@knottieamusements I am plus size and this is my third baby so I am already firmly back into my maternity clothes. I way prefer the full panel because it is more comfortable for me - it stays up and doesn't roll down/bunch under my belly, and it kind of smooths everything out so it looks more round bump-ish and less fat rolls on top of bump. I also highly recommend maternity underwear - I thought they were a waste of time and money with my first and decided to give them a whirl with my second - game changer in the comfort department!
Those are the places I'm considering too. I want one online and one brick and mortar. We don't have a Buy Buy Baby close to us, but there's one about 20-30 min away so I figure people might go there.
Personal preference: I prefer full panel. Only because when I was plus size I felt like the side panels cut me and were uncomfortable. It’s also been 9 years since I bought maternity jeans so I’m sure things have improved since then. I have liked my belly band. I’ve used that to extend the life of my jeans and haven’t had any problems with rolling thus far.
@nayyohme with DS my shower was the last Sunday of August and I was due October 18th. I was induced October 4th and I had plenty of time to get the things I still needed.

I'm loving the full panel. I didn't even try on the side panels. I carry all my weight in my belly already, so anything pressing on it is uncomfortable now.
@knottieamusements Super not helpful, but I think side panel vs full panel really is a personal preference. I was not a fan of full panels especially early on. Until there was a nearly full sized bump, the top was constantly rolling down. They’re also hot since they basically add an extra layer. But I know other people who loved them.

The full panel I just bought from Target is lower in the back to prevent you from getting too hot.

It seems to be the go-to place for registries at my office, otherwise, I’m not sure I would register there. I kind of don’t like registries at all, even though I know why people use them.
So I have been in maternity pants for 2 weeks now and I have definite opinions on them. I am fairly small to begin with, but the clothes/jeans I normally wear are very skinny/tight, so the jeans were becoming severely uncomfortable. I have tried both full and side panel and I am LOVING the full panel. It takes all the pressure off my lower abdomen and they are all stretchy and I feel like I am wearing lovely pajamas all the time. They are magic pants.
@kiwi2628 your description cracked me up. Any particular brand?
This. I’m normally a size 4 and the smallest maternity jeans at target didn’t fit me last time until the end of my twin pregnancy. I wore dress clothes most of the time since I was working, so I never bothered to get more jeans, but this time I need them. The hair tie isn’t working so well for me anymore - my pants were simultaneously too tight across my lower abdomen and falling down today, which sounds impossible, but apparently isn’t.
@sammierose464 I saw this article today about those “lovies” pacifier holders being recalled. It doesn’t list the fox one, but apparently the snap can fall off creating a choking hazard. I had the giraffe on my Babylist registry so I removed it...hoping I can find something just as cute!

Agreed on the hair tie not working. I love my belly bands, mine are big enough that I could fold them in half to wear them like under belly maternity pants or pull them up all the way to mimic full panel. If that makes any sense...
I also have a pair of “jeggings” that stitch fix sent me. They are amazing, no button, no zipper, wide elastic waistband. I wish I could wear them every day but alas, not for work. Fortunately my dress pants for work are looser wide leg styles so they still fit as is for another week or two. And then I will belly band them also!
I’m normally a size 2/4 so I’m worried that actual maternity clothes will be too big until my belly really grows.
@kiwi2628 good to hear...I just bought $300 worth of pants from PinkBlush in an attempt to find something that will fit...Issue is, my thighs are too big for some of the large pants (couldn't even get it over the thigh lol) and I think my waist/hips are going to be too small for plus size. So hopefully one of those new pairs work!
Score! Target had a couple pairs in my size on the Clearance rack - that weren’t pre-ripped. (I honestly don’t get that fashion trend.). I bought both a side panel and a full panel to see which works better for me.
I love full panel for late 2nd/ 3rd tri. For 1st tri/ early 2nd tri I like the Demi panels, but I don't like buying so much clothing so I grab the full panels and make due lol. I'm a size 2 regularly and have luck at old navy and gap. They also have tall sizes which are a huge score for me since I'm 5'9". Also pea in a pod has my favorite jeans but they held up the worst (and we're also the most expensive).
I’m with the “love the full panel” group! I tried a pair of inset panel from Target thinking they would be good for the beginning stage and then during the weird postpartum body stage but I find by the end of the day I’m pulling them up all the time. Plus I feel like they make my bump look weird. I second @hellopartyof5 for the smaller ladies check out Old Navy/Gap and H&M, also you can order smaller sizes from Target online.
A question related to the bump itself...for the past few weeks I have felt really bloated, but the past few days the bloat seems to have gone down and my belly is smaller but “harder” if that makes any sense. But still bigger than. I was pre-pregnancy. Has anyone else had this shrinking in between the bloat and the actual bump?
@quiltandknit while I already have a little bit of extra around the mid-section, I did notice this. It was like full squishy air bubble with bloat, then a few days with not much bloat, and is now much firmer when I press on it.
First pregnancy, I preferred side panels. For some reason I'm liking the full panel this time. The nice thing about the full panel is that you can always just fold them down. I did that in my first pregnancy and it was fine. I just hate when you can see the line from the full panel ones across your belly. It looks so dumb.
@acciocoffee I’m with you in that stupid line too! Right now I’m wearing shorts, dresses and workout capris! I live In FL so jeans are put away now and so uncomfortable
I’m hoping to find some confirmation that I should calm down and not worry! I work as a kindergarten teacher and tripped on my skirt this morning on the carpet. I fell onto my knees and I think I’ll probably be bruised on at least one. No impact on my belly at all though some children did jump and hug me worried that I was hurt. I feel fine other than the cold I’ve been nursing this week. I have my NT scan today so I will be getting an ultrasound this afternoon. Hopefully everything looks good! What do you think?
@jenchoo I think the baby is pretty well protected in there and would not worry unless you’re having spotting or cramping. But the timing on your NT scan is perfect this afternoon.
