@babyclarke429 I just use Tide or all fragrance free. if you want something a little gentler than seventh gen or method are nice but my husband was convinced tide worked better. things like dreft are little better than washing in water AND have fragrance. so save your money!
@babyclarke429 I used dreft with my DD. Worked pretty good then when it ran out I washed one of her outfits with our clothes in our normal detergent and put her in it to make sure she didn't break out or anything.
@babyclarke429 I did some research on detergents a little while ago. I wanted to find a detergent that would be safe for baby but also make sense for all of us to use so I didn’t need to buy 2 different kinds and keep all the loads separate. I’m not really strict with all natural cleaning products in the house (still use things like 409 spray, etc) but wanted a detergent that had no fragrances or any of the “bad” chemicals that are usually found in detergents. I came across this article and ended up buying her #1 pick (Charlie’s Soap) off Amazon. I love it so far and the bag I got is going to last forever.
@babyclarke429 my MIL was shocked when I told her we weren’t going to use dreft—but we’ve been using our regular tide pods and never had a problem (and Dd has pretty sensitive skin).
I have this ridiculous monstrosity of a U-shaped pillow that has gotten me through all 4 pregnancies. It is not cheap and not small, but it is as comfortable as a real pillow (not too firm like others that I tried initially) and I’ve found that if I don’t have a pillow between my knees while side sleeping, I get really bad hip pain. With this one, I can roll from side to side without having to move/adjust anything, so it has worked well for me. DH on the other hand HATES it.
@mmmmkay@Dumbgurl04@frenchiekinplusone@rmmorris thank you all so much!! I’ll take a look at these. I have semi-sensitive skin so I tend to go with the no fragrance detergent as it is. I am hoping my LO has his dads skin. Thanks again

Don’t go gung ho and switch all at once! Make sure you do a test load with a bit of everyone’s clothes and try it out. Charlie’s broke out dh and ds! All free and clear and tide original powder work best for us.

This. We are a family with ultra sensitive skin and we’ve never had an issue with anything marked Free & Clear. I currently use All because it cleans great (even the gross kid’s clothes) and saves us a few bucks. Over the summer I was seduced by the smell of Tide with Downy and ended up with a horrible case of contact dermatitis. Never. Again.
My DD1 had bad eczema in her first year, and switching to free and clear detergents went a long way towards helping her (anything scent free, really). Also adding Aveeno eczema lotion immediately after baths helped immensely as well.
@babyclarke429 I make my own homemade detergent and absolutely love it. When I make this occasionally I also add some oils to add a sent if I feel like i want to. you only need 1 tablespoon 2 if it's a super heavy load. it last a long time.
@babyclarke429 we also use all free and clear! I have sensitive skin. We used dreft at the beginning and I LOVE the smell lol. It was just a little too expensive to use regularly.
It is raining cats and dogs here today and I have no desire to go to work.
@sunshine27shy That is the exact homemade detergent recipe I used to use and loved it for the most part but I found that after a while SO's work clothes and my workout gear developed a BO smell that never quite got washed out. So it was back to commercial detergent.
@icalynn that is why I occasionally use the oils it will cut that smell from you're clothes that you tend to wear more. i love lemon grass it gives it just a fresh scent without over powering from my experience.
This is VERY random but it has me so excited. There is a bill at the state level in Indiana that will allow alcohol sales on SUNDAY! I know it's probably strange to hear because it seems all other states allow carryout alcohol sales on Sunday, but Indiana is very behind the times. So far that bill has gone further in the voting process in the senate then it ever has and by a good majority. I really hope it passes because it will be so great to be able to buy some alcohol on Sundays. The closer I get to the end of this pregnancy the sooner my lips get to taste the cold delicious taste of beer. Because the past week has been a rough one and it would have been nice to have a little drink to take the edge off.
@Puddlewonderful we were still dealing with major cradle cap at 2 as well. We started using mustela foaming shampoo and this scalp brush for bath, and it's kept the cradle cap away for us. we love it!
@JJMNO1616 I hate when I do that. I try to bring so many extra snacks with me to avoid this. Sometimes though it doesn't help and my stomach feels like its endless.
@babyclarke429 I used Tide Free with no issue. DS had ridiculously sensitive skin, he even got a rash from the hospital blankets and I had to switch them out for ones I'd washed in Tide Free at home.
I am on what I call my first snack of the day. I have breakfast when I wake up usually something with protein. then second breakfast about 2 hours later usually fruit or granola bar. after that about 2 hour later I have a snack before I eat lunch

I had a yogurt at 8AM and that was it until I decided to eat my lunch. I really need to up my snack game or have a larger breakfast because yogurt is NOT cutting it for the 4 hours until noon.
@JJMNO1616 It sounds like you need a snack cooler/lunchbox in addition to the one for your lunch! When I was preg with DD and used to work 10 hour shifts on my feet all day in pharmacy, I used to have two coolers- one for lunch and one for snacks. In the snack one I'd put things like kind bars, think thin bars, apples, veggies and hummus, Greek yogurt, almonds, trail mix etc. I basically just grazed constantly all day since we never really took breaks. All the snacks FTW!
@JJMNO1616 I get to work at 6:30am and even though lunch is at 11:30am, I can't do it without a major snack around 9:30. I choose peanut butter usually or almond butter. That helps. Except it's 10:23 and I am SO READY FOR LUNCH.

I did really good with snacks my first trimester because I was scared of getting nauseous but then I went back to eating semi "normal" throughout second trimester (small breakfast, lunch and dinner). It's only recently that I feel hungry allll the timeee.
Another for All Free and Clear. After we ran out I tested an outfit of DS's with our regular detergent and he was fine, thankfully. And he has very sensitive skin,
@Dumbgurl04 my good friend lives in PA and they didn't (still don't? I can't remember if it's changed) have Sunday carryout alcohol sales. She had a few Sundays where she debated driving into Ohio, haha.
AFM, I just set up preschool screening for DS and I'm dying a little inside How is he so old aleady??
This is just a PSA. I got my Tdap shot this morning at my 30 week appointment. Make sure you have them put it in an arm you're comfortable with feeling sore. I'm already feeling its effect
Oh and I'm also an All Free & Clear kind of gal. Works great at getting stains out of my daughters clothes and shes never had an allergic reaction to it which states a lot because her skin is very sensitive.
@sapphires-and-diamonds when looking up states that have Prohibition-era Blue Laws (12 in total) it doesn't have PA as one but it is list that it depends on geographic/demographic areas. One thing it did say was Indiana is the only state in the country that bans beer, wine and liquor on Sundays so I guess my backwards state bans all booze while the other 11 limit what kind you can buy.
@mispanda I definitely had them do my shot in my left arm. I am glad as I could barely lift it!!
My random is: I FINALLY got measured at a maternity store for a proper bra. I no longer have four boobs (where the bra cut off my mid-boob circulation). And I’m not spilling out the sides under my arms.
@mispanda I feel your pain. I can breeze through almost any vaccine, and even shrug off Rhogam, which is notorious for soreness. But TDAP always feels like I tweaked a cow and got kicked for my troubles.
@ngolimento@mispanda dang! Only shot that makes me sore is the flu shot!! The others have been no problem. My OB does a "pain free" method that she like slaps your arm as she puts the needle in and injects the medicine, I wonder if thats why?

It both looked and felt Awful!
