attack when I saw it for the first time. I am trying to relax, but my anxiety has gotten way worse since being pregnant.
Oh, and coffee=nausea. I was only drinking a 10 oz cup, but I cant even handle it now, so I have had a small headache for days now. It has to subside soon... Ill be using your hints to curb the nausea though!
We are living the same life!!! I’m like a camel every day w water and wake up in the middle of the night w my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth! And haven’t had coffee in almost 2 weeks - can’t stand it! Haven’t had the spotting - I get why that would make you crazy and I hope it goes away for you !
@KratzyInLove I haven't had any ramping other than what feel like the normal RLPs I was having before, but my OB said the same thing as well. I guess I'll just have to wait three more weeks til my appointment unless something changes. Ugh. I hope we both stop soon!
I haven't had any ramping other than what feel like the normal RLPs I was having before, but my OB said the same thing as well.
I had to google what those were and I think that's what I am feeling! It almost feels like what it feels like before you get your period, so hopefully that is just what I am feeling. I am sorry you have to wait 3 weeks, but you sound perfectly average!! Thank goodness. Luckily, with the mucous-clot last night and spotting, I only have to wait until Tuesday, but until then I just want to curl into a ball on my bed and cry all weekend! Thanks hormones I also think I fell asleep sitting up at my desk this morning, but my boobs stopped hurting randomly last night. So I dont know what to expect at the US.
So I joked about this earlier in the week, but is there a nice way to ask someone to stop wearing their nasty ass perfume? It is seriously so nauseating

That's so weird - for me they are totally different than period cramps! My cramps were always kind of a general pressure across my whole lower abdomen. But then when I had an IUD they were the most acute pain I have probably ever felt - right in my cervix. They were horrible. The ones I have now are a quick, sharp pulling or stretching sensation that only lasts for a few seconds after I stand up or shift body position too quickly, or when I have a big sneeze or cough. They showed up almost immediately after I got a positive test at around 4 weeks.
But I have seen a lot of people compare it to menstrual cramps. Seems like those can feel very different between women.
I'm glad you only have a few days left until your appointment. I hope it goes well and you can have some peace of mind for a little while
RLP doesn't feel like cramping to me. It feels like a super sharp pain that takes your breath away and then can leave a sore feeling afterward. Almost like you were struck by lightening, lol
My current problem - too nauseous to drink water but yet so dehydrated. I can't win! On top of that I caught DS's head cold. I'm smothered. My nose is so blocked that I can't breathe and I talk funny and my ears keep popping. Miserable.
Agreeing with @texas_t. RLP feels like there’s a rubber band that’s been snapped inside of me. I should know, I had a really nice bit this morning getting out of bed

“Hey Karen, can I ask you something in private? I think I’m allergic to your perfume. It’s lovely but it’s giving me terrible headaches. Is it possible to use less?”
I assume you’re downwind of her, and that her nose is so used to the smell that she can’t tell how much she’s wearing. Good luck!

ooh @echo-charlietango that's fabulous! thank you! there are four of us in an office and we all have cubicles, so we all smell everything the other does/wears
@nerdeebird I can't even think about coffee today. I'm still not nauseous but I just *know* it's a bad idea. My tea isn't as good as I want either today, but I would rather risk just slightly unsettled stomach than a killer headache later... @hallgire I wish I could have my coffee without feeling bad! I don't know quite how to describe it. Maybe it's that hidden or invisible nausea that people have been talking about. @lexidawg omg, I've been burping all the time the past three days. One burp had a tiny bit of something else in it... so I'm hoping it doesn't get as bad as it did for you! That's awful.
We have friends coming over for brunch and other friends coming over for dinner tomorrow... the past two days I've basically nibbled slowly all day on bland things until about 3 when I'm suddenly ravenous and can eat anything. So... I'm a bit worried about brunch. They're people that we'd probably tell in about 3-4 weeks, but not yet. They also know we really want kids and they have a three-year old so have been through it all. I hope they don't suspect anything! (Especially since we haven't told our parents yet. Telling the husband's parents this weekend. Mine are on vacation for another 2 weeks, so we have to tell them after that...)
@omnommer I feel you there. I was cautious with my first and she turned out just fine and I drank coffee (under the daily 300 mg allotment) and I'll be doing the same this time around. My OB said it was fine as long as I'm not drinking like energy drinks, 5 hr energy shots and the like. Or an entire pot of coffee. So I shall indulge.
@lexidawg Oh noooo!!! Feel better. I have this problem where I will do anything in my power to NOT throw up. Idk why I'm like this when I feel if I just do it I will feel better.
@kadeephd, I had the same experience with Bonjesta, it made me a zombie the next day. My SIL said that she took half a unisom at night while pregnant and it didn't make her a zombie the next day. I may try that if I get desperate. I was taking it because of both nausea and trouble sleeping. Both of those magically got better last night. I'm hoping against hope that is the end of that but since I'm only 7 weeks along, it seems unlikely.
Suddenly have heartburn after every meal. I had horrible heartburn with my daughters, but not until I was so far along they were practically living in my throat.
@hallgire I will definitely be returning to coffee when I think I can handle it! Just a cup a day, but coffee is life.
@wickedtiny I had one bout of heartburn so far. I talked to my nutritionist and she recommended carrying around "DGL Ultra 10:1 Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, Extra Strength Digestive Relief" in case it comes back. It's by a brand called Enzymatic Therapy. Apparently licorice itself isn't great because it can do something to your blood pressure, but once it's "deglycyrrhizinated" (whatever that means ) then it actually can help without being harmful. So now I have a bottle of the stuff in my purse. Haven't had to use it for heartburn yet, so can't say if it works, but I can confirm that it's flavored like chocolate!
@omnommer Iiiiiiinteresting. I had reflux all of the time with my last pregnancy and popped tums to the point that just thinking about them makes me feel ill now. I hate licorice but if it’s chocolate-flavored I’d be willing to give it a shot.
Also, my child came out with a full and luxuriant head of black wavy hair. I’m willing to put up with the same amount of reflux if it means I get that cute of a kid again.

@abowls Do you think you'll try cutting the bonjesta in half or just getting unisom? I didn't feel like a zombie today so I'm assuming it was the bonjesta that did it.
Oh my gosh! I have been having a mini freak out. I just got home from work and I started noticing some discomfort in my lower abdomen. At first I thought it was cramps, but then I thought that sometimes I feel like this when I'm going to have to take a number 2. But, it gradually become more uncomfortable and I tried going to the bathroom without much luck. I decided to go lay down and then the definite feeling of needing to go showed up and the discomfort went away. So, I'm wondering if I just ate something that didn't agree with me, but I was freaking out for few minutes, because I was wondering if they really were cramps and started to fear for the worst. I imagine it's ok though if the pain went away after going to the bathroom..I just never thought I'd get so freaked out over an upset stomach.
Woah. I went from fine 2 days ago to feeling like a pile of crap. I had to cancel my plans this evening because i just need to lay down. I’ve had nausea all day and o
@kadeephd, I won't cut the Bonjesta in half because it's a time release formulation (IIRC) and those are meant to be taken intact. I had already bought unisom because my SIL told me about it. When I asked the Dr if it was really ok to take it, he said yes but said the Bonjesta would be better. You're supposed to take it with B6. I'm already taking B6 in my magnesium supplement at night (I'm on progesterone shots every night post FET and I get awful muscle cramps from the progesterone if I don't take Mg) so I'll just try a half of a unisom.
@whitneyb89, I had horrible cramps Sunday. I was terrified as I was laying on the floor of my bathroom only sitting up to vomit from the pain a few times. It went away after 20-30 minutes. My nurse (I did fertility treatments so I have a nurse to ask) said that it was probably just really bad gas. She said that unless it's accompanied by bleeding I'm ok as long as it goes away. I had an ultrasound Tuesday and everything was perfect so I guess it just must have been the worst gas I've ever had.
@abowls Thank you for your reply! It made me feel better! I kept telling myself that I should be able to tell gas from cramps right?? But I guess it can be hard to tell sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad everything turned out all right for you!
@lexidawg@deutschmama I also feel like I got hit by a truck. Nausea comes and goes, but it’s just a general feeling of exhaustion. Have you guys tried the Tums chewy bites? Much better than the chalky ones, IMO, and they have some that help with gas too. I told my friend yesterday that I feel like a slug, just slugging around. It took most of my energy yesterday to walk to the bathroom from my desk. Accurate representation of me right now:
Truck hit me is exactly the way I would describe yesterday. Hopefully today I get some energy back, but at least it’s the weekend and H is home (albeit constantly working on his dissertation ). My son is also fairly independent, so if I need to spend the day loafing I generally can.
@katem987 The chewy tums are good until you start popping them like candy!

@PensiveCrayon lol, and they just came out with new lemon and raspberry ones! You know you’re pregnant when... you start getting excited for new Tums flavors. I was supposed to go to a winery with friends today, but I’m exhausted, it’s almost 2 hours away, and I can’t drink the wine. So I’m thinking that’s a no go.
Ya’ll... I am having the hardest time taking in enough water because I’m having aversions to water! Like seriously?! Of all the things. I’m probably only forcing myself to drink half of the amount I should be. Anyone else have this problem?!
@mag1cbeli3ver Same with brushing my teeth! It’s so frustrating! The nausea is pretty constant but brushing my teeth is the only time I actually throw up. I can only safely brush my very front teeth!
