I listened to everyone’s advice and had very few newborn outfits. DS was a peanut and wore them for like two months. You just never know. But I’d just get sleepers can call it good. That’s all he ever wore anyways.
Ditto Lactation consultant. Ours worked miracles. And continue to see them regularly. Things change and new issues/questions come up as baby gets older.
Velcro swaddles for the win! Halo Swaddlesacks were our favorite. The hospital gave us one and I sent my mom out to buy more that first week.
Pick a crib set that comes with rail guards. Not the bumpers, but the ones that tie over the top of the rail. Stops little beaver babies from ruining what will one day become the footboard of their bed.
So much good advice! They're nice reminders even going into this for the second time lol
- eating saltine crackers while i was literally still laying in bed in the morning helped a ton even though it tastes gross
- didn't take Like a huge babymoon but we did take a day trip to a waterfall around the8month mark and it was nice
-I wish I had enjoyed it more. Like, indulged in the "wouldn't this be cute/fun" whims of pregnancy and newborns like photo seasons and cute outfits. I was too focused on doing it "right" ( however i defined that lol) that I think I let a lot of fun moments go by without savoring.
- these forums helped a ton
- reach out for help when you need out. Figure out who the people you have are that you trust and let them know you're going to lean on them, and don't be afraid to do it. This process is huge and life changing and it can be scary and overwhelming, along with awesome and special. I wish i had done this more last time around.
when should you legit call the doctor vs. take a chill pill? whenever you think something is wrong, it never hurts to make a call. Bleeding, no movement (when you start to feel movement), headaches, pain, uncontrollable vomitting etc
what did you do/take for nausea? first time, I threw up 7-11 times a day for 20 weeks. I didn't take anything. I'm a clinical pharmacist and I didn't want to take any meds while pregnant. Best advice: eat small frequent meals or anything all through out the day. You get nauseous when you're hungry and when you're full. When you're nauseous, eat something and most likely you'll feel much better. Stay hydrated with water
what excuses did you use to say why you weren't drinking? i just told them I was pregnant. No use beating around the bush. Well once, I went early and just told the waitress to give me virgin everything when I ordered
what do you wish you knew then that you know now?
take care of yourself and allow people to help. Let people do things for you and the baby. Who cares if you think the way they do it is wrong. The more you do that, the more work you do and the less sleep you get and the less help you get. In the end, it honestly doesn't matter.
Postpartum is SO much harder than pregnancy and labor. Emotionally, physically, everything
I'm quite independent and I resisted help and thought I could go back to doing everything after I delivered. Oh man, i along with all my friends who did the same suffered and took longer healing post partum.
Fed is best. Formula is seriously ok! If you ask your parents, most of us in our generation was formula fed because back then it was thought formula was better and we all came out ok. I bf but i was miserable and sought out a lactation consultant too late. Had nipple lesions (my whole nipple was white because he ripped off the skin) and I had masititis. Seek out lc early. Feel your breast (esp under and on the sides and in your armpits) for lumps.
put stretch mark cream as early as possible on your stomach, boobs, back, thighs
did you take a babymoon? where/when did you go? i went home to Cali for my baby shower and wedding (I was a BM). Also went to Hawaii. Everyone told me to go somewhere relaxing that's not go go go (i.e. Europe).
Definitely copied down all of this. Thank you, ladies!
A question for STM's on what to buy new. We have a phenomenal re-sale board at work that is always full of baby stuff in good condition. Is there anything, especially furniture-wise, that you would NOT buy used?

I think just about anything used is fine, just make sure you check it over really well... see it put together and shake it around a bit to make sure it’s sturdy (for cribs and changing tables, etc.). My in-laws bought a used high chair and the straps were broken (not sure if they knew or not when they got it), but other than that, everything else we got used worked fine.
Make sure if you buy a car seat used you confirm that it wasn't in an accident and that it's not past its exp date (or that it won't hit it while you need it).

Oh yes! I completely forgot car seats!!! Those are the 1 thing that I wouldn’t buy used unless it was from someone that I know and trust to tell me if it was in an accident or not.
Just do a quick internet search to make sure used items haven't been recalled for safety issues, otherwise it's great. Last time I got everything used except a high chair. Saved me hundreds I'm sure!
I'm most likely getting a used infant seat, but it's from a close friend who's son will be on in May. I know she did her research on it and I know the seat hasn't been in an accident. Otherwise, I'd probably feel uncomfortable buying that used.
What should I be considering to buy or. Plan to prepare for the baby?
Ex. Mat clothes, baby stuff? I don't know... I'm excited lol
When did u guys start showing. I def have a belly, but I'm pretty sure it's bloating or food belly.. So when can I relax and know that it's the baby belly?? Lol
Hi @prheet. Let's try this again. First, glad you're here joining in on the threads.
1. If you're on the website, you will see notifications by a globe in the upper right hand corner when people comment on your post (unless you turn that setting off), or when they tag you. 2. There is a thread called HDBD. You can see people showing off their bumps there each week. Everyone's bump will likely appear differently and at different times due to everyone's body being different. I can appreciate the question and your excitement, but this is at least the fourth time you've asked and I am not sure you're going to get a quantified response. 3. Check out the Weekly Product Spotlight threads for STM's opinions on key products and read through the previous posts on this thread to get some answers. Also websites like Babylist and Amazon have starter lists on recommended registry items.
Again, welcome, and definitely spend some time catching up on some of the conversations to date!

Yea this is hard because the questions you're asking don't have real answers. Buy maternity clothes when you are having trouble fitting in your regular clothes. You can buy baby stuff when you see good deals, but otherwise I'd wait until your shower (if you're having one). Literally everyone starts showing at a different time. If you're using the App it's the worst and I rarely get notifications lol

I'm 12 weeks to buy.
