We are going with a sailboat theme for the little guy--this is what I've picked out from babybedding.com. Don't ask me why we went with sailboats--we live in a landlocked state lol. I just love the colors in this. Navy has always been one of my favorite colors (I made my bridesmaids wear it for our wedding) and the rest of our house is mostly cool colors--greys, light blues, and cream/white. Bonus--the room we are using is already painted in Sherwin Williams "agreeable grey," so no painting necessary!
The nursery is currently painted bright red (like blood red) from the previous tenant. My main mission is to get the landlord to be reasonable and paint it back a neutral color
@allowachick ughhh, worst. You'd think a landlord would freak out about a color like that, not changing it back to a neutral. I hope he agrees with you!!!
@Mattel That is the perfect theme for a girl's nursery.. Please post pictures when it's completed!
We are going with a "woodland" theme. I have no idea how it will all come together, but it's been fun looking through some ideas! I have also never posted a picture on here so I apologize in advance if they don't work.. I'll get the hang of things eventually.
So this may sound crazy but my kids do not sleep well alone. I have some time to decide since baby will room in with me for the early months but dd and ds both are asking for bunk beds so baby can sleep in their room. I’m pretty strict with the rule that bedroom is for sleeping not playing, so that would free up guest room upstairs. But I do feel silly with 3 kids sharing a bedroom in a 5 bedroom house! That said, if it works I’m not complaining!
@dan0081 Love the woodland theme! We are moving our daughter to her big girl bed and bedroom, and I am leaning towards a girly woodland theme. The new baby is getting the same grey and teal nursery my daughter had. I will add some accents when the baby is born and we find out the sex!
@mtkbaby Yes, I think it'll be a great theme! We aren't finding out the sex of the baby either, but I posted a picture which I think would be lovely for a girl's woodland-themed room. Please keep me updated if you buy some fun items for your daughter's room.. I'd love more ideas!
We are converting our dining room into the nursery for now. The walls are this beautiful grey/navy color. Depending on boy/girl the accents will either be peach and gold or grey and light blue.
@mmmmkay, I LOVE it! I have the same NPS poster hanging in my classroom. How did you do the mural? It looks fantastic!
it was a bit complicated but not that hard. we measured the wall and made a design to fit. then used a projecter to project it onto the wall and used chalk to draw the design on the wall. we bought several colors of grey (thought mixed some together to get mid colors) and painted every other stripe, waited for it to dry and painted the other one. two coats later we were done. the effort was more in prep than in actual painting. it looks like the colors in each stripe kind of fade into the next but it's just an optical illusion. each "mountain" is one color.
I am so excited we just found out we are having a girl and i got to order my rug which is deer skin. we have my grandpas elk antlers we are using my deer antlers and then some wood sola flowers thats ate lilac color. here is the rug and inspiration for my nursery
Last night, I made a floral wreath mobile for above baby’s crib! If baby is a boy we’ll just pack it away and hope for a girl next time hubby thinks I’m nuts making this without knowing whether baby is a boy or girl, but I just had to do it while I had the idea in my head and 10 minutes to do a hobby of my own! You ladies feel me, right?!
Mama to Rowan Sebastian and baby boy coming in April!
@growingournest - very cute! Three friends and I have been doing a "craft night" every few weeks. First one we did vinyl logos on insulated tumblers, last one we made and canned applesauce.
I am looking forward to anatomy scan on the 16th so we really can come up with a nursery theme. I haven't even done much looking as it's overwhelming to me (since I'm not a home decor person).
This thread is killing me!! I refuse to put effort into the baby's room until we know gender...8 more days!! I love the idea though! So many cute ones.
So I think I have decided to do vintage furniture in the nursey instead of buying brand new (with the exception of the crib). My husband and I are going to look at this dresser today. I think I could paint it and make it look pretty cute. Maybe even change out the knobs. Would just have to find some other pieces to go with it.
I got my inspiration from these pics off pinterest:
@JJMNO1616 I have that same dresser in your first inspiration picture! It was mine from when I was little and I painted it white for DD’s nursery and it’s perfect. I actually scored the exact dresser with an additional middle row of narrow drawers for $35 at a community yard sale that we will use for this baby. Surprisingly, I’ve found a lot in that style on Craigslist and I LOVE that one you found. It’s so perfect and girly. If you have a Hobby Lobby, they have a great selection of decorative replacement knobs and every other week the knobs will be 50% off.

@Mattel The style in the picture you are referring to is the same furniture I had as a kid as well! I love it and I have seen a few dressers for sale in that style on Facebook marketplace. My biggest concern about buying the one I am going to see today is finding other pieces that go well with it but at least I have some time. I’m ok with different styles as long as they all look good together.
I love the vintage dresser idea. Especially the mirrored one. My parents still have a similar dresser and if we had the room I'd so be renting a uhaul.
we are seriously considering buying a new house in may. We are out growing our current place. Just seeing this thread makes me feel like maybe moving wouldn't be so bad.
I cannot fully decide on the style of the room we want yet for our little boy. Definitely the animal woodland theme. I love the wood look but I also love the mountains. What is your vote??
I finally have a theme for baby boy (yay!!) I found my perfect bedding on burts bee's site and it will be here on Saturday. The sheets are gray buffalo check and there will be navy accents (the blanket for when baby is bigger is navy, gray and white check, navy bedskirt and changing pad covers). We picked out a blue paint color today and will be adding bears here and there. I bought this "rug" for his room the other day and made these bears (pinterest inspired) for the mobile last night:
@babyclarke429 I personally love the wood theme! I also think it'll grow with baby if that's the room he will stay in once he gets older. Not that a mural can't be painted over, but the wood is pretty timeless.

feeling guilty because we don't have another a room for the new baby so he won't get his own space or nursery

@JJMNO1616 if I was having a little girl that would be my dream room for her. I love florals. So simple and so pretty.
@mmmKayy I love the mural we are thinking of doing something similar with the mountains.

I’m not finding anything I love for nursery colors... so far the only one I’ve not hated is grey, navy and mint. Anyone have other ideas?
