When we had our son, we named him Emmett. Every nurse either asked us if it was after Emmitt Smith or if it was from Twighlight. Every nurse! It was not from either btw.
I love the name Emmett! It was in my top 5 boy names, but DS has a good friend with an Emmett
A parent board in Kansas City has a child named Kauffman. (Where the Royals play baseball.) Same family has a Maklin (Chiefs football player.) After we won the World Series in '15, I've seen so many babies with Royal for a middle name. Makes me cringe.
I don't get parents naming their kids after sports figures based on fandom of a team. If you like the player, like you're a huge Tom Brady fan so you name your son Brady but are not necessarily a Patriots fan, then ok. But Jeremy Maclin played for the Eagles before the Chiefs, and he may go somewhere else after his stint there, so it's fleeting. At least Royal is the name of the team so it's forever associated with it.
DH really wanted to name the baby Thomas or Brady. Not bad names on their own but the meaning for why he wanted it made me realize this kid was lucky to have me as his mom. I can only see the shenanigans DH is going to get into with these boys.
(H informed me Maclin is on the Ravens now so he’s not even a Chief anymore! This is why I quit fantasy, I can’t keep up anymore.)

@gymmonkey95 Royale just reminded me that I grew up with/went to school with a guy named Prince. Neither of these names would be my first choice for a child. Is Royale is a male or female student?
@amb929 I'm not sure, I didn't get the chance to look at their drivers license to figure it out. It really funny, I went to school with a girl named princess and it definitely fit her! @kbrinks2 haha I didn't know that it was a brand but that is just plain awesome!
Another mom in my OB office was trying to get her kid to behave yesterday and kept yelling his name: Cad (hoping its a nickname because it's not a good definition as a word.) She had a newborn, too, and his name was Legend.

Short for Cadbury? They do make good chocolate.

Speaking of Twilight, I know a baby named Renesmee.
Sweet little girl, but people in a fictional universe thought it was a bad name. Poor kid.
So I don't know these kids first hand or even secondhand but my friend has a teacher friend. And the most interesting names were this pair of siblings. The names were pronounced lah-mon-joo-say and or-ran-joo-say spelled lemonjuice and orangejuice.

I have a friend who named their son Kellan after the actor who played Emmett on Twighlight.
Also we are naming our daughter Sutton Leigh And yes, we are aware of the jokes .. " suddenly" and no it's not intentional. And slutton....and that one depends on her.
I irrationally hate the people that are validating her name choices by saying they love them.

I’m a sonographer. The baby part of the ultrasound world is actually my least favorite, so asking patients their baby names is one of the few things I enjoy about it. I have to always be ready with my poker face if they tell me a truly awful name though One of my recent favorites was twin boys being named James and Semaj. Not the worst name til you realize it’s literally just James backwards
