@flockofmoosen3 We are also having mouse issues! We have reusable killer traps though I don't wanna drive forever and if I put them outside here they'll come back!
@zande2016 and @julybabybear we had some crazy wind here too yesterday! It alternated between monsoon rain and crazy ice and then towards the end of the day got kinda humid and a lot warmer. It's crazy! THere is probably 1/2 an inch of ice on my deck.
@runsomewhere I hear ya on the moods and needing to vent! We are always here! I love having this community to vent to because likely you guys are understanding and at least get that its hormones sometimes, and I can say all my stuff here before saying it out loud to DH.
Whoever said 77 more days until their due date made me look at mine...today is 100! so tomorrow I'll be in double digit days until my due date! I met my baby niece this weekend and told my bro and SIL that if I wasn't already cooking one she'd give me baby fever, lol. I'm so excited to meet this little guy.
@flockofmoosen3 We've been having mouse troubles, as well. I always thought they would come into the house when it's colder and when it warmed up they would be outside where they belong, but it seems like they are coming in now. UGH! \
LOL, these ads are very strange. I was ignoring them, but I just had to look. "Get Fast Business Loans" and "Very Dangerous Places on the Planet". Why, The Bump, why?
@lindsayleigh1989 the pop up adds! As I was scrolling this thread every time I’d love tit something an add would pop up. Soooool irritating.
@zande2016 sorry work is hard right now. I wouldn’t know what to say to my friend either if they were like that. Maybe that’s best though. Letting him vent a little so he can figure his shiz out and get over it? It’d probably be worse if you confronted him (maybe?). But it still sucks that your feelings are hurt.
We wake up at 6:15 to get my son up for school. Since I am NOT a morning person, I have two alarms to wake me up. The first is a warning and the second is “it’s actually time to get up.” Today I got everyone up at 6 on accident and now I’m irritated with myself that I could have had 15 more min of sleep.
Also: I realized that I have 5 appointments over the next two weeks and I’m stressing about what I’m going to do with my DD for most of them. My mil usually does all our babysitting but it’s usually a hassle to get her to do it. And I’d rather her take the kids for a date night instead of a doctors appointment. First world problems, I know.
julybabybear I'm in CT too - had to drive to OB around 1030 and it was FL-worthy monsooning! Then I got home and had thunder that shook the house. Saturday I was wearing a tank top, monday it's 40...I hate the weather in this state... if we're going to FL on Thursday I guess I better pack soon... at least my boss laughed his butt off when I told him I messed up and thought my flight was in the PM and not the AM when I put in my vacation request...
The ads are insane (imagine I have love titted everyone’s comments about the ads)
I never did kick counts with my first (my OB never mentioned it) and I don’t think I’ll have to with this one. He moves so much all through out the day I’m sure he’s fine in there. Follow whatever your OB tells you but both of mine (in 2 different states) have been pretty chill.
Yesterday was a 13 hour day for me at work.. that would have been a long day for me normally, but 27 weeks pregnant I think I need a week of sleep to recover... I did come in late today and have Friday off, so hopefully this week will fly by.

@MrsMiller8588 the pop ups are a reason why i don’t use it on my computer. That and i always seem to have issues with typing, like there is some sort of delay and drives me nuts when i type fast.
My sister just "surprised" me with concert tickets for this Thursday for an artist that I know nothing about/could care less about. Oh...and I have to pay for the ticket
It's an hour away. On a week night. I'll get home around 1am and have to be at work at 7:30am the next day. And I'm already SO tired.
@foxbaby2016 ... wtf? I absolutely hate gifts like that... I know I should be grateful of the thought, but when the gift is such an imposition is it really a gift still?
Oddly enough I am not getting the ads. I am using the mobile website on my phone.
Does anyone else recall past conversations in their head and then get mad all over again about it?? I was going to explain this but got nervous someone might read it and share it. My rebuttal to a rude and strange comment from my bff is all in my head (since I laughed it off at the time) and the original comment happened so long ago that bringing it up again to correct her would be weird.
Ughhhh I got a new phone last weekend and today while working from home, no one can hear/understand me on my cell phone. We don't have a land line and I really don't want to have to get one. I went from iphone 6s to iphone 8...wtf.
@MrsMiller8588 yeah I might do that. We changed from Sprint to TMobile but the phone says I have perfectly fine service. Not sure if it's the phone or the provider, or maybe both.
@zande2016 I feel like cell phones have become more crap in recent years since they became more of a standard/staple... Verizon made our house a deadzone so we have to do gymnastics in a certain corner of the house if we need to call anyone and our Droids didn't even last 2 years. My work cell is ATT which gets better service, i'm still using a Note 2 from 2013 which is on it's last legs but I'm terrified to switch over to the iphone 6 they found lying around right before I travel.
@zande2016 wtf, I hate that. I had to switch to Verizon to get better coverage and so far it's fine but I just don't understand why in 2018 we still need to play these games with phone companies! Also, I'm not sure I responded to your post about your coworker, that seems like an empty complain to me about your cases settling, it's not like you make the call! Blah.
I got 7 hours of sleep and woke up without an alarm, DH had been awake since 6am surprisingly because 'he had to pee" lol here come the sympathy symptoms! I'm feeling pretty rested but decided to take it easy and do emails in bed while drinking coffee. Hopefully it's an easy Tuesday for all of us!
Going to see Isle of Dogs tonight, pretty excited. DH and I splurged on Movie Pass ($83/person/year). You can see one movie per day and it's accepted at all our local theaters. We love movies and know that with the baby we won't be able to go, so we decided to go see anything we want until July! We've already seen 4 movies with the pass, basically already paid for half of it! Enjoying the last few weeks of splurges...
@foxbaby2016 what kind of gift is that if you have to pay for it and it's an inconvenience? I guess there's quality time with your sister?
@flockofmoosen3 I definitely do that, in fact I'm currently recalling a stupid comment that was made to me recently and trying not to get annoyed about it!
Solidarity to those dealing with mice. I've never had to and I think I would not do a very good job. Little bugs are already a problem, lol.
@kissableviv enjoy the movie! Seriously, I never thought pre-kids that I would miss going to see movies, but I do! We've only been I think twice in the 19 months since my son was born.
So I called my husband and asked if I sounded muffled, and he said he could hear me just fine. Then I took the phone case off to see if that made a difference and he said it was more clear, but he still says he could hear me fine before. I guess I'll leave the case off and see if I get any more complaints. Seriously, cell service around me generally sucks no matter what provider. I guess it has to do with the hilly terrain and millions of trees, but it doesn't help that some citizens protest new cell towers.
@MrsMiller8588 that sounds like a killer day! I do hope you get to rest on your Friday.
Today I went to visit a preschool for DS and within 5 seconds of walking in it was a NIGHTMARE. One person, 9 kids, maybe 2 DS's age (almost 3). One girl snuck out into the hallway and back in while we were there and the teacher didn't notice. This was enough for me because their playground is next to a river (fenced in) but I had a friend lose her grandson when the daycare provider lost track of him and he wandered into a river and I was worried about supervision out there even BEFORE visiting just based on that. Two kids made fun of DS and threatened him with fake power tools and the teacher didn't even notice. The person I contacted and made this appointment with wasn't in today and might have been on vacation. And as we were leaving 2 more kids showed up. So 11 children and one provider. I called the other school we visited and really liked and told them we wanted the two days they had if it was possible. I wasn't sure I wanted a structured environment for DS but after seeing this alternative, maybe I do?
@SmashJam that sounds awful! I looked at two preschools for my son for the Fall, both two's classes (kids have to be 2 by December, mine will be 2 in September), and the max class size for both programs I looked at is 12, but that's with 2 teachers, so it's a 6:1 ratio. I think it might go up to 8:1 for the three's program. 11:1 is just crazy! That river and lack of supervision would make me really nervous as well. What I really liked about the school we chose is the curriculum is play-based, giving the freedom and play-based learning and creativity I wanted, but it is still structured in terms of supervision and routines. Do you have any other options, or are those two the only ones?
@SmashJam I'm a kindergarten teacher in CT. Our Pre-K program only allows 1:10 ratio for 3-5 year olds, anything over and there has to be a para. Even in the daycares I've worked in, as a PK teacher, that's been the case. I'm sure it varies by state and accreditation, but even 1:10 is hectic. I always had another staff in the room, for safety alone even when there were under ten kids!
I'm wishfully hoping that by the time baby gets to Pre-K, that CT will have more affordable/better options for schooling here. Come on public school funding for Pre-K!!! This week, we're touring daycares for infant care and I'm so skeptical already.
@zande2016 the one closest to me has a waitlist and the one that I think I really want based on the school they feed into and their philosophy in general is in another town and we are #12 on the waitlist there. If the one I called today doesn't have my days as options anymore, then I will have to go further out of town, which isn't ideal, but gives me some options. Two days a week with only a baby to worry about would be great, and DS would get some great play time in without me there which is important, but I'm trying not to stress because we do a lot of cool stuff now that involves other kiddos so I don't think he'll be behind or anything. But the break...lol
I'm trying to catch up and jump back in. The past month has been crazy. The bump mobile app isn't helping anything so I'm back to logging in on my work computer 3 days/week.
Add me to the group concerned about kick counts. They always stress me out. I'm not 28 weeks yet but have a very active baby. But the last 24 hours I haven't felt her much and I'm trying to give it time before worrying. I feel her moving but it's more soft movements instead of her usual acrobatics.
I'm currently pissed at Amazon because we met the $1,000 threshold for purchases from our registry (we bought most everything ourselves and my MIL bought us our stroller) and we are supposed to get a $100 credit toward diapers and wipes. Well, it turns out its only select items of their choosing. No pampers diapers or wipes to choose from which is all we use for the first few months and then switch to Luvs. I'm thinking about calling and asking if they will override it and let me get the pampers otherwise it will likely go to waste.

@smashjam he will most definitely be fine if you don't enroll him in a preschool yet! I agree, the break would be nice, but I don't think you should feel guilty if it doesn't work out. We chose to do preschool early at 2 for 2 reasons, a break for my mom since she'll be helping us out immensely by watching both kids, and socialization since I think it's a bit much for my mom to take him out for activities when also dealing with the baby. If you already do lots of activities and he plays with other kids, that's all they really need at this age (in my opinion).
@smashjam that preschool sounds so awful! Have you gotten any recommendations from local moms? Anytime someone asks in our community FB group there are like the same 5-6 preschools mentioned and ours is one of them so it makes me feel good about our choice.
@julybabybear we had a hard time deciding on daycare in CT with DD - seemed to be extreme options between unstructured places with little to no security and supervision or uber structured places that cost a lot but don't live up to the hype. We've been at Kindercare for the last 2 years - overall we're fairly happy but it 100% depends on the center and the director. We pay $350 a week for full time - with an employer discount. We are thinking about switching to the center closer to DH's work because the director and assistant director we really liked transferred there. We are also hoping to get her into one of the magnet VPK's not this but next school year which will save $$$. My boss swore by nanny instead of daycare, but we like the peer learning of group setting.
@SmashJam I am a strong believer in going with your gut instinct...especially when it comes to the care of your kids. That preschool sounds terrible. I don't know if you remember but I was having issues trying to find childcare and I ended up going with the more expensive, more structured daycare despite my original plans. It's worth the piece of mind.
@foxbaby2016 I do remember! And you are right, I should go with my gut. My gut says don't put him in a crazy ass preschool just because its the only thing available! I will hold out and hope that the one we like still has the right days available.
ETA: Some good news in my world: I had a bit of a money meltdown yesterday that I managed to contain but came full force back this morning when DH was like, "why haven't you called to get shit changed on your Subie, our car could explode." We don't really have the money to get things that don't need replaced fixed on my car, but he insisted that I call and price out the cost of getting it done. When I first called he said it would be $400-500. Then he called back..turns out...we don't need them replaced on my car because my car is a newer model than my last Subaru and doesn't have them anymore! AMAZING. That's $400 extra bucks I don't have to worry about coming up with in the midst of our crappy plumbing problems and bathroom issues! Hooray!
@SmashJam Run, do not put your kid there. Like I've said before I am pro daycare/preschool and I think even young kiddos really thrive socially and emotionally in a "school" environment. However, safety and your comfort level are non negotiable when it comes to child care. Just reading your post made me feel anxious.
Regarding kick counts, my baby is pretty active and I can see and feel her move often. However movement still isn't super consistent and she does have days when I detect less movement.
Last night I hardly felt anything so I got a little worried but figured that at 27 weeks it's ok for them to not be super consistent. Then this morning still nothing. I started reading about fetal movement and its importance and of course got all freaked out. I called my doctor and and they told me you're always better off being safe than sorry if you feel like something is different. I got sent to labor & delivery for monitoring/NST. I still didn't feel much but I got monitored for 30+ minutes, her heart rate sounded great and you could hear that she was moving I just couldn't feel it for some reason.
So the baby is fine but the hospital reiterated that you really should call if you feel decreased movement and not to worry about over reacting. This kind of made me feel more anxious but I'm thankful I got checked out.
@runsomewhere glad everything is ok! sometimes I feel like baby rolls towards the back and is now still small enough that I wouldn't feel as much movement.
@SmashJam thank you, I agree I think that's what's going on now. She was moving and I couldn't feel a thing although it's normal for me to see my belly twitching and rolling with her movement.
I feel kind of silly about going in now but all I kept thinking was "what if I ignore it and risk losing my baby."
Never feel silly going in! I have gone in in both of my previous pregnancies for decreased movement and everything was fine, and the docs said the same thing yours did, to never feel guilty for coming in or calling!
My son went down for a nap a little after 1. He is still sleeping. I have tried to wake him up twice, at 2:30 and 3, and he went right back to sleep! All the doors are open, sound machine off, and he still hasn't woken up. I'm torn between dragging him out with a snack and some music or letting him go because he's still catching up, even though i may pay for it in the morning...
