I do not see the appeal of Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead. The couple of scenes from those shows I've seen described online have definitely turned me off. Far too dark and gory for me to want in my entertainment. If I want dark I watch the news!
I don't like that "gender neutral" basically just means boy. All the GN baby clothes are all blue, green, yellow or grey. Boy's can't wear pink or purple?
@oneblessedmess I can't get into those shows either and I don't really want to.

@krashke DH got his snowmobiles out of storage this past Sunday. The rule is he can have his toys in the garage as long as I have a spot to park in there. Both of our families fair though so we aren't ready for the snow since they still have crops in the field!!

I hate when people who don't participate on a BMB pop in to share their ultrasounds.
I also hate when people want to be added to or add themselves to the BMB spreadsheets but have zero wishes to actually participate on the board. I don't get it.
@PatientlyWaiting10@krashke I don't know how you guys do it! I'm a born and raised Florida girl. I have friends from up north who will casually mention having to get up early before work to shovel driveways and scrape ice from windows and this is me:
Clearly you all are made of stronger stuff than I.
@izza2 To your point, I thought it was interesting when the Baby Name thread popped back up to the top. Since I'm due late in the month, I joined the board late and hadn't seen it. I hardly recognized any names on the first page of that thread.
@oneblessedmess I like to think of us as strong Viking women up here but at the same time its so not as bad as a hurricane and I would DIE in that humidity.

@izza2 I hope I’m not one of those that are considered just “pop inners”. I feel like I participate just not a ton because I can barely function these days with my morning sickness
Diet soda (or really anything with fake sugar) is absolutely disgusting. I can’t even drink a sip of something with it. Regular soda is usually too sweet for me but at least it doesn’t coat my mouth with that gross fake sugar flavor. Blech. Like even stevia, vom.
I love gloomy, rainy, cold days. I like being able to stay home with my dog all day in my pyjamas and drink hot cocoa. I feel like this is always allowed on rainy days.
Also I hate all candy except chocolate. Even strawberry starburst

I'm right there with you, @oneblessedmess. I hate gore and violence and just generally bad times. I can't watch the news because it makes me fear for my life. Heck, maybe I should be terrified with all the horror in our own neighborhoods... BUT NOT TODAY.
@doxiemoxie212 I wholeheartedly agree with you. Fake sugar leaves an awful taste in my mouth, and normal pop makes me sick anyway. I'm glad, though, because I have a major sweet tooth and don't need any more temptations...
@oneblessedmess I agree with you on GOT. all the raunchy stuff seems pointless.
BUT the walking dead is SO GOOD. IMO it’s way more than gore. The villain in the last season and the current one is definitely intense though.
AFM I have two boys and don’t necessarily want this next baby to be a girl. Everyone assumes we want a girl, but I LOVE being a boy mom. Of course I’ll be excited for a girl too, but no strong desire there.

I mean, I don't recognize you, but that doesn't mean anything because there are quite a few people I don't really overlap with aside from randoms and these types of threads.
I'm mainly talking about the people who have 1 post on the board and it's their ultrasound. Or their spreadsheet add form.
@oneblessedmess Up until a month ago, I totally agreed with you. Still with ya on walking dead (watched the first episode and gave it a big nope!). But after YEARS of my DH trying to convince me, i caved and gave GoT a shot. It's true that it's so wrong - incest, gory murders, rape, etc etc. But it's so good! I don't even know why...maybe half of it is the shock factor? But the story is compelling and acting is great...in my (unpopular?) opinion
@krashke the first book is honestly the worst, and it’s similar to the movies, but you have to power through. I promise it’s worth it. The fifth book is my favorite. I’d honestly start with the third book and then I think it’ll make you want to read the first two more.
@fantasticmrsfox@katelynrae86 Obviously there's something appealing about those shows that I'm missing since they have such a following! But I'm okay with not figuring it out lol.
And to be fair, the way that people who like those shows feel about me saying I don't care to watch them, is probably how I feel when people say they've never cared to read Harry Potter The Wizarding World is half the reason I moved to Orlando!

Okay not really. But it was a huge perk!
The appeal of GoT is world building and character development. Gore is all that’s talked about to people who don’t watch because that’s all that can be explained easily. I don’t actually think there’s much gore if you watch the entire series. Just some episodes. (The books are better tho, as per usual)

+1 to this. I think Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone was written for a younger crowd and as the series progressed, the books grew with the audience and became more "grown up" and complex. I first read PS/SS when I was 8 or so and I fell in love. I think if I read it now at 28 for the first time I wouldn't be as into it. So I totally get losing interest in the first book.

I skipped watching GoT because I don’t like to watch violence, BUT I read the first book and really enjoyed it. I don’t mind reading about that sort of thing because I can skip over it or deliberately not envision it. Anyway, I eventually want to read more of the series. I get some of the appeal. I’m a big Outlander series fan, I’ve read those books though so I know when the violence is coming and I just FF or skip it.
1. Cherry starburst, then strawberry. Orange is crap.
2. Dunkin is better than starbucks, especially because Starbucks is also crap. (I'm a huge coffee snob since my husband roasts his own).
3. Reading HP is a must. I cannot wait to read it to DS.
4. GoT is better in book form. I won't watch the shows because I think too much has changed. But I'm so angry at George RR Martin that I don't know if I can finish the series.
