@hardlyhannah@jsnakehole i believe the manufacturers advise against first tri use just in case the vibrations could cause harm. I don't think the same applies to actual massages. I had a prenatal massage last time, though I was further on. Id suggest contacting the massage parlour you go to and asking them their opinion.
@jsnakehole don't worry about the gel mani, go for it! I know what you mean about the paranoia, I had/have that too, it sucks! But as long as you aren't blatantly disregarding common sense and medical advice, you shouldn't worry about causing harm.

@jsnakehole and others looking to get a massage: they aren't recommended in the first trimester. Even when I had a car accident (rear-ended in first tri), I couldn't find someone to give me a massage! When you get a pedicure, you also need to make sure they don't massage your achilles tendons. I forget why but I think it had something to do with inducing labor.
@Firemanswife11 - I'm all about the curbside but that's because I'm lazy lol!
About the Achilles tendon - I heard the same thing, not from my OB or anything but from my pedicurist! She said that reflexology can be used to induce labor for women over 40 weeks by massaging the Achilles tendon / heel area so she always avoided it with pregnant ladies.

Around here we just got back from Hawaii, and I have had food poisoning for the last two days, Really freaked out what it could do to my 7 week fetus. My doc says I'll be okay but my FTM nerves are freaking the F out right now.
@hannerbananers baby has no idea you're sick, so take comfort in that. If you can't keep fluids down at all, go to the ER for an IV. Otherwise don't stress to much. Feel better soon!

Thank you, I was able to keep fluids down after the 24 hour mark so I stayed home, but next time I'm going in for sure!

^^^ Ugh. My son just got over type A. His case was super mild, I think because he had the flu shot. I hope your little guy stays flu free!

@mrsbubbles-2 he's good so far. His cold and cough he's had for about a week sounds really junky but he has asthma so it's kind of par for the course. No flu symptoms yet, and hopefully never.
Essential oils are super powerful and can cross the placenta. There are some that can actually (accidentally or otherwise) be used as abortaficients or cause other issues. Really, too many people use them 99% wrong and are probably causing irreparable damage to their bodies but people don't like to hear that...I have still been using EOs on my kiddo for immune support but I have him rub them in or make my husband do it. I don't stay in the room if I'm diffusing them for the guys either.
@Firemanswife11 it makes me so nervous how people use essential oils. They are powerful! I once overheard someone recommend a pregnant lady to take lemon EO and honey (yes, ingest it) and I fortunately found her later and urged her not to do it! People think because it’s “natural” it’s safe. Umm, lots of poisons are “natural”. Doesn’t mean you should ingest them.

@jaztastic Are you using the app? Get a gif link thant ends in .gif and click the icon above the box where you enter text on TB app that looks like a little picture of a mountain and it will say "insert image URL" or something to that effect. Post the link and click go. You can also do this on website (as opposed to the app). At least I can on the computer, not sure about the mobile site.

Definitely include me on the book club list! I love reading. Actually I did so much reading during the first few weeks of breastfeeding DS because he fed something like 6-8 hours a day. Although, I needed lighter reading then, because I was reading in like 20 minute chunks all throughout the day and I was a little sleep deprived.
@firemanswife11 I hope the flu stays away! I have a huge fear of it too, but adding in asthma for your DS must make it much worse for you! fx!

Hey guys, I know we don’t know each other very well yet, and this is totally an NBR AW, but I would really appreciate some good vibes. I just found out my mom had a seizure this afternoon at work. She is conscious and lucid, but they are still running tests. I’m a few hours from them, and its just an altogether stressful and worrisome situation.
