I would say it definitely would make a difference!! Increased blood in the body and increased blood flow from working out. Especially if you did a lot of lower body movements.

That' a great point!  I didn't even think of this. I did a lot of lower body stuff like squats and such Tuesday night.

My worst symptom right now is congestion. I’m waking up at 4am so stuffed I can’t breathe through my nose at all and I can’t fall asleep mouth breathing, so I just get up :( if the boogers are bloody does that make it a sinus infection?
  • I'm so super emotional that I think I'm scaring my husband. I had an hour long cry last night because my husband made a joke about how he was going to "leave" if our 18 month old didn't go to sleep. I took it as he wanted to leave ME and couldn't stop crying. He just doesn't know what to do with me. I wasn't nearly as emotional with my first pregnancy, and I'm normally a pretty level headed person. Ugh, I wish I could get my emotions in check! I hate this so much!
  • I am having sore lady bits as well, and had no idea that was a symptom, so in a way I'm a bit relieved! The congestion is starting to hit me too. All these weird things I had no idea pregnancy did you to.

@Pearlvirus I don't think a bloodiness means that, it happens to me all the time when things are dry and my sinuses get irritated.

  • @Pearlvirus it could just be dryness. I've been having bloody boogers and snot too. I wonder if its just a pregnancy thing although I'm a dry person in general.
  • Like @alisonhadley said, you get a 50% increase in your blood volume when you're pregnant, which is what causes all the swelling/congestion/shortness of breath, palpitations and other fun.  Since your nasal passages and cervix are very vascular and sensitive areas, it's also the reason a lot of us see more bloody noses and vaginal spotting that "has no cause" and turns out to be harmless.  They're just areas that are easily irritated and bleed easily because of the high level of blood vessels in that area.

  • @suchaglencoco I have the opposite: If I eat something salty, it doesn't seem to go away. I'll eat blueberries or something to try to rid myself of the bad taste, but it lingers. It's seem to have gotten better the past week or so.

And bleh, I just seem to feel kind of blah lately (maybe more sad than blah). I felt pretty happy first tri (despite nausea), so not sure what happened.

  • @silverhope, I think we're in a lull right now. Like the beginning is so exciting and you're constantly thinking of names, the sex, the possibilities, and now it's and calm time before you start feeling the kicks and fun stuff.
  • I am almost 100% certain my vibrations are baby fluttering around... they got stronger today and a little slower!! I’m going to ask my dr, but I don’t see him till the 27th
  • Pearlvirus try saline spray....eases nasal inflammation and lubes things up!
  • @justsuzie I do all the things already :( twice daily neti pot w salt and Goldenseal was be midwives recomendation Plus lots of steam of course. Nothing is touching it. I probably have a cold as well, though sometimes it’s hard to say since I’ve been stuffed since July.
  • @heelsidehero @mileswithmyles so sad to hear about the headaches starting. I had them with DS for a good chunk of the second trimester and I really hope they don't make an appearance this pregnancy. Hope they don't last long for either of you.
  • RLP has me laying down with a pillow wedged under my right side. Ughhh please stop
  • @babys_2018 yes to dry painful nips. What I do is slather my boobs, belly and bum/upper thighs in this organic baby belly lotion I used last time to help with skin stretching and all that's related: stretch mark prevention ( though that's mostly a genetic thing), dry skin, tight skin, itchy skin. I use Gaia Belly Butter but I'm sure any lotion meant for stretching skin will do. It does seem to help me.
  • I’m playing morning sickness or stomach bug this morning. Awful diarrhea and I’ve vomited a few times. My OB wants me to go to the ER but that seems excessive. The OB ER department wont take you under 16 weeks so I’d have to go to a regular ER. I know I’m getting dehydrated but not severely yet. Advice? I’m thinking maybe walk in clinic.
  • @Poppy0419 If your OB is saying go to the ER, I think you should go. Princess Poppy deserves the best care!

I went to the ER the last time I had a stomach virus (and I wasn't even pregnant). I have been to many walk-in clinics; however, for a stomach virus (if that's what you have), you will likely need IVs, which I don't think they can do there. So they might just send you to the ER anyway.

I hope you feel better soon and can keep some water down. Maybe pick up some electrolyte packets if you are trying to tough it out at home.

  • @Poppy0419 I'm not someone who rushes to the ER to be honest. How long have you been having symptoms? I try to give it about 6 to 8 hours or if the vomiting or diarrhea is excessive. I get the stomach flu every year and normally throw up everything the first day and then can hold it down the second. Of course being pregnant is different and I'm not a doctor so ultimately do what you're comfortable with.
  • As an ex-ER nurse, I agree with both @charlestonchew and @silverhope.  If you decide to go somewhere, I would say skip the walk-in clinic because they'll just send you to an ER anyway.  They will definitely not do an IV and fluids there, and most definitely will not take the liability of something going wrong with a pregnant woman.  However, I also agree that unless you are literally not able to keep fluids down, even pregnant, there probably isn't reason to run to the ER because all they'll do is give you an IV, fluids and maybe some Zofran or something for nausea/vomiting.  And a huge bill.  Try pedialyte.  I find it so much easier to drink than Gatorade, and it comes in popsicles and other forms that might be easier to keep down.  And ask your OB, but I *think* Imodium is okay to take in pregnancy, too.

  • Literally not able to keep fluids down. Water, sprite, pedialyte...nothing. I haven’t had the stomach flu since high school. This is hell. I’m waiting for the on call OB to call me back. It’s been since like 4am this morning.
  • @Poppy0419 yikes that sounds terrible. I hope it gets better soon. It's challenging when you can't keep anything down. If you do try liquids or food do it very slowly and small amounts. Get well!

@onesmallcoconut yes I need to get better on using lotion! I am sadly prone to stretch marks and I really don't want to add any more so I'm hoping to be hydrated internally and externally lol. Thanks for the tip.

To me that seems like enough to head to the ER. Feel better!
  • @poppy0419 I agree.  Go to the ER, skip walk-in/med express clinics.  Get the fluids, and feel better soon!

  • +1 for the ER!
    Hope you feel better soon.

  • @Poppy0419 I had the worst stomach bug of my life last pregnancy. It was hell. Terrified of getting it again this time  :o Hopefully they can give you some Zofran and that will help. Feel better!
  • Is anyone else going to be taking Makena injections this pregnancy (to prevent preterm labor) or have you taken them in past pregnancies? I start them next week and was just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and what symptoms I might want to look forward to/commiserate with others on.

  • @heelsidehero headaches started for me this week, too.
    ME too. Lovely.  :/
Some mild headaches for me this week too!!
  • @Poppy0419 hope the ER docs can help you get this figured out and you can start feeling better soon!

  • @kpc914 i can not believe your doctor is just now getting around to getting you Zofran!  But I’m so glad it is helping. I had the issue with them wearing off after 2-3 hours which is why i went for the pump. You can also ask for 8mg pills.

My nausea is still persistent but I’m only throwing up once or twice at night. Acne, sore boobs still.

New this his week is crusty nipples (even though I’m not making any colostrum when I try to hand express). And headaches behind my left eye.
  • ugh. Reading this reminds me of the extra bloody noses I had last pregnancy. Plus going through all of winter pregnant will probably result in even more this time.

Two bags of fluids, Zofran, Phenegran helped a lot. I was severely dehydrated and they told me I waited way too long to come in. They let me go finally late last night. I’m tired but a lot better today.
Glad you went in and so happy you're feeling better.
  • With my (almost daily) headaches, I’m also getting throbbing pain in what feels like my top far left molar. I’m pretty sure the tooth pain only happens when I have a headache, so I’m hoping it isn’t a tooth issue. I have a cleaning scheduled in 4 weeks, but I’d really like to avoid getting X-rays. Ugh.
