I live in the south where people freak out about a single snowflake on the ground. We've had a big departmental meeting planned for weeks this afternoon. I got here early to get some work done beforehand and just got an email that the meeting is postponed. Not a soul is here in the office. Seriously, it's not even snowing--just a threat of snow, and the high is supposed to be 40, which means snow cannot stick when the temp is above 32. Normally, I would not be annoyed at a meeting being cancelled, but we really needed this meeting to happen, it's before the semester when no one has any conflicts so no one had an excuse to not show up. Yet the office is a ghost town and I'm the only sucker here working, which is just kind of depressing. And we have motion sensor lights and so the hallways are all dark, which just adds to the depressing feeling of being the only person working on a Monday morning!

@vinerie that sucks!! It always makes me laugh when the south shuts down like that though. I’m sorry I don’t remember where you’re from that you’re comfortable driving and don’t have that mentality - but I hope you take cues from them and dip out early even though it would have been good to have the meeting!

I’m working from home today because DS has a nasty cough and I’m trying to get him to lay on the couch but I can hear him playing and every few minutes he finds a reason to get off the couch. I keep threatening that I’m going to take him to school but he’s a smart 4.5 year old, he knows that’s not happening because I’m enjoying working in my pjs haha. I just made us croissant breakfast sandwiches. Mmmm

however, schools are closing 3 hours early because we’re supposed to get freezing rain so maybe a good thing we’re home!

My elderly 18yo cat stole and ate a biscuit from my plate while I had my back turned finishing the steeping on my tea.

I caught her trying to snag a second one, seated on the stool under the bar, a quiet paw reaching up and feeling the counter for my plate...that I moved away. I poked her paw and she peeked around the corner with this "Who, me?" look.

I can't be too mad, but I was really looking forward to the last two biscuits with some gravy.

@vinerie I’m also in the south and it cracks me up. But I also get ridiculously excited for snow.

Born and raised on Colorado, so I feel a license to make fun of the way the south shuts down at the sight of a snowflake--or temps that fall below 40 for that matter!

My BF is at my H. My coworker is a wonderful woman and gave us a bed. Particulars about bed in the Spoiler. 

Coworker and her husband bought a new Queen bed. Frame + mattress + bedspring + all the bedding several months ago. They decided after the '100% money back' time frame that they wanted a King instead. No big deal, except it was only like a $200 trade-in for this new queen. So they decided to give us this queen and just get a king without the trade-in. Super nice of coworker and her DH, as this queen is like 6 months old. 

Anyways, we get this new bed last night, and I can't sleep unless there is a tv going in the room. I get nasty nightmares and panic attacks, so we HAVE to have a tv in our room. Not a big deal, except H won't let me get a POS one for our room. He wants to save up and get a 4K one. So last night we split the littles and I had L in the living room with the TV. He had E in the bedroom. This morning I get up, shower, dress, L changed and dressed; we are ready to walk out the door 15 minutes early. I go back to check on H and E. They are still ASLEEP, and we need to be loading the car in the next 10 minutes. So H made me 20 minutes late for work as we have 1 car and he is the first drop off.

I am the most angry I have been in a very very long time. I am the hub manager for my company for our San Francisco location and we recently moved to a new office. I took so much time last week and got everything in the new office the way I wanted it and my dumb ass assistant manager who thinks he owns the place decided to change everything I did this weekend while I was off. Luckily I get here an hour before everyone else because the anger I had when I first walked in would not have been healthy or productive to anything. I ripped everything off the wall they had put up (it was meant to be marketing material, not fun stuff for the wall) and rearranged the furniture by myself. He certainly got the point when he walked in this morning.

The genetics lab confirmed they sent my Panorama results to my doctor Friday and again today, but I went in for an appointment and he still hadn't received them. I am on the edge of my seat for the results. Also, it took us 1.5 hours to get to my doctor's today because of the snow, but then it turns out DS1 couldn't even get his 4YO shots because he is 4 days shy of 4. I wish they had told me that when I booked his appointment.

Disclaimer: everything is okay with me and with baby. Was having intense cramping and spotting since I woke up this morning. After talking to my OB, went to emergency room to rule out ectopic pg. Turns out the spotting is SCH, and no real reason for the intense cramping. I'm obviously very relieved, I'm just frustrated that I spent a scary 5 hours in the emergency room for something that turned out to be relatively harmless. Dr wants me to stay away from running until my appt on the 18th and take Tylenol for the cramping. 
On a lighter note, we're getting a warm front! High of 39 tomorrow and Wednesday!
@calimom2524 kudos to you for not losing your shit on him. I certainly would have.

As for me, I'm just irritated at my job. I have kind of a weird job where I am employed by the county but I also do stuff on behalf of the state health department. Well, the health department moves at a snail's pace and just today informed me that I have a huge project due in ... 21 days. It's technically an annual project that they didn't even make us do last year because they were still refining the particulars. So I am completely in over my head and just want to cry. 9/10 my job is super chill and I love it but this health department stuff ....

Thanks everyone! @Firemanswife11 that is super frustrating. It almost makes it harder to deal with those giant last-minute projects if the atmosphere you're used to is pretty relaxed. You can do it!

I have a phone meeting with a bunch of people in my department today and the guy leading it is eating while he's hosting. So I'm stuck in hell listening to him chew and talk and talk and chew. Oh and the crunching.

My only BF is that work is kind of slow for me today. Other people are busy, so I’m trying to look busy. I’m fairly new so I’m always nervous.

I sent a courtesy email to my office on my new schedule that I decided on with my manager. I’m on a remote team so it’s just me in the office so I have flexibility to split my time between here and Home so that’s exactly what I’m doing half and half. 

The receptionist, who I have no direct responsibility towards, popped into my office to ask if my calendar will reflect when I’m out running errands and appointments, etc. The more I think about this the more it annoys me. 

1. My calendar is always up to date 
2. If I have to run an errand it’s none of your concern anyway
3. There is literally nothing that she could need that is so urgent it couldn’t wait 30 minutes for an appointment or errand to be run
4. What does she think my WFH days will be anyway? A free for all? No. I will be working. At home. And available if something comes up. 

Ugh.

Yay! Meeting is over! Thanks for the sympathy everyone! On a lighter note, I'm seeing some siggys pop up! Between a siggy challenge, our first catfish / AE situation and a few Ramzi threads I feel like we're a real, grown up BMB lol!

I missed the catfish, too?! I was MIA this weekend though because we had a ton going on. 

My my only complaint is 1) it’s a Monday. 2) it’s a full week of work after a couple of short ones with holiday 3) month end (and right now year end) is the craziest time for my department, so I feel like I’m slowly digging myself out of a pile of work, emails and reports. It’s never ending!

My FIL has been sick since Christmas. He’s mad that MIL & our niece who lives with them aren’t babying him. DH got called into work yesterday to fix a broken machine, got home around 7pm. His last day off was NYD. MIL called requesting I run out and buy a male urinal bottle thing for FIL to pee in because he doesn’t want to walk to the bathroom. They should have at least 20 from previous hospital stays but can’t find any. I told them no. Weather is horrible. I’m not paying $15 at the local pharmacy for something for him to piss in, and I’m not driving way out to Walmart to buy one for $6 in horrible weather. So now they’re mad at me because I told them to have FIL use a Gatorade bottle or an empty milk jug. Dumbest thing ever.

does he have major health issues or is he just being lazy? I feel like ‘not feeling like walking to the bathroom’ is super ridiculous just in general, but I don’t know the whole story so maybe there’s other stuff going on there.

School started back up today. I hate my new schedule. I drop DS off at 815 and then my first class isn’t until 11:30. I just got home about 2:15, wolfed down a salad and I am exhausted. I was thinking yesterday (well, the last two weeks really) how I have felt so good. I puked in the shower this morning. The fatigue is real, along with this intense headache I have.
