Measured 9w0d today. Super happy to see baby and heartbeat. Not sure if I am sticking with the Dr though. Anyone else decide to switch after their initial appt? I'm supposed to go back in a week for bloodwork.
@mrsecho16 I switched docs after my 1st appt for a couple reasons but especially because doc made a few demeaning comments about my previous losses and miscarriages in general. Wow! Bye-bye. I'm high-risk (for now) so I wasn't pleased to start over with a different doctor but didn't think twice about it. Go with your gut!
@mrsecho16 I may switch doctors as well. I went to see the midwife yesterday that I saw for my first and I experienced some of the miscommunication and weirdness that made me uncomfortable last time. So, shopping for a new doc.
@mrsecho16 I switched as well and it was the best decision I made, I adore my new OB.
Brief back story: I'd been needing a new ob/gun since my old one retired suddenly. So when I found myself pregnant I called the group affiliated with my GP's clinic and hospital. First one they saddled me with declared me high risk, which I am, and then seemingly didn't want to ever meet with me. She kept canceling my appointments, moving them back weeks at a time on more than one occasion, before I'd even stepped foot in the door. Even my GP was baffled.
And as a first time pregnant lady, freaked out being high risk and not knowing what that entails, and a first time patient at the practice, that shows incredible disregard imho. So I called the group, explained the situation to the head nurse and she was shocked, and agreed to switch me to a different doctor of her choice in the practice since I'd technically never been there yet. Got the switch and had my first appointment and all the fun the very next day. And I ended up really clicking with the new OB.
So let your gut be your guide, if you don't feel sympatico with your doctor/midwife, switch til you find one you like. Don't feel guilty about it. Best of luck!
Yes, switch OBs/Midwives/Drs early until you find someone you click with. This person is going to be with you during one of the biggest moments of your life. You don't want it to be the wrong person. Besides, you will be paying more for this "service" than you do for many other services, get what you are paying for. It's so funny how we forget that the medical industry is still a service industry. You wouldn't stay with a bad hairdresser, why would you stay with a Dr you didn't like?
We had our first ultrasound for Baby#3 yesterday! Baby is measuring ahead a few days... LMP says 7wks6days and baby is measuring 8wks3days. Keeping the same due date of 8/22! Heartbeat was perfect at 165. Baby looks like he/she is wearing sunglasses and is rocking a Mohawk!! Can’t stop laughing
You guys! There's a real baby inside me! Measuring 9+0 today but 9+4 based on lmp so keeping my due date of 8/11. He/she was moving around so much during the ultrasound and I got to hear the heartbeat! So wonderful. I'm floating on air tonight.
@nicnique Lurking from September. Does SCH mean Subchor. hematoma/hemorrhage?
Baby #2 I had a very large 8cm SCH. It scared the crap out of me because it made me bleed SO much. I thought I was having a miscarriage, so went to the ER and the baby was fine. I was on a modified rest, only able to lift 3-5 pounds and gave birth at 33 weeks. Still don't know if the SCH caused my preterm labour as my daughter and I just didn't seem to "mesh" well the entire pregnancy.
SCH is scary... but needless to say I have the most feisty 3 year old girl, who runs the whole family now! Please just keep resting, and let others around you take care of you if you can.
Let me know if you need any other support or have questions/ideas for what to do on rest if you are put on it.
I had my first US on Tuesday and according to my period, I should be 7w4d, but US tech said she thinks I am measuring closer to 5w-6w?! The heartbeat reading was great, so I’m just waiting to hear back a confirmation due date from my doctor!
@llgmama don't worry too much. The scans can be off a bit AND if there was a heartbeat, typically that means "at least" 6w. I had a scan at 4w5d to rule out ectopic and the gestational sac was so small, they wouldn't even say it was a gestational sac. It could have just been fluid in my uterus. I had my dating scan on Tuesday, and I measured 9 weeks. That was just over 3 weeks from my last scan. Also, I was a week behind with my son based on LMP the entire time. They think I ovulated on CD 21 with him.
@musicalmommy3 thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s nice to hear positive outcomes! I have a sub chron. hematoma. She didn’t tell me how big exactly. I haven’t had any bleeding and she didn’t put me on any rest restrictions. I have been trying not to carry my 21month old as much and trying to take it easy as much as I can with two littles to chase after.
@Firemanswife11, that does make me feel so much better! It took a bit longer for this baby, so I’ve tracking ovulation and conception like crazy. So 5weeks didn’t add up!
So thrilled to be able to see our little peanut today! I miscarried my first baby at 6 weeks and I found out I was pregnant again exactly one month later! Baby is measuring at 7weeks5days and everything looks good!
I got my second ultrasound today. Measuring 7 weeks 3 days which is right on schedule and the heart beat was 146. The tech who printed the pictures said “you are having a boy”. I asked what makes her say that she said “based off of the heart beat”. Anybody heard this before? Thoughts?
We will have to see! I am curious too, my 7w 5d U/S HR was 134 (barely up from 132 at 6 week 4 days), so by this theory I'm having a boy!
I searched my hospital's literary online database for articles regrading early heart rate and gender. It's for sure not backed up by science, like at all haha but still a little fun to imagine
I had my first US on Wednesday morning! Measuring 11 weeks on the dot. Due date is August 1st. I’m very relieved to finally have this done so I can stop worrying if something is wrong since this is my first and I don’t have any strong symptoms other than being tired (which isn’t that out of the norm with me) and a wee bit of nausea, usually in the evening before bed. Doctor said all is well! Lots of fluid, placenta is placed correctly, and heartbeat is strong!
I had my first ultrasound this morning! The baby was measuring exactly on time at 9+3! The HR was 176! When I was pregnant for my daughter, hers was never above 140 so it will be interesting to see if this little one is a girl or boy! So in love already!
I saw and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time yesterday and it was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. My doctor said everything looked excellent and right on track! This is exactly 9 weeks and my due date is 8/17/18
Got my first ultrasound January 2nd! My first born is measuring at 8.5 weeks- I am 10 weeks 2 days now. Can’t wait to find out if it’s a boy or a girl!!!
Another PSA - please please please crop your personal info out of your U/S pics. This is a public forum. Anyone with access to the internet can see your info.

This is our baby from our first OB appt on 1/2 measured 5 days behind so moved my due date. Anyone else see a baby hand wave?! Heart rate was 173! So anxious to hear that again♡
First ultrasound was on Friday! I was exactly 9 weeks based on ovulation, baby measured 9 weeks and 1 day. We saw the little squirmy arms and legs, and the tiny flickering heartbeat. We got a video of it on a DVD, too! It feels a lot more real, now, so I'm starting to get really excited.
Finally my turn! 9w today and measured 2 days off. Based on shorter cycles, ob changed my date by 1 day— 8/20 for baby and I! Heartbeat was 152 Im relieved to see the heartbeat and only 1 i noticed the ut spending more time in my overies- the cyst is measuring a bit larger than “normal” but she wasn’t too concerned
Measuring right on track 8w2d and the heartbeat was strong at 171. Can’t wait to show my daughter who is fascinated that there is a baby growing in my belly lol
Had my first scan today and finally have a due date of 8/29. Just one good looking kid in there, and I got the HB but I don't remember it #thirdkidproblems
Aww I'm so happy for everyone... but slightly jealous! I don't have my first ultrasound until Monday the 22nd!! I'll be almost 10.5 weeks by then. So anxious and excited. The wait is killing me!
Had our first U/S yesterday. Everything is measuring perfectly on time for the due date I calculated. Little heartbeat was perfect. And the little gummy bear was jumping around in there, so cute! Much more movement than DH and I remember with our first.
I'm late to post this! From our dating U/S at 7 weeks 6 days. Measuring right on track for estimated ovulation. Due date Aug 11. Currently 10w4d. I think baby looks like a frog. Edited to add, HR:138. and they said my small SCH from week 6 had resolved!
Got to see my little bug again today when I went in for my cell free DNA. Measuring two days big now (10w5d instead of 10w3d) and heartbeat up to 166. Baby was moving around a ton so I got to see legs and fingers and kind of a face!
