  • Yay! I made it to second tri! Could you please add me to the list @businesswife? Due Oct 1st with a Girl!

How far along? 14 weeks, 1 day

Appts this coming week? I have an OB appt today!

How're you feeling this week? I have been feeling soooo much better the last few weeks. Morning sickness has decrease significantly (Hopefully it is gone... pretty please LOL!) I have had a horrible coffee aversion for weeks now and Easter I was able to have some.

Friday was rough though, spent hours in the drs with my poor little guy who has broncialitis. Thankfully he is doing much better with breathing treatments- having a sick baby is so sad! :( We still had a great Easter though and shared with our family (besides our parents that already knew) that we are having a girl so that was fun. My husband hit a golf ball that exploded pink. :)

@laurad75 thanks so much. Today has been the best day since I've gotten sick. The good thing is I am a teacher and have two weeks off for spring break so didn't have to use up my sick days.

Good luck at your appointment! My son had some concerns after the A/S scan as well but by 28 weeks all resolved itself.

  • @BusinessWife can you add me 9/30 not sure on gender yet.
    Thanks!

  • Hope everyone had a good weekend!! Feeling pretty good this week at 26w5days today. Had a friend visiting for the weekend so we did a lot of walking around DC and I handled it pretty well so feeling good about that. Definitely feeling like my bump looks bigger than 27 weeks, even though there i know there is no “normal” and I’m doing my best to embrace it! No appts this week and none till 4/10 when I’ll have a growth scan to make sure little girl and placenta are growing properly.

My friend bought us our diaper bag (she won’t be able to fly back for the shower) and also stuff that she used often to put in it and bought some cute little outfits which was so nice and thoughtful! She has two boys and all her other friends have boys so she said she is looking forward to buying girl stuff! DH and I also went to babies r us this weekend and bought all our nursery accessories before it’s too late since they stopped online sales (lamp, matching blanket to bedding set, stuffed owl that he was obsessed with lol) so it’s starting to feel really real!! Now I have to get some bins to start sorting clothes into by size- my friend said that was the best thing someone told her and highly recommends it since we’re starting to accumulate more.

Hi ladies! 18+2 today, @BusinessWife I’m having a boy :) and we had our AS today and got to actually see his boy parts lol. U/s are by far my favorite part of pregnancy so far. Everything is looking good and I am just so incredibly grateful. I feel great!

I finally made it to the BRU which is literally 1 mike from my house and it was already closed! Sent my mom to the one near her and she said the deals were just eh right now- mostly 10% off so I guess I’ll wait to see how much things come down.

  • Hi Ladies,

Thank you for taking up the board @businesswife!

I’m 21w+2d, no appointments this week

How am I feeling?  Well lets just say the Flu + Pregnancy = Awful

Sorry I’ve been like super absent.  Wednesday afternoon I got sick and felt like I was hit like a truck and have been in bed since Wednesday evening.  Ended up calling the after-hours nurse line for my OB on Saturday morning who sent me into the hospital because I couldn’t get my fever down or keep any fluids and ends up I have the flu (thanks for nothing flu shot).  It’s been humbling, yesterday was the first day I was well enough to watch tv, today I warmed up my own soup..baby steps.

I think my boss thinks I'm faking...I basically had to tell her over text I’m too sick to work from home.  Sorry but when coughing makes you throw up and pee all at the same time and your doing it constantly AND spending most of your time in the bathroom with the shower running for steam so you can breathe there isn’t much work to be done but trying to keep a hold of your bodily functions.  I'm really hoping I won't have to use FMLA for this absence which will shorten my maternity leave.

I’m also feeling guilty because I’ve been taking all this over the counter medicine which was all approved by the ob but still I don’t like it.  I’ve been taking Tylenol like candy to try to keep the fever down and of course I come across some article on facebook saying how moms who take Tylenol while they are pregnant doom their kids to behavior disorders and ADHD.  So thats great…sorry for the rant.  I did turn the corner and am on the mend so I’m hoping in a couple days I might actually be functional again.

@chicandbubbly welcome!!! Congratulations on your little girl such a cute way to announce the gender at easter!  I hope your son is feeling better soon.

@laurad75 I’m so thrilled you are starting to feel the baby move!  Isn’t it the best?!?!  Mine has taken to jabbing now I’m wondering if I’ll still feel the same happiness about it in a month or so.   Hope everything goes a-ok with the echocardiogram today!

@marimarii welcome to the second trimester!  I’m sorry your sick too but glad you went in and got it checked out.  I feel you on the sick and pregnant thing.  Horrible.  Hope the meds get you cleared up soon.

@mtpbadger embrace the bump!  Sounds like you had a nice weekend in DC and gifts from friends are wonderful.  I couldn’t believe how real things started to feel when we started putting things in the nursery.  We haven’t done anything in a couple weeks because of busy/sick but I I love to peak my nose in and go oh yeah its real.  So wonderful!

@lablover78 YAY confirming the little boy parts…lol!

  • @lablover78 My mom and I went to the BRU near her this past weekend and it was all 10% off.  Pretty poor for a ‘liquidation sale’.  Especially when buy buy baby is 20% off with a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon.  Congrats on the great A/S

@irisheyes81 People are so weird about pregnancy conversations.  For me they always seem to go in the directions of ‘we never had that in my day…’  I happened to mention to an aunt at Easter that because of the placement of my placenta right now I may have to have a cesarean  and she went on this rant about how they tell you too much these days and why do you need to know that… well aunt ‘know-it-all’ if they weren’t aware of this problem and it didn’t shift I could die during childbirth.  So there’s that.

AFM: our appointments went well today.  The echocardiogram was delightfully non-eventful and everything looked just fine.  He wasn't as cooperative as we would have liked but the fellow doing the scan kept showing me that he was all tucked in and hiding in his hands like he was playing peek-a-boo.  Then we went to our regular OB appointment and my doctor was very reassuring that this is likely nothing to worry about and we will have the answers soon.  The good results from the echo was step 1 of being in the clear.  She thinks if next weeks scan goes well I probably don't have to have another for several more weeks.

@2MomsHoping so sorry to hear you got the flu, but really glad you are finally getting a little better.  Flu during pregnancy is scary and I'm sorry your boss is making you feel stressed too, that is no bueno, they should be more understanding.  I'm glad you took care of yourself and have not been working at home.  You should probably really rest all the way so you can beat it. I hope you don't have to take FMLA, but it will be worth it so you can get better if you do.  Sorry for being bossy overbearing internet person, just worried about you! haha. Don't worry about the tylenol, I don't know for sure, but just taking it for a brief time isn't the same as through your entire pregnancy.  When I first got pregnant, I had the idea to take pm tylenol at night to help me sleep.  I stopped and only took it once or twice, but that would be an example of taking it too much for not the right reason.  You need it to get over your fever which is more of a risk to the baby at this point, IMO.  So I don't think you should feel guilty. Also you inspired me to switch household cleaners too.... I do still paint my nails, but few and far between and I haven't gone in the nail salon.  I had my husband help with my toes, haha.  I did get my haircut last week and was worried about the women getting their hair colored in there, but wasn't too long and again, few and far between.  Moral of the story- You are doing your best and you are doing great!

@Irisheyes81 I agree people are very strange about pregnancy conversations.  I seem to get all the horror stories from everyone, I don't understand why people can't just keep it positive. I've even had 2 men I barely know tell me about their entire fertility details, TMI people!!

@lablover78 congrats on seeing the boy on the ultrasound! : )  We saw ours a few weeks ago and the technician made a funny joke counting 'one leg, two legs, third leg'. haha

Hi @chicandbubblyand @marimarii welcome!  Glad you made it to second trimester and hope you feel even better in weeks to come.

How far along?   18 weeks this week from today or tomorrow

Appts this coming week?  Don't have an appointments this week, next appointment is for anatomy scan next Tuesday at parinatal.  I am very nervous already.  I won't be seeing old man scary doctor again, but it is the same office and they are going to be inspecting everything so thoroughly.  Most likely everything is great, just makes me nervous.

How're you feeling this week?  I am feeling pretty good physically, just tired.  I thought I maybe felt the baby move a little when laying down the past week, it feels like fluttering when I lay to go to bed.  But haven't felt it as much past few days, I guess it is still early so I'm trying not to worry about it. At one point the thought kind of freaked me out that it was alive and moving in there- we must all admit, it is a bizzare situation!  haha  I am looking forward to when my husband can feel too.  He'll really like that.  I also read ahead through my entire mayo clinic baby book last weekend.  It was pretty intense going through labor and whatnot.  I plan to do all the medicine and epidurals and I feel confident in my hospital.  But it was intense learning and thinking about it all, going to make my husband read it next.  He also has a book for husband's specifically which I think I'll have him start with.  The Mayo clinic one is very medical and does not gloss things over for sure!

    Baby shower anxiety:

My anxiety is really bad today and I am feeling down.  People are starting to ask me about baby showers and it is a little stressful just because of my situation with my inlaws.  I had lunch with some friends last weekend and they offered to do a little friends only shower/brunch for me.  I told them presents are optional, but they will probably get me a few things.  This is nice because they are a younger crowd and I always feel it is torturing them to make them sip tea with old ladies at a shower.  The second group is my dad's family, he passed away about 4 years ago and I see them mostly at christmas or maybe 2 times a year.  I am going to reach out to my step mother and tell her I am pregnant and then if she asks about a shower ask if we can do something with just their family.  It is such a big family that it should be fine.  She wanted to do a wedding shower for us and I said no so I could do one large one that my mother could attend also.  So I figure she will ask again.  I have bought several presents for them over the years so they will most likely reciprocate.   So that leaves my mom and and some of my close friends and their mothers.  This is about a group of 10 people which would be a better number at around 15-17 if my inlaws came.  I was thinking of just inviting my mother in law, 2 of her friends and 2 of her family members, and just not inviting my sister in law.  But, I considered this for a few days and it sparked nightmares at night and bad anxiety. So I think the plan for now is to just avoid them.  A group of 10 is just fine and these women are such long time, close friends it will still be fun.  If anyone asks I think the excuse I am going to use is 'they are going to do something separate for me' and leave it at that.  Although all these women know the true story.  lol

    In law drama update:

I put an update on my post last week but basically my sister in law and mother in law don't understand that they did anything wrong. Turns out my sister in law did not apologize- all she said was that 'she wants to apologize but needs us to help her understand what she did wrong'. My husband finally took a turn and really got my back.  He finally understands and sorted through his own feelings on the subject, landing on that he is upset also.  He sent them a very good email he wrote himself and even has a 2nd and 3rd round email planned following their responses.  I am trying my best not to ask about it for the remainder of this week and into mid next week.  I have enough anxiety about the doctor appointment next week, so I am trying to give myself a break and let him handle it.

    Postive Affirmations:

I am still focusing on my positive pregnancy affirmations and I turn to them when very anxious.  I also have a list of positive things I am thankful for I turn to and read down when I feel down.  This has really helped me today.  I haven't been nearly as down as after the whole inlaw thing happened, but I am still feeling it here and there. So the other thing I have been thinking about lately is the fact that we are probably only going to have one child.  One boy was always our dream.  But people have made several rude comments to me that have made me feel weird about it and I am bracing myself for more.  Basically I've heard 'it is selfish to only have one child' and from my crazy MIL 'you aren't a real mom until you have at least 2 kids'.  Both comments are BS.  I really hope I can live my life the way I want and be happy- I am so blessed that we got our boy and hopefully everything will turn out great!  I think I have just realized I might not want to become pregnant again and all the physical challenges and anxiety has been tough on me.  I think I've also realized that I'd like to have the time and money that come with the only child and dedicate my attention to him.  I was wondering if anyone else on here plans to have an only child as well?  #oneanddone

  • @2momshoping so sorry girl, feel better and you are doing the right thing keeping the fever down.

@hottietoddy I always wanted lots of kids but life happened and then IF happened so I’ll be turning 40 just after this little guy is born (that’s crazy to write- um how am i that old?!) and DH is 46 so we have sort of decided this is it. I’m so grateful b/c for years I believed I would never get to experience motherhood at all. I wouldn’t feel guilty at all and anyone who makes such comments is out of their mind. I have several friends who were only children and are happy, successful & well adjusted individuals. I hear ya on the anxiety pg produces- not sure I could handle the what if’s again!

  • HDBD in spoiler on my really tiny weird work mirror.  I hope it's the right size. I've never added a pic before.

Last night, my husband finally felt the baby kick! He thought it was crazy.  She would always get scared and stop kicking when he would put his hand on my stomach.  It was a fun moment. A year ago, we didn't think we would get to experience any of this!

    @2momshoping how are you feeling?

@Hottietoddy It sounds like you have a really good plan for the baby shower situation. Having 10 people for an intimate gathering is a dream.  If you gave people gifts, they will buy you something even if there isn’t a party.  Your affirmations are awesome! I would say (not that you asked for advice) look through the lens of your baby in five years.  Imagine if you would be disappointed with the relationship with the in laws/not inviting them or sad that you spent time and anxiety on them during this very special and precious time.    An apology isn’t going to help you or change anything.  The damage is done and they clearly don’t get it and it’s unlikely they will.  You have to think of you, your very supportive husband and your baby first.  I have two frozen embryos and would love for my daughter to have siblings but we plan on deciding when the time comes.  There is nothing wrong with one.  Nothing. Your mother in law is an idiot.

@mtpbadger Thanks for the encouragement about the weight gain.  My sister in law had a baby 4 months ago and gained 20 lbs.  She’s 10 years younger than me and is SO skinny but I couldn’t help but compare.  I love your diaper bag! It’s perfect! Great advice on the diaper cream.

  • @irisheyes81 I think you look fantastic!! I totally get comparing. My sister is teeny tiny and maybe gained 15-20 pounds total when pregnant but was all belly and could even wear her regular pants the entire pregnancy. I feel like my bump is already bigger than hers was, even though comparing is totally pointless! My friend over the weekend even commented that she wasn’t expecting my bump to be this big when she saw me....not in a negative way at all but still made me a little self conscious!

Just got notice from mh OB that I need to start taking an iron pill. My count is on the low end of normal so almost anemic and it will continue to go down as the pregnancy progresses. Guess I’ll be running out to target tonight so I can start it in the morning.

  • @mtpbadger you look fantastic as always. You have the cutest clothes and best baby bump in the world  <3.  I started iron early on for the same thing and it makes me so constipated.  Whatever though, I was already constipated before and talk about it way too much.  Hopefully it doesn't cause any side effects for you and helps with the levels.  I heard cooking on cast iron is supposed to help too.  Or eating liver.  Gross.

@BusinessWife An Easter bump!!!! you're so adorable!! Sorry you're feeling so tired.  Is it because you can't sleep or work is busy or still some pregnancy exhaustion?  I can't sleep. I wake up a few times a night to pee or because of some crazy dream so I'm tired too.  I thought that wasn't supposed to happen until later :)

  • Ewww, liver. No thanks! I'd rather take the iron pills and deal with the constipation. We have a cast iron skillet so maybe that'll be an excuse to use it more. I have to say I am horrible about eating red meat and need to make an effort to do better. This top is actually not maternity! Gotta love Kohls! Sleep is an issue here too - I usually wake up at 2-2:30 to pee and then this little girl decides its time to have a dance party and I can't fall back asleep.

@business wife you are looking great! Love the dress!

@Irisheyes81 and @mtpbadger I have been taking iron pills since before I got pregnant and one small tip- I take two heaping teaspoons of benefiber every night.  It is gentle and much better than metamucil or any others.  It doesn't have any artificial sweeteners or additives and dissolves clear and tastless in water or any drink.  The iron will probably help you feel like you have more energy if you are low. I have always had stomach issues and the benefiber doesn't bother me.

@mtpbadger - I had to look it up, but to do the spoiler just select the text or image you want hide then click on the paragraph sign in the tool bar above and select spoiler.

@BusinessWife you inspired me to post my first HDBD pic... you look cute and yours is similar in shape to mine and we are similar in timing. heehee.  Love your dress!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on my inlaws and other stuff.  I always feel so much better after hearing your input and so thankful for this group.  I am thankfully feeling much better today already.

HDBD below and sorry for guest room mess- all that will be gone soon and replaced with new baby furniture!  But until then still a mess.

  • Hi All!
Have been absolutely SLAMMED with work this week, but trying to do a better job of checking in earlier as I love the community!

@2MomsHoping I'm so sorry to hear about the flu, that sounds terrible! I get the feeling of weirdness with work too as I've had unsupportive bosses in the past, but you just have to take care of yourself and the baby as #1!

@Irisheyes81 and @laurad75 I've been in a nasty mood for the last week because I'm sick of all the pregnancy comments! I guess we all knew this was going to happen, but I hate how people are just coming out of the woodwork to comment on how you look, birth plan, day care plan, etc etc. Like, I don't care about your opinions! I snapped at my father in law last week because he always asks me how I'm feeling (which is sweet), but then he seems disappointed when I say I feel fine! I'm like do you WANT to hear that I'm puking my guts out every day?!

I'm super jealous of all your bumps! I'm not showing at all :( I've dealt with body dysmorphia and disordered eating for the last 5 years and I've been waiting to finally feel comfortable with not hiding my stomach! I've only gained about 2.5 lbs despite feeling like I'm eating well, but I've been absolutely ravenous today so hoping this little nugget is due for a big growth spurt!

  • @hottietoddy. So cute!!!  :D

@Irisheyes81. Mostly it's all the pregnancy exhaustion, but also not sleeping great.  Gotta love the weird pregnancy dreams!  At least last night's were not too disturbing, but some were really icky earlier in the week.  :(

@50Wife Oh my stars, your bump is so beautiful!  <3
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

  • Thank you for the tip & compliment! It’s not maternity but was always a little big, hoping to squeeze a few more weeks out of it.

  • Hi all, I think I go here now!

How far along? 14+1 (EDD 10/3)

    Appts this coming week?
Nothing ‘til the end of April, and I’m still adjusting to how few and far between they are.  Just did NIPT and NT screening in last week, all is clear!

    How're you feeling this week?
Mostly okay. Springtime allergies are just starting to kick in, so it will be interesting to see how they go with the lingering nausea...

@Irisheyes81 @mtpbadger @hottietoddy I’m on iron, too, and was told not to take it at the same time as my prenatal. When/how do you space out your vitamins?

    @2MomsHoping hope you recover quickly!

Loving all the HDBD pics. I don’t really have anything to show, yet, though I definitely feel fuller, if that makes sense.
