Also, as a random, has anyone watched Schitt's Creek? I recently started watching it and think it's hilarious and DH can't stand it. I finally realized that the David character reminds me so much of my youngest brother, especially the episode he gets a job in the Blouse Barn. I was crying because I was laughing so hard because it was almost like watching a video of my bro.
Where do people buy their purses? I went to Target and hated everything. I am generally a fan of larger purses, with some pockets inside, and often in solid bright colors. And I don't want to spend a lot. I currently have a small crossbody, but like hobo and satchels as well. I just need something bigger and don't know where people look!
@SmashJam I shop target for purses but I agree that it can be hard to find just what you need there. I have had good luck in the past but I haven't looked lately. Maybe try a Coach outlet? My MIL and SIL love Coach and they do have nice stuff, it's just pricey. I still need an actual bag to fit my laptop and other stuff and Target hasn't been helpful there for me either. I found a beautiful and perfect Coach bag once but it was like $400.
Wish waxing places did like pregnancy packages. Like we’re you can come in however and they’ll take care of you. I can’t see any thing down there to prep for a wax. H just makes jokes if i ask him to do anything down there (but he would do it).
One of my best friends just asked if I want to go on a girl’s trip in August. She prefaced it by saying she was going to plan it sooner but remembered I’m pregnant so asked if I’d want to go in August. I just stared at the text for like 2 mins trying to comprehend how she thought I’d want to leave my newborn a few weeks afternoon he’s born...never mind the physical recovery of giving birth, and the fact that I’d be breastfeeding around the clock. It just reminded me of the fact that I have zero mom friends who understand my life now, and made me really sad. And also annoyed at my friend.
@zande2016 I'm in your boat. My bff also asked if I wanted to do a girls trip in August, and she suggested my husband could "babysit". I actually thought she was kidding at first. Also, my dad and older bro asked if I wanted to hike the Lost Coast Trail with them this summer, like end of June (I'm due July 5th). Um, no. I do not think that a 25 mile overnight rugged hike is a good idea.
@zande2016 ugh and hopefully no more bleeding by then plus all the sleep deprivation! Forget about about pools too if thats part of the plan. It’s hard not to be bothered by it but at the same time if they haven’t experienced any of this, it’s probably not something they know enough to consider. Is it a long distance trip? If not could you take part of a day or two to give you some me time?
@wildtot it’s a few hours away...maybe 2.5. I know she just doesn’t realize how hard it would be physically and emotionally for me, but part of me just couldn’t help but be annoyed because in general she’s a very selfish type of person and it’s hard for me to give her the benefit of the doubt with things like this.
Confession: I never even knew the bmb link at the bottom of the page was there until you guys started complaining about it being gone. This is kind of a game changer, so much easier! Haha
I am thankful to have a few mom / prego friends and a couple of baby obsessed friends who are really into this phase of my life, but others I'm sure I'll have a different relationship with. I'm honestly not planning anything until the middle of September when I'm hoping to go to Italy (and even that is a HUGE maybe...)
@SmashJam what's a purse? I just have a diaperbag now haha.
@zande2016 yeah it is definitely hard not having many mom friends. I highly suggeat joining an early childhood education class. Many places have them free or cheap from6-8 weeks and older. I met lots of new mom friends that way!
@lindsayleigh1989 I have wanted to since my son was born, unfortunately I’ve been back to work since he was 6 weeks old and all the classes/groups around me are geared towards SAHMs or for nannies/caregivers....there are things we can sign up for on weeeknds but it’s always been an issue of fitting it into the budget. I’d love to do a music or swim class or something. The free library classes are all in the middle of the work day
Brief hiatus but hopping back in- just skimmed through the week so far. Made it to DH’s conference to (not so warm) FL and back to CT... Aaaand we flew Southwest . We didn’t pay extra for the precheck and didn’t get to sit next to eachother either way. On the way back I got to sit next to a crotchety old man who was extra crotechty because the flight attendant asked him to sit in the middle so my 7mo pregnant self could be closer to the bathroom lol. But nobody got sucked out of a window, so it could have been worse.
Feeling like more of a lurker these days but I’d totally join a FB group if you’ll have me! I’m glad I missed all the glitchiness- it seems like TB is running fine for me so far now.
Quick bitch: we got a couples massage at the hotel and they didn’t have one of those maternity donut pillows for my belly so I had to do half of the massage on my side propped up on pillows- so uncomfortable! 75% of the fun/relaxation of getting a prenatal massage is getting to comfortably lay on my stomach.
@wildtot how does one prep for a wax? I’ve been debating getting one done later in the 3rd tri but I’ve never done it before! @zande2016 a good friend of mine asked me to go on a cross country road trip with him when DS was like 6 months old lol. I thought he was kidding, he was like “you can bring him, or maybe DH can watch him?” No no no. Sleep deprivation and breastfeeding along would be a hard no for me! @noideawhatshesdoing I love that show!! @SmashJam +1 for TJ Max, their quality is a little better than Target too. Every now and then I’ll treat myself to something from the Kate Spade outlet but I’d never pay full price for a purse @lindsayleigh1989 glad things are looking up for you! I need to get my life together, I have a laundry list of things to do to get DS enrolled in school and getting him evaluated for speech therapy when he turns 3
@acunamatada well the hair has to be a certain length so it would require trimming to that length. It’s personally just hard to know what I’m doing without seeing. I haven’t waxed in a while (i use to do Brazilian but too painful post c section so i started laser just a few months before getting pregnant). I’m thinking of just doing a basic bikini and clear up the cut area at the very least. Edited words and to add I’ll be returning to laser around September since i have a membership.
@zande2016 oh bummer. They offer evening ones here. I totally hear you on how expensive some of these tot classes are. I wanted to do swimming lessons but when I saw the price we decided to pass.
@acunamatada That sucks you had to do half on your side!! Hope the rest of it was awesome though!
@zande2016 I get annoyed at the lack of momma specific geared things at normal times. Since I stay home I don't have child care and all prenatal yoga and stuff like that is mid morning, or 4pm. It's like they purposely geared it towards women who are first timers and don't yet have kiddos or women who can afford to leave their kids with someone in the middle of the day to go to yoga. It's frustrating!
My La Leche meetings are at night, however, and I have met an awesome group of moms there!
@smashjam yeah I’ve always noticed that basically any activity geared towards women around me is scheduled for like 10am on a weekday. I know there’s a lot of women who don’t work outside the home around me but it makes me angry sometimes. Like when I was struggling to breastfeed my son, all LLL meetings near me were during working hours.
I am am so annoyed. As my H and I were getting into bed last night around 10, our son started crying so H went in to rock him. I fell asleep. I woke up around 12:30 to hear my son crying, and realized my H wasn’t in bed. I got up and found my H turning the sound machine off in the nursery and mid carrying our son to our bed. I was like what are you doing? He said he’s been trying to put him down for 2 hours and he won’t let him. I said maybe you should try letting him cry a few minutes, he’ll probamly fall back asleep. He’s like no, I’m taking him to bed. I was like well there’s not room for all 3 of us plus the dog (queen bed), and I know from experience my son needs a lot of space to spread out when he sleeps. So my husband goes fine I’ll sleep on the couch, and puts our son in bed with me, closed the door, and leaves us. For the next 6 hours, my son woke me up every 20-30 mins. I never fell into a deep sleep the whole night. He was whining and tossing and turning and I kept waking up to make sure he wasn’t rolling off the bed. I literally didn’t sleep, I have a pounding headache, my fasting blood sugar was high for the second time this week due to lack of sleep (and my doctors been threatening to put me on insulin), my back and neck are killing me from the position I had to sleep in, I’m over an hour late for work because I couldn’t wake up, did I mention I have a yeast infection? And I have to work late tonight and give a presentation at 6:30. And my husband had the nerve to complain that the couch was uncomfortable. I’m going to be breaking the 200mg coffee rule today.
@zande2016 oh that sounds so miserable! I totally don’t blame you for having all the coffee. And hopefully you’ll all be so pooped tonight that you have the best sleep ever!
Woke up this morning, got in the shower and washed my hair. Got out of the shower, got dressed, walked into the kitchen. My husband informs me that I hadn't rinsed the shampoo out of my hair. How does that even happen? *face palm*
@gspmom21 Welcome back! I hope all is well with your dad! @lindsayleigh1989 I am down for Facebook whenever it happens....I have a hard time staying "on top of things" here unless work is really slow because the mobile app never works for me. Facebook would be easier however, I enjoy the organization of this board so I'm 50/50. @zande2016 I absolutely hate when I lose my cool in front of my DS, which has happened a couple of times since I've been pregnant. It definitely makes you feel like the worst mom in the world...BUT we are human (very pregnant, very hormonal humans at that) and we are going to make mistakes. Still sucks though @noideawhatshesdoing I LOVE that show. Thanks for the reminder because I kind of just stopped watching it for some reason....I'll add that to my maternity "watch" list.
@zande2016 I'm so sorry, you must be exhausted... @foxbaby2016 that's pretty hilarious! @acunamatada sorry that the massage was disappointing but hopefully you enjoyed your time away!
For purses, I'm not the best person to ask:) I like expensive ones so I usually buy one per year (well, I used to when I had a corporate job) and spend a bit more, then I get the occasional $30 purse at Target. I must say Kate Spade always has sales going on and definitely colorful options so it's good for a splurge and you may even stay within $150. Other than that I agree with TJ Maxx being a good place to start with, Nordstrom rack also has a good selection around $80 for more durable stuff.
I am starting to get tired sooner at night and last night I fell asleep before 11pm which is rare. Did not wake up to pee and was awake by 6:45 with no alarm. I did wake up a couple more times but went back to bed. Hopefully today goes by fast because I'm ready for the weekend!
@zande2016 what a rough night! I hope you can get a restful night of sleep tonight! @foxbaby2016 pregnancy brain is REAL. Sorry, but I laughed at the image of you getting dressed and not realizing you had shampoo in your hair!
I will make the move to FB if that's the general consensus but I prefer it to be after babies are being born (or at least close to that time). I'm not really sure why that matters. Maybe because that's how my last BMB did it? As far as organization in the FB group we did a daily randoms post and people commented on that, there may have been a daily/weekly questions post also. It was similar in that they didn't want a ton of posts clogging the page but with a smaller group it wasn't as big of a deal. I think there was a baby pictures post once a week and they kept up with BF Monday, TW Tuesday, WTF Wednesday, etc.
I just ordered some silicone rings to wear since my wedding rings don't fit and I'm excited to get them! I feel weird not wearing my rings and hopefully these will fit for the remainder of my pregnancy. And I checked the clearance section of the website (Enso rings) and got two of them for $14 after shipping!

@Sarafuss I need to check Enso's clearance! Thanks for the suggestion. My wedding ring is still on my finger and at this point I'm not sure I can get it off! But it looks like a stuffed sausage...

@MrsMiller8588 they didn't have the style I wanted on clearance but it was $10 cheaper this way. I figured if I like them and the size fits I can always order more and get the other style I like.

@acunamatada glad u had a safe flight! About the massage I have gotten two prenatal massages and one was by a local certified expert highly recommended and both times I had to be on my side propped by pillows and switch sides half-way through. I figured that was the normal!
@SmashJam I really like fossil but I only ever buy from the outlets when they're having a good sale, my current purse was close to $200 and I got it for $40 and they come with with 1 yr warranties.
I'll switch to Facebook whenever, I think with the ability to reply to individual comments on posts it'll help things stay organized. I bump primarily from the app so I'm dealing with glitches galore over here lol
I am so stabby today at work. I love that the reports I have been working on for a few weeks now are finally done AND also completely useless and no one (including me) cares that they are done. It's a really good use of my skills and strengths. <-- lots of sarcasm in this rant
The full-time job that finally posted (I was asked to apply) is NOT at the staff rank or salary band that I was hoping for. Ugghhh...
@flockofmoosen3 I think it’s totally normal but it wasn’t as comfortable as one I got a month or so ago with the pillow (different place) but it was actually more expensive
Re purses: I'm bit of a purse snob. However, we go to Santee Alley in Downtown LA, where I get really nice purses for $15-$40. My sil's mom thought one of the purses was $600...no way would I pay that. When i can't get to LA, I go toTarget. Sometimes thirft stores have good finds.
@zande2016 I hope your day get better! @gspmom21 welcome back! I hope everything goes well for your dad. I'm all too familiar with cancer (personally and sibling). No matter what type, he will kick its gnarly ass!!
My boss informed me that I have to work overtime all weekend to get ahead for a deadline. He has yet to discuss my replacement for leave, though. Almost as though he is ignoring this part. It is extremely important the replacement is trained, especially before we launch our new site. He has 2 months to find a replacement... My brother had surgery on Tuesday to remove the tumor, lymph nodes, and ulcer from his rectum. They ended having to open him up because they found radiation blockage. Thankfully, he will not have to have an ileostomy bag! Hopefully he gets released from the hospital tomorrow. However, he is going to be recovering for at least 8 weeks. He will also have to have another round of chemo. His 3 kids and 2 dogs are staying with us until he recovers a bit more. It also allows my sil to assist him easier. It's been a bit of a challenge with 4 kids under 8 and 4 dogs. However, anything we can do to help my brother, we are willing to do it. We're just glad he is kicking cancer's ass!!!
Wow, @zombiehoohaa best wishes to your brother for a healthy recovery and for kicking cancer'ass for sure. I can only imagine everything you're going through and taking care of. Btw, did you end up moving?
We FINALLY have found someone on Craigslist who might be interested in our desk. It's an ENORMOUS glass top desk and it's crazy heavy. It's currently what's preventing me from finishing up the baby's room/office, so I'm hoping we can finally get rid of it. it's a nice desk but you can see how it's past its old glory. And the top is 200 lbs...yup, DH and I carried it upstairs ourselves and I impressed him with my strength. That was when I was in great shape and not pregnant!
@zombiehoohaa, what a kind and generous thing you're doing for your brother! Can't believe you're doing all that and will be working overtime all weekend, which really sucks.
Sorry about the job posting disappointment @flockofmoosen3, that's a bummer.
I learned that I passed my one-hour glucose test--hooray!
Also, is it strange to be excited to learn that I now have iron-deficiency anemia? Just started taking iron pills today, and have Colace on hand just in case. My OB said that my restless leg syndrome may be linked to the deficiency, and my fatigue has never really gone away all pregnancy, and I'm hoping the iron will eventually help. I know pregnancy fatigue is normal, but even if I could get some relief and be able to sleep better at night, that would be such a relief!
@kissableviv My mom was gracious to offer us to stay with her until the end of the year. This way we can save more money and gives us a bit more help when the baby is born.
@sm05-2 we do live with my mom and sister, so it definitely is a group effort. I take a kid to school, my sister takes a kid to school, while my mom watches the 2 that are not in school. It's been kind of funny to hear little voices through the bedroom door, telling you it's time to get up. Lol Also, I've been on iron since the beginning of my pregnancy and it's been so helpful!! I'm glad your OB put you on it and hope it helps!!
Adding to the purse recommendations I just ordered a cute leather crossbody tote from Madewell. They have different sizes and aren’t too $$. Seems like it will last awhile.

@sm05-2 we do live with my mom and sister, so it definitely is a group effort. I take a kid to school, my sister takes a kid to school, while my mom watches the 2 that are not in school. It's been kind of funny to hear little voices through the bedroom door, telling you it's time to get up. Lol
Also, I've been on iron since the beginning of my pregnancy and it's been so helpful!! I'm glad your OB put you on it and hope it helps!!
