@hardlyhannah@juliebird6 I just ran out of bagels for like, the 2nd time in 10 days because I can't stop eating them! Luckily I made coffee cake so I've been subbing that for a few days but not the same. Tomorrow the budget starts over I can go to the store again, lol.
I see no where else to post, but I have to share my excitement! Two things that are must-haves IMO is a rock n play and a baby carrier. My youngest is almost 4, and the ergo is trashed. I still have her rnp, but for $29, I couldn’t pass it up! It was mismarked, as the regular version is on clearance and the deluxe is full price $89.99. Thank you Target!
@kcdo1010 Awesome deals on both!! Can't hurt to have more than one rnp. We literally have one for every floor of our house so we didn't have to carry it around with us. Talk about lazy!
@hardlyhannah omggggg jealous of your motivation to make them yourself! I hope they turn out amazing!!
Getting caught up as we pack for our trip tomorrow... grape nuts rock, we ate them all the time when we were kids. Little brown sugar and warm milk, so much yum!
@hardlyhannah I tried to make bagels once and they turned out like little hockey pucks. Can’t wait to see the final result! Would you mind sharing your recipe?
@kcdo1010 the rock n play is a lifesaver!!! Awesome deals! Congrats!
I’m hesitant to snark it up too much in the new ramsi thread, I got my first warning on the last one and I’m not sure where the admins draw the line for warnings. So I’ll save it for any potential anti-vax nutjobs that deserve a royal flaming.
Getting my Panorama test blood draw in 30 minutes and of course now I am psyching myself out that it will be too early and inconclusive. The test can be done as early as 9 weeks, and I am 9 weeks today based on ovulation and dating ultrasound, or 9w2d based on LMP (never as accurate for me because I ovulate late). The next appointment they had for a blood draw wasn't for another week so I figured better to just do it now but I'm just hoping it will have enough fetal DNA!
@alinafed OMG YAY!!! That is so exciting! We should start one of those “I’m just here for the sex” threads. I imagine plenty of ladies will be finding out soon!
We loved the self rocking RnP, we need a new one because our rocking mechanism broke. I told DH we’re getting 3 just in case the same thing happens this time.
@meeks2020 it's a freestanding little thing that has a small incline and the baby just lays in there. Wonderful for babies with reflux. Or, any baby at all. We used ours for naps during the day while DD was tiny and could nap in the living room while I was on leave. She also slept in one at night next to our bed (this was a must have because of her reflux). We literally used it until she rolled over on her belly and tried to climb out of it. It was a sad day when we had to put it away.
@meeks2020 there is danger in using them for sleep because of the angle. The baby can slump over and block airways so if you do use it for sleep keep a close eye on the baby.
We used it for DS until about 6mo and the. We coslept. He was always in eyesight when in the RnP because we were paranoid first timers

You guys. They’re amazing. This is the first time I’ve ever made bagels and this is the recipe I used: www.allrecipes.com/recipe/220619/real-homemade-bagels
Changes I made: all purpose flour because I didn’t have bread flour, 4 cups flour and 2 extra tbps water because the dough was way too dry, and I did have honey in the water while boiling the crust could be crustier but the inside is perfect!

@meeks2020 I think there is a risk of SIDS with literally every baby sleeping gadget you can find. We have a halo bassinet that I *really* wanted to use and love, but it just didn't work for us for DD. The RnP was the only thing she could sleep in because of her reflux. I know several other STM+ whose kids have slept in RnPs, but obviously you can only do what you are comfortable with.
@hardlyhannah thanks for posting that recipe those bagels look AMAZING and so much better than the ones I made last time around! I am going to make them tomorrow!
Bagels look great! I’m a huge fan and always have so me from the local food place in my freezer (pre cut so easy to toast!)
reminds me of my youngest oregnancy when I made homemade pretzels COUNTLESS times! Yummmmm
this morning I was desperate for a bowl of special k with whole milk. Which I don’t have. I think I am hungry but sick in the mornings, and while I need to eat I can’t. So it probably seemed like a nice light option.
of course it’s cold as balls and kids are out of school so trekking to the store just for that seems really unappealing
@meeks2020 I'm with @juliebird6 on the sleeping thing. My son had reflex and the only way he could sleep for the first 6 months was in a motion-less swing. @pghctwife I need to learn to make soft pretzels, recipe recommendations?
@kindbytealikat I used Alton browns recipe! They were awesome. Maybe I know what I’m doing today... hmmmm with my u/s yesterday I had ZERO planned for today and this weekend (excepting nye), so I’m kinda wide open now. I did Xmas gift crafts with all 3 kids already and since I’m happy I have energy lol.
I make the pretzels 1/2 the size. They freeze great! I found that putting a frozen one in a little sandwich bag in the microwave for like 30 sec worked to keep it soft to reheat. They were great for my anti-sweets pregnancy snacks. I didn’t have pretzel salt and used sea salt I think? Kosher would work too just be careful not to overdo it since it’s finer.
good with butter brushed on top and then cinnamon sugar!
kinda messy with the boiling baking soda water though.
For me the first ultrasound was crucial to making my pregnancy "real". I was too apprehensive to do any kind of planning, or even much acknowledgement of my pregnancy before I got to see a heartbeat and a sac. The ultrasound can be a bit nerve wracking, but the result was that I had a ton of anxiety lifted, and could start to enjoy the process. Good luck!

This is my life. I feel like my family is more excited than I am right now because I don’t have proof. I’ll feel much better (hopefully) after seeing that baby beat.

Re: Weekend Randoms 12/23 & 24
Yet another Ramzi thread has popped up.
@juliebird6 and @SmashJam I couldn’t wait. I have dough rising right now. I’ll share pictures with the final result! I’m really pretty excited.
