    1) How are you feeling?
32 on Wednesday! I slept funny last night so my hips hurt but otherwise doing good

    2) Any appointments this week?
Just an online checkin of my blood sugars with the gestational diabetes clinic

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
baby is still hanging out breech

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
We haven't made any plans yet

  • 32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Well I have that cold you guys all had last week.
    Broken 4th toe= overall miserable.

    2) Any appointments this week?
Yep my weekly appointment Tuesday at 4.
    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave- Tuesday is 1/2 day and we are off until Jan 3. I can make it a day 1 1/2.
Other rave- started Sutton's room...getting excited.

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
More than likely just staying in.

@LadyMillil my gals breeched as well.  She's stubborn like her mom. Not growing on track and breeched..shes doing things her way.

    1) How are you feeling?
Anxious.  Having some preterm labor symptoms since Friday, been in and out of the hospital, things are under control for now but just taking it one day at a time! Fingers crossed LO stays put at least a few more weeks.

    2) Any appointments this week?
Follow-up midweek, unless there's any reason I need to be seen sooner.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Any other STMs start to dilate and efface at 31 weeks? If so, how long did you wind up making it? Seems to me that PTL is quite the enigma, and lots of moms still carry to term, but just trying to collect anecdotal evidence :)

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
No plans.  I'm largely on activity restriction (not bed rest, but staying off my feet and resting when I can) and we have a toddler at home, so hopefully my husband cooks a yummy meal and we get to bed eraly.
  • @psm2462 I'm sorry to hear you were in and out of the hospital! I hope things slow down. Stay in there, baby!

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Generally good. Abdominal muscle pain and constant peeing are my only complaints. Saturday night at H's family Xmas party I was drinking water all night but didn't pee much. Then we got home and I went six times through the night. Why does it take so long to work its way through??

    2) Any appointments this week?
Appointment on Thursday where I hope to get an U/S but I doubt I will. Last time my doc said they'd have to do one at some point to check the size of my fibroids.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I'm worried about exposing the baby to illnesses before he's immunized, and I was worried particularly about him being around H's family at his cousin's wedding in April; I worry the family would prioritize affection over baby's safety. So I was talking to MIL on Saturday and she said that the baby better "be prepared" for a lot of "hugs and kisses" at the wedding. I said "The good news is he'll have his 2-month shots by then, but he still needs to be away from anyone who's sick!" She nodded emphatically and said "Oh absolutely, we don't want him catching anything!" and that makes me so relieved because she was the number 1 culprit I was worried about! She'll also likely be holding him a lot of the time at the wedding so she'll be a good bouncer.

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
One of my friends texted our group chat to ask what everyone's plans are and I wrote back "I'm not doing anything since I'm in bed at 8:30." H also asked if I wanted to go out (I'm guessing he wants to do something with his friends) and I said no, I'm staying in. And my FIL asked if we're doing anything for New Year's Day, like going to my parents' or if my brother would come over, and I said no and found it an odd question. I know my ILs do a New Year's dinner because MIL is German and there's a tradition there, but do others have gatherings on New Year's Day? For me it's just a day off work.

@psm2462 +1 for anxiety!  I hope baby stays put and the next few weeks are uneventful for you!
    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Physically feeling pretty good.  There's lots of back and rib pain when I stand for long periods of time (which I do a lot at work).
    2) Any appointments this week?
Had an appt and growth scan this morning.  Baby is weighing in at about 4.1 lbs, which is the 69th percentile, and apparently has a TON of hair already.  DH and I were not surprised since I have a ton of hair and he used to have a ton of hair.  The u/s tech, however, was pretty amazed.  My fasting glucose numbers are still not consistently under 95, so they increased by insulin a bit.  I am supposed to start NSTs next week, but we have plans to be away and they said it wasn't a big deal, so we will start the first week in January.
    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant: I was totally sleeping through the night until this weekend :(
    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?

New Year's Day is bigger than NYE in my city, with a huge parade and party.  We will be in the mountains for  NYE and probably in bed pretty early.  I will miss the parade the next day, because I'll be driving back and I am definitely way too pregnant for the all day/all night party that goes along with the parade.  I am, however, looking forward to taking the LO to the parade next year.  It's a huge tradition here!

ETA: @eggplantface I'm glad your MIL is being supportive! I have the same fears about exposing the baby to too many sick people before he is vaccinated.  We are going to visit my ILs for a long weekend in March since DH has to travel there for work, and I know my MIL's "crew" will want to visit.  I'm hoping she will have the same attitude as your MIL.  Then we are going to BIL's 50th birthday celebration in FL in early April and I already told DH I am prepared to "stop by" the party and head back to the hotel on my own.
  • @Chawk17 - Hope you feel better! I still don't feel like 100%.
@psm2462 - Yikes! Also keeping fingers crossed that LO stays in for a few more weeks.
@eggplantface - It's great to have supportive family! My Mom is a nurse, so hoping she will be able to spread the news that there's no way that we will be around sick family members with our LO.

    1)How are you feeling?
Not bad for 8 months pregnant! This weekend, I actually slept through the night without getting up to pee! It's a miracle!

    2) Any appointments this week?
I have one later today for a quick checkup. Looking forward to another U/S at 34 weeks!

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave - looking forward to spending the holidays with my ILs this weekend. Spent this past weekend with my parents, and thankful that they have been very supportive, generous with spoiling baby already, and will be able to help with childcare when I go back to work! Not many questions - I'll be looking at old threads on what to pack in my hospital bag after I attend our childbirth/hospital orientation in a few weeks. Lots of great info!

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
Still trying to figure out plans for NYE, but probably something on the low-key end. Past few years, DH and I did the open bar events that go past midnight. Lately, it's hard for me to stay up past 11pm! As for New Year's Day, like @babybro218, there's a huge parade in our city which everyone goes out for! I will probably go out for a little bit, but do not want to stay out all day. I have to work the next day!
  • 32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
I think all the symptoms decided to hit me at once this weekend.  So, so hormonal...crying at the drop of a hat.  Aches and pains and shortness of breath all weekend.  The good thing is now that it's Monday and I'm back to sitting behind a desk instead of running around all day, I feel much better.  Never thought I'd look forward to Mondays...

    2) Any appointments this week?
No, had check-up and ultrasound last week.  Still waiting on feedback from ultrasound.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
My 2.5 year old decided that 4am was a good time to wake up for the day this morning.  He laid in bed with us and was quiet until 5 and then he sat up and said "Not sleepy.  Go downstairs!"

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?

I'm the ultimate New Year's grouch and being pregnant I will definitely be going to bed early and doing nothing.  I love getting up early though, so hopefully I will wake up early New Year's day and enjoy the morning before anyone else is up.  Although chances are not great (see last response).

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
My pelvis feels like it is ripping apart when I move, besides that just some minor shortness of breath

    2) Any appointments this week?
    Not till next week

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I was up all night the last 2 night with a pukey 2 y. o.... then DH tells me he needs me to do bedtime last night because he is just SO exhausted... excuse me?!?!? I did not see you sleeping on the couch half awake in anticipation jumping to run DS to the bathroom...

in other news I had DS at 38 weeks which is only 6 weeks out now...  crazy!!!

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
Hopefully going to bed early. We also do rubens with my family

@psm2462 - I asked to get checked with my first when I came back from vacation at 31 weeks because I was feeling more pelvic pressure. I was 1 cm and soft. I was told to keep an eye on increased BH. I was 3 cm/80% effaced and -2 at 35 weeks and had a bout of regular contractions around that time, but they eventually stopped. I was 5 cm at 37 weeks and was induced six days later. I followed that same pattern with subsequent pregnancies.

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Feeling pretty good. The usual bouts of heartburn/reflux and pelvic aches.

    2) Any appointments this week?
I see the MFM specialist for an ultrasound on Friday.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
Nothing planned. Probably see a movie and binge watch one of our shows. Season four of Black Mirror starts later this month, so that will likely be our go-to series to binge.

  • @soulcupcake, thanks for the response! I was at 1cm/80%/-2 on Saturday (at 31&1).  No changes from Saturday to Sunday even though I've continued to contract.  Making it to 37 would be wonderful!
  • @psm2462 fingers crossed. I don't know what pre-term labor feels like or what those numbers mean that you and @soulcupcake were discussing. So i can't offer any advice.
BUT- I can wish you positive vibes that baby stays put.  Keep us posted.
  • 32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Emotionally, so drained and sad. Physically, I feel decent. I find my belly bumping into things a bit more often now.

    2) Any appointments this week?
Wednesday is just a regular OB appointment.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: I think we found a newborn photographer this week! We do a face to face meeting on January 3rd. I’m really excited because we’re actually getting an awesome deal...

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
Every year, BIL has a party that we go to. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it to midnight. His friends are kind of annoying, and I’m sure I’ll be sooo tired and just fall asleep on a couch.

    @Chawk17
Crap girl, broken toe?! I’m sooo sorry. And there’s not a lot they can do. I hope you feel better.

@psm2462  Crossing fingers LO stays put for a while!

    @eggplantface
I’m glad your MIL is willing to do what she can to keep LO safe for you. :)
  • G32 Weeks! Already??? These weeks aren't flying by!
    1) How are you feeling?
Overall prettt good! Super sore pelvis and exhausted all the time! but it could be much worse!

    2) Any appointments this week?
    Nothing Untul January 9th

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
4 days till a 2 week christmas holiday!

Question: When do you ladies plan to pack your hospital bag? (if you haven't already)       And when did you instal the car seat or base for the new baby?

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
My uncles all come over to my parents to play cards. So we will put LO down there and stay and play cards with them!

    @Chawk17
Hopefully your toe heals quickly! And thats very exciting to be working away on your nursery!

@psm2462 Crossing my fingers that your LO stays put for a few more weeks at least!

I went into ptl with both my boys at 30 weeks and 32 weeks. Strict bedrest with both until 36 weeks.  Delivered ds1 at 15 days early and ds2 9 days early. Dilated to a 4 for weeks with ds1 and 3.5 with ds2.

I had to take procardia with ds1 to stop contractions.

    2) Any appointments this week? I had one tonight but I had to cancel it and more it to after Christmas.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions? DD1 has been sick for a few days and I've had to stay home with her. Seems like DH is catching whatever she has... not fun!

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day? We always go to my inlaws for dinner and to eat grapes at midnight. New Years Day we like to stay home and chill, especially after being out so late the night before.

I've never heard of eating grapes at midnight on NYE.  What's the story behind this tradition?
  • @babybro218 - in my culture, we eat 12 grapes for good luck in the coming year. One grape for each month!

I like that- that's a tradition I  could adopt..  If you don't mind my asking- what culture does that come from?

  • I'm Filipino, but I think it comes from Spain. We're very superstitious, so we have a long list of what to do (and not to do) on NYE/NYD.

I'm for any tradition with sauerkraut as well....maybe throw in a brat!
  • @psm2462 I'm so sorry to hear about your activity restriction!! I hope you get some good rest, and that baby stays put for a few more weeks!

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Hormonal and weepy, crampy, but otherwise good! I think I must have had a belly growth spurt in the last week, because suddenly I'm bumping in to *everything*. I keep telling my husband I feel like a manatee. I imagine if a manatee had legs, it would walk a bit like I do lately.

    2) Any appointments this week?
One this morning. Had regular (but not super strong) contractions last night for a couple of hours... they stopped before I went to bed, and I had an appt scheduled for this morning anyway, so it didn't seem overly urgent at the time. I think their regularity + the fact that they clustered (like they did in labor with DD) worried my Dr, so I'm waiting for them to call me back with an appt for an ultrasound.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: I turned my final grades in on Monday, so I'm doooonnnnneeee!!!!!!! until January, at least. WOO HOO. AND... I had a prenatal massage on Monday, which was icing on the cake! It felt so good!! I received a gift certificate as an early Xmas present from my brother (at my mom's strong suggestion, lol). And I'm done with traveling until after this baby arrives (drove 6 hrs to visit my family last Friday, 6 hrs home last night). I would so much rather host than travel during the holidays!!

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
We might watch a movie or something (at home) on NYE, and enjoy a mocktail or two. DH makes hoppin' john, greens, and ham on New Year's Day every year (or dishes with those same ingredients in them).

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
I was feeling fine, until I slipped and fell on some ice, and was sent to L&D for monitoring Monday night.  Turns out, I was having lots of contractions that I had not previously (before falling) identified as such- no pain or discomfort, just tightening, and this concerned the dr. on call.  They were able to do IV fluids and get the contractions to settle, but then right before we left, they kicked back in. The dr. did a cervix check, and I was at 2cm, which then spurred the conversation of, if this baby is coming tonight, I'd need to be transferred to a more specialized hospital.  Thankfully, medication was able to stop/slow contractions and get us out of the woods.  We finally got discharged this morning, and I'm on modified bedrest for 2 weeks at least.  I'm thankful LO decided to settle her shenanigans and stay put for now!

    2) Any appointments this week? I was supposed to have a regular appt. today, but that got pushed to next week since I was already looked at today. For now, the plan will be to be seen weekly.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions? I will say, I had to send DH home for an overnight bag for two nights (and he had to let the dog out), so I feel like we've done a semi- dry run (minus a baby of course).  I did add to my list tissues (minor thing, but theirs were awful), and a nice cozy blanket (obviously not for laboring, but for sleeping).  Things that I was glad were already on my list which I was thankful for: phone charger, easy shoes for walking around/showering, face wash wipes, my favorite water/ice cup, and of course, comfy clothes.

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
We usually do a very low-key evening with my sister and her bf, and DH and the dogs. I'm not a person who likes a party, or going out, really, and this year, I'll be on bedrest, so that's not an option anyway.  I'll be fine with a cozy dinner and game/movie night at home in pj's. :)
  • @lucylou214 Yikes, that's scary! I'm glad they got things under control and you got to go home. Sucks to be on bedrest though. Stay in, baby!

  • @lucylou214 very scary! ( and gross they had you do an iv) fingers crossed LO stays put.
  • Thanks, @eggplantface and @chawk17.  It was definitely a scary moment, and unexpected.  The doctors feel like I probably have been unknowingly walking around at 2cm, and that it has nothing to do with the fall.  Thankfully, 2 days later, there as no increase in dilation, so she seems to be staying put for now!

I've never heard of eating grapes at midnight on NYE.  What's the story behind this tradition?
I live in Spain and here everyone eats 12 grapes during the first 12 seconds of the new year. They represent the months of the year to come and if you miss one then you'll have bad luck for a month. It's fun! I've SKYPEd with my family back home in the states in previous years and they've eaten the grapes with us even though there's a 7hr time difference.
nye is very family oriented here and I like that there's no pressure to have "the best night ever". We used to stay at dinner until like 3am and then go out to a club for a few hours but we'll see if I can even make it to the grapes this year!
  • I'm Filipino, but I think it comes from Spain. We're very superstitious, so we have a long list of what to do (and not to do) on NYE/NYD.
@jennifer_m21 do you also have to wear red undergarments???

  • @rmarie13 the “no pressure to have the best night ever” sounds AMAZING. As do grapes :)

@lucylou214 I’m glad everything seems to be under control now! I’m glad you’re home and resting.
  • Thanks, @babybro218! We are thankful that everything turned out okay, and are just hoping she decided to settle in for a good while longer!
  • @psm2462, sounds like we may be in the same boat.  We just came home from the hospital today, and I am on a similar restriction for now- I don't have to stay in bed, but no shopping, lifting, housework, and lots and lots of resting.

The doctor who discharged me this morning said that yes, while some people with PTL do deliver early, not all do.  She has known many ladies to go full-term, even will early dilation, etc. (she even has known a couple to go past their EDD).  Sending positive vibes: please stay in there, baby!
  • @lucylou214 sorry to hear you're dealing with the same thing! How are you feeling?  One of the most frustrating things about PTL is that they just don't know what's going to happen, or how long you could go! I actually delivered my first preterm, so they think it's unlikely I will go to term and less likely I will go past my due date, but have said it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.  Just hoping things calm down if I do wind up carrying him for another 5-6 weeks, since I'm on day 5 of contractions now...
  • @psm2462 , I'm feeling okay, just really happy to be home and looking forward to a good night of sleep.  We didn't sleep at all on Monday night, and last night was just a few sporadic hours, with being woken up once for a steroid injection and a couple of other times for, fetal monitoring, and vitals, etc. For me, it was/is really hard to tell when I'm having contractions, because even when they were 4 minutes apart and very regular, it felt like the baby moving (no pain), and is just hard to tell.  I'm a FTM, so this is all new to me. I am really hoping that she stays in longer! I hope your LO does the same.  My fingers are crossed for you!
  • @lucylou214 likewise -- thinking healthy thoughts for you and babe! I hear you on the lack of rest.  The MFM I saw today suggested Benadryl to help me get a good night's sleep, so I'll be giving that a try :) Keep me posted on how everything goes!

Dang sounds like everyone is having a rough week! Sending out good vibes and thinking about you all and you LOs!

    32 Weeks!
    1) How are you feeling?
Tired, gassy, big. Doing yoga class has become too challenging so I'm struggling to stay active.

    2) Any appointments this week?
Friday, DH is able to come and meet the dr again so thats good.

    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I don't know if it's hormones or less work stress but I have noticed I'm much less anxious about everything. I've taken a couple childbirth classes and have a couple baby showers planned so I'm feeling more prepared going into the new year.

    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
No plans, knowing DH he will want to go the movies. Knowing me I will want to go out for breakfast.
  • Sad to hear about all the PTL worries but glad all babies seem to be starting put for now.
    1) How are you feeling?
I'm feeling alright. My pelvis is sure when I change positions but I have found turning to my side and then getting out of bed has helped as opposed to just getting straight up.
    2) Any appointments this week?
Just had one yesterday. Baby was active so things were uneventful.
    3) Rants/Raves/Questions?
DH has had the week off so it's been great to have the help around here especially after the vasectomy/hematoma nightmare I had been dealing with with him for the last three weeks. On the plus side, he is finally coming around and although the hematoma is still there and huge it doesn't hurt him as much anymore so that's really good.
    4) GTKY: Are you doing anything for New Year's Eve/Day?
DH and I will likely do a count down with the kiddos at 6pm. Maybe stay up until midnight with some junk food if I can make it.

Earlier in the day we will have DS1s birthday party with family (11am). It gives the family a chance to get together before anyone would have any actual fun plans that evening.
