Definitely foam rolling can help. All I've read about says to find distractions, but it's hard if you're trying to sleep! The things our bodies go through...
  • Lately I've been getting this weird crampy feeling in my lower right side, sort of like the lowest right hand corner of my uterus if that makes sense. It's very localized to that spot and only happens when I'm walking. It feels like the type of cramp you get when you're working out and need more water, if that makes sense? Like a muscle cramp I guess.cAnyway it keeps happening when I walk for days now...any ideas? I keep trying to drink more water but it does not seem to be helping.
  • @ckmb_knottie yes, I only failed the one hour test in my first pregnancy by a couple points and so I had to take the 3-hr test because of that, and u have to fast for that one I believe. In my second pregnancy I was more careful with what I ate before the 1-hr test and passed it easily.
Fyi, the blood labs have to see you as soon as your time is up for these, no matter how busy it is.

Also, the first drink is 50g glucose in about 12oz of juice, like a gatorade, and the 3 hour drink is 100g!! Crazy amounts of sugar! Make sure they are cold and just chug (u have to drink it in under 5 min).

I would hate doing blood pricks over a couple of weeks so I always opt for the drink.

@zande2016 - i've been getting that on my left side, also seems to be only when walking or stand up quickly/badly from sitting...nothing helpful except you are not alone

  • @sm05-2 I get it almost every night now, it's the worst. Before pregnancy I would get it maybe once every few months. I just try to stretch it out, i'll do it in the bed but if it doesn't get better i'll walk around the house, stretch then get back in bed. Last night it lasted about a hour, it was miserable. Sorry you're having the same bad luck! I hate them.

I got an email last night from the ob. It said everything looks normal and good for baby and the placenta. However, I have some small uterine fibroids. They do not appear to be a clinical concern at this time. This is news to me. I've never been told I had fibroid before this. Has anyone else had fibroids and had a healthy pregnancy? From what I've read, they only cause pain and possibly slight bleeding. I know he said not a clinical concern at this time. However...pregnancy worry brain over here...

ETA: This ob is not my normal ob. She is out until Monday. I do see my ob next Friday and plan on asking 10,000 questions. However, I wanted to check-in with the hive to read anyone else's experiences.

  • @zande2016 @gingerbride26 same! It's happened a few times when I'm out walking my dog. Kinda feels like a 'side stitch' from running too hard, but it's more down in the uterus. Goes away once I sit down. And doesn't happen every time.

  • @sm05-2 RE Braxton Hicks, they’re like a tight feeling for me, I can never tell if it’s the whole ute or not but they’ll come and go pretty quickly and aren’t painful.

@zande2016 I’ve been getting something like that too, like if I move too quickly or the wrong way.
  • @sm05-2 when I have them it feels like the bottom part of my abdomen gets tight, and like @wildtot says I get a little winded, almost like the sensation of losing my breath is travelling up my body, if that makes sense?
  • Also just tried the search function but it failed me, maybe the person called it something different. at the AS today I was told I have a marginal cord insertion and an extra lobe on my placenta. I'm having a bit of a moment...I made the mistake of googling what it meant for a pregnancy. The MFM who went over my anatomy scan with me said I would just get another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check growth, but I saw all these other things that could go wrong and while they are not the norm, the last time I was pregnant nothing about my daughter's situation was the norm and that did not end up well! So...I guess my question is, has anyone had this, or does anyone have this, and what were you told/what were complications. I am actually not just having a moment, I'm mildly flipping out.
  • @SmashJam I think I mentioned this yesterday, mine is "borderline" marginal cord insertion. I'm going back at 23 weeks actually as they told me to go back 4 weeks after the anatomy. They told me it's not a concern but I also googled it...seems like a lot of mamas end up having big kids regardless of the growth concern! After this 23 week US I will also have a 32 growth scan. I don't know about the extra love you mentioned, sorry:( I don't think it is as big of a concern as if the cord was inserting close to the cervix. If it's slightly off centered like in our case I think it should all be good.

Aside from wanting to make sure my baby is growing well despite this I was mostly concerned about possibly having to have a c section but it doesn't seem to be the case. I see my doctor on Tuesday and of course I'll ask a million questions!
  • @zombiehoohaa I have fibroids. I found out at the NT scan when I was pregnant with DD. I was shocked, I do not have any risk factors for them and never ever had any symptoms. I have 5 major fibroids, 2 of them are 3+ centimeters.

Funny side story; the perinatologists that reviews all the scans is brilliant but quirky. The first time I met him was after this scan and he walks in and says "kid looks great but you've got a bag of marbles in your uterus." I got so so pissed off at him like how the F is he going to talk about my uterus like that. Now I love him but that was my first experience.

Anyways, with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy I got ultrasounds every 4 weeks after I hit 20 weeks to monitor the growth of the fibroids. The doctors are not at all concerned it's just an over abundance of caution. The fibroids caused zero issues in my last pregnancy and in this one so far.

  • @gspmom21, sorry to hear you're having the same problem and that it's increased with the pregnancy! I suppose we can commiserate together. @acunamatada and @SmashJam and @wildtot, thanks for the info on Braxton Hicks. I suppose I'm not having them if I'm feeling a little pain...probably just the uterus stretching and growing.

@zombiehoohaa, sorry to hear about the fibroids, and @SmashJam, sorry about the marginal cord insertion. I would be googling, too; it's hard not to worry when you're pregnant!

Yes, that's exactly how I'd describe it, like a stitch. couldn't think of that for some reason haha
  • @sm05-2 @gspmom21 I also have restless leg syndrome and it has gotten 10 times worse the past few weeks. Unfortunately I have no tips as I haven’t found anything that helps. Do you guys get leg spasms from it too?  Like my legs are restless and then BAM I’m randomly kicking the air. Usually there is a cat on my lap and they are not too happy about it lol
  • @zande2016 @gingerbride26 Sounds like RLP to me. Your uterus and pelvic girdle are made of a lot of muscles that overlap each other and wrap around your body. (I'm actually learning all about this exact thing right now in my Anatomy class.) It's definitely possible with the uterus growing and stretching that you'll feel that pain in various part of your abdomen. Just slow down when you feel them, drink so much water you're peeing constantly, and rest when you need to. Unfortunately, they don't really go away.
  • I’m sure there have been lots of people posting the answer to this question in the pregnancy announcement thread but I’m a rebel.

How are you doing “gender” reveals for friends/family who are far away?

I originally was going to have my mom scan me (she’s an ultrasound tech) when she comes to visit in April and have her make the announcement to everyone. But her trip got pushed back to May (if she even comes at all- which is totally fine!) but I think that I won’t be able to keep it a secret until May, and I’d like to still do something cute for her and my stepdad. And then something cute for my girlfriends who live locally.
  • @hillbillywife I see a lot of FB live videos for if you want everyone to find out at once. I'd suggest doing it "live" though in a google hangout or on FB, because people will post it faster than you can from the event and someone will end up butt sore they didn't find out from you.

  • @gingerbride26 that’s a good idea! Thanks! My husband mentioned, too, having my mom and stepdad on FaceTime while my kids find out so that way they can find out together.
