I did my 2-hour glucose tolerance test today, and it was less than fun. I just received a notification that my chart was updated with my results and I’m a little confused. The numbers seem to be in normal ranges, but the 2-hour number was higher than the 1-hour draw. I have my OB appointment on Monday but I wanted to see if any of you ladies had received similar results... I thought it was supposed to peak at 1-hour?
@shireeallason it just depends on how your body processes sugar. With my DD when I did the 3 hour by fasting and first hour were good then I peaked on my 2nd and dropped really low in the 3rd. This go around when I first did my 3 hour at around 12 weeks, fasting was great but I peaked in the first hour and dropped at a normal rate for my 2nd and 3rd hours.
So I have to take my second diabetes test next month at 27 weeks. I passed my first one last month easily.
I asked about alternatives and my dr said I could eat one and a half Milky Way bars! Has anyone else heard of this?! As much as I hate the drink I want to make sure I have an accurate result.
Just had mine this morning, should have results by tomorrow. I was expecting the drink to be so bad I’d be choking it down, but TBH it really wasn’t for me! Kinda like super-concentrated Hi-C or something maybe. I mean, not something I’d just choose to drink lol but the way a couple Mom friends talked about it I thought it was gonna be the worst 5 mins ever. Fx for good results tomorrow and hoping the same for everyone else!!
Ok my Dr's office just called with my results......and I passed
I'm so shocked I figured with my history, already failing one at 12 weeks, and with how big DS is measuring I was probably going to have GD. I'm probably still going to stick to the diet for the most part but it will be nice to indulge in some sweets without feeling guilty. Thanks for all the good thoughts.
I did the glucose challenge this morning and it was nowhere near as bad as last time. I don't have results yet, but I didn't pass out! Just got a tiny bit light-headed and nauseous but it was totally manageable this time.
Ugh, I do the 3 hour test tomorrow morning starting at 7:45 so tonight I have to stop eating at 7:45 am. Which any other day would be fine but since I can't all I'll want to do is snack.
I failed the one-hour test so I have to go back this week for the three-hour. My one-hour number was 153 which is definitely higher than just borderline. I'm so upset about this.
@Dumbgurl04 congrats on passing! I have to go to the diabetes clinic next week and have a dietitian tell me how to eat healthy...which I'm already educated on. I have PCOS which puts me at high risk anyway as PCOS = insulin resistance....FUN.
I thought the orange drink was nasty. So many people told me it tastes like the old "orange drink" from McDonalds...which I guess it does. But still nasty.

@vintageandrea90 I always avoided the orange one because a lot of people I know said that the fruit punch is better. Either way I hate the drink and that you have to drink it in under 5 minutes.
Did anyone's doctor give advice to eat a carb heavy dinner before the glucose test the next morning? That's what mine says and I can't help thinking this is a trap. Pregnancy is making me very suspicious...
@stalkinghorse, I've received the opposite advice lol. My OBs always say to avoid sugar the day before (no candies, cakes, cookies, soda, juice, etc) and to eat a normal well balanced diet, ie. don't overload on carbs.

@Dumbgurl04 Thanks that does ease my worries a little. I got pretty down about it yesterday but you're right, it doesn't necessarily mean I'll fail the three-hour.
Did the one hour test today. I legit got the shakes after drinking the drink. I think the time is what made me feel so sick... hoping I pass bc I have plans for a birthday brunch on Sunday complete with sticky buns!
Just thinking about you ladies that are taking it! With a past diagnosis of GD by my former OB practice, I opted to test my blood sugars and so far so good. I took the GTT four times during my pregnancy with DD1 and I’m just glad to have an alternative!
I passed! Feeling relieved. Although my numbers indicate anemia which is not surprising bc I’ve had that on and off for years. Sending all you waiting ladies some good vibes!!!
I had to reschedule my one hour for two weeks out due to the steroids I was given when I was in the hospital. Apparently it can mess with your sugar so here's to hoping I pass in two weeks and don't need to do the 3 hour! Sending good vibes to the rest of you!
I had my blood sugars under control until I got pneumonia last Thursday and literally didnt eat anything all weekend. Now when I do eat, my blood sugars go crazy and i feel like crap. Ughhh
