  • @moguippy late on this but we just use scent and dye free detergents. I definitely used every sample we got and would wash my baby clothes separately for awhile since they were more delicate. also definitely get a mesh bag for socks, mittens and hats it was a life saver!

  • Ugh my baby sitter is acting like we pick up DS late all the time. We usually get him by 5 the lates but sometimes earlier. But here we are running late because Dh is being held up at work and I’m taking the train. She wasn’t rude but her tone of “so when are you picking him up” wasn’t taken well. Now I’m here trying to arrange a taxi or Lyft ride home to make sure it’s not too late. Ugh!
  • @lindsayleigh1989 That's a good idea! I should make him fill it up. It is a cool one, just such an odd thing to give a pregnant person.
  • @noideawhatshesdoing I think it’s kind of funny! I’m missing wine and pina coladas. My brother has a personality like that and would do something stupid like that. Lol. But I would laugh and save it for end of July/August!
  • @noideawhatshesdoing My friend's gave me 2 mule cups for my birthday and I told them I was pregnant. We laughed. I love a good Irish mule (whiskey instead of vodka). I'm looking forward to filling those bad boys up once baby is here. Think of it as a mini push present. I agree with @lindsayleigh1989, have him fill it up for you once baby comes. a good HOORRAAHH!

  • @paytonpedro What's really funny is it actually matches some of the decor in baby's room which my bro hasn't even seen!
  • @zombiehoohaa How have I never heard of an Irish mule?! Well that's going on things to try later this year. One of my clients sent me a bottle of champagne at Christmas and then laughed when I told her I was pregnant and it would have to wait to be enjoyed.
  • @zombiehoohaa @noideawhatshesdoing I'm more of a Moscow mule gal but we did Kentucky Mules and Mexican Mules as well as regular ones at our wedding, I just love anything with ginger beer!
  • Uuuugh Trevor Noah is coming to my town a week after I'm due at the county fair! So tempted to get tickets...
  • @noideawhatshesdoing I LOVE whiskey, so when my brother put an Irish mule in front of me, I was like, "sweet baby Jesus! This is delicious!!!!".
@kissableviv I've never tried a mexican mule only because tequila is te-kill-ya. Needless to say tequila and I are not friends. Lol

  • @zande2016 I so hope this pans out for him! FX so hard!

@lindsayleigh1989 I have a stitch fix that should be here today or tomorrow and I am also super stoked. DH and I each kept a box of our monthly subscription obsessions and scaled back (so now I get one every quarter not every month) and its got a lot of cute maternity stuff I can't wait to see! Subscription boxes are so fun! What is your fave thing in the new box?

Today is "DH and DS adventure day"...usually when I go to class once every 6 weeks or so they go to DH'st grandma's and hang out all day while I'm out, but this Saturday the local basketball team had the conference championship so DH did that instead and is doing adventure day today. So I get half a free day! I am going to a bookstore, physically into a coffee shop, and to a brewery to up my stash because they just put out a special release, and POSSIBLY booking my jinx foot massage at a spa on my due date (if they'll do it). I'm so excited!
  • @zande2016 that’s awesome! Fx he gets it!
  • @zande2016 that’s so awesome!! Crossing everything for you!

@lindsayleigh1989 ooh I’ve been eyeballing those boxes! That looks great!
  • @zande2016 I'm sooooo happy for you!! I hope this pans out!
  • @zande2016 yay great news!! @SmashJam I love the muscle roller! its been so great to use myself on my legs and for dh to use to on my back!
    @acunamatada do it!!

  • December board is up. Isn’t it kinda early? I thought it was more typical for them to open at the beginning of the month.
  • @wildtot I saw that yesterday! I didn’t do the math, figured it opened two weeks ago but thought it was weird no one has started any threads. That makes more sense.. Weird!
  • I’ve been randomly smelling really good refried beans and I can’t figure out why.. I’m not craving them but it does smell like really good Mexican.. I think we’re going to have to have tacos for dinner before I drive myself crazy.
  • @noideawhatshesdoing Yeah, that's a hard gift to get. I miss whiskey and wine too, and people keep getting me bottles as gifts. So far, since I got pregnant I've built up a stash, 1 bottle of rye whiskey and 4 bottles of wine deep. I'm saving them for later. No one's allowed to touch them. :D

@zande2016 yessss!! Fingers and toes crossed so hard for you!!

@lindsayleigh1989 I’ve been thinking about doing fab fit fun too! I don’t really do anything just for me without feeling guilty about it so anonce quarterly treat sounds really nice!

Also- apparently I’m the only one that loves the smell of Dreft and detergent in general... oh well lol.

Edited to add- sorry I’ve been kinda MIA. It’s been a busy week and it always seems like when I have tons of time to chat no one has anything to say but when I can’t theres like a million things to catch up on. Taking a deep breath and diving right in!
  • @hillbillywife and @acunamatada let me know if you too decide to do it I have a code to save 10 dollars on a box. I love that it is quarterly!

  • @SmashJam ooh good idea. I’d love to not go late this time. I’m not holding my breath, but it’d be so nice.
  • Went to a breastfeeding class lastnight and for the most part it was pretty educational. I didn't feel like the instructor forced breast is best down our throats, like some of the stories I've read. She emphasized more about how important it is for bonding with baby and mom. At the end she did say, breastfeeding is not for everyone and do not feel guilty for going another route.
BF moment: Kind of rubbed me the wrong way when a lady asked about having a glass of wine while breastfeeding. The instructor told her, "don't drink while breastfeeding". WTF!?!? You don't pass judgement with this. Sorry, however, you are an instructor; you should be educating us on what would be the best way to breastfeed after having a drink or to avoid feeding lo until a certain time, etc. goodness!

  • @zombiehoohaa I get not necessarily promoting drinking while BF but it’s totally safe (within reason). Rule of thumb I was told is if you’re safe to drive you’re safe to BF.

@zombiehoohaa While I agree with you that she could have been more helpful, she probably has to say that due to liability.  Like she might go home and have a glass of wine while BF, but she can't tell you that it's safe.  There are tons of things you can do, they sell those little strips you can dunk in pumped milk, you can pump and dump, or research how much is ok (I have no idea lol). I have heard both that one drink is fine and that any time you drink a little alcohol is being passed through. I will probably do my own research closer to birth. Although I don't drink a lot so I may just pump and dump when I do drink bc I will probably be a paranoid FTM lol.

  • @zande2016 yay! Great news! Congrats to him and your family.

@zombiehoohaa often they have to say that when someone directly asks. As with most things it's a liability issue caused by stupid people and a sue happy culture.

So St. Patrick's Day is mine and hubby's dating anniversary lol, yup, we're classy like that and it may have been a festive day for us 6 years ago.

  • +1 to @acunamatada - what I've lived by with DD is that if you can drive you can BF.  Rule of thumb when I got my motorcycle licenses was that the body metabolizes 1 alcoholic beverage (1.5 oz liquor, 5 oz wine, 12 oz beer) per hour. So if kid is feeding every 2 hours, if you have a glass of wine directly after feeding, you should be good to go for next feeding.  Pumping and dumping makes me want to cry - for many of us those precious ounces are hard to come by and shouldn't be fed to the sink.

  • @gingerbride26 while I agree pumping and dumping is sad, for me I know it will only be once in a while, and if it is for the sake of my anxiety/mental health then I say it's allowed lol.
  • Sorry, I should have expressed it was the WAY she said it, very snappy and judgmental. In the breastfeeding handout they provided us, it says to limit drinking alcohol. However, if you are going to drink here are some guidelines to follow (have a glass of wine, wait this many hours to breastfeed, pump and dump, etc.). I understand the liability of having to say, "dont drink, smoke, or do drugs while BF". Additionally, she had just gone over smoking and BF. She told us that her husband died because he was a smoker...sooooooooooooo...it may have struck a personal chord with her. Just really rubbed me the wrong way how she handled it.

  • @moguippy oh i totally understand about anxiety/mental health! agreed that comes first.  As I've shared before all of BF was anxiety for me so loosing any ounces was a bigger trigger for me than potential residual alcohol. Each woman is going to have her own specific mom-fears. One night I missed the nightstand in the dark after pumping and lost like half a bottle to the floor, still have flash back terror...

  • Anyone else watching "Nailed It!" on Netflix? I am literally dying with laughter here...
  • @nimmle is it that good? it keeps popping up (even in the kids section!?) and I've been thinking about checking it out.  Is it like a pinterest fails but in TV form?

  • @gingerbride26 That is exactly what it is. I'm enjoying it and find it very funny. I keep telling myself "I can do better than that" which is probably not true at all. I'd be an excellent candidate for this show.
