Finally got date and time for my shower! May 6th! Right now it's almost at 40 people {mostly fb invites with a few people who don't have fb}
MIL is doing the baking - which I'm stoked for because she's a great cook.
Thoughts on games? I personally requested my mum not to do the 'dirty diaper' {chocolate in a fake diaper} or baby food games .... I'm not a fan and they're kinda gross.
Are there any games you ladies requested not to do and any games you ladies loved?
@MissKittyDanger beer chugging out of baby bottles is mostly hilarious. You do sort of have to modify the bottles, though, or you'll be there literally all day.
@MissKittyDanger I did not enjoy the game where people estimated the size of my belly with toilet paper. If I hadn't loved those in attendance, I may have gone berzerk on some of them. I did enjoy watching people sample different baby foods and guessing what they were. My sister wrote down things that she overheard people say as I was unwrapping gifts and then reread some of the comments afterwards as if they were said at the event of conception, which was pretty hilarious (ex: "Oh, that's the cutest thing ever!" "Where are you planning on putting that?")
@kfren They had the wording part at my bridal shower. Some people thought it was funny, but oddly enough I didn't. The toilet paper one, I can see why some wouldn't be a fan. I think it'd be interesting, more of the "I'm how big? " because it often takes me off guard by my size lmao {trying to get past things you think are big enough and suddenly tip-toes are best idea because belly in way}
@MissKittyDanger I'm usually not big on cutesy games, but we played bingo at my shower and it was easy and fun. I also threw a baby shower where I printed out a version of cards against humanity called babies against Parenthood (found on Pinterest). It was a good laugh.
AFM I just found out yesterday that MH's family is throwing me a shower on May 5th. I'm actually excited for it because it's gonna be co ed at my FILs ranch. So it's gonna be less of a shower and more of a chill party.

@Amphibious22 I'll have to look up the babies against parenthood, sounds funny! Lol I recently asked my mum not to do the game we did at my bridal shower - someone catches you with legs crossed, they can steal your necklace - and if she does, to alter it. I move a lot with being uncomfortable lol
Definitely sounds like a chill party My H is taking some of the boyfriends of the girls coming to the range. I think they may be planning something for him while they're out - maybe not a diaper party, but I think something is being planned. I hope they do!
We added - sense of humour, dancing ability, work ethic, cleanliness, sense of style, risk taking ability, variety of foods, etc. so it was little less focused on looks.
Then the person closest to Mom's answers gets a prize...
Mama to a wonderful DD - Sep 2015, Wife to my DH since 2011, 2 dogs, a cat, and hoping to add No. 2 in May/June 2018. Canadian. 5 - IUIs, 3 - IVF retrievals, 2- failed transfers (fresh, and frozen), PGS on second IVF resulted in 1 perfect emby, and DD. 3rd IVF w PGS resulted in 3! perfect embys. 1st transfer - Sep 2017 2 more on ice.
One baby shower I attended we played a baby themed version of family feud it was 2 teams of 5. I like games where not everyone is required to participate bc those ppl usually ruin the fun for others. I also like mommy or daddy game where participants guests which parent said/ did what. Like who suggested naming the baby (whatever)? I don’t like the poopy diaper game. Its disturbing. That’s the only one I specifically said no to. I also said no more than 3 games. In today’s social media world you spend at least half of the event taking pictures. If you have extra time just have everyone give the guest of honor a well wish. Thats what we did at my bridal shower. As i opened your gift you gave on wish, i loved how genuine everyone was (bc with everyone saying something you can’t say something generic).
These showers are all so beautiful and everyone is so well loved!
For shower game suggestions: I just threw a shower for my cousin, and we played a game where everyone makes a baby with a little can of play-doh, then the momma of honor gets to pick the winning baby. It was pretty fun! And, we read a story called "Pass the parcel" where the shower prize just gets passed left and right, depending on the story. It was really easy, funny, and no real prep involved, which I loved. We also did a baby name suggestion jar, which was really sweet, since the baby is as of yet, un-named.
@krashke ~ I’m glad your shower went well! It looks like it was wonderful, and you look great!
@MissKittyDanger ~ I did this game at a baby shower I hosted last year and it went over pretty well. And the momma of honor obviously got to keep all the items. Everyone said they liked that it wasn’t the traditional normal games. https://www.somewhatsimple.com/baby-shower-game/
@stephcat421 I saw when you first posted it but never had a chance to comment but holy haul that you got! And you look fabulous!
@krashke Great photos - that's so sweet what you did for your niece. You look like you got a great haul too.
@MissKittyDanger I had the baby food games at both showers and they went over alright. People who didn't want to do it just didn't participate. I liked the cute little trivia games that were offered during gift opening - at the first one, people were given cards that had match the baby animal name with the adult animal. People worked together - it was so much harder than it sounds. At my other one I had like a nursery rhyme trivia game a trivia about the mom-to-be. They were really helpful to keep people entertained while opening gifts and it sounds like you'll have double the amount of guests I had so you'll have more gifts to open! We also played bingo, pin the dummy on the baby, guess the crackers/gummies in the jar, and a team game to dress the best baby. Oh and we had little scratch off lottery tickets (baby shower theme) to hand out for when there was lack of activity.
A fun shower game is to have guests bring in a baby picture of themselves. The host mixes them up and holds up each one for people to write down their guess as to who the picture is. The person with the most right answers wins.
First Son - born 2013
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
My BFF is hosting one for us this weekend and we are playing "pin the sperm on the egg", baby bottle bowling, and some game with tiny babies in ice cubes, first one to win or " have there water break" wins....none are mandatory, she is going to set them up like stations around her place and people can play if they want to.
We just got home from our weekend of travel for our baby shower that was yesterday - so I figured I would drop in and say hi and post some pics
The shower was hosted by one of my best friends with help from my mom, MIL and my sister. The details of it all were a total surprise to me. They ended up doing a Hawaiian theme and having it catered by my favorite Hawaiian place from back home. My mom made some yummy homemade cupcakes. There was a baby headband making station, so we got some pretty cute hand made bows for little miss. We had about 30 people total in attendance. The shower turned out lovely.
My BFF threw us a friends shower (and both sets of Ps came). It was nice and laid back. She had some silly games and everyone decorated diapers (which was hilarious). We got a few boxes of various sized diapers, which is great. For whatever reason, only one friend bought things off our registry....and 2 couple's said they couldn't find any info about registries (they were literally linked in the evite...) But we got some cute stuff and it's all useable, which is great. We have a family shower in 3 weeks, and my parents ordered us our stroller at the end of last week! Sh*ts getting real!!
@BurlapandLace what a clever shower idea! Looks like a very special day and you look fabulous and so happy!
@bearmoons glad your friends shower went well, even though your registry was mostly not used. Good thing the stuff you did receive is at least needed! Good luck on your family shower in a couple weeks!
@BurlapandLace I love all the decorations and the food looks amazing! I have really been craving Hawaiian food, but there doesn't seem to be much in AZ. I'm glad it was a fun shower!!
@bearmoons I'm sorry you didn't get much off your registry, but I'm glad it sounds like you still got good stuff! Honestly some of my favorite stuff we've gotten has been off registry. And shit is starting to get so real!!!

@BurlapandLace What a great theme idea! All the food looks great. I’m not sure I’ve ever had hawaiin food outside of a pizza (lol) but now I think I must try it. The make a headband station sounds so cute. You look great
@bearmoons Glad you enjoyed your first shower! Sorry about the registry but that’s great that you still got some useful stuff. FX at your next one people are more proactive about finding it.
