DH and I watched the first episode of the Netflix show Nailed It yesterday, and it was hilarious. As someone who loves to bake (and admittedly doesn’t make things that always look “good” even though they taste great) I thought it was so funny. Can’t wait to watch more of it.
It’s raining in my house. This is under randoms because it happens so often it isn’t even a wtf. The kids noticed the carpet was wet and realized the pool wasn’t under the leak, so they just moved it and didn’t even tell me it was leaking. (Yes, we have a pool in our playroom - it used to have ball pit balls in it and now we just use it to protect the carpet from the rain.) It’s the skylight and we keep trying to caulk the part that leaks, but apparently aren’t getting it. It is definitely better, but leaks so rarely (depending on direction of the wind/rain) that it’s taking forever to fix.
I am counting down the minutes until this weekend and my good friend from SC comes in! We get to go eat at my favorite restaurant in Columbus. Quite a drive but who cares I love food.
also I have been needing new material to watch! Going to add Nailed It.
Dang it I already failed an made my first post in last week’s! Hahahaha!
For reference:
I found the randoms post! I was a big contributor last pregnancy, but this time I’ve been so hesitant to post because...stuff. Anywho, hopefully after my apt next Thurs I’ll feel a bit more confident in here!
I hope everyone’s feeling extra energetic and the nausea b**** has lifted her magic for some of you!
@DunkinDecaf I was taken off guard by it. I was stretching to stop a ball from rolling in the parking lot and DD’s soccer game. I squealed and recoiled in pain. I’m hoping that this child will be like the others and enjoy my rib cage rather than my vagina. October can’t come quick enough.
I completely forgot that strange symptom of the sudden sensation of getting kicked in the box and thank you for reminding me of the name. I felt a sudden pain in the vag the other day and asked my cousin if she remembered that happening to her when she was pregnant and she looked at me like I was crazy. It's not literally a kick but some weird nerve thing I think?
I also don’t think I had lightening crotch last time. I did have RLP and this time it is much worse, like take your breath away bad sometimes, and it is happening a lot. I told my husband we need to find something to fix it because it is really bad. I can’t even stand up without being careful or I get it.
I’m so glad I’m already feeling baby move! I didn’t feel DS until almost 30 weeks because he was my first and I had anterior placenta. So reassuring to feel it already!
@chyvie your nighttime googling reminded me of something. The Barenaked Ladies have a CD of children's music (possibly more than one?)...we had borrowed it from the library and someone told me there were videos on youtube for some of the songs. excited to show my kids, i promptly googled..."barenaked ladies snacktime videos." Not a good idea.
WAH you guys I loved the nanny we interviewed this afternoon and I offered her the job and she didn’t immediately accept and I’m so nervousss!! Come work for me and watch my children so I can napppp
@DunkinDecaf don't worry! With every job I have ever had, even ones I have wanted a billion percent, I always give myself 48 hours to think about it. a) So I make sure any excitement I have wears off and I am really being honest with myself and b) If they think I am not sure, I can maybe get them to pay me more. FX it works for you!
I had my first ob appt this morning after transferring over from my RE, and she was great. Really nice, seemed knowledgeable, and just easy going to talk to. But unfortunately (fortunately for her), she’s pregnant, and due in a couple months! When I was making my next few appts on the way out, I couldn’t decide if I should stick with her till she’s gone and then switch to another dr, or switch to someone else from the start so that they have a longer time to get to know me. Ended up going with someone new, so I hope I like them just as much!
@pumpkinpancake I probably would have switched right away as well. More time to get a good relationship with the new person!
This should probably go in BF but I do have a question. Prescription prenatals (they few I had access to) I found out didn't have added DHA. I thought DHA was, like, necessary? I picked up a DHA supplement and took it for a couple days. Today I looked closer at the label and it said consult your Dr if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. WTH? Am I supposed to take this or not?!
@SweetSweetTooth I'd definitely assume that it would be in prescription ones - that does seem weird. My doc told me not to worry about it until second tri (it's not currently in mine), but who knows!
I totally did too! Until I switched pharmacys and they picked different prenatals so I went online to compare and was shocked that neither of them had DHA and then the cherry on top was the warning on the DHA bottle. Oy so confusing.
@SweetSweetTooth I take prescription vitamins and it still doesn't include DHA. I think it has something to do with personal choice to take it and vegan etc. Also doesn't agree with everyone and makes for "fishy" burps. I take a 900 mg EPA/ DHA supplement on top of my prenatal. My container doesn't say anything about risk pregnancy. My doctor also requested me to take at least 300 mg

@SweetSweetTooth doesn't happen with all brands and all the time. I found a brand that works for me and only get it on occasion when I haven't ate enough

@SweetSweetTooth I think it’s pretty normal for everything to have that label. Even my over the counter prenatal vitamins say to consult a doctor. Pretty sure it’s just them covering their asses. FWIW, my OB did specifically say at our first appointment to make sure my vitamin included DHA.
@SweetSweetTooth that’s what I ended up doing, though afterwards I realized that because at my drs practice they alternate appts between the OB and the midwife, I won’t be seeing the OB again until end of May anyway since my April appt will be with the midwife. Oh well!
As for the prenatals, I realized that the one I’ve been taking doesn’t have DHA in it either, and my OB recommended taking at least 200-300mg of DHA a day. I’ll probably try to switch to one that does have it, because I’d rather not take a separate fish oil supplement. They know pregnant women should get DHA, so why do they have to make these things complicated??
Regarding the DHA- my OB gave me two separate prescriptions, one for prenatals and one for fish oil.
@pumpkinpancake my OB was also pregnant when I was having DD. I waited to switch and ended up not liking the new OB but didn't want to shop around at 8 mos pregnant, so I'm glad to hear you switched right away!

I am not sure if I will switch to an over the counter prenatal with DHA or stick with the prescription I like and supplement with otc DHA. Guess I will have to compare the amount of everything in each of them! I know nothing is easy but this shouldn't have to be this difficult!!
I just switched to a prenatal with DHA and I realized I never had DHA in my Vitamin with DS. The target brand prenatals dont have DHA. My doctor didn’t say anything either way, but the sample vitamins she gave me have DHA in them.
Prenatals are always the freaking worst for me! They make me absolutely ill. I’ve tried dozens and the only ones I even can keep down are the gummies which my doc says are no good because they don’t have iron. I had the same exact issue with DS. I will say the Trader Joe’s ones are fairly mild. So if anyone has the same issue check them out. I won’t even try anything but gummies until MS goes away now. I gave up a few days ago.

@jweber4747 I’ve definitely forgotten about a lot of the lovely pregnancy symptoms too.
