Re: Questions w/o 1/15

  • Car seats.  I'm going crazy trying to figure out 1. Which carseat or seats to buy.  2. How to configure them in our van.

I want a convertible not an infant carrier.  But then I'll have 2 rfing (my youngest is only 2) in the second row captain seats making it difficult for my 8 and 5 year olds (who will be 9 and 6 when #4 is born) to get into the 3rd row.

Then I'm trying to decide if I should buy 2 seats or 1.  My 2 year old is rfing in a myride.  Do I get her a new seat and pass the myride on to the newborn for a few years until it expires?  Do i buy the baby a new seat instead and upgrade #3's in a few years?  Do I buy 2 new seats and research them to death in hopes they are less bulky than the myride?

Oh my gosh that was a novel.

  • Has anyone used a support band? I didn’t have one with DS because I didn’t feel like I needed one, but I’m much bigger already this time around, plus it’s twins so I know I’ll be huge. I already feel like my stomach is pulling down and it’s uncomfortable. Do the bands actually help? What kind do you recommend? Do you sleep in them?

  • @GoldAndCurls I would join the Car Seats for the Little’s group on Facebook. They’re great for helping solve car seat configuration questions!

  • I had some pretty crappy dreams lastnight; consistently the same...something was wrong with the baby. How do you ladies calm down from those types of dreams? I woke up angry and scared.

  • @comealongponds I just did last night!  Trying to get a feel for the place before I ask lolol.
  • @powellgirl yes I had to use on extensively last pregnancy and most likely will need to this pregnancy soon too. It helped my pelvic and spd issues a ton! while also providing belly support as I got larger

  • @GoldAndCurls we had a product spotlight in this group, just do a search for "car seats" in the July 2018 group and the thread will pop up, lots of helpful information!
  • @zombiehoohaa Same here! But always something I've done horribly wrong like not feeding the baby or it rolling off tables. I haven't figured out a fix yet but if you do let me know!
  • I 2nd the Car Seats for Littles group. Their admins will recommend based on car and child sizes.
  • @powellgirl I used one for #2 and should have for 1-it really helped with the back pain and constant pulling down I felt from the belly. I did not sleep in mine, I used the preggo pillows to help with the belly support when it got to be a problem. If you google "best pregnancy support band" google throws up a list for you and I think the highest rated is like, $25 on amazon! I thought they were great!
  • Thank you so much ladies!!
  • @zombiehoohaa same! Sometimes it’s something wrong with nugget, like last night I dreamed he/she tore their ACL in utero and the doctor told my husband the baby would never play football haha And sometimes there’s something weird, like two days after the baby was born they were walking, then the next day talking, then the next reading.

But they always wake me up and I rarely fall back to sleep after. I don’t know if we can make them stop... but anyone knows of anything to help, I’m all ears.
  • @zombiehoohaa I also have been having crazy dreams.  It's tough.  I usually get up and get a glass of water, then sometimes I read my kindle a little in bed until I calm down.  Can't figure out a way to make them stop, so just trying to develop a routine for regrouping afterward - especially since sometimes I have multiple "episodes" a night.

Unrelated - anyone getting a lot of weird aches and pains in the lower abdomen area?  I'm 16 weeks and suddenly feeling all sorts of weird stuff and it's freaking me out a bit.  Terrified that I'll tell my bosses (today) and then find out on Friday with my appt that something bad has happened.  But weird pains are normal(ish) around this time, right...?

@zombiehoohaa ugh that reminds me @adventuresawait1 I had the worst pregnancy nightmare to date last night and thought of you. It was so realistic I couldn’t fall back asleep. Why can’t all the dreams be funny and entertaining?

ETA most likely RLP @adventuresawait1, I’ve been getting those pains a lot recently too. It can be unsettling but it’s normal.. I hope it means lots of growing!
  • @adventuresawait1 sounds like round ligament pain, totally normal and can vary from crampy to sudden shooting pains. It's from everything stretching and loosening up in there.

  • @adventuresawait1 I’ve started cramping on and off too, usually in the evenings. Started around 14 weeks... think it’s normal!

@acunamatada aw.  Yes, rooting for dreams to start becoming funny!

@runsomewhere @rachelsogo @acunamatada So very much appreciate the reassurance!  It does seem like it's more in the evenings...or maybe that's just when I'm sitting on my couch and notice it more.

  • @adventuresawait1 I’ve been having those pains for a week or two now (suspect they stated early because twins) and have bothered my OB about it several times. She always says it’s just RLP/normal stretching and growing so for now I’m letting that comfort me. Glad others on here agree! She said I might need a support belt or something soon to help. I feel like I’m not big enough yet to justify it but in a month or so I’ll probably get one.
  • @powellgirl I used one last pregnancy and plan to again this pregnancy. I didn't need it too often but always had it with me for when I went on longer walks. The back pain towards the end became almost unbearable and lasted for a few weeks pp. Definitely recommend them and they are pretty cheap!

@zombiehoohaa +1 to the scary dreams. Pregnancy brings out the nightmares for me. I found that talking about the dream helped a lot. My H was bummed to hear that I was having such scary dreams but once I got them out, I felt better and they stopped.
  • @zombiehoohaa @Kenya715 another +1 for scary nightmares. I have had some very graphic and frightening ones. One night I had two in a row about death of my husband and brother. I woke up in tears! It has helped to talk about it with my husband and luckily I haven’t had another one of those since. I always try to say a prayer before I fall asleep. The worst!
  • Okay, so today I have coughed once and sneezed once and both times I got a sharp stabbing pain right above my pubic bone. Is this RLP? FTM so I have no idea if this is normal or if i should be concerned.  14 + 5 today.

  • @MrsMiller8588 yep, pretty normal for that to happen. I think I googled it once and it said something similar along the lines sharp pains when you move to fast or do thinks like sneeze or cough. Totally sucks I know.
  • @MrsMiller8588 yup rlp it sucks and i definitely get it if I get up or turn to quickly or sneeze and dont clench my thighs haha

  • @wildtot and @lindsayleigh1989 thank You! Guess I'm going to have to try the clenching thighs trick! So glad for this community that I wasn't completely caught off guard!

  • @MrsMiller8588 yup that's it! I had it happen once right in front of Hubby. I was squatting and then I coughed which resulted in me laying down onto the ground groaning. Hubby was frightened about what just happened and I had to assure him it's totally normal.
  • @MrsMiller8588 Fun, right? It's awful, but totally normal. Our bodies produce a hormone that helps loosen up the ligaments so they can stretch as our belly grows, but when that round ligament tightens too quickly (like during a sneeze) it literally acts like rubber band snap. I was terrified when they started with my first pregnancy. I've learned to just flex my stomach and hip flexors before I do, well, pretty much anything lol. @nimmle Thats cute. My husband pretty much just looks at me like I'm crazy.

About those dreams. Yeah, those totally suck. I usually just go to the bathroom to prove to myself that there's no blood, so nothing to indicate anything is wrong, then distract myself with HAPPY baby things, like organizing my baby to do list or checking in on the Bump. Wish I had better advice for you :(

  • anyone ever fall while pregnant? I decided to walk through a snow bank like a dummy today so to save time. I belly flopped super hard on a mound of snow. The impact of all my weight was directly on my stomach as it hit the peak of the mound. It felt like a kick in the stomach. I could not have fallen worse for a pregnant person. I went immediately to my OB and all looks fine but I still feel worried. He said the concern would be more for the placenta than the baby at this point of pregnancy because the baby is still deep in there and really padded. I go back Thursdays. No bleeding but my belly hurts. Scared but not sure if the pain is just in my head.
  • @wildtot @lindsayleigh1989 omg huge revelation for me too! That has been happening to me too and I had no idea that’s what it was
  • ugh, sorry that happened @babybakie :( I hope you start feeling better soon
  • @babybakie I’m sorry you fell! I would trust your doctor. They’re not going to sugar coat it for you. And he’s right. Baby is in a big water ballon and nice and comfy cozy.
  • @babybakie try to trust your ob.  I imagine that is very anxiety provoking though!

@babybakie oh no! I’m so sorry you fell! I fell twice with DS, once around 20weeks and once literally two days before I ended up going into labor. I’m so uncoordinated, but all was fine. I’d trust your doctor, baby is still super protected, but that’s so scary!
  • @babybakie rest up! And I agree to trust your doctor, that is so scary though! I hope you're feeling a bit better already.
  • @babybakie how scary! Take it easy and I agree, trust your doctor. Baby is very safe in there! Let us know how your appt tomorrow goes.
  • @babybakie I'm glad everything looked ok at the OB's, that's a great sign, definitely a scary experience *hugs*

  • @babybakie I’m glad everything looks ok! I slipped in the driveway walking th dog the other day but I caught myself on my hands and knees, landing on your belly must have been so scary! Try and relax and eat some ice cream or something, you deserve it!

  • I’ve been feeling a lot of stretching, cramping, uncomfortable pains in my lower stomach, too. Of course because I thought I felt baby the other day and then haven’t felt that again, I’m thinking, omg somethings wrong. Lol.

I have pretty consistent bad dreams dreams as well. I just try to rationalize; I have had A LOT of dreams that haven’t come true, so I bet these won’t either.
  • May have missed this conversation---   Anyone else starting/started baby aspirin?  I finally picked it up today.

I had HELLP syndrome with #2 (luckily no issues with #3).   I'm terrified of having another delivery like #2's.
