so this is super random...but does anyone have any recommendations for thigh high/over the knee socks? Like thick, winter, keep you warm socks. Long enough for a little taller girl (5'9") that stay up? I'm really not a fan of pants right now, especially for sleeping, so I've been wearing night gowns but my legs get cold. I've looked on Amazon and they all seem thin. Found some at Target but there aren't many reviews.

@krashke I love SmartWool for thick warm socks. I google searched and they do offer over the knee socks. I've only worn regular SmartWools so I can't vouch for the height. They're on Amazon though so you can browse reviews.
Can I share this gem of a conversation I had with my mom last night? My mom is 69, FWIW:
mom: I talked to Bill at work today, and Bill said his wife didn't have any morning sickness either me: Mom, I told you something like 30% of women don't have morning sickness. I know it's fine, I was just worried before my NT scan. It's all good now. mom: I didn't have any morning sickness. Your aunt didn't have any morning sickness. me: Mom, I thought you said you did, just oddly in second tri? mom: Oh, well I had evening sickness starting at around 8 weeks, but I didn't have any morning sickness. me: That's not second tri, but wait, are you the last remaining person on this earth who thinks morning sickness is actually limited to the morning? mom: Morning sickness only happens in the morning. me: Morning sickness is just a misnomer for NAUSEA! YOU HAD NAUSEA! mom: Yes, I had nausea. But never in the morning. Only from 4pm to midnight every night. me: Mom, when I said I didn't have any morning sickness, I meant I didn't have any nausea at all. mom: Oh, well that's very weird then. I think you should talk to your doctor.
Just kill me. Just end it before my brain explodes.
I also vote for black outfit BTW or at least something very neutral. For couple pictures you don't want to be matchy matchy with your SO and you don't want to clash, plus black is the NYC uniform so I'm sure if you live there you have a bunch of options. Also, you could have the pictures done in black and white with only the smoke showing up in color.
So if you want a good long read there is a Bump Cream thread in May 2018 that isn't much related to bump cream at all.
What I find most entertaining is we are brought up twice as not being a very nice board. Like "if you think this is bad just check out June" So I get that we had a rough start and our Intro thread was shut down but that was completely perpetuated by drama lamas one who wasn't even KU just came out to call someone out who never even participated.
The thread then takes a turn for what I think we should start; an AMA/Tell All from STM's to FTM's. There is a Postpartum AMA pinned in TTGP but it is long and old so while beneficial it might be good to start a new one. And I'm talking all the dirty details and how you managed them.

Okay wait can someone explain the counter pressure while pooping thing to me? Is this like........pressing your fingers on your butthole while trying to poop?
@doxiemoxie212 ~ I would highly recommend just taking stool softeners starting immediately after birth, then you won’t need to worry about any of that business. I was TERRIFIED of that first poo post birth, because of all the horror stories. But it was honestly NBD because my midwife handed me a stool softener a couple hours after birth and I just continued with those for a few weeks.
Oh man, I keep forgetting that I'm due the second week of June!!! My due date got changed from 6/17 and 6/11, and I have still not mentally made the switch. @RatParade@ffw0617 Let's make a pact to have a real thread next week.

Just emailed three Bradley Method instructors to inquire about classes. I didn't think I needed to be this prepared but I would have to start class in Feb/Mar and apparently some of them are already filling up!

(have you done research on bradley vs hypno? I started a while ago, but I didn't ever make a decision. I think I like the idea of doing an in-person Bradley class more so for DH's benefit -- well, and I'll benefit from his benefitting while in labor lol -- and then maybe do some virtual hypno classes on my own? I have no idea what I'm doing, sigh.)
@doxiemoxie212 I just did a bit of research on both to make my decision. I think there are some principals of hypno in Bradley with regards to visualization and relaxation. I definitely think there are benefits to the teachings of hypno but I'm only going to spend $400 on one class and for us I think Bradley will be better because its a more well rounded class. I also think it will help MH get more involved. I might also look into some hypno on my own and maybe just some audio classes.

My bff did hypno birthing and recommends it. She had a successful natural birth too. I have never looked into birthing classes but she said the hypno stuff was great.
@doxiemoxie212 I don't know about anyone else, but I frankly had no idea when they started! In normal life it's Thursday and close to the end of the week so I just automatically went to "next week."

@MoonOverGoldsboro hahaha fair. I think we had them start Thursdays since so many other threads start on Sundays/Mondays. So it's sort of like a mid-week check in with a different, smaller group. (Also, the way the month of June goes, on Thursdays, everyone in each "week" is within the same number of weeks pregnant.)
Getting my hair done. Good thing I told her I was pregnant. She said it's a good thing we're skipping low lights this time since something about pregnancy hormones can cause dark colors to pull really dark. Yeah, we have family pictures on Saturday so, glad I made that choice.
@doxiemoxie or other vegetarians - I'm supposed to bring a dairy-free vegetarian soup to a church event. My MIL makes a great tomato based vegetable soup but it tastes good because she adds BEEF. Do I just amp up the garlic and onions? How do I add flavor? Other suggestions?
@llamamama14 well, I have never really eaten meat, so I don't really know about it tasting better with beef (I'd argue that it's almost always the onion and garlic that make soups taste good). I would recommend a mushroom stock potentially, or if you want to get super baller, try this homemade veg stock as a base for the soup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKgYRtHwJ28
I also just really love roasted tomato soups in general. Here are some veg ones:
Vent: I have already gained quite a bit (and I started really heavy). My MS has been miserable and as a result I have sucked at eating anything other than carbs/crap. I have also sucked at exercising. Well I told myself today I was going to start moving more, even if I just started with 15 minutes on the treadmill. I finally just laces up my sneakers and got on the treadclimber because that’s in the living room so I can watch DD while I use it. Welp, it’s not working right!! I am just trying to use it flat as a treadmill but it is skipping horribly. I bought it used and it was never in amazing shape but WHY does it have to break today when I finally got myself motivated?! I just feel so overwhelmed/defeated with my weight right now.
@Miz_Liz I'm sorry about your stupid treadmill. Have you ever tried the 7-Minute Workout? It's basically a serious of bodyweight-only exercises that are supposed to give you a "scientifically proven" total body workout (there was a ton of hype about this a few years ago, but whatever). When I was pressed for time, I used to do just one or two rounds of this, and I always felt a lot better. And it's easy to just play this video in your living room while you watch your kids. You need a little bit of room to move, but not too much.
@MoonOverGoldsboro I have not tried that! What a great idea. I can totally do 7 minutes (to start) and my TV has the YouTube app. Thanks for the suggestion!
@Miz_Liz another thing that I’ve found motivates me is having a physical chart up somewhere. So like, I’ll print out those plank challenge or squat challenge charts so I can physically cross out when I’ve done each day. Having it pinned up also reminds me to do it.
