@Aurora1973 hopefully it is a pretty chart & this is it!
@adirat *TW* when I hit my EDD one of my friends who had a loss told me this "my loss was incredibly sad and I so struggled after. But if I hadn't gone through that, Mason (her son) wouldn't be here today and I can't imagine my life without him". It doesn't sound as comforting typed out but it made me think that the baby I get to hold in my arms will be so worth it. *end TW*
Diagnosis (If you've been): AMH, ovulation days
Cycle/CD: month 15, cycle 11, cd 10
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) I have my first follie check tomorrow. Hoping that I'm lucky and that I only have to go in once. And starting to freak out about giving myself the injection
How are things going? *TW* Not TTC related but I went in to the dermatologist yesterday about a spot and she's pretty sure I have skin cancer. They did a biopsy but she said it looks textbook. I'll find out results in a week. Luckily (I guess), she said it's the kind that has a very very small chance of spreading or causing any more issues once removed. She said since I will possibly be pregnant (it'll be after trigger) they'lll do the procedure ASAP. I'm really ready for this year to be over *end Tw*
Any questions? So I have until Friday to decide if I want to be put on H's insurance. If I get added to his, the deductible is $300 then they pay 50% until $3500 is met then they cover 100% until the lifetime maximum of $11,000 is hit. However, it will be $100 more a week to add me on. So $5200 more. I'm trying to get RE office to email me back about how much IVF is and any finacinh they have . Any suggestions?
GTKY: Did/are you doing anything to celebrate Halloween this year? H and I did Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party earlier this year and I've dressed my puppy up and am handing out candy (although we haven't gotten nearly as many kids this year!)
@purplg8r Oh my gosh that is so scary! I hope the biopsy comes back benign and/or it is easy to take care of. This year has not been kind to you...I hope 2018 is MUCH better.
@purplg8r So sorry to hear about the possible skin cancer. That's really scary, and unexpected. Regarding the injection - you've got this! I believe in you! GL at the follie check. I'm sorry, but I don't have any suggestions on the insurance coverage. I feel like I'm so bad at picking insurance out for myself. What's your current insurance coverage like for IF? Do you think there's a pretty high likelihood you'll have to go the IVF route?
@kiwi2628 I hope it's just a paperwork snafu that's making your insurance only have 4 cycles on file! FWIW Mine told me my cycles didn't count and they wouldn't approve IVF, but then I had my RE's office call them and they pushed everything through to approve IVF. FX for good news for you! I can only imagine how much you want to scream thinking you might have to do 2 more f'n cycles!!
@adirat she said I'd have 2 choices--one includes stitches--she said that has a slightly higher cure rate and heals into a little line but there are physical restrictions after it. The other is an open wound and they cauterize it so the scar would be a bigger circle. Still a high cure rate (just not as high) but no physical restrictions. I have softball tournament and a bunch of races coming up do I think that's the way I'll go.
@madspunk my own insurance doesn't cover any IF at all. And I'm not sure we'll have to go down the IVF route. This is our first TI and we still have IUI to try.
@purplg8r Are the benefits on his insurance better, besides the IF coverage? It's tough since you don't know how you'll react to the meds yet... FWIW I didn't do IVF and I have insurance coverage on a lot of what I did this year, but I still blew threw about $5,000 on copays, coinsurance, and uncovered medications over the course of 6 medicated cycles.
@beachbunnyxo123 acupuncture isn’t like a massage where you
feel the effects right away, it’s very subtle.
Also, I didn’t like it the first couple of times I did it but I found an
acupuncturist that I really liked and it helped me relax.

@purplg8r Oh my gosh that is so scary! I hope it’s benign and they can treat it quickly. Please keep us posted. Yes actually my work event is a Brewers Ball where people come out and pay one price and sample beers from local breweries. We have a silent auction too
@purplg8r Yikes, that's so scary!! I'm glad you went in and it was caught now though! Keep us updated on how you're doing!! Also, regarding the shot - can your husband do it? I still couldn't do any of mine myself! Last month he was terrified to do it, but this month he was fine since he had already done it once. All of the nurses in my family have said to do it like a dart...just quick and right in. You got this!
@beachbunnyxo123 , @purplg8r , Thanks for checking in on me. So for a small amount of back story first- I had an OB that I thought I really loved up till about April. Weasked to do an IUI, which the OB assured me they've done plenty of times (remember, I don't have a local RE, and traveling 5 hours one way for an IUI is just not feasible). So we got ready to do the IUI with the OB, which was a freaking disaster. First they scheduled me wrong, so when I showed up, they wouldn't see me, Wouldn't rescheduled me, so I missed the month because I ovulated. Then my doctor went on vacation, noone told me, again, missed the IUI. The last cycle (about in April), they screwed up my H's sample, killed all the sperm, had us come back the next day, waited literally 9 hours int he waiting room between the follicle check, waiting for H's sample, and had to go pick up my own trigger shot because they didn't realize they were out till I was back in the room, finally got back, hey gave me the trigger, immediately did the IUI, then found out they screwed up the sample and there were only maybe ten living sperm in the sample anyway, AND I don't think the trigger was right because I planned to test the trigger out, but even right after, there was no positive test. Oh, and when I complained about all this, they told me I needed to chill because I wasn't pregnant and pregnant patients are the priority, not me. So I dumped that OB and really needed to find a new one. I found this one, didn't expect great things, because an doctor that's god is probably full, right? BUT OMG. You guys. He was awesome. He's super young, which was odd because I have only ever had older men OBs, and also cute, so that totally threw me off, but that means, theoretically, he should be up to date on research, etc... right? Anyway, today was supposed to just be talking, establishing care, and making sure he could help with local monitoring. We talked for a couple minutes, he saw that I kinda already knew everything, so he didn't bore me with all the "normal" stuff. He saw that I haven't had a pap in a while, decided to do one right then (OMGGGGGG, was not expecting that), looked over my list of alllll the tests RE wanted (which was HUGE) and decided to draw immediately, and offered a couple other tests he recommended (genetic testing). Like, this guy got shit done, guys. I expected all that to take a while and I'd have to play good patient, but no. he was like "let's git her done" All I have to do now till IVF is verify with doc if he wants the HSG and/or SIS and that's it! I feel good.
and wow, sorry about the novel.

@KristoKekerooni yay! I am so happy you like this new guy!! I will say I never like to have older doctors because I find that they get stuck in their ways and don't stay up to date on new stuff, so I hope that since this guy seems more on the ball, everything goes fast for you!
@purplg8r That's so scary about the possible skin cancer! I'm glad the prognosis is good. Fx all going well with the treatment. @KristoKekerooni
That's fabulous that your new ob is so great! It makes such a huge
difference when you feel like your doctor is truly on your side and
helping out.
@purplg8r that is so scary!! I hope that if it is skin cancer they are able to get rid of it quickly. @KristoKekerooni I’m so glad you had such a good appointment! It’s amazing how different some doctors can be, even in the same field.

Just got off the phone with my nurse. They figured it all out- it was a computer error since my old nurse retired a few cycles ago, so when I switched nurses, some things slipped through the cracks as far as input goes, but its all fine now. My nurse says that its gonna be tight with getting insurance to ok everything and getting the drugs to me in time to actually start a cycle in time, so they think they are gonna front me the drugs and I will give them drugs in return when my insurance goes through and I get them- aka kiiiiind of going around insurance in a legal way but one that drives insurance companies crazy, but fuck insurance companies. At the end of the convo with the nurse I was like, 'so this is really happening you think?' and she said yes and I broke down. I didn't even realize how stressed I was the past 2 days because I just cried hard on the phone for a solid 3 minutes while my nurse just kept telling me its ok, its gonna happen, which would make me cry more. Guys, I'm babbling because I am so happy because:
TD:DR: I am starting IVF when I get back from Morocco later this month!
@adirat so many hugs girl. I think @BusinessWife said it all so beautifully. Hang in there. We are all rooting so hard for you!!!
@purplg8r wow sounds like you have a lot going on right now. The trigger shot is not as bad as it seems! Forgive me I forget if you’ve done one before. As far as the dermatologist apt I’m glad she seems confident that it can all get addressed and soon. The insurance situation is always so tricky. I have no IF coverage but I feel like for those who do sometimes it seems like a cruel trick that you think you’re covered and you wind up paying so much money anyways like others have said. Wishing you lots of luck with all the situations and decisions you have to make.
@laurad75 I figured that’s how it worked with acupuncture so I’m gonna continue to go every week I could definitely use the de-stress piece and the IF benefit!
@KristoKekerooni woohoo!!! This guys sounds great! I’m so glad that it went well and that you feel good about him. Sounds like you’re in good hands and I’m glad he’s getting the ball rolling right away instead of keeping you waiting especially because you have already been waiting long enough. Glad to hear it! When’s you’re next appointment and next steps moving forward from here?
AFM- so my RE called me last night at 730. He really is so nice and has been spending a lot of time reviewing my case which I also feel bad about. He knows I have the cardiologist appointment today I feel like he’s still worried about my breathing and HR from Friday. Anyways he said instead of putting me through another hysteroscopy that he could give me a suppository that helps with dilation so they can do a mock trial and saline sono and if that works then use that plan for an FET. Seems like he’s trying to cut back on the anesthesia piece which I appreciate especially since I spent a lot of money on that surgery. I have a follow up appointment with him on Monday to discuss our options further and IVF (I wanted to discuss maybe doing half ICSI and half natural for fertilization depending on how many eggs are retrieved) and a couple of other things to review. But I’m scared. He’s put so much effort and energy into my case but I’m scared he’s not gonna be able to get the catheter in and even if he does for the mock trial I’m still concerned for something so time sensitive and crucial like an FET. Part of me wants to just say I will not be offended at all if you want another doctor to do the saline and the FET and you can continue to manage my case otherwise but I feel bad saying no that he can’t but I’m worried at the same time. I do like him but I am concerned. I’m not confrontational and this has been stressing me. I feel lost and don’t really know what to do.
@kiwi2628 , @zwink1 , @darkstar42 , @50Wife , @shortstack930 , @beachbunnyxo123 - Ya'll are the freaking best. What would I do without you guys cheering me along, keeping me moving? So much love. next step- An appointment with RE on Nov. 22, to discuss if everything is in place, etc, and to go over plans and protocol. Starting IVF first cycle in january.

@beachbunnyxo123 It's sweet you're sensitive to his feelings, but I think you can find a nice way to broach it with him at the appointment- I guess he's also concerned and maybe if you open the conversation he'll be happy to discuss options and backup plans in case he can't do the transfer himself.
AFM CD1 is here and the nightly stabbings commence tomorrow for IVF#2. I'm so relieved and feel like a different person compared to the last week. It also helps that I can breathe today, and stand for more than 2 minutes without risking passing out... ;-)

@kiwi2628 YESSSS so glad everything worked out!!! @beachbunnyxo123 I am also a very non-confrontational person but if you can find a way to speak with your doctor about your concerns I would try to do it. This is too important and after all you've been through already, you want to make sure you feel comfortable that he will be able to do the procedure. @emmasemm I'm glad you're feeling better!!
AFM: BFN this morning, big surprise. I'm feeling really hopeless at this point. DH and I have been texting this morning about starting IVF sooner. He wants to jump right in as soon as I get AF but I'm thinking maybe we'll do one more IUI and then if that doesn't work start IVF in December. I've hit my deductible so anything IF related is free until January 1 so DH thinks it would make sense to just do IVF and try to get it done by the end of the year so that we don't have to shell out the $1850 deductible in January. Part of me agrees but I'm still apprehensive. The RE had recommended 3 IUIs with Femara and then IVF if that didn't work but of course she'd be willing to move on to IVF sooner if we want to. I feel like maybe it would be worth it to do one more IUI (that would be 2 IUIs with Femara) and then do IVF in December, that way I feel like we're still giving it one last shot but we would hopefully be able to get most of the IVF stuff done (at least through ER) by the end of the year. I just really don't know what to do anymore.

But I have to say I'm with your DH on this one. And even if you try one IVF cycle this time is there any reason you can't go back to IUI after if it makes sense money wise or if you don't feel comfortable? I heard of several people who did IUIs in between IVF cycles or even after. And some who had successful IUIs after previously failing with them before they had IVF rounds in between. Also with an ER you can learn a lot more about egg quality and also if the sperm can fertilize naturally or not, plus how the embies develop over the first days to give a few more clues to what else might be going on. With an IUI you know the general sperm quality and the timing, but miss the rest of the info. And for me information is powerful.

@shortstack930 So sorry for the BFN. Hugs. I would check (as I just discovered this problem myself!) if your REs office has a policy on December IVF. My RE won't start IVF after Dec. 2nd for anyone to prevent anyone needing an ER or FET on Christmas, and if yours has a similar policy, a December IVF may not be possible and may make it easier to make a decision.
@KristoKekerooni one- that journal is beautiful and I think you should sell them, I don't see it as taking advantage, I see it as fulfilling a need and helping you on your IVF journey. 2- I'm so, so sorry. What a gut punch. 3- it is awesome that your new OB is on it. I'm so glad you had a good visit. I've been with my OB since she finished med school and I had the same line of thinking, she probably has more cutting edge knowledge and is familiar with recent research, but that was 10yrs ago now...
@kiwi2628 my first reaction was Oh hell no! So glad they got it figured out. Insurance companies are just ridiculous. I super excited for you! Enjoy Morocco, eat all the food (the closest I've gotten is Morocco in EPCOT)
@rallykat14 so many hugs. I'm so, so sorry. I hope you find some ways to be kind to yourself. and you enjoy that coffee and wine. you deserve it.
@BusinessWife your message to @adirat brought me to tears...at work. what a beautiful reminder to all of us.
@adirat you're in my thoughts. this month is so bittersweet for you. Sending all of my good thoughts and positive energy your way
@purplg8r such scary news. I hope it is taken care of quickly, or is benign. You have so much happening, be sure to take some time for self-care
@beachbunnyxo123 don't feel bad for him, well feel how you want to feel, I'd never discount your feelings, but his reviewing your records and making a plan is part of his job. It is nice that you are concerned about his feelings, but you have to put yourself first. It is not selfish to do a little self preservation. I am a very non-confrontational person, so I get the hesitation with asking/suggesting another doc, but in the end you have to do what is most comfortable for you. I am wishing you the best.
@MrsMiller8588 Sorry to see you here, but as others have said this is a great place for support.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) testing-did CD3 testing this morning. they weren't going to do it (plan was to go straight to Clomid) and then on CD1 I was here on TB reading/lurking/loving/responding and just got inspired to put on my big girl pants and call and ask for the blood work. and they said okay, go on Wednesday. So this AM I went they took 4 vials of blood, I got really hot and dizzy and they had to give me an ice pack and prop my feet up...I probably should've had breakfast...but it was done.
How are things going? I'm really glad I advocated for my self. So, thanks ladies because without you I don't know that I would have.
Any questions?
GTKY: Did/are you doing anything to celebrate Halloween this year? We passed out candy last night. I did get to watch Hocus Pocus and had 3 pieces of candy corn, so I feel like it was a successful Halloween. I am really excited about Thanksgiving it really is one of my favorite times of year.

@KristoKekerooni That's wonderful! I love it when a doctor just clicks, and especially when a doctor realizes that a patient is knowledgeable and you can talk to them on that level. So happy that you are moving forward and have a great doctor in your corner now!
@beachbunnyxo123 You are so sweet and nice. I get why it's stressful for you to talk to the doctor about this, because you don't want to be a difficult patient. But like @emmasemm said there's going to be a nice way to broach the topic. Think about it. You don't want to sacrifice more of your sanity just to be nice to this guy, if things continue to be a problem. Also, aren't you in NJ? Think about how many super obnoxious paesans this guy is dealing with. You are definitely not going to be his most difficult patient even if you bring this up!
@emmasemm lol "nightly stabbings" too funny! I hope this cycle is the one!
@shortstack930 Sorry for BFN These decisions are so awful. You don't have to make a decision today -- take some time. FWIW the cost is such a big thing that if you can do it before the end of the year, that will make a huge difference for you! Like @emmasemm said you could try IVF since it wouldn't be high-cost and then if you hate it go back.
@avrilmai I am SO PROUD of you for advocating for yourself! That bloodwork is worth it just in case. You are brave and you can do this!
AFM: lining is 9.5 and trilaminar! RE said it looked "ready to go." I start all my meds for transfer today and fet will be Monday midday. I am so relieved things look good and we can move forward for Monday.
Here's another twist... When I was there I read through the PGD/PGS report with the RE. We have two healthy ones that he told me about by phone last week, but we also have one embryo that does not have fragile x but is "mosaic monosomy 7." If you're following the literature or the conversation about pgs lately over on the IF board, you may know that there is debate about mosaic embryos with some being healthy babies. Some mosaic embryos aren't viable, but others reflect random blips in an otherwise healthy embryo. The doctor and I talked about it quite a bit, and I decided to keep this embryo, too, as a backup. While a mosaic embryo has a very high chance of miscarriage, it has a nonzero chance of being a healthy baby and I decided that I would rather try an FET with a mosaic embryo than start IVF all over. Hopefully it won't come to that of course! But having one extra as a backup so to speak makes me feel less stressed about just having two and hoping for two children.
@adirat Yay!!! I am so excited for you! I have had the convo with my H about keeping 'abnormal' embryos just in case and I think we will end up doing what you do. So many things crossed for you!
@Avrilmai Good job being an advocate for yourself! No one else will care about your medical stuff as much as you do, keep at it!
@beachbunnyxo123 I dont think you should feel bad about asking another doctor to do it. Again, you gotta be your own advocate, and obviously you want as little trauma and drama with this as possible
@kiwi2628 Thanks! I appreciate you saying that. We did NGS rather than aCGH which means that they look at a couple cells per embryo. If it were not mosaic, I would have trusted the findings and not kept the embryo, but with mosaic it just feels different since mosaic encompasses two possible outcomes. I might feel differently if I had 10 or something, but I have two! Plus it's better than going through IVF again...
@KristoKekerooni This OB sounds great! I'm thrilled you're with someone who seems so on top of his game! @kiwi2628 It's happening!!!! And soon! (And yes, fuck insurance companies. If they don't want IF patients doing that, then they need to get quicker with their approvals and all the other bogus paperwork.) @beachbunnyxo123 Have you shared your concerns with the RE? I tend to stay quiet to save other people bad feelings too, but this is your cervix, and your egg, and your money, and your emotions. I would let him know how nervous you are. He should be understanding, because you've already gone through one surgery that didn't go right. Asking him about everything they'll do to ensure the FET goes well, and bringing up other ideas like - Should another doctor be there to pitch in?, etc. are all perfectly reasonable. He seems like a good RE from all the other things you've said about him and I feel like he would listen to your concerns and want to make a plan that makes you as comfortable as possible. @emmasemm Glad you're feeling better! @shortstack930 Sorry for the BFN. I'm with @kiwi2628 on this one - check with your RE office and see what they recommend. It might take some time to get all of your medications in order too, so I'd hate for you to cut it too close. On the other hand, I understand wanting to try an IUI one more time. @avrilmai I hope your blood work comes back with good news! Good for you advocating for yourself! Setting standards for your treatment early will help in the long run. @adirat I think that's smart to keep the mosaic embryo. I am so excited for your FET!
Ya'll... I feel like a newb, but can someone remind me of optimal TSH and prolactin levels?

@adirat if you're getting tshirts made count me in for one!
@kristokekerooni in germany the levels are officially what @adirat stated for TSH. However my Endocrinologist (not my RE) says he wants to see it between 1.0 and 2.0. He says he sees too many ladies with unexplained IF with TSH just under 1. He says "normal" can differ per person, the ranges are only statistical confidence ranges, and there will always be a small group of people whose normal ranges are different. If you're one of those, then 1.0 gives a much higher confidence level to catch you and treat you so it doesn't negatively impact. You might question the approach, but I'm willing to go with anything to improve our chances that doesn't do any harm...

@adirat , No I don't. Okay. Good? I guess? Haha. I'm analyzing my bloodwork from yesterday like a hawk. I already have enough to worry about. Probably increasing my iron (after already taking a prenatal and a 65 mg pill), plus need to figure out my vitamin D. I take 50,000 IU a DAY, prescription, and it's still low-11. Which is scary, considering the links between IF/loss and Vit. D. UGH. Fingers crossed the rest of the BW is all okay.

@RVAmom315 is your work event a fun event?
@zwink1 I hope Thursday goes well for you!!
@MrsMiller8588 I'm sorry you have to be here but welcome!
@KristoKekerooni how did your meeting with the OB go today? And I'm so sorry about the news. That's so hard!
@rallykat14 sending you all the hugs!
@darkstar42 the projector sounds fun!!
@shortstack930 fx for you!!
@AlohaKumu did you watch The Handmaids Tale on Netflix? And yay for the results!!
@wishiwaspreggo im a wimp! 75 is perfect to me and anything less is too cold!
@madspunk that's such great news about your insurance!!
@JuneRoseRuby I hope the timing works out well for you!
@beachbunnyxo123 your frustration is totally understandable!
@Pinky917 fx you're not out yet!
@50Wife fx this is your cycle! And that's awesome about your insurance!!
@ndz2018 come on AF!
@madspunk my own insurance doesn't cover any IF at all. And I'm not sure we'll have to go down the IVF route. This is our first TI and we still have IUI to try.

Also, regarding the shot - can your husband do it? I still couldn't do any of mine myself! Last month he was terrified to do it, but this month he was fine since he had already done it once. All of the nurses in my family have said to do it like a dart...just quick and right in. You got this!
@RVAmom315 that sounds like a fun event!

@KristoKekerooni That's fabulous that your new ob is so great! It makes such a huge difference when you feel like your doctor is truly on your side and helping out.
@KristoKekerooni I’m so glad you had such a good appointment! It’s amazing how different some doctors can be, even in the same field.

I have no IF coverage but I feel like for those who do sometimes it seems like a cruel trick that you think you’re covered and you wind up
paying so much money anyways like others have said.
I feel lost and don’t really know what to do.
next step- An appointment with RE on Nov.

It also helps that I can breathe today, and stand for more than 2 minutes without risking passing out... ;-)

@beachbunnyxo123 I am also a very non-confrontational person but if you can find a way to speak with your doctor about your concerns I would try to do it. This is too important and after all you've been through already, you want to make sure you feel comfortable that he will be able to do the procedure.
@emmasemm I'm glad you're feeling better!!

I feel so far behind and it is only Wednesday!
it is November! thinking of you @adirat and @businesswife
Sending all of my good thoughts and positive energy your way
@madspunk great news about IVF coverage!
@shortstack930 damn, that sucks. I'm sorry.
I've missed several of y'all. I'll do better.
AFM,
Diagnosis (If you've been): testing
Cycle/CD: 14/3
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle?

@shortstack930 Sorry for BFN
@kiwi2628 It's happening!!!! And soon! (And yes, fuck insurance companies. If they don't want IF patients doing that, then they need to get quicker with their approvals and all the other bogus paperwork.)
@beachbunnyxo123 Have you shared your concerns with the RE? I tend to stay quiet to save other people bad feelings too, but this is your cervix, and your egg, and your money, and your emotions. I would let him know how nervous you are. He should be understanding, because you've already gone through one surgery that didn't go right. Asking him about everything they'll do to ensure the FET goes well, and bringing up other ideas like - Should another doctor be there to pitch in?, etc. are all perfectly reasonable. He seems like a good RE from all the other things you've said about him and I feel like he would listen to your concerns and want to make a plan that makes you as comfortable as possible.
@emmasemm Glad you're feeling better!
@adirat Totally agree on minimizing the need for future IVF cycles.
