I'm wearing tights today...I just realized I put them on backwards and have no desire or energy to fix this. Oh well...at least the butt support is holding up the blump. lol
Anyone not having a baby shower? I didn’t with my first because of disability and couldn’t fit everyone in my one bedroom apartment. We bought most of our registry too. I don’t think I’ll have one this time either because all of our friends and family are +1500 miles away. It does make me a little sad. I don’t care for the stuff just want to see them ya know.
@wildtot I'm not having one unless someone surprises me. I have a 2.5 yo so I already have most of what I need, so no big deal. Also being a SAHM makes your circle of friends get significantly smaller
@wildtot I'm not. A couple friends might do a tiny lunch out to celebrate or my coworkers might do something tiny but I'm not having a "real" baby shower.
I didn't have one with my last pregnancy either. I specifically asked friends to not worry about it. It's just not my thing. I appreciated my friends' and family's love and excitement and little gifts for the baby but the idea of a shower for me makes me cringe.
I'm sorry that you're not having one because your friends and family are so far away. Hopefully you'll still get some love from them and maybe a local friend or co-worker will surprise you.
@wildtot we have everything we need from the twins so we’re not having anything...if this baby is a girl I’m buying a bunch of headbands and she’s wearing her brothers hand-me-downs lol. I’m sure we’ll have a bbq or get together or something but we do that relatively regularly anyways so it won’t be baby-related. I’m sorry all your family and friends are so far away!
Thanks ladies for making me feel better. We won’t have to buy much either as it’s another boy. Maybe I’ll try to convince a friend/sister to come up early to at least hang out with someone.
Appreciate the all feedback on the shower timeline. I guess I've never been to one that early, but I do like the idea of being able to have time to actually put things away as needed. Honestly, I'd rather not have a shower, but there is no way around it with my mom, it's sort of the one thing I'm giving into her on during this pregnancy.
@comealongponds +1 for the OCD planner here. Well two actually, because DH is the same way. We have plans and lists and backup lists for all our lists. We can't do life otherwise. He's an Eagle Scout and I'm a military brat, so I don't know if it was natural to either of us or trained.
I hope everyone had a great weekend, I wasn't able to get on. I'm bummed I missed an interesting drama thread. In other news, sparking fizzy lemonade is baby's absolute new favorite drink ever.
@wildtot These twins are our first children and I’m not having a shower. Culturally it’s not something we really do and personality wise it is just not my style (didn’t have a bridal shower either). I’m sure friends and family will send some gifts and everything else we or our parents will pick up so...solidarity!
I wasn’t in much this weekend because I’m not usually on the weekends and my son was sick
I’m also not going to have a shower this time. My friend said kind of as an aside, “oh, we’ll definitely throw you a little sprinkle or something” but I’m sure that was just because I’m throwing her a baby shower. I won’t be too disappointed if they don’t.
I'm also bummed that I missed the drama. Boo.
My random- I have had a killer headache all day. It was about 50 degrees in PA today and so I had pretty much all the windows open and the house stayed about 75 degrees. That’s pretty cool for us at this point lol. Anyways the hot makes me miserable and even with the windows open I couldn’t avoid it.
@cseley321 the image of your daughter hurdling gates just made my night seriously picuring like a tiny Olympian running through your house, screaming, and it’s an amazing visual.
I almost posted in the ultrasound thread but remembered and stopped myself. Someone's ultrasound was labeled "baby" which just makes me laugh. I understand at 7 weeks or simething pointing it out but at 13 it's pretty easy to find So the label seems odd
I think I might have the flu, waaahh I woke up with a cough this morning that is getting worse and all of a sudden I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus and have a low grade fever. Assuming I still feel like crap in the morning I’m calling in sick to work and going to get tested for the flu. If so, I need tamiflu ASAP. I had the flu when I was pregnant with #3 and it was freaking miserable.

Weeeeeelllllll my randomness is that MY EAGLES ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!! HOLY SH****TTTTTT! I cannot stop crying about it. I have soooo many feelings.
Also, I need someone to start donating stuff my way, for real. I'm going to start a thread about it. This is my 3rd but we are starting over.
For reals though, I clicked on her name and saw that she posted the same thing on 14 threads. FOURTEEN THREADS guys!
@Sarafuss oh no hope it isn't @WorkinWeezel Sorry friend I do not share your enthusiasm. Wish the majority of he fans at the game had treated ours with a whole lot more respect and class. While we are big fans of wentz assaulting and threatening opposing fans makes me less than thrilled to be welcoming them into our home state.
@runsomewhere I am laughing way to hard at your tagging accidentally being "sarafussfingers" instead of @sarafuss. LOLZ.
@lindsayleigh1989 I do not care about the Eagles at all (and I super dislike the Patriots) but DH (who also hates the Patriots) says he is cheering for them this year because the Eagles booed Santa Claus, lol. So I guess he doesn't like the fans either. @WorkinWeezel I will be cheering for the Eagles because I am from Indiana and when I followed football more regularly was a Colts fan; I think I am genetically predisposed to hate the Pats.
I am moving my replies to FFFC here...@acunamatada thanks for the tip on Walgreens...the walmart closest to me doesn't have shea moisture I have to go further away but I DO have a walgreens.
also...@wildtot thanks for the tip on the target also but Vermont is one of the few states that is target free...at least until October 2018 when we finally get one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got really excited when I realized that's right after baby is here. I'll still have to drive over an hour but...#worthit.
Does anyone else not feel super connected to this pregnancy/LO yet? I just don’t feel like I’m as excited as I should be. I was originally leaning towards team green, but I’m thinking maybe finding out will help me feel more connected. we’ve made our big announcement and I’m starting to show, but it still doesn’t feel quite real that another tiny human will be here in less than six months. Then the mom guilt sets in and that makes me feel even more awful!
@Claireymary I understand what you mean! With my last pregnancy I was so worried about life I barely had time to think about the baby! You'll get there eventually, even if it takes til after they arrive! Hormones are weird, and life is stressful!
I know somewhere we talked about weed during pregnancy. I have read a bunch of articles about it and how there has been an increase in women using it theraputically. I'm not using marijuana nor do I plan to, but my midwives at a large, traditional hospital passed out this literature, which seems 100% against weed use during pregnancy, asserting a lot of statistics when I thought we didn't have a lot of research on this topic. Its just so different from what i had read i thought I'd share in case others were interested! Sorry if it's huge I'm on mobile.
@SmashJam interesting! Some of the claims on the left hand side seem ridiculous since I don't believe this is something they can even study, but I also assume they know what they need to say to keep at-risk people from smoking while pregnant. I've been so surprised at all of the articles I've seen about alcohol, like "are just a couple drinks ok?!" I'm sure people are all coming from different places but I'm totally avoiding anything, and I was quite the drinker
@ckmb_knottie yeah same, I am avoiding alcohol as well! I thought the most interesting part was that weed shows up 8 times higher in breastmilk! I would assume this is because its fat soluble, but that is the opposite of alcohol!
@Claireymary im with you on that. With DS i had so many issues that i didn’t enjoy one bit and it took months after birth to fully bond. This time around i still feel a bit reserved even though things are going better. I hope i don’t take as long to bond this time. Don’t feel ashamed!
I don't feel like I really bonded with my daughter until she started STTN I still feel awful about it. She was a rainbow/ivf baby, and I worked so hard to get her here and practically felt nothing but a zombie-like tiredness. I am really hoping this time around it will be better, because I still have immense mom guilt over it. I love her so much but barely remember her as a newborn
@acunamatada they did not cite one single study! I looked! It appears to have been put out by some Mothers For Addiction Recovery group or something, I cn't remember the exact group, so they have a bit of a bend. I saw literally NONE of that info in the other articles I read in Vice, Cosmo, Midwifery Today, etc. So my skepticism went off too. I admittedly read less than mainstream stuff sometimes (although cosmo and vice are pretty mainstream) so I was interested to see a conventional hospital's bend on the topic. I may ask next time I go in where the info comes from.
Add me to the list of not having a baby shower. I had several with DD and even though there are many things we'll have to buy this time, we plan just to buy them ourselves. We borrowed a car seat last time and it has since expired, so we need to buy one. We need a new crib. I'm pretty sure I want a double stroller. I think those are the only major items we'll need to buy.
@wildtot oh no that sucks! Hope you get out of there quickly.
I have to go to the dentist today too. I have a wisdom tooth that never came all of the way in, and normally it doesn't bother me. Well, I think it's infected. It hurts like heck, my coworker said she can see how swollen it is, and I am running a fever of 100.5. I have an appointment at 12:30 and I am so nervous that they are going to tell me they have to pull it. Can they use anethesia? Has anyone had a similar experience? HELP!
