Seriously doesn't photograph well but the stuff is not my style. I saw some cute seashell prints that were that green and kind of like the pink fleck but not my style.
As an interior designer we call that kind of carpet "throw up carpet" but like @sammierose464 said it does hide stains well! I can see it working well in a woodlands or outdoors theme as it could just kind of blend in, because you likely will have some brighter greens, blues and oranges with the animals etc. The beach theme might make it more of a focus because you will have more softer tones and calming elements so the carpet will be the grounding element if that makes any sense to you.

@jaylii we did our first nursery gender neutral so that with our second we could use the same room (turns out we are not moving DD anyways) but we did a blue/browns/grey owls and wilderness theme. If our second would have been in there and a boy I probably would have gotten grey or brown crib instead of white. But here is what we did to give an idea
This was the corner of our bedroom where our first baby had their set up ( you can see our old bedspread in the corner). I ditched the mobile pretty quickly and the co sleeper was in our bed 99% of the time. This time in just doing black and white prints with the florals from my toddlers quilt but I'm still a fan of red, turquoise, coral and plum as neutral baby colors.
@BabyRobbinsAdventure Thanks for the color scheme idea and picture of your DD's nursery! Very sweet nursery! I do like the shade of blue on the walls so maybe that will be a starting point for us!
DH calls me “Bee”.... I’m not sure where the nickname came from... I prefer Queen Bee. Haha just kidding. But we wanna do a baby bee themed nursery with yellows, grey and white. We feel like it’ll work for boy or girl and there are so many cute bee themed things. Burts Bees has a whole line up of sheets, who’s and quilts. Soooo cute!
I forgot about all the cute pictures! My Mom offered to come over in August and paint (we picked out a pale yellow a couple weeks ago) and help set up the nursery. We tend to think a lot alike about how things should be organized, so I think that should work okay.
In progress! The contractor came today to paint and will build us a few floating shelves later on. Colors are aqua and grey, with a hint of pink, and an adventure/exploration theme. I can’t wait to hang the wood signs (they say’wander,’ ‘let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move mountains,’ and two other similar sayings), they are my favorite! photo in spoiler
I haven't thought much on the nursery since the beginning of sharing the seafoam green carpet picture. We are going to go to some stores to start looking at nursery furniture, test out strollers, etc. Dh is going with so I am happy. My mom has kept (kindly) asking if we looked at nursery stuff yet. My parents are buying the furniture so she is excited to buy it and of course see it set up. Thinking of doing the nursery with a sky theme. Clouds, airplanes, birds, and more. Neutral and works with the horrible carpet. If we decide to take out the carpet I would love a wood or wood looking floor. Probably would stick with the same theme if we did but not sure. Something while shopping may jump out at us
@SweetSweetTooth I love the sky theme! I think it’s a really cute idea, and would still go well with the wood floors. We thought about doing a night sky theme with the moon and stars because it is gender neutral too.
Since we don’t know the sex yet we are planning to do a safari animal theme that we can then accent with either pink or orange/green once we do find out the sex. DH and FIL made so much progress on the demo of the nursery yesterday and it is making me way more excited/impatient to start getting the furniture and decorating!
We’re doing a vintage aviation theme for this little boy’s room. Dad, grandpa, and late great grandfather are all pilots so it fits and puts use to a lot of random old plane decor we have. Probably won’t be finished until he’s 6 months old or so though because second child and his bedroom is currently storage haha
We'll be sticking with the baby bee theme! I think room will be yellow and grey maybe white so it'll be neutral for both babies! Plus I love bees and my mom already has a new themes shower planned! We're almost done clearing out the basement (where DH and I currently sleep) so we can start turning it into actual rooms for us and the babies. I'm so excited to get started!!
@chopchop25@sliztee yes have consisted that and is probably what we will do if we ditch the carpet. Tough call if we should leave it and replace it when kid is older or do it now.
@SweetSweetTooth if you can, do it now. That carpet will be a stain magnet for little ones! You can always put a nice area rug down if you wanted it to be a little cozier
@SweetSweetTooth true! Kids are messy lol I hate sweeping but i find it easier to sweep or wipe up a spill on laminate than to clean a carpet. Maybe I'm biased we had carpets in our rooms growing up and I really didn't like it though I don't have a reason as to why.
We have wall to wall carpet upstairs (I don't like wood flooring in bedrooms) and stains have literally never been an issue. Theyve gone through 2 kids and still looks brand new.
No real theme. I am going for light and airy. White furniture. I am not getting a bedding set (such a waste with my first) so I have picked a crib sheet and changing pad I like that is a print (floral) and the others will be solids that I can mix and match. Colors are a blush pink, a light peach, mint and light sage. I'll do some gold accents too. Not sure of a paint color yet, I am debating between all white or going with a color for an accent wall.
@chopchop25 ours is a similar color! I love that saying in your second pic above the changing table.
We are doing aqua, gray, and white accented with orange foxes. Room is painted and furniture came in courtesy of my mom and grandma. We are eager to get mostly everything else from the baby showers so we can finish decorating and set up. We're so impatient and keep buying things here and there and when our moms find out they yell at us to leave stuff for everyone else to buy lol oops? It is our first baby afterall and we're excited! I'll probably paint something with her name to put over the crib in the meantime. We aren't sharing until after she is born though so DH will have to wait to hang it in case family comes over.
@jellybelly114 we are doing woodland animals and foxes too. I just love the orange fox accents.
The closet in the nursery is small and DH uses it. With his new job he will be hanging more so that will leave little room for baby. He also has a dresser in there.
@mamabearcj yes I feel the same way! I dislike carpet and that is the only room left in the house with carpet!! DH likes the coziness of carpet but dude, we have dogs and messes. And with a baby hard floors are easier to clean. Plus we can get rugs and trash them if they get too stained.
I’m not a big fan of “themes” so we’re doing everything black & white... I’m allergic to color, everything in my house is a shade of grey lol but I’ve found a ton of really cute b&w and grey patterns - Target and Ikea have some really fun ones! Plus I want to keep everything classic & neutral for future littles.
DD’s room is girly safari animals. I kept the bedding and crib mobile, so if baby ends up being a girl I will reuse it. If baby is a boy we are doing airplanes. I’ve been working on an airplane crib sized quilt just in case we have a boy, I’ll probably finish the quilt next week.
Our theme for DS room is baby bears and his room is light blue and there are bears incorporated into most things around the room. Next son is sleeping in a crib in our room so no nursery for this baby oh well DS didnt have a room until we moved out 3 months after he was born. Now we'll have to move again when other DS needs a room.
We are doing zoo animals on a lavender wall for baby girl. These are the wall decals we bought. The crib will go in front of the tree with the big animals around it. For the monkeys, we will be putting the branch decals up to look like they’re coming out of the closet. We also put a gray crib bedding set on our registry with gray elephants, lions, and giraffes on it. Can’t wait to see it once we put it all together!
