Monday BF (April 30)

Starting this now because I suspect it is going to be that kind of day for some of us...

Re: Monday BF (April 30)

  • Omg u guys. What a morning. I was up every 3 hours to pop tylenol last night trying to fend off this migraine. It's slightly better now but not great. I threw up on my bedroom floor, and still feel nauseous as hell.

I was very close to calling in sick but we have our new VP starting today and would not be a good day to miss.

Hopefully nausea dies down by lunch and I can eat something.

  • Hope you feel better @nasalot188. I threw up after trying to think of what to pack for lunch...and thinking about the strong meat smell in my fridge...

My VP and I have been revamping pieces of our company vehicle policy. One piece is the order form that eligible associates fill out and then submit to managers for approval and then to a "fleet administrator" who will order their company car. We have been running changes by 2 of the more senior fleet admins (there's about 10 total across all of our divisions in the US). Every time we send it for review, they have MORE changes they want made. Which is a pain the a$$ because Ive already made it into a PDF form. And of course, every change they want is text related which means I have to re-do the PDF form fields. It's an annoying thing to have to re-do (and since it will be seen by directors and higher, we're very particular about how it looks). I'm just ready for it to be done...

@nasalot188 I hope you feel better!  Migraines are awful and migraines while pregnant and can't take anything are the worst
  • @nasalot188 Same here, although I don’t bother with the meds since they don’t do anything anyway.  I thought sleep would help, but no luck.  Hope you feel better soon!!

  • I was up all night too with a right lower hip/pelvic cramping pain.  I'd like to think maybe its baby kicking my right side but this feels more like when I get an ovarian cyst (I always get them on the right) and the little zingy pains have continued into the morning so far.  So uncomfy.  I havent had these since being pregnant... do you think anything to worry about?
  • I just generally couldn't sleep last night. I tossed and turned for hours. I seem to never sleep on weeknights and really struggle through the week, but sleep like a baby on weekends. It's annoying.

I posted this in WTF, but adding it here, because more has happened.  My son pooped this morning and flushed and everything went down. Then I peed and when I flushed the toilet overflowed and I was standing in a puddle of my own urine and plunged it, spilling more every time I moved the plunger.  Well, then I pooped in the other bathroom (yay) but ripped myself a new one in the process... and then plugged the effing toilet. We have one plunger so I had to go upstairs to get it and all the running up and down the stairs has made my migraine worse.  So now me, my bleeding butt and my migraine get to go out into the bright freaking sun get to go pick up two overenergized kids from preschool. Ugh!

ETA @linssears4 I had some stabby pains on my lower left side, lower than where pain from a cyst would be, almost to my leg, this weekend.  I’m not worried about it and assumed it was nerve pain.  That said, if you’re worried about it, you should call the dr.  They get all kinds of questions and it’s better to call and ask than sit there worrying.

  • @linssears4 Did they mention anything about a cyst at any of your ultrasounds? My doc has been watching  a tennis ball sized cyst on my right ovary and instructed me to call if I have any sharp stabby pains. But I have a history of giant cysts and ovarian torsion.
  • @SawyerRichardson  no mention of any cysts at last ultrasound.  I have PCOS so I'm used to small ruptures and this is what this feels like.  It actually has started to subside now that I BFed about it !  No blood or other unusual symptoms so I am worrying less at this point but if it comes back around I might call just for peace of mind.  I also have a check up this Friday so I will mention it for sure.  Sorry to hear about your tennis ball!  As if there already isn't enough room in there for growing things!!  Ouch.
  • I forgot my lunch today and was psyched when i realized there’s a Qdoba right by my work..... but the staff have terrible attitudes today. I will never order from this one again. Way to ruin people’s lunch hours on a Monday people.

Just in general, everything is irritating me today. I tried to set up a biometric screening at work, and they booked me for 10 am, when I asked for no later than 8:30 am. Now I have to cancel this appointment, because there is no way in hell I can fast until 10 am. Between the nausea and headache I will get, I would be useless all day. I'm just irrationally mad about everything today! Also, I can't get into my work email, so that's been fun too.

Edit typos because this app sucks

Being pregnant, they might have some exceptions for you. Mine doesn't require me to fast, and my coworker just had her dr sign off that she was pregnant and they didn't require it.  Frustrating none-the-less. Mine was at like 12pm this year, and I was only about 6w along at the time. I just didn't bother fasting.
  • @linssears4 I've had pain like that in my side/hip when it's been a while since a BM. I also get them sometimes when I'm dehydrated.
  • @sammierose464 turns out, they can't do that particular "off-site" screening for pregnant ladies anyway, so I need to schedule an appointment at the our wellness center instead. As far as I know, the only difference is this "off-site" one, located at one of our buildings, is a finger prick, whereas at the wellness center it's a blood draw.

Now I just need to figure out how I do my yearly well woman, and if my OB already did a pap for me??? :D
  • @jemmerjams My PCP doesn't even want to do my normal bloodwork while I'm pregnant. She said that nothing will come back normal, and even if there were some abnormal results she wouldn't begin treatment while pregnant. Although, I do understand why work is requiring it. My in-laws, DH and I were talking about it yesterday and DH was complaining about it all. Didn't care what I had to say about it (even though I know exactly why companies do it because it's my job...)
  • I thought I was the only one, but my boss hates me too. I feel like just bc I'm pregnant she thinks I'm incompetent at my job now and will nitpick at every little thing or create issues to be mad at me about when I'm trying even harder at my job than before I was pregnant! I'm about to throw in the towel. That kinda stress just isn't worth mine or the baby's health.
  • @sammierose464 I just have to do the blood work...I'm exempt from any requirements, thankfully. Just a paperwork exercise for insurance benefits. Sigh.
  • mrsgriseta isn't that the worst?  Mine also keeps making comments about my weight...I might poison her.  Like we ordered polo shirts with our logo for an event- and they were handing them out.
    Me: I ordered a medium
    Boss: Ha! That won't work!
    Me:...........

I know her job will get harder when I go on leave...but FFS she needs to get a grip on her attitude.  My baby (and current mental wellness) is more important than this job.

  • I got a long-winded bitchy email from a client at 4:54 pm last Friday, about how we'd taken "too long" (by their standards) to reply with some recommendations. Wasn't one I lost any sleep over. I even forwarded it to my boss and said "I don't have anything nice to say back to them", and he said I could ignore it if I wanted to. I've considered replying all day, but I still can't think of anything besides a very bitchy response back. It's just annoying to me that people can be such assholes. I responded immediately to their original request with an answer, then a day or two later they wanted something written. Which takes at least a couple days to go through our review process (when people aren't busy). They could've sent me an email and just said "Hey, we need this as soon as you can," and I would've happily obliged to push it along. Instead they bitch after I've already sent the addendum out. It's no big deal to me, but hormones make it extra fun. I just want to bitch over it too.
  • @nasalot188 Depending on where you are, you may want to try a topical cannabis / CBD for migraines. They don’t cross into the blood stream so don’t affect the baby but can be really effective. It’s the only way I can get relief from migraines these days (and to be honest, even before being pregnant I’d use it first and my triptans as. Last resort)
  • @Sailing_Mama hmm interesting how does it work? Do u run it on temples/forehead?
  • Just found out another sales person stole my customer. She is shady like that. I am also upset because if she stole my customer that means I wasn't doing as much as I should have for the customer. So I am pissy at myself too.
  • @SweetSweetTooth - Could it also mean that your customer was just oblivious to the fact that you work on commission, and just got intercepted? Sometimes, that shit isn’t about you, and what you did or did not do.
  • I ended up going to urgent care last night for the migraine I have had since last Monday. Nothing worked and ended up with an IV of magnesium and reglan and extra strength Tylenol. I also have a neurology consult coming up.

Sorry to all of you they have to deal with migraines! It freaking sucks.
  • cjx95cjx95 member
@momtobx2 I hope that helped it out!! And your consult goes well
  • @momtobx2 - oh no!  That’s terrible.  I hope you are feeling better.
  • All the migraine ladies, I’m sorry they are the worst! I hope everyone gets relief soon.

i know it’s Tuesday, but Monday was too much of a circus to even get time to BF about it. Someone didn’t do one of our ATMs correctly last week so it was down all weekend and people kept shoving their card in anyway. When it’s down the card reader won’t accept the card, but they made them go in so there was a giant pile of debit cards. Then the thing wouldn’t balance because of another issue last week. I ended up working on balancing issues all day that I only helped one person and we had a line to the door. I REALLY hope that today goes much better than yesterday.
  • Work has been piling up like crazy lately and I just don't have the time to complete it all. I keep taking my computer home saying I'll work at night, but it hasn't happened yet. It's going to bite me in the butt soon...
  • @momtobx2 Ugh that's awful - ER trips for migraines are the worst, with the lights and the noise :(

@nasalot188 I rub it on my neck and up to the pressure points at the base of my skull (sometimes a bit higher, if I know I'm staying home and don't care about greasy hair). I used to see a neurologist, and he said that even though they don't really understand migraines, there is often a link to the occipital nerves and that pressure point (I used to get occipital nerve blocks when the migraines were really bad). When I use the rub, usually within 5-10 minutes I can start to feel the associated tension release, and even if the migraine doesn't go completely, it becomes much more manageable. I have a lavender version, which is really discrete so I even use it when I'm at work if I need it.
  • Thanks ladies! I will bring it up with my doc next appt and see what she says. I have dealt with migraines my whole life so I'm 3ven curious for post pregnancy :)
  • Migraines suck, hopefully you can find something to help! Peppermint oil is safe during pregnancy and can sometimes help. You can use a "personal inhaler" to sniff or you can use topically with a carrier oil.
  • @nasalot188 I definitely agree with @sammierose464 to do your own research, just know that a lot of the North American medical community is still poorly educated when it comes to cannabis and it’s derivatives, due to it being illegal for so long (which meant you couldn’t do genuine medical studies on the benefits of an illicit substance). So you may need to do your own digging and research and then decide what you’re comfortable with. Just like how many of us decide that a glass of wine or a medium rare steak is okay, when the blanket medical statement is no amount of alcohol is considered safe and that all meat should be well done.

And to echo her other statement - if you do try natural alternatives that have essential oils, check their safety during pregnancy. For the topical I use, which I make myself, we make one version with just lavender for me, and one that has a blend of oils including some that I shouldn’t use for my husband.
  • @Sailing_Mama thank you for not assuming I was going against you completely. I agreed CBD oil has many uses, but I encourage everyone to make sure they are educated on it.

+1 for cannibas balm working wonders on headaches and sore muscles! FYI We can get “suppositories” here that are amazing for horrible cramps that nothing else will touch. I second doing research though and making an informed decision on using topical cannabis or CBD during pregnancy.
