So I made the decision a while ago that when I started IVF I was going to put it on social media- the good and the bad. I just felt/feel like infertility is never talked about, and I can tell you guys that without all of you, I would have lost my damn mind because this journey is so lonely, and I would love to be able to reach people who may be in the same position at some point.
Anyway- I am currently looking for funny pictures to put up about it and I found this and it literally made me belly laugh out loud and I wanted to share.
@purplg8r So it was amazing. So many streets were just dirt alleyways which was beautiful in a very gritty kinda way. You would be walking down a dirt alley with clay buildings everywhere, and turn a corner and find a building that had an entryway that looked like this: (btw these are all my pics)
We spent 2 days in Marrakech looking at the old palaces, wandering the souks and we did a food tour where I ate lamb tanjie (a special kind of tagging from Marrakech), but also ate sheep eyeball (it tasted like bone marrow!), cow spleen (quite nicely seasoned), a snail soup, Moroccan pizza which is this specific bread cooked with onions and paprika...it was all so yummy.
We then went up into the high atlas mountains. This is the view from my room
And we had massages and did this:
Then we ended our trip in Madrid where we just wandered around for a day.
@50Wife Its not finished yet. I want it to be a combination of funny and realistic, so I am still trying to decide if this is the right picture, but I think I am gonna go with this:
So it is time to come clean. H and I have been trying (and trying and trying) for a long time to add to our family with no success. It has been a long, weird, lonely, sad road to get to where we are now. Where are we? Well, we just started meds for IVF (In Vitro Fertilization aka test tube babies). Fertility, or more specifically, infertility is something not talked about often, which is sad as it affects 1 in 8 couples. It makes it incredibly lonely and isolating. I have made the decision to show our journey- not all of it, but a bit of the funny and the scary, in the hopes that if any of my friends are dealing with it or ever do, that they will feel a little bit less lonely than I have during this process. So over the next few weeks, please laugh with us and enjoy pictures of pills, H poking me with needles (he likes it more than he should…), ultrasounds, me after surgery and if we are lucky, at the end of this we will have a larger family than we do now. (I just ask that no one asks me if it works- if it works, you will know, trust me). Wish us luck!
*lurker* @BusinessWife I am so excited for your transfer. Will be sending you good vibes tomorrow. @kiwi2628 You are doing such a kindness by sharing publicly what you are going through with IF and IVF. I bet you will get messages from people you had no idea had struggled or are struggling. There will be people on your feed who will feel less alone just by you sharing, even if they never tell you how much you helped them. TW I have not regretted my decision to be more open about my struggles with loss and was amazed to see how many people reached out and shared about their losses when I shared publicly in October that I had experienced mc. I have also tried to be more open IRL about my RPL and I have generally felt really well supported. end TW. Also those pictures are amazing, I'm glad you had such a good trip.
@kiwi2628 amazing!! Perfectly worded and I'm also willing to bet that you have at least a few of your FB friends reaching out saying they're in the same boat.
I've also been debating whether or not to do something similar when we're closer to IVF and you made me want to do it more!
I hope the whole process goes as smooth as possible for you guys!!
@zamora_spin I have shared the journey with some friends starting back with IUI and it has been really helpful to have someone to talk to. I mean, they don't get it (they are single women- like, not even anywhere close to thinking about any of this yet), but it still helps.
@50Wife I posted it 5 minutes ago and already the outpouring of love has been amazing. People I haven't talked to in YEARS have posted well wishes. It feels great. I know sharing isn't for anyone, and if this doesn't end well, of course I may change my opinion, but I am glad I did, and I think even if IVF doesn't work for us, I will still be happy to have such a big part of my life not shrouded in secrecy.
@kiwi2628 Those pictures are so pretty! What an awesome time! I'm glad you got to go and have some fun before starting IVF.
I love that you went public, and that you've had so much well wishers already! I agree with @50Wife - your post is inspirational in making me want to be more public about IVF too. As you go along, I've love to hear more about your posts and your experience with being public about IVF. My main reason for wanting to go public is similar to what you posted about - if there's someone else out there going through this crap that I know, I don't want them to be alone! I don't know anyone IRL who has IF - thank god for you guys!
@kiwi2628 that's awesome!!! I'm glad that everyone is showing their love and support!
I hate how secretive it becomes. How it's something that you're almost ashamed of. I don't understand why it turns into that. I'd also love to hear about some of your future posts.
Eee! It’s already tomorrow where you are, @BusinessWife! I know I may still be sleeping/just waking up when it all goes down, so I hope everything is amazing!

@kiwi2628 incredible pictures. I’m so glad @purplg8r asked you to share. As for sharing about IVF I love what you wrote and I’m so glad to see it was well received. This whole IF thing really does become this big secret that we carry around virtually alone. I am in awe of your bravery to share your journey. Thank you. And like @50Wife I’d love to hear about the continued responses.
@BusinessWife today’s the day!!!! Sending you all the good vibes.

@kiwi2628 trip really does sound awesome and sounds like you've come back ready to kick ass for your IVF cycle. It's so great what you shared and that you shared. I hope you get lots of positive support! (And not too many people asking every day if it worked or not yet lol!) Someone else told about the IVF but didn't tell about when the FET took place so they had lots of general support, but nobody asking every day around Beta time.
@skilledsailor pleased to hear your DH has taken some action himself. That's a great step.
@kristokekerooni I think everyone gave you good input already on the question of the number to transfer. Number, quality, age, previous history of PG or loss, PGS tested or not. Definitely worth talking to @beary67. You could reach out to @hopeful_mom too. Also check out the the3meatballs blog. But on the other hand you need to take each situation as it comes. And if time is of the essence then that can sway things one way or another. With my DOR and age if we ever got two in one cycle we would consider it depending on quality and which day transfer (i.e. 2 day 3 or 1 day 5) - as my RE has said he expects only 1/20 of my eggs to be capable of leading to a successful PG.
@becca07024411 thanks - I managed with the work schedule, though now with the ER result below I probably didn't need to rearrange anything after all as we probably won't have anything to transfer this time. Murphy's law.
@darkstar42 keeping everything crossed for your beta on 27th
@ndz2018 good news I guess on it "only" being a septum. Hope you can get the surgery asap and back off that bench!
@alohakumu hope you managed to get the rest of the meds they didn't deliver!
@beachbunnyxo123 hope you confirmed O by now and keeping fx that you don't even need to start IVF
@flashley-2 hope you get those SA results back soon. I have no idea what they're doing for four weeks!!!
@50wife first cycle I stimmed only 7 days and second one just now 13 days. So the answer is, nobody knows for sure until you do it, and then it can vary from cycle to cycle, even with the same protocol let alone with different ones. Sorry. Not at all helpful I guess.
@madspunk you're one third of the way through the two weeks until your next cycle and the IUI... you'll soon be there!
AFM back home on the couch after ER. But we only got one mature egg :-(. The big follie had collapsed and the other one had an immature egg. So one mature egg. Now have to wait for the call tomorrow to know if it fertilized or not. Feeling a bit bummed. But even if we can only get one egg at a time we want to keep going. Maybe it takes ten or more retrievals to find a good enough egg. We have one more round with insurance where I'm keen to experiment with a new protocol, if not discuss mini or natural IVF. Lets see!

@BusinessWife Thinking of you today! Fx that everything goes perfectly. @emmasemm I'm so sorry you didn't get as many eggs as you'd hoped. Keeping my fx that it fertilizes!
@BusinessWife, GL today, I hope everything goes well.
@emmasemm, I'm sorry to hear that you only got one egg, but I hope it's "the one."
I have had more monitoring, we're up to daily now that I've started the ganirelix. Yesterday was, shall we say, not fun. It took three tries in three different veins to get blood. I am not looking forward to today. My estradiol levels are still sort of low, but they're climbing so RE's not too worried. ER is still set for Tues, but we'll see if that changes. L ovary is still hanging out behind the top of my uterus, and since it hasn't moved at all as it's gotten bigger, my RE thinks that it might actually be adhered to my uterus with scar tissue. They're going to try to push it out from behind my uterus during ER, but if not, they're going through. Good thing we weren't planning a fresh transfer!
Thanks for all your input, guys. Mobile isn't letting me tag, but I so appreciate all your opinions. I think we have mostly decided on transferring one, but that might change depending on quantity & quality.

AFM: IUI went well yesterday. The nurse said that my cervical fluid was "beautiful" and the timing was perfect. She told me to call her when I get my positive pregnancy test and I had to bite my lip not to say "you mean when I get my period". Oh well. We'll see what happens.

Good morning everyone!!! So we found out this week that we will be doing our egg retrieval next cycle! So last night I sat down with my SO and said to him “ I’m so glad I trusted my instincts and pull the trigger to go to the RE a little earlier than we had planned.” LADIES always listen to yourself! Not only does SO have low sperm count and 0% morph but I have A septum that needs to be surgically removed BUT first egg retrieval in Dec! My cycle starts around the 12/3 and the pharmacy called me last night to verify everything and get this, my prescription plan covers everything except $124 worth, ummmm honestly had no clue how fantastic my insurance is till we began this journey. All the IVF is covered up to 4 times , the Pgs and freeze are obviously not cover but again totally ok with that! Looking like a Feb/ March FET
@JuneRoseRuby So sorry for the BFN! It is disappointing when it seems like everything is lining up perfectly with due dates and everything... and then it doesn't work out. Hugs to you. I hope your next cycle brings that BFP.
@ndz2018 jealous that you have such good insurance!
AF showed up yesterday. Sigh. For now, I'm not going to use opks. Gonna temp every 5th day (just to see if temp spiked) and BD every Friday & Sunday (since I don't see him Mon-Friday evening). I'm tired of waking up at 2:30 am and am just hoping I ovulate on a weekend lol. Then come Jan, I'll be on his insurance and we'll move on to IUI.
Re: IF Testing and Treatment - week of 11/13
Anyway- I am currently looking for funny pictures to put up about it and I found this and it literally made me belly laugh out loud and I wanted to share.
@kiwi2628 I wanna hear vacation stories!! What was your favorite part??
We spent 2 days in Marrakech looking at the old palaces, wandering the souks and we did a food tour where I ate lamb tanjie (a special kind of tagging from Marrakech), but also ate sheep eyeball (it tasted like bone marrow!), cow spleen (quite nicely seasoned), a snail soup, Moroccan pizza which is this specific bread cooked with onions and paprika...it was all so yummy.
We then went up into the high atlas mountains. This is the view from my room
And we had massages and did this:
Then we ended our trip in Madrid where we just wandered around for a day.
All and all, it was a great baby moon (#3).
@BusinessWife I am so excited for your transfer.
I've also been debating whether or not to do something similar when we're closer to IVF and you made me want to do it more!
I hope the whole process goes as smooth as possible for you guys!!
I hate how secretive it becomes. How it's something that you're almost ashamed of. I don't understand why it turns into that.
I'd also love to hear about some of your future posts.

I should get a call within the next less-than two hours with my official transfer time... Enjoying my whole pineapple slices and pom juice with breakfast! Lol Whatever may help! Have a busy morning in store here at home (I took the day off!!!) to keep my mind occupied as much as possible until then...

@laurad75 I love the idea of your donor mirroring @kiwi2628
@purplg8r so sorry again, but if your schedule decides for you re next cycle then hopefully that takes some of the stress out of it.
@zwink1 have you had another monitoring? Any idea on ER day? PS loved your chinchillas on Monday :-)
@juneroseruby hope your "Period underwear" conundrum has been answered and AF didn't arrive and testing goes well tomorrow
@shortstack930 hope the IUI went smoothly!
@thecolddoesnotherme welcome and hope your US and BW goes well today
@avrilmai did you get the repeat tests done and back?
@rvamom315 good for you on taking a second opinion. We have enough to deal with without crappy service and care.
@hollyyyy hope AF came so you can get started!
Lets see!

AFM:
IUI went well yesterday. The nurse said that my cervical fluid was "beautiful" and the timing was perfect. She told me to call her when I get my positive pregnancy test and I had to bite my lip not to say "you mean when I get my period". Oh well. We'll see what happens.

@BusinessWife thinking of you!!
AFM, I broke down and tested Wednesday even though I talked up my game of how strong I am, the underwear debacle threw me for a loop. BFN. Tested when I got home tonight and BFN. I haven't used FMU or SMU yet, so I will tomorrow morning but I am expecting more of the same BFN I have been seeing. I've had some back pain and a headache today which usually means AF is coming within a few hours, but she just hasn't yet. So AF will probably be here by Sunday at the latest.

@JuneRoseRuby. Oh no... I'm so sorry... any chance it's just still too early?
FAM - We did it! DH was running late from trying to get out of work, but my doctor swapped me around with the other patients and came back to us after he'd arrived. Phew! We went the diner to eat after, and got home and into cozy clothes not too long ago... now here's hoping we can get a funny movie to put on here, break for tonight's pio, and soak up the PASP bliss... keeping everything crossed...

@BusinessWife PASP! Woo! FX so hard for you!!
@BusinessWife so glad everything went so well!!
