I haven't been on here in probably over a week. Between work, Thanksgiving travel, and getting ready to close on a house I've been running from point A to point B with no time in between. This Thursday is my NT scan. Friday we close on our house. We'll be moving in a week before Christmas. Cue the stress!
And I, like others, went for my dental cleaning last week. I went ahead and let them schedule for the last week in May, but I'm sure that will get rescheduled later. So far my gums are doing better this pregnancy than they usually do (they get sensitive and bleed a lot when I'm pregnant).
Also, we told the kids last weekend. My 4.5 year old got all excited and said "Now we'll be a five family!!" (family of five). Too cute.
First Son - born 2013
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
@BurlapandLace First, I love your announcement - super cute. Second, I feel the same way about this pregnancy compared to the first, so I totally get what you are saying. Last time, it was ALWAYS on my mind and had a hard time thinking/talking about anything else. I feel bad that I don't seem as outwardly excited about this pregnancy. I think part of it for me is that pregnancy was such an unknown the first time that I kind of obsessed about every little thing and this time I'm more relaxed (maybe?). Also, just being preoccupied with DS, I naturally think about it less.
Also, it sounds like we have all gone to the dentist in the last couple weeks @ffw0617 I also need to have my wisdom teeth pulled! I was only born with the top 2 and one is finally coming in (at age 31...wtf) so the dentist said it's good to pull them both since I don't have room for them to come in all the way. However, it's not causing me any pain so he recommended waiting until after baby is born. While I'm happy about that, when am I going to fit that in with a baby and a toddler? Surely not with a new born...sooo who knows?
@krashke going to at least hold out until Friday. If we can't get a solid team on board to help us then we might just cave and find out by just opening the results. I figure I'll probably want to do some maternity photos (not super corny ones, but my mom literally doesn't have a single picture of herself while pregnant with me, and I am extreeeemely difficult to get a good photo of, so I need some pro help/patience) in the future so if we have to just save the smoke bombs for some fun then, so be it.
Baby is fine! Low risk! Envelope with gender is waiting for me at doctor's office front desk!
Weird convo with the nurse, tho --
Nurse: so your results came back low risk across the board, so great news there, and then I have the gender, if you want to know... Me: I do! But not right now! What are my options? Nurse: Well you could call back when you DO want to know...? Me: Oh um, I live two blocks away, could you just put it in an envelope with the front desk, and I'll come by and get it? Nurse: I have no idea how I would do that... Me: Uh, what? I mean... which part? Nurse: Can I put you on hold? Me: uh ok Nurse: Okay, I'm back. So, you just want me to put the gender inside an envelope, put your name on the outside, and leave it with the front desk...? Me: ...yes? Nurse: Well okkkaaaayyyyy
Like, seriously, is this a non-normal request? I cannot be the first person to ask for this.
@doxiemoxie212 yaaaay!! so glad you finally got the results! I had a weird convo with the girl about mine also. like me asking for her to mail the gender to me for DS to read was some foreign concept. but she did... on a real nice paper with graphics... a week and a half later. I was pissed. (that envelope I thought I had that day we found out the gender, wasn't from them. we caved and read my results online THEN made a paper for DS ourselves... glad we didn't wait!)

@doxiemoxie212 I have to wait until the anatomy scan anyway which is pretty much half way. My plan is to have them put it in an envelope but not document it on a chart or anything so in case of a gender neutral emergency, like an emotional breakdown over green and yellow, we have it.

@krashke We were team green with our first and I still think it's one of the best, most fun things we ever did. There's so much about my labor/delivery I can't remember, but the memory of the emotion/joy/disbelief in my husband's voice as he said," It's a boy?!" right as they held my son up in front of me will be crystal clear in my mind forever. (And now I'm gonna cry a little bit about it, like I do whenever I think about it.)
I don't know what we're going to do with this one. I am tempted to find out this time just to have a different experience, but then I remember how cool it was to not know, so I'm torn! We opted out of finding out the sex from our NIPT, but we could still consider it at the anatomy scan.

@MoonOverGoldsboro - I wanted DH to announce the sex to me when our second was born (we found out with DS1). But I couldn't' help but look and I actually announced it before he could spit out the words. I vividly remember saying "I was right, it IS a boy!"

@MoonOverGoldsboro That is such a sweet story/memory! I want to be team green so we can have one of those delivery room moments from the movies where MH goes out into the waiting room with pink or blue cigars to tell everyone what we had. Lol!!

@lindsayleigh1989 I just popped over to July to see what you were talking about. Whoa!
So I just read through the WHOLE poll thread and I just can't.
a) why are people getting their panties in such a bundle when in 4-6 weeks they will lose interest and never come back. Just look at us. We have literally hundreds of Introductions between two threads and now I would say we have about 25 people who participate on the reg
b) NO ONE IS SAYING YOU CANT START A THREAD! Just think about it before you do.
c) if you're only here to AW post your own one off threads...we don't want you #sorrynotsorry these boards are for giving and receiving support

@krashke exactly, I'm not sure why people thinking MORE humans posting MORE AW threads = community?? Like, if you think reading through other people's questions/complaints/etc ever is "too much work" then I'm sorry but you are not trying to be part of a community.
@nimmle They totally stole that "I'm starting to show" thing. I'm not sure if it is original to when it was started here, but we had one too - it ended up being pretty funny/in good fun.
ETA, I understand why it would piss you off though, since there is so much insanity happening on that board. The joke gets lost.
I was raging until I saw it was a gif party. if you check out the "when are stm announcing?" that was started by queen special snowflake who declared she will post what she wants when she wants completing ignoring the stm check in and the when are you announcing thread but her minions followed her there so by all means stay there haha.
also when they are so concerned about havjng so much to catch up on how is it they want even more threads to read? I don't think they logic much
