@angiek1 we have no family that lives near us. We all bought Ipads and we facetime weekly. The grandparents enjoy watching DD while she plays. Shes starting to communicate more when we facetime but before we did it to just make sure she got familiar with faces and voices. I would definitely suggest facetiming or skype!
@angiek1 we print up lots of pictures to show my son of our family that lives far away. He loves looking at them. I try to use pics of visits with them. We have no family around but it's been like that forever so we are used to it at this point. It was so hard at first as I grew up in a small town with a tight community.
Anyone else’s babe sitting VERY low? I swear I feel kicking in my vagina. I saw a head or a butt go by just above my hip bone the other night! I’m 23 weeks and it just seems so early to be able to see the body parts. Last pregnancy (about 2 yrs ago) wasn’t painful w the baby moving until the end. Or maybe I’m growing a monster child that will be 10 pounds? First was a girl this is a boy.
Rhinitis is the WORST! I take Claritin everyday and did for my last pregnancy. No problems and it did help a little.
@angiek1, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I will say, as a child that didn't live near grandparents, it WILL be okay. The kids WILL know your parents, love them, and its a lot better now to stay in touch than it has ever been. My parents live 5 hours away, and have since I started having kids, but my kids know and love the crap out of them. Even my almost 18 month old! Their memories, even at a young age, are really quite amazing. FaceTime/Google Hangouts are a life-saver. We also use our Google ChromeCast as a huge digital picture frame for our living room TV. Our TV is always on, but its usually just a slideshow of family pictures so our kids are constantly seeing extended families' faces. It really does help with the recognition--my 18 month old is proof positive of this. So many hugs to you as you adjust to this new phase

@peppersmith22 and @sparklingdiamond we have six teachers to buy for (3 per kid) and I'm thinking a Starbucks gift card for everyone. I know its not everyone's favorite, but there's one next door to our daycare and starbucks has something for everyone right?!

@millieb14 your baby probably is stomping on your cervix, which happens later on in pregnancy no matter how high the baby sits. I used to chase DD1 with something cold to make her shift whenever she kicked me in the cervix.
Right about now your uterus is only an inch or so above your belly button, so maybe there is a chance later on your kiddo will migrate up a bit. The good(ish) news is that most of them eventually turn and kick you in the diaphragm instead.
@ladythrice I went out and bought a sugar cookie mix that came with a bunch of Christmas cookie cutters. I’ll be doing that with DS today instead of his usual nap time. #prayforme

A Daniel Tiger show is touring and will be near us in March, and I just found out kinds 1 and up are allowed to go, so I bought tickets. DS will be 2.5 by then, hopefully this doesn't end up being a bust! He loves Daniel Tiger, it'll be interesting to see how he likes the live show. Has anyone taken their kids to see Daniel Tiger live?
@millieb14 YES. This kid is constantly kicking me directly in the cervix and it is not an awesome feeling. I’m thankful I’m not yet being kicked in the ribs but I’m sure that day is coming. According to my mom last night my bump is getting higher so maybe that’s happening sooner than later.
Re: the teacher gifts, I’m a FTM so no direct experience but according to teacher friends I hear gift cards are all the rage.
AFM, just put a deposit down today at a daycare we really liked to hold our spot on the wait list. That is some major scary/exciting shit right there. Also my mom and I took a beginners quilting class last night. We’re gonna be making a quilt for the nursery together, god help us. She’s been sewing since she was a kid but I legit just used a sewing machine for the first time like a week ago so this thing might look seriously jacked up. Just starting this kid off right with low expectations
@millieb14 yes! This is baby 3 for me and he is way low. I haven't felt movement above my belly button yet. He was also transverse at my a/s. He actually kicks more if i am hunched over bc he's squished (or so i think). I either have to sit straight up or kinda lay back a little. He's kicked me so low that I get nervous (i had a cervical check 3 weeks ago which made me feel better). Anyway you aren't alone. And yes i fully expect and HOPE this little bugger turns later so he's kicking me in my diaphragm like ngolimento said.
@millieb14 Me too! I keep also getting kicked in the butt or having my bladder danced on. This is only baby #2 and I do not remember this feeling with baby #1!
@millieb14 yes! I’m 24 weeks with an anterior placenta. This week I’ve started to feel some higher actual kicks but until now it’s just felt like someone is dancing on my bladder all the time!

My DS is *such* a third child! On the three days a week his sisters are at school and he’s home alone with me, he has no idea what to do with himself - just follows me around crying and asking me to pick him up. I try to play with him but he apparently sees me as a completely inadequate playmate; only his sisters will do.
We aren’t finding out the sex of baby #4 until Christmas Day as per my husband, but to everyone who is SO concerned that DS get a brother to play with, I’m just like... let me save you some worry. He absolutely loves playing with his older sisters and I have no doubt he would love playing with a younger one too.

@millieb14 Yes! It's weird how low she is compared to DS. I haven't seen body parts, but I swear I felt her touch my pelvis on the left side. I've never had a kick to the cervix or ribs or anywhere that hurt with DS, so I'm hoping it's the same for this one! Though it moreso feels like she's hanging out on my bladder. I've never snissed before, 'til this babygirl, lol. She's been hanging out head down with her feet up by her head, so it's like I'm getting both hands and feet all up in my pelvis.
@sparklingdiamond H is making spaghetti right now...yummm! I'm starving!
I was searching for Christmas presents for my sisters’ twins, so in case you can’t see it/it isn’t obvious my search terms were “toys 6 month old” and this came up on Amazon:

All of this is same here. My little one was also transverse at my A/S and I notice the same thing when I hunch over. During my A/S appointment the tech told me she is sitting right on my cervix. I was concerned because I had been having pressure but the tech said she is just really low. I have never felt movement anywhere near my belly button.
@lindsye - I'm hoping that my mom stays here until after the LO's birth. Their house won't go on the market until Jan and so that'll buy time. She currently watches my sister's kids 3 days a week, so unless she finds new childcare, my mom has said she would stay until in of term which has her here until mid-may.
@Dumbgurl04 DH and I have been following all night. Obviously this is the best news of its kind we’ve seen in a while, but the fact that the election was this close against a child molester (among many other things) is pretty disgraceful. Definitely making me hopeful for the future though... I’ll take it.
@frenchiekinplusone I'm with you fully. Yes it's great that Jones won, but the closeness of that race shows a huge problem (actually continues to show the problem) in our culture/partisan politics. Ugh!
@Dumbgurl04 I heard the same. I figure that’s the reason for the relatively huge number of write-ins... conservatives who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Moore but also wouldn’t compromise their pro-life position to vote Jones... which I totally respect.
I had my monthly OB appointment on Monday and I am SO frustrated.
Since I’ve had two UTIs in the last three weeks, they decided to test my urine just in case.
Of COURSE it came back positive (I just finished my antibiotics three days ago).
So now there putting me on a preventative antibiotic for the remainder of the pregnancy. It’s not the end of the world, and I get it. It’s just really annoying.
Ugh @Mikkimikey that sucks. I got some tips from the ladies here, I also had two in early pregnancy, and they have seemed to help me! Drinking cranberry juice/taking a cranberry supplement, going panty-free at night, drinking a ton of water, peeing often, changing your underwear during the day or wearing panty liners and changing them frequently. Annoying stuff but these helped finally kick my UTI issues to the curb.

I just need to give a shout out to all of the black people that saved Alabama's ass yesterday. Looking at the exit poll data, 67% of white WOMEN voted for Moore. All my noes. Thank God the ACLU stepped in to mitigate all the racist poll-blocking shit local govts were coming up with.
You guys...I guess this is more of a FFC. But why was the AL race such a big deal? Like I legit don't know what one of the candidates did? I guess I don't follow the news enough.
