@peppersmith22 ugh that makes me so mad for you! Your poor little guy! I got similarly pissed at DS’s daycare last week- he had been really sick but was on the mend so we sent him for a short day so he could get reacclimated and told them to call us at the slightest concern. Apparently he laid down on the floor around 11am and slept until past 3. They didn’t even move him to his cot!!! We were so pissed when we finally heard at the end of the day.
Right!? @dan0081@sapphires-and-diamonds@Dumbgurl04 He seems to be doing better today so far on Motrin but I let the daycare director know next time to please try another number!
@puddlewonderful That's crazy! I can't believe they didn't put him on his cot-just let him sleep on the floor I hope you told the director or someone what happened. Usually ours is really good but they dropped the ball this time.
@peppersmith22 That's ridiculous! If you haven't already, I would have a conversation with the director to make sure they understand and have the correct phone numbers that they should be calling. If they had access to your cell phone I don't know why they wouldn't have called all available numbers. That's unacceptable on their part.
My wtf is a day late (we were visiting my mom and just got back yesterday). I love my mom, but she called me this morning to ask if DS was less crabby now. He was actually mostly good the whole time we were there, but the last night we were there we went out to eat dinner and he was kinda cranky until we let him watch his Kindle and play with cars (we don't go out to dinner with him anymore, but my mom wanted to go out that night). So I told her, yeah he's fine. Then she says, "Do you ever yell at him? Sometimes you need to yell at kids to get them to stop what they're doing." Um, I'm pretty sure that had we yelled at our 2 year old in the restaurant, it would have gotten real ugly real fast. WTF mom? And she complains about how my brother (who was always getting yelled at when we were kids) doesn't talk to her about what's going on with him and doesn't keep in touch like I do. I love my mom, but was a little taken aback by her parenting advice. We don't plan on yelling as a way to get our kids to do what we want them to do.
@peppersmith22 wow that's messed up! My daycare calls until they get a hold of someone. Especially since once a kid has a fever like that, they aren't allowed to be there...you'd think they'd try harder! And to let him just sleep that long and not check his temp again.... I'd be pretty mad! Also, glad to know it's nothing serious for you!
@irenejean Um yeh... I'm sure every parent has their moments when they raise their voice towards their children but to use yelling at your 2yo as a parenting strategy? I'd probably consider some other options personally.
@peppersmith22, we have a very similar thing happen with DS when he was two, and we ended up switching daycares over it. He had fallen and cut near his eye open on a corner of a table. They called me work, but neither cell phone to DH or myself. He went most of the day and was still bleeding when I got there, and ended up needing it glued shut. So frustrating. I hope your LO feels better soon!
@okayrunner That's awful!! With something like that there's no way you could get trust back - how could they let him go bleeding the whole day!?
@irenejean I'm also not a fan of yelling at a toddler... why would that be your mom's go to parenting advice? Also it would bug me if somebody would call the next day asking if my DS was still crabby. Like he's a kid, sometimes they're crabby. All people are crabby sometimes!
I know it’s late but I have a serious WTF and need to vent. I ordered our stroller system mid December and followed up this week because it hadn’t been shipped yet. Received tracking number and it was due to be delivered yesterday. With the bomb cyclone I assumed it would be held at the post office and delivered today. I check this morning and the package was delivered- to AZ! I live in MA. I am so pissed; I can’t submit a claim with UPS bc the package was delivered and the store isn’t answering my calls. I guess this is what I get for shopping local.
edited to clarify that the address was correct. So I am truly boggled as to how it got delivered to AZ but hopefully whoever accepted the package (also a dick move) needs a new stroller and car seat.....
@angiek1@frenchiekinplusone yep! In their rush to get me the tracking info (why rush? I have no idea) they gave me the wrong info. Thankfully! Should be here Wednesday. I need to start a google sheet with all the items I’ve ordered online so I can follow up as needed; it’s getting ooc.
