Re: Symptoms w/o 11/13

  • You can do it @coco2787!!

Im with people on the cold, though I don’t know if that’s being pregnant or my California blood refusing to adapt to 40 degree weather. I’ve lived in cozy clothes and a blanket all week. I need a warm bath.

  • The acne was the first symptom and it's not going away :( now I'm also so exhausted and my sense of smell is extremely heightened.
  • @christycalifornia kids are really adaptable! Your daughter sounds really darling and really we should all bow at the feet of our children because they ARE so adaptable. She won’t curse your name as an adult because you were nauseous when you were pregnant. It probably won’t  even stick in her memory.

That said, I’ve been a grouchy biotch and I definitely have Mom guilt for that. This too shall pass amen until then all the snuggles and kisses! Hang in there!
  • I have no symptoms......sometimes I forget im pregnant... Anyone feeling the same ?
  • The acne was the first symptom and it's not going away :( now I'm also so exhausted and my sense of smell is extremely heightened.
I had it bad with my son. It eventually got better but it was horrible. I used Belli which was safe for pregnancy. This time around I’m using African black soap and tree tea spray. It’s kinda helping but maybe because it’s still early idk
  • @stlmegs totally random but because of your profile pic being bare legs, all I see when I read your SN is “legs.” That’s how I’ve memorized you. Stalker alert

  • @thebabynumberone That was me last pregnancy. I had zero symptoms until 8 weeks, I kept psyching myself out I wasn't pregnant!

@hillbillywife Amen to that! Thanks for the reminder!
  • Nausea has really set in. I never had it with my first. I've been getting car sick/motion sick driving home from work. I have an hour plus commute so this is not good. Also, last night I kept getting woken up by nausea and couldn't sleep.
  • @zande2016 I’ve been dealing with night nausea too! My poor husband has been so neglected this week lol Not to mention making dinner has been horrible. I eat mostly plant-based and cooking raw meat for him has been so gag-inducing. Luckily he’s been doing the dishes for me so I get a bit of a break. My poor son is probably feeling neglected too. I’m for real like on mom auto-pilot! I don’t know how anyone ever survives being pregnant with a baby under a year old at home.. I’m barely managing with a **mostly** independent 23 month old!

  • @kmac103 I'm plant based too (well aside from a bit of dairy), last night we had tacos and as I was cooking the meatless beef crumbles, it looked so much like real meat, I was gagging. Ugh it's gonna be a long first trimester. My son is not quite 14 months so he's still pretty needy. It's definitely tough but hopefully in 6 weeks or so we'll all be feeling a little better.
  • @coco2787 hang in there! hugs!

  • WTF is this bloating?! I do not remember this from last time. I feel like there is a giant balloon inside of me. This puffiness is starting to hurt. I got some stretchy waist jeans at Old Navy the other day because I couldn't handle life in my normal pants anymore.

  • I’m completely exhausted. I’m nauseous but haven’t threw up yet. My nauseous started at 5.5 weeks and I’ll be 7 weeks in 2 Days. Nothing hardly sounds good for me to eat and smells are horrible. I will smell certain things and feel so sick.
  • Soo nauseous, tired, heachache, and more. Thought I needed some caffeine but I can't stomach a coffee right now. So I'm drinking a Coke Zero for the bubbles and it's not helping of course.
I'm 7 weeks today, I hope the rest of the first tri goes by quickly because this is getting really old.
  • @acunamatada 7 weeks yesterday and I'm also wondering how I'm going to make it through the rest of first tri. This pregnancy is kicking my ass way worse than I remember with DS.

I've been getting waves of nausea today but instead of getting sick I have this ridiculously strong urge to sneeze. Then I finally sneeze and the nausea goes away for a little bit. WTF this is new and strange.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I just use Simple face wash, but it's not doing anything really. I didn't have this symptom with my first or second pregnancy. First was a girl, second only made it to 10 wks so not sure on gender, but maybe this one is a boy?? Would be interesting if that's the case.
  • @JelloBean1 If you're just using a face wash and having trouble with acne, you should try using a moisturizer. If your skin is dry, it may go into overproduction of oil to try and compensate. If that happens, you may actually think your skin is oily and it may not feel dry, because of the overproduction of oil.

I rarely get acne, but do more often when pregnant, for sure. These are magic:

  • This may have already been covered, but has anybody else been batteling caffeine headaches? I am a big caffeine drinker normally& have tried to go cold turkey since finding out I was pregnant(I have had two glasses of sweet tea). Just wondering if anybody had any good advice on how to help with them or you just kind of have to wait until your body gets used to it?
  • @christycalifornia i was always told not to use products with salicylic acid during pregnancy
  • @mrsj1215 I normally drink a decent amount of caffeine, too. I switched my coffee beans to a mix of about 2/3 decaf with 1/3 caffeinated coffee, so that I can get away with drinking 2 cups in the morning. With my son I quit cold turkey like you did, and was miserable. This time, just switching out the blend, has gotten me by without any caffeine related ailments so far.

You're allowed a small amount of caffeine each day, I say don't torture yourself and drink a little to stave off the headaches and other nasty caffeine withdrawal symptoms.

  • @wildtot I'm a tad behind on my thread reading and SO happy to see you got good news!
  • @thebabynumberone It can definitely be normal to have minimal to no symptoms. :) I am sure if there arent others now there will be and you won't be alone. You are pregnant though!! yay! Also some people just get symptoms later on. Mine didnt start until week 8 in my first and I was sick until week 15/16.

  • Thank you @d_marie_23!! I think I will try that coffee trick or something like it to help!
  • @mrsj1215 I would for sure bring it up tomyoir OB. I know mine is very relaxed about caffeine use and suggested not to stop cold turkey if you wanted to cut down but never suggested I give it up entirely. Caffeine headaches are the worst! also cold back on the neck can sometimes help depending on where you feel your headache

  • All the nausea. And so early. I'm just over 5 weeks. I had a lot of nausea and threw up a LOT with my first and it lasted to almost 20 weeks. Im so overwhelmed by that possibility right now because I already feel so bad.
  • @Savanna111911 I completely feel you. I am just trying to remind myself every pregnancy is different and if it gets bad I am asking for meds i dont feel like suffering through it for no reason like I did last time

  • Thank you @lindsayleigh1989! I have my first appointment Tuesday so I think I will add that to list of questions to ask her! I definetly want to cut back from what I was having before(especially coke& dr. pepper) but it's nice to hear that I probably won't have to cut it out altogether and have terrible headaches(because caffeine headaches definelty are the worst)!
  • @mrsj1215 I have my first appointment on Tuesday too! Yeah I have been allowing myself a small glass of soda per the OB I saw at urgent care since I am getting hormone migraines and I cant take excedrin but I have definitely cut back. I have been using sparkling lightly sweetened water they have at aldi and target. That has definitely helped replace the carbination I like

  • Hoping we both have a great first appointment Tuesday!..That water does sound good! I'll have to see if they have something like it around where I live(it's about 40 minutes to the nearest target. Small town problems).. And yes I have cut out sodas a few times when I was trying to lose weight& Excedrin extra strength was usually my go to! And I'm going to ask my doctor Tuesday, but I think I have probably been being a little too hard on myself when it comes to caffeine I just didn't know!

Oh yeah? Huh. Must have missed that one  Like I said I rarely get acne, so never really looked into safe treatments for it during pregnancy. Anyway, they're really great when we're not pregnant! Lol
  • wait you mean there are products that arent safe to uae while pregnant?! but I was just eating sushi and swordfish, while smoking and enjoyinf a jack and coke, while doing crunches and taking all the meds!!

just kidding but for real the list of restrictions feels a little insane these days. @christycalifornia I had no idea about that either off to go read my face wash!

  • I feel like there is always something new to avoid. **eyeroll** I read yesterday that having fresh pressed juice is bad because it isn’t pasteurized. Yeah, okay. Imma bout to keep drinking my juice and using my face wash without a single care.  :D

  • @wildtot @christycalifornia I read that salicylic acid is ok if it's a low % - but of course I already replaced all of my skin products  :|
  • @ckmb_knottie I’ve already changed too lol i remember breaking out so bad though idk even a low dose would if helped lol I’d rather just err on the side of caution so i don’t drive myself crazy worrying more.

Im not as concerned with certain foods tho as long as i trust them and don’t go too crazy with it. The pressed juice actually new too me I’d think it be a healthy choice lol

I haven't read anything really convincing about avoiding salicilic acid products, just that it's related to aspirin (or in aspirin?) which causes birth defects. Most of the concerns I've read were for prescription topical and oral meds so I take that recommendation with a grain of salt. I still use my face scrub a couple times a week  ;)
But if you're looking for an alternative to those spot treatments, I've always used blister bandaids cut into pimple sized patches. I'll wear them overnight and the next day it'll usually suck out all the goo.. Super gross but so satisfying   :D
  • 7 weeks tomorrow and this nausea is horrible. Ginger ale, saltines, graham crackers, nothing helps. Anyone have any luck with anything? Bought a pair of sea bands today to try. The only time I'm not nauseous is when I'm super focused at work but when things calm down it hits me like a brick wall.
  • @itsval I tried peppermint tea yesterday and it didn't work for me, but some people swear by it. I've noticed if I drink Gatorade with my meals it helps a little bit.

I am about to order sea bands as well. Let me know how they work for you!
  • @itsval with this pregnancy and my first the only time I didn't feel nauseous is when I'm snacking  :/. Let me know how those sea bands work, I was thinking about getting some too!
