My doctor asked me yesterday if I had any pain in my uterus when I sneezed and I was like, nope. Definitely jinxed myself because I sneezed last night and wanted to cry. Lol.
My nipples are also really sensitive/sore, but TMI it makes bedroom play even more intense and awesome, although I can't do it two days in a row.
Definitely went straight from nausea to heartburn. And already Zantac every 24 hours isn’t enough. I don’t remember this so early last time, but I swear my organs are pushing up a lot higher already.
This isn't really a symptom but I just found a ton of broken capillaries all over my side, like the front of my ribcage. I know it's from hormones and all but WTF. Why does this shit happen to us? I got a couple of ugly, big purple veins with my son on my legs and they never went away. So depressing.
@alinafed I feel like I felt a lot of movement yesterday and barely any today and that’s driving me nuts. I’m 17 weeks today and am so ready for the A/S too.
Has anyone tried magnesium for headaches? Did if work?
Midwife recommended it for the 4 day migraine I've been dealing with. Hoping it works because even the extra strength Tylenol hasn't been and this shit sucks
@rocknrollmom - ugh, sorry no advice here but I sincerely hope you feel better soon!
So... probably a TMI but I don't have anyone else to ask and I'm at work so it's un-googleable (sorry spell check) I was doing my typical boobs-in-the-bra adjustment for like the 14th time today (time for a bigger size) and my nips are, um, sticky. This never happened with DS and I'm pretty sure I didn't manage to spill anything in there so, is this a little leaking?
oh man, I would be so excited to leak (yeah I know that's weird). I bought the pads for nursing last time and never needed them. wah wah wah low supply issues.
Thanks ladies! I was so embarrassed typing, I had everything crossed that someone wouldn't come up behind me and see that I'm asking the internet what is going on with my boobs lol!
@livinthesunnylife - YES to low supply issues! That's why I was so confused, like hey milk, you weren't there when I really wanted you to be, why are you showing up now?!?
@livinthesunnylife and @mrsbubbles-2 I had the same issue with DS! I'll be interested to see if this happens to me at all this time around. I never needed the pads during pg with DS or afterwards!
Do we get more milk with the second kid? Oh I would be so excited! Come on boobs, let's do this.
Lol I love your boob pep talk. I don't know any of the science behind this but I can say I produced WAY more with DS2 than DS1, however, our nursing relationship was so much better than it was with DS1 also. I have no idea like actual facts or anything but that's my experience. I'm curious to see what baby 3 brings cuz I used to have to wake up and pump before DS2 woke up and I would pump about 18 ounces each time and then he'd wake up like an hour later and feed. It was SO uncomfortable but made for a lovely freezer stash. So big in fact I had to buy a deep freezer to hold it.

WOAH. I have never pumped 18 oz. You can't see me, but I'm totally bowing down in envy right now. I had these ideas of having a "stash"....even bought a big deep freeze.... Never had more than 100 oz in there. I was so disappointed in these things.... they are huge, I carry them every day. Do your job boobs!

Hey I get it, with DS1 I struggled and struggled and I think the most I ever got on a pump was 4oz. So far I've learned that each pregnancy and each child have been drastically different so it's hard to predict how anything will be. I think the biggest lesson of parenthood is "you know nothing Jon Snow."
@livinthesunnylife girl I hear ya, I nursed, pumped and supplemented for 9 months before weaning and I was obsessed with my supply issues. Hoping things are better this go around but prepared to do what I have to do to feed the baby. I learned a couple months after we were finally had the swing of it that those first few weeks are detrimental in establishing a supply. It was such a learning curve for me for that it took well beyond that just to get the hang of positioning, latching, pumping correctly etc. If I pumped 4 ounces TOTAL (both breasts) I considered it a good pump.
I also remember in my last BMB the BF thread was one that I never opened because it by far was the most overwhelming topic for me as a FTM. Now preparing to be a STM its still overwhelming so I'm pep talking the girls up and hoping things are a little easier.
+1 to the low supply boat. It was really hard for me to accept. I went as far as ordering domperidone from overseas because it isn't prescribed here is the states. I have a supplemental nursing system that helped save me some sort of breastfeeding relationship and I'm grateful for it. I managed 10 months of breastfeeding, pumping, and supplementing. Towards the end, I was pumping 3 times a day at work and only getting 1-3 ounces total. I'm not sure why I put myself through all of that but I already have anxiety thinking about it again. I believe mine is due to pcos and my body simply not forming enough mammary tissue due to less hormones released by not ovulating. I'm still hoping this time will be different, you never know! But hopefully, easier to accept if not.
It’s so nice to hear ladies sharing about lower supply. I can’t imagine producing 18 ounces. I went pump to pump with my son only making barely enough for each feeding and having to supplement. Son had an undiagnosed tongue tie. I’m praying next time is better!!!
symp wise I am dying. 13, 5 and I’m still having major morning sickness and exahstion.
Hey my personal example was not in any way meant to make anyone who has/had a lower supply feel bad. I struggled so bad with DS1 with a horrible latch, low supply, colic, just everything that contributed to a bad nursing experience. I was taking fenugreek to try and help boost my supply and it was depressing when it did nothing but make me stink, literally. But try not to stress for baby number two (or three or four or whatever) because it may not be the same this time around. That was supposed to be my point, not to make anyone feel bad about having a low supply. We do the best we can for our babies and that's what's important.
@calimom2524 I got your point- each kid can be vastly different. I don't think anyone took that personal? It's nice to hear that there's a chance it might be easier this time. And it's nice to hear that so many people had supply issues. I feel like I didn't even know that was a thing last time? I was like....his latch is fine (everyone talks about latch) so why isn't this doing it's thing? Come on boobs.
I had DS1 in 2012 and I swear the entire BF and birthing community changed between him and DS2 in 2014. I delivered at the same hospital and the first time around every nurse gave me different "advice" on how to hold him, how he should be latching, etc. One nurse straight told me to offer my boob like a cheeseburger. What? With DS2 a LC came to my room almost immediately after birth but luckily I didn't need her because from the second he came out he latched and ate for an hour. Nobody cleaned him first or anything, they pulled him out and laid him on my chest and he started eating. It was just such a different experience and I know a lot of those first few hours factors totally played into the entire experience. The science of what occurs directly after birth is amazing.
@calimom2524 your example didn’t make me feel bad at all! My boobs never got it into gear, ya know? I would pump 1-3 oz a pump when I was pumping 6-8 times a day. It was enough for at least 1 bottle of breast milk a day which was my minimum goal. DS was in the NICU for a few days starting the night he was born and they were very strict about feeding during cares rather than on demand. It never even occurred to me to ask for a pump! Now I know better
@calimom2524 I have my everything crossed that BF works for us this time. Your story gives me hope. Our main issue was that DS just refused to (or maybe couldn't?) latch after my milk came in. His latch was awesome in the hospital, but he just couldn't handle it once everything got bigger and harder. Fun fact, FTMs who plan to BF - your boobs will get really, REALLY hard when your milk comes in a few days after you give birth. That was my experience, at least. I was not expecting it.

It's crazy, but for all my anxiety, breastfeeding is what I'm least anxious about. If it works and I have enough milk (which with how sore my boobs are, it feels like I'll have enough to feed 15 kids), awesome. If it doesn't, formula will be fine. I firmly believe fed is best, and my brothers and I (not to mention all of my cousins) were all formula fed and are all fine. I honestly don't feel like I'm going to feel all that bad if my little guy is a formula baby.

@lakesideknitter ugh I couldn't figure out for the life of me what was wrong when my boobs we're so hard baby couldn't even latch. I finally figured out I had to pump to soften them enough for her to latch after many, many tears of frustration were shed.
@jsnakehole that was exactly my attitude with DS. He had a great latch, despite tongue tie, and nursing worked out for us. I think it would sting a little more if I couldn’t nurse this baby because it went so well with DS, but I’m still going into it with the attitude that fed is best, so if it doesn’t work out, I’m really going to try not to beat myself up. I think it’s a good attitude to have, personally.
+1 on having had supply issues. It was a different situation for me because DS was born at 30 weeks, so he was far too little to even try BFing until 34 weeks, and then he had to master sucking, swallowing, and breathing at the same time (normally babies practice that in utero), before we could even attempt BFing. He was in the NICU for 6.5 weeks, then I think I exclusively pumped until he was almost 3 months old, when my favorite L&D nurse who happens to also be an LC came over and helped me get a good latch, and told me I might need to go cold turkey on the bottle and just make him figure it out. Thankfully he did figure it out, but my supply was never great, even after lactation cookies, brewer's yeast, fenugreek, etc. and he ended up being on the verge of being underweight for a while. Starting solids helped with that, and thankfully he is way up on the charts now, but I really hope that I 1. have a full term (or at least 34 weeker) baby this time, and 2. have a MUCH better beginning so that my milk fully comes in. Give me all the leaky boobs, I'd be SO happy to have them!

My breast doctor said that I might have trouble breastfeeding because I have cleft nipples (which I didn't even realize was a thing until my doctor told me my nipples weren't totally normal), so I'm all about realistic expectations. Same thing with vaginal birth vs. C/S- if I end up in a situation where it's medically necessary for me to have a section, I'll roll with it. It's not my first choice but if that's how the cookie crumbles, I'm fine as long as everyone is healthy.

Dark beer is supposed to be good for supply, so that’s my plan. Lol. I breast fed ds, although I wonder now if I had more of a supply issue than I thought at the time, simply because he was always nursing. I never pumped more than a few ounces at a time, so my stash was low. I loved nursing, though, and he still talks about “nursies” and how he misses it. He self weaned when he was just over 2. It’ll be interesting to see his reaction when the baby nurses.
@elsieisamoocow Brewers yeast gives me goosebumps. That is some nasty, nasty stuff. I tried some in my yogurt and nope, nope, nope. I also tried Fenugreek and didn't really notice much difference either.
I would consider the domperidone but sucks its not available in the US, @rocknrrollmom did you end up trying it? Also, what were your thoughts on the SNS? I bought a one time use Medela one that I never used and maybe I should have.
@brzvice Some friends would sprinkle it over oatmeal *gag* - I took these instead, it made it MUCH more tolerable, but I think they only helped a little bit. I think the lactation cookies I would make worked way better.
This time if I have supply issues I'm totally finding domperidone. Some friends who also struggled bought it from Canada and had wonderful supplies.

@brzvice the sns completely saved any breastfeeding plans I had. I absolutely recommend. My supply was so low that I couldn't breastfeed without it. She wasn't getting hardly any milk so she just wouldn't really try eating at all eventually. She would rather wait for the bottle to come after nursing. So, with the sns, we could just breastfeed, no bottle needed. I started with the medala one but it leaks an awful lot and the tubes are really hard to get clean. I got the lactaid one and it's awesome. I recommend that one even though you have to get disposable baggies for it. Much better cleaning and no leaking.
As as for domperidone, I didn't end up getting it until I went back to work and was only getting to pump a few times per day. I think if I would have gotten it sooner, I would have had much better results. My plan is to start taking it almost immediately after birth. At this point, I'd rather have over supply issues, even though I know those are a bear as well.
I want to talk about headaches. I don’t usually get them and I didn’t have them (much) with my first pregnancy, but I’m soooooo miserable. I’m getting multiple headaches a day, really debilitating-can’t-function types. Maybe they’re migraines? Time is the only thing that makes them go away. Tylenol may as well be a sugar pill - such a joke BS medicine. I have an appointment on Wed and plan that discuss them but wondering what everyone’s experiences have been.
@redheadbride15 I've been having that since Tuesday. I feel like I'm getting a cold now, and the weather in NYC has been really bipolar, so I'm hoping that's what's causing it and it's just temporary.
The only thing that's really brought me any relief are ice packs and caffeine, which makes me think migraine. Were you prone to headaches before pregnancy?
