Water broke at 3:30am ☺ just got to hospital and confirmed. Got in before the 12 inches of snow expected later today! Ahhh we will have a baby soon! So happy my body went into labor on its own! Here is to hoping I progress quickly, still only 2cm dilated
I'm sure we talked about this somewhere a while ago but i can't find it. Now that I'm switching to cesarean I need to rethink my hospital bag. What pants do I want to wear? It's too cold here for skirts and it seems like everything is going to hit right on the scar. I know they say after birth my body will still look 6 mo pg, but I can't remember how things fit way back then!
@fatstagnation I brought yoga pants that have the fold over waist band, and then I just left the waist band unfolded so it came up over my belly. Then I had a little support on my stomach so it didn't quite feel like my guts were going to fall out.
@fatstagnation - anything that soft, loose and can be pulled up like Steve Erkle style higher on your belly. I’ve been living in sweats/fleece pj bottoms. I also wore and used the extra pretty hospital underwear which don’t have a waistband. I also asked for a few extra pairs to take home but maybe invest I a few higher waisted underwear so they don’t hit right on your incision.
Thanks ladies! I did buy some postpartum granny panties so I'll bring some of those, I'm sure they'll hook me up with something at hospital too if I really need it. Of course all of my fold over yoga pants are crop length for some reason. haha I'll be fine. I also have some fitted nursing tanks that I think will make me feel a little "held together," that I can tuck in. Less that 24 hours we'll be holding the LO. AAAAHHH
@sarahhedger7 you're speaking the truth, girl! I can barely be bothered to get dressed before leaving the house these days. hahahaha
I've been crampy for a few days now. Today I decided to clean the bathroom, and clean out the medicine cabinet, and clean the kitchen, and clean out and organize the kitchen cupboards/ pantry. PLEASE tell me all this nesting hit because today is gonna be my day. *fingers crossed
@sarahhedger7 I nested I think the day before I went into labor? The day of I felt off all day until my contractions started. But you’re probably close!
So my parents just opened up a new restaurant and my in laws are in town finally visiting their granddaughter... so excuse my annoyance here. But we went to see my parents new place yesterday and my mom took the baby and was holding her. Well... this lady who I’ve never seen before came up and started touching my child and her face/cheeks. I said to her, “Umm excuse me... did you wash your hands?” She fucking ignored me the first time so I asked her again! This time she said, “Yes!” In a bitchy tone. You guys, I wanted to throat punch the shit out of her!!!! Like who does that!?! First off, bitch I don’t know you so don’t touch my kid!! Second, I don’t know you!!! Lol or where the hell your nasty hands have been! And I highly doubt she washed her hands because I watched her get up from the bar and come over to us. Then my mom was like, “Kiersten, she’s a good friend of mine.” When the lady walked away all pissed off. Ok? I don’t give a shit. Don’t touch my child and especially don’t touch her face. I was raging...
@crossfitbabybump nooooo, I would’ve gone off!! I hate that people think babies are public property! I had a total stranger try to kiss my son when he was an infant (while I was wearing him!) and I flipped out.
@BrittnieMariee And here I thought that baby wearing was the cure for randos wanting to touch my baby. Who TF sticks their face down there to kiss a baby’s head that’s in someone’s boob zone? I have a good sized personal bubble. Stay out weirdos!

@kiki75 that was what I thought! It was so weird. It was some random old lady at the grocery store and my son was only 3 weeks old. She grabbed his feet first, then asked if she could give him a kiss. I was like “uh, no”! So when I take Emma out I wear her and use my breastfeeding cover to cover her head.
@crossfitbabybump, glad you spoke up. You'll definitely have more opportunities to speak up unfortunately. Even it she were your own good friend it sounds like you would have asked her to wash her hands first anyway.
And totally not OK for people to try to kiss babies. Especially on or near the mouth since lots of people have herpes (although don't show any symptoms), so you wouldn't want your LO getting that so soon in their life. And there's the people pawing at their hands and feet...the hands and feet LO sucks on.
So true about herpes. Keep your lips to yourselves people! I understand that babies are cute and make people happy and excited BUT they need to be protected and depend on their parents to advocate for them. It is irritating when grown adults get offended by parents who are just exercising their right and duty to ensure their children are in a safe and healthy environment. Some things we can't control, but to request a hand wash and refuse kisses - people need to respect that vs sulk in offense. Grow up.
Hey ladies—just wanted to give you all a quick update! I'll hopefully post birth announcement and story later, but long story short:
We welcomed our baby girl on 3/21! The next day, she was transferred to another hospital for emergency surgery. Luckily my doctor released me early so that MH and I could both go to the new hospital to be with her. The surgery went very well. She's recovering in the NICU and doing great! Everyone is so impressed with what a little fighter she is. She shouldn't have any long-term effects from what she needed surgery for, and we are hoping she'll be discharged Monday! I can't wait to have her home and figure out our new normal.
